A very unique hotel in an area with a lot of cool shops. If you are looking for vintage stores, gay bars, and tattoo parlors, this is your spot. I would not recommend either the hotel or the neighborhood to anyone traveling with small children. Sidewalks in Hillcrest are stinky. Our room had beds that you had to climb a ladder to, which is a ton of fun if you're 25, not so much if you are 5 or 75, perhaps. My bed was super comfortable! It was perfect for me and my 18 year old, but I probably wouldn't stay in this neighborhood again, just visit for the shops/bars. Our room did have a big balcony which I wasn't expecting, and that was great. Hotel management responded right away when our sink wasn't draining, and the maids were also very nice and friendly. Love that there was parking right below the building.

Pros: Great hotel in a great location! Right in the heart of the gay district, so walkable to everything. There are so many great coffee, shops, cafés, restaurants, and nightlife within blocks of the hotel. There is also a great cafe/coffee shop right downstairs. super friendly staff, very cool/modern rooms. Price during the week was great. This was probably one of my favorite hotels. I’ve stayed at in a while. Cons: rooms are all a little bit different, so be prepared for the unexpected and be flexible. My room had a lofted bed with a ladder that was honestly a bit treacherous and probably wouldn’t work for some guests. Also, my kitchen sink doubled as my bathroom sink. Neither of those things were dealbreakers for me. Also, guests should be prepared for a significant unhoused population that hangs out at the 7-Eleven next to the hotel. Nothing really to be done about this, but there will be 3-10 homeless people hanging out on the sidewalk next to the hotel day and night. This did not make me feel unsafe at all, but be prepared.
