Motel 6 Peoria, IL

This hotel stay was a quick stop halfway through a long drive. While I knew from the price point it wasn't going to be the nicest hotel, I was still disappointed. From the moment you walk in the doors, that's an overwhelming smell of pot that hits you. It permeates throughout the entire hotel. Thankfully it didn't smell in our room as bad as it did in the hallway, at first, but then the smell started wafting in. I suspect someone in the next room had started smoking it. There were a couple people casually walking around who went back and talked to the check-in desk attendant while I was checking in. It was a little discerning having them talk in another language while the attendant was going over my info. I'm guessing they are long term residents there; that seemed to be the case in many rooms. People were a bit noisy as well. There were no ground floor rooms available so we were on the second floor. There didn't seem to be an elevator, just the one set of stairs in the front. The room was in decent shape. We checked out for bedbugs and was happy to not find any. The fridge was warm and assumably out of order. The water from the sink had a slightly orange tint. The window view was of a brick building just a few feet away. We just used the room to crash for the night with our two dogs, so it was bearable. But we won't stay there again though. There was a much nicer looking hotel across the street that we will likely look into next time.

There's just a good bit of trash, things that should be in the garbage can, on the ground around the motel.

Must be more aware about amenities, the ice machine was out of service

Laundry and dryer high price , they come in and clean your room which is ok I guess…

Nice but property around the blg had broken glasses & trash around parked cars that has flat tires.. carpenting in hallway needed to be vaccumed but otherwise it was nice & comfy needed extra pillows but didn't get it..

The property is a bit out of the way, but not too terrible. The common areas are not in the best repair but not horrible either. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean... not immaculate, but surprisingly tidy and accommodating while being among the more budget options in the area. I would stay here again, easy choice.

It was great for a 2 star hotel. Walls are thin can hear people's conversations in their room, toiletries are just bar soap, no hair dryer either only plug is inside the bathroom but over all stay was nice

It was gross! We only needed a room to spend the night in while traveling but I wanted to check out right away and find another place. We ended up staying since it was so late, but it was the worse place I’ve ever stayed in. I don’t like to give bad reviews but in this case it was really bad. The nonsmoking room reeked of stale cigarette smoke that was really disgusting and gave us a headache. The ice machine was broken. The coffee machine was out of order. The sheets had blood on them. We had to sleep on top of the sheet. The bedspread had crumbs on it. Everything felt sticky and just dirty. I know it was cheap, but for $75 there should at least be clean sheets! Ugh, never again.

They have a bad case of bedbugs and some flying insects.Trash behind the bed and under it. Floors need to be mopped with cleaning detergents. They need to invest in new waterheaters

It says non-smoking, but smells like smoke. In my room, the floors were disgusting, I found a hair on one of the towels and seen a roach crawling in my room.

Our initial room was unsuitable with the mold and grease. Staff apologized and gave us a cleaner room. He also mopped the floor upon our request, so it was sanitary for our dog to walk about. However, the hall and stair carpeting was disgusting, full of likely years' of filth! After we left the premises, my husband had what appeared to be bed bug bites on his face, hand, and back.

THEY HAVE BUGS 🐛. ROACHES TO BE SPECIFIC. THEY GAVE ME ONE ROOM AND THERE WAS ROACHES, THEY GAVE ME ANOTHER ROOM AND THAT ROOM HAD ROACHES ALSO. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

They have bed bugs always get bitten

The room smelt like mold, and cat pee. The sheets were dirty, holes in the bathroom wall, stuff spilt on the walls and the bathroom door was chewed up.

Hotel smells terrible, like bad ethnic food. People were slamming doors all night. No shampoo or hair dryer. The room was kind of dirty and run down. For the price, it’s about what you’d expect.

This motel was similar to 2 other low price motels we stayed in, going to & from viewing the eclipse in southern Illinois. Each place had inoperable lights, smelled of old cigarette smoke, no coffee and a very run-down & getting worse feeling. This motel had a trickle of a shower, no coffee maker nor fresh coffee available & we weren’t given the kind bed I reserved. I would not stay at a Motel 6 again. They appear to be allowing their facilities to run WAY down to make more income from low-cost customers.

Room was modern and clean. Property was next to the expressway but traffic noise was not bad. Staff was very helpful and quick to solve minor room issues. Reasonably priced. Perfect for an overnight stay while on a trip.

Lamps and outlets didn't work

First, the bathroom wasn’t clean, the ceiling in the showers was falling down, and it was very small. Secondly, the television in my room didn’t work even after trying both remotes. Thirdly, the side door wasn’t secure. Anyone could walk in at any time. Lastly, from 12:30am to about 3 am there were people yelling in the hallway outside my room. Needless to say I didn’t get much sleep that night. When I spoke with the man at the desk when I checked out he didn’t seem to care about my issues. All in all it was a terrible experience and I’ll never stay at a Motel 6 again .

Comfy bed! Request upstairs rooms because rooms are hard floors so it is quite noisy downstairs.

Staff was nice at check in. Parking lot was filled with trash and smelled like weed. Rooms were. In smoking but still smelled of smoke. Bathroom was not very clean. Sheets has stains on them. Was tolerable for the night. No Wi-Fi available. Would not stay again.

It was very noisy at night in the motel. It was very difficult to find my room and the directions were not very clear by the staff member.

I love the suites however no hot water in 164, 169, etc is not acceptable. There's also way too much police activity for a property that's not a long/short term rental

Where are the electrical outlets??? It appears that they have done recent renovations, but the only plug we could find for our CPAPs was under the desk and far from the bed. We had to plug the phone chargers into the single bathroom plug. Overall a decent room, but had to go get a turntable from the front desk to run the microwave, and there was accumulated dirt in the corners of the room. Had to shut the bathroom door to sit on the toilet. Good thing I was so tired that I slept hard anyway. My husband had trouble without his CPAP, because the cord wasn't long enough to reach the outlet.

Staff was rude and took pictures of me outside of my window. Told me to leave because she saw a cigar wrapper and blamed me for smoking in the room which I was NOT.

Bad cigarette smoke smell. Not convenient to park - in the back, had to walk almost to the end with my belongings (I am 74) and there was a door 2 places down which would have been more convenient to park but sign said “Use Other Door” so I had to tote ALL my things 3/4 way down a hall. Also, there was no one at the desk when I went to check out at 4am and it said there would be someone there 24/7.

although I had a confirmation that the property was booked, when I got there to check in the front desk associate was already yelling at another guest whose reservation they did not honor. He, in very broken english, informed them and myself that the hotel was full and the fact that we had reservations and confirmations was irrelevant. Late in the evening I was on the search for another property with vacancy when there were multiple large events in town. Addtionally, as I was standing there several guests who did have rooms came to the front desk, they were all very sketchy and I realized quickly this is not a safe place to stay. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that they didn't honor the reservation. DO NOT book this property!

My daughter went to check in told her she didnt have a reservation then proceeded to tell her rhey canceled it because of the dates. I am very dissatisfied. Do not recommend Thief's Overcharged me

Check-in was smooth and easy. Very polite and helpful staff. Unlike other motels we have stayed at, no hint of smoke. Very clean and well kept, and spacious. All the extras made it a very enjoyable stay.

Woke up to loud screams, door slams, and police sirens! Peeked out my door to see what looked like a parade of prostitutes leaving (one) rooms. Did I mention this was at 4am? Price is decent, management seems cool, but beware this Hotel is not for the faint of heart! Took the front desk clerk (three) attempts to find a room that wasn’t vacant…. Seems unorganized, and poorly managed. Close to lots of food options though.

Some people may get put off as the parking lot is right next to I74 and only Coffee in the morning, but property was kept up very good from observations. And actually did a request for a ground floor room due to my relative who was on the trip with me having some mobility issues for no extra cost.

This property location was fine but there was a leak above the toilet in the bathroom. The room was filthy, and not even fit to take a shower in. The floors looked like they had not been cleaned in a very long time. The tv only had sound, no picture and when I attempted to address this with the front desk I was basically told there was nothing they could do. There was very loud music playing near our room on the first night, and what seemed to be addicts all around the property. I was fearful to park my vehicle in the parking lot afraid it would be stolen or damaged. Going outside at night was not an option for my son or myself as it was very sketchy. I am not at all satisfied with this location or the way the front desk staff reacted when I tried to address issues.

What you would expect from a budget conscious location. If concerned for safety maybe look elsewhere. A lot of yelling and arguing on multiple nights in various rooms and outside. Rooms have fair amount of deferred maintenance. Staff are warming the bench but available. Overall not bad but not great.
