The courthouse is a must stay in Thunder Bay…unless you’re traveling with a large vehicle. I was traveling with a uhaul truck and it took about 2 hours to figure out parking. This for sure isn’t the hotels fault, but something to note if considering the Court House for a trip like this. Thunder Bay has very strict parking regulations and the Court House doesnt have the best or biggest parking lot.

Hotel was very nice with adjacent parking lot. Room was spacious. Tight ramp to get in and out of hotel with the luggage chart, but doable. Within walking distance of restaurants and coffee shops.

It’s impressive how they turned this historic building into a hotel. Outside of the rooms in the hallway it looks like it could be an actual courthouse, but inside the room was spacious, bright, modern and clean. There was a free breakfast which was okay. There was also a decent fitness centre in the basement. The property is at the top of a hill, and you can see the sleeping giant from in front of the hotel. One of the most unique hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

A sign outside says to go to the back door to unload heavy bags snd to use that entrance. The was locked, you needed a room key to open it which is not available until you check it and it was pouring rain. My wife stayed in the rain with the luggage until I went around the building to enter and let her in. Staff seen her out there and did not let her in.

We had to cancel our reservation due to there not being any working accessible entrance. It's law that there must be WORKING accessible entrances. We decided to go to a different hotel due to this. Our card was charged twice for the deposit. We not be back at all and will advise others to do the same.

It has a lot of old character. Good size room. Comfortable bed. Rooms on one side have a fantastic view of the lake and cargo ships. Furniture in our room was heavily stained. Fridge did not work. Difficult to find main entrance. Poor signage. Not wheelchair accessible. Lots of steps. Difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

My room was pretty gross, pee drop stains on the bathroom door frames, a pile of dead bugs in the corner, not my hair on the shower walls, blood stains on the pull out couch sheets. I disinfected every surface I touched and slept in full gear so my skin wasn’t touching the sheets. Only reason I didn’t change rooms was because it was the perfect room logistically for my anxious dog. I would never stay here again and I feel like I wasted my money.

The shower and sheets were discusting. I asked for the shower to be cleaned and the sheets to be changed, was told it wasnt time to change the sheets and that they would clean up the bathroom which they didnt. I couldnt use the thermostat because water would leak from the vent in the bathroom, house cleaning left it on begore i even got there and water did pour from the ceiling.

The staff was friendly, hotel room was exceptional and very clean! This was our second time staying at the Courthouse and it did not disappoint. The bed is extremely comfortable and the amenities the room has to offer makes travelling easy.

Clean, quiet room. Breakfast room was very well-tended. There is a grocery store across the street and plenty of restaurants nearby. The courthouse is a beautiful old building!

Great location. Rated a 4 as downtown are a bit sketchy but not enough to deter us from walking around. Beautiful building with interesting history. Rooms spacious and clean. Bed very comfortable. Not far off highway. We were fortunate to have had a room overlooking Lake Superior - amazing view!

Lovely modern rooms, good variety of hot/cold food for the continental breakfast. Nice and quiet, a beautiful building. My only real issue was that the TV satellite system was pretty glitchy though. It would be fine on certain channels, but both nights when I tried to change it to - for example - CityTV Toronto, it would go blank and a bunch of the stations suddenly would lose satellite signal. Tried rebooting the unit and it got worse where no satellite signal at all was detected. The overnight/nighttime front desk employee was really helpful and tried to fix it but it still wouldn't work. In the end, it must have rebooted overnight and again, only certain channels worked. That being said, the room was spacious, bed was comfortable and the lake view was lovely!

Absolutely loved the hotel! Very quaint and quiet. I just recently moved from Thunder Bay and remember this as a functioning court house so it was cool to see the transformation. They’ve done an amazing job keeping the original architecture. I rented a room with a king size bed and sofa bed. The rooms have super high ceilings which always adds to the feel of a room. Everything was very clean and in working order. My only complaint was the lack of heat. I stayed Halloween night and the thermostat had a laminated card stating the heating system was set to a specific temp (68) for our comfort. That the system was currently being worked on and they apologized for the inconvenience. I slept in the robe provided and my daughter slept in her sweatshirt. When we woke in the am it was 63 in our room. I honestly feel like they were keeping the temp that low on purpose to keep heating costs low. The reason I say this is my husband stayed the following week and the heat was still being fixed. This will not prevent me from booking there again I just hope on my next visit it will be fixed because it will be November or December.

I was very excited to try this hotel. The old courthouse is beautiful and the room is very clean and comfortable. However, it is impossible to rank this hotel highly due to the absolutelyshocking amount of noise experienced when trying to sleep. I know it’s not uncommon to hear noise through the wall at a hotel, but this is the worst experience I have ever had with this. The noise flows freely through the walls, the ceiling, outside the door of the room. You could hear the details of every movement, every footstep of the neighbors, even a toilet flush. I had earplugs but that did nothing to help. It was so disruptive. We hardly got any sleep the first night we were there. The second night was a little better because I think there weren’t as many guests, but we could still hear all the details of the room next door. This hotel desperately needs to attend to the sound issue. It’s very nice, but this is not a place I could ever stay again and I can’t recommend to others because it is so disruptive.

Fun rooms very spacious with super high vaulted ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. Top quality finishes and furniture with nicely stocked essentials. Breakfast hot and cold options with nice bottled juices available. Very good stop in Thunder Bay.

This hotel is a beautiful old courthouse converted to a hotel. The room had a 12 foot ceiling which makes it feel very large. We also enjoyed expansive views of the harbor and Lake Superior. Parking was easy and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was limited and did not fully meet our expectations but otherwise we enjoyed a great stay in a unique hotel.

Had a good last minute stay at this hotel! Only complaint would be our room was in the basement under the breakfast room, and it was very loud through out the morning from people walking around and moving chairs upstairs. As well a suggestion would be to have the doors to the hotel locked and only accessible with a key card overnight. We found the doors were open 24/7 so anyone could just walk in the building over night.

I stayed at this propertyfor what should have been 3 nights. I ended up having an emergency and bringing my daughter to the hospital and having to leave after 2. Was told I would get a refund by the lady at the desk for the unused night. Upon checking clothes I realized I had forgot her clothes in a drawer. After calls and being told I would get a call back and no one calling I called again. I finally received confirmation they have her clothes. I said I would pay to have them shipped. Was told I would get an email. For 3 days they kept telling me I will get an email but havent received anything and they also refuse to refund the one night. I asked to speak to the manager or leave a message and was told no by the gentleman that answered the phone. I want my daughters clothing back. Some of those are brand new costing a few hundred dollars with special medical clothing due to her being disabled. I should also add I made 2 complaints about no air conditioning in the room working so it was 77 at least in our room the whole time. I contacted the corporate office and was told I had to deal with the hotel directly. You should be ashamed of how you treat disabled, emergencies, and overall customer service. I will not stay here.

Staff was good. AC did not work in the room ( could not control the temperature) when we advised the front desk they said there was nothing they could do with it. When we asked to move to another room they said there was nothing they could do be cause we book though Expedia.

A beautiful historic building, fully renovated but preserving the majestic decor and charm. Thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay. Breakfast was very good. We had a rental car so we’re able to drive around the city. There didn’t appear to be restaurants or retail close to the hotel. Nearby streets didn’t look to be tourist friendly-a bit sketchy I would say.

Really nicely renovated. Bed was super comfortable. Room was large, bright, and spotless. Breakfast was excellent - sausages, eggs, hashbrowns and cold options. Parking was limited - mostly because we saw several people parking in it then scooting into the hospital next door. It must be frustrating for the management. The neighbourhood is OK, but walkable "nice" eating options are limited.

We enjoyed our stay. It is certainly a grand building - large windows, huge staircase, beautiful floors, etc. Our room was quite nice, very large and the beds were comfortable. Also it's in a convenient location; only a short walk to the waterfront park and the various restaurants downtown. Things that could be improved: the breakfast was disappointing. Pre-packaged "gas-station" type muffins, sad looking turkey sausages, etc. We utilized the hide-a-bed sofa. The sofa cushions had some drink stains on them and the bed was very squeaky and loud for one of the kids to sleep on. I have low expectations for any hide-a-bed but I believe this could be greatly improved upon for families.

Beautiful hotel in an old courthouse. The Beds were comfy and it was super clean. Breakfast was not good at all, with just some bagels, scrambled eggs and weird looking sausage. There was super sweet cereal and sweet yogurt cups, but kinda pathetic for a hotel thats so beautiful and expensive.

The hotel is a converted court house. It's quite lovely. The interior is bright, blue and white, with oak doors. It's quiet. Continental breakfast was minimal but adequate. No OJ but did have some bottled fruit drinks that were very difficult to open.

Free breakfast was terrible staff did not replenish food at 930 everything was empty except for cereal ,few bagels, 1 over ripe banana, no other fruit replenished hot trays with grease from bacon only .no warm eggs just cold boiled eggs , no muffins staff unfriendly and made bagels in toaster for themselves !!

They did a great job renovating! A great balance of modern and historic. Beautiful touches. Quiet since it's a small hotel! We had a great view of Lake Superior! Breakfast was okay.
