Hyatt Place Grand Rapids Downtown

The pool was closed. Parking is available but to enter and exit was a pain as the key card wasn’t working in the lane for Hyatt guests. Room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was great.

Perfectly located, not far from VanAndel at all. The beds were comfy, we had a great view, loved having mugs and glasses in the room, the shower was spacious. Lots of great food choices. Tupelo Honey downstairs was a great restaurant to hit up for brunch and dinner. The entrance is a little confusing. If you walk to the front doors buzz the speaker to the right of the sliding doors to have the staff open the doors. Then take the elevator or stairs to the second floor to find the front dek. If you park in their lot go to floor 2. Only negatives are that the pool was chilly (a hot tub or sauna would be a lovely addition) and that you can really hear other rooms doors opening and slamming shut. That being said we plan to stay here again when we pop over to GR from here on out.

Accessing the property for the first time is challenging, and it doesn't feel very welcoming. The rooms and fitness center are spacious.

It was good but very small pool and no towels.

Only 2 elevators for 11 floors and one was broken. Also, there is was a $35 parking fee. Lastly, the bartender did not know how to make an old fashioned.

Great stay. Very nice hotel and great location in downtown Grand Rapids. Parking is $38 per vehicle but it is very secure and pretty standard for downtown Grand Rapids.

We love staying at this property. This time there was a LOT of chlorine in the pool which made my kids gets a rash and it bleached a bathing suit. Other than that, it was a great stay in a great location.

Clean and close to almost all the sights and attractions in Grand Rapids. Only two complaints: 1) hotel is not easily accessible; we got lost going back from the lantern festival 2) swimming pool was not available on the day we were there; in my opinion, maintenance should be done during off hours.

The stay was great. Everything was very clean and quiet.

Dirty sheets, not enough wash clothes and towels (booked the room for 6 people and only got 4), black out curtain broke, bathroom fan was very dirty, not enough pillows or blankets for the pullout bed.

The rug and furniture had stains.

During my stay here I took a shower in our original room and the shower was not draining. I had to remove the metal plate/cover to get to the drain and remove hair from the previous guest so i could finish my shower. Upon calling the front desk, the phone in the room was covered with dust, like it hadnt been cleaned for quite a while.

Everything was clean. Great location to everything downtown. Definitely will be back.

The shade minimally kept the room dark at night. The buildings across the way had their lights on all night that shown right into our room. There was only a shade no curtain. I felt like people could see into our room and we could see out into their properties. it was hard to find things around the hotel. Everything was located on Different floors. couldn’t find the parking structure Initially. No valet parking. food was offered, but not a large variety. Also, it was very loud. We could hear things going on in the parking structures and buildings around us all throughout the night. The heating And cooling in the room was also very loud. We ate at Tupelo honey, the restaurant that you could get to through the hotel. Not sure if it was a part of the hotel. Exactly the food was horrible.

My only negative was the beds and pillows. While laying in bed it seemed as if the top by the headboard was slightly tilted makin it not very comfortable. The pillows were way to soft making them sink in and not giving supportive for my neck and head.

It was very hard to operate the tv in the room.

Room was very nice, free breakfast was excellent, staff was friendly and helpful, and the location in the heart of downtown can't be beat. One (pretty significant) negative, especially if you are a business traveler, is that the wifi is terrible. Not signal strength, but in the ability to even connect. You get access for 3 days, but the initial connection may or may not work - took us dozens of attempts over several hours to get connected both times. This was from 2 different phones and two different laptops. Windows, Mac, and iPhone - all had issues. And once you did get connected, it generally worked okay, except a number of sites wouldn't connect at all. And it was specific to the wifi, because if I disabled it and used my phone hotspot, I could connected to them just fine (though slowly, as the downtown buildings made 5G connections challenging). I also thought it was odd that if you arrive at the main entrance, you have to be buzzed in, and when you enter the large "lobby" room, there's no one and nothing there, just a staircase and a sign that says the lobby is on the 2nd floor. I don't know if this is because they just assume everyone has a car and is parking in the garage, since that is accessible to the 2nd story lobby. Still, the positives outweighed the negative and if I wasn't trying to work from the hotel during the day, I would stay here again.

It was a beautiful building but it was so loud outside I could hardly sleep. I was pretty disappointed because for the price, I should have slept better.

Clean room, large room, great shower.

Clean rooms, comfy beds, huge windows with blackout drapes. Some towels had stains on them. Great location - walked to Van Andel Arena in less than 10 minutes. Friendly staff. Construction sounds started at 730am on a Saturday. Cars were street racing at 3am all weekend.

Wonderful stay - huge room!

Hotel is conveniently located - within walking distance of many restaurants. Parking garage was convenient, although pricey at $35/day. Our room was spacious, and pristine in terms of cleanliness. However, it was on the 10th floor facing Ottowa Avenue, and the traffic noise was loud. I imagine it must be very loud on lower floors. The heavy hotel room doors opening and closing also made sleeping a bit difficult. Temperature control was easy, and the bathroom fan worked great - no steam after a hot shower. I like that they have shampoo dispensers rather than the disposable bottles. Breakfast was average. Gym was clean but small for the size of the hotel. Hotel desk staff were helpful and pleasant.

Double charged for deposit. Explain to them there mistake. Took seven days to get my deposit back. Was charged an overdraft. They didn’t care they cost me extra money for no reason. When told about the situation after I seen them swipe my card twice. Told them to much money had been taken out and they said the second would falll of the next day.

Manager tried to charge me extra $50 to check in at 1:30 pm instead of 2:30pm. I was double charged for parking as they had issue with pc when I was checking in and had to start over. Charging my cc twice.

Front desk staff not the best. Not overly friendly and/or welcoming. Evident they don’t like their job.

Bathroom door did not close when we checked in, but we didn't realize it until we had unpacked. The maintenance staff had.already left, they offered us another room, we opted to wait until the next day. Overall it was a very nice stay, the staff was very nice and helpful. It's a great property, we have stayed here several times before and will certainly be back.

Although we checked in online and paid in advance, when we arrived (after 30 hours of flight delays), the hotel had resold our room. The hotel (and every hotel in the area) was sold out, and there was “nothing they could do” to help us. Although we were eventually refunded our money, I will never book with this hotel again. What a terrible thing to do!

Stephanie at the front desk went above and beyond from a customer service standpoint. I appreciated her kindness and high level of service.

Stayed two nights here. Staff went above and beyond for my down feather allergy giving us a new room and an even better view. They were knowledgeable about the area and kind through our stay. 10/10 would stay here again! ❤️

Staff was wonderful allowing early check-in. The room and bed were very comfortable and the breakfast was a pleasant surprise with very tasty options and variety.

Clean and good free breakfast. Have stayed there twice now. It’s in a great location to walk to breweries. Only complaint is that on Sunday nights, some idiot on a motorcycle likes to tear down the street, and it is so loud. Has happened twice on Sunday a year apart.

Great hotel, staff were very accommodating. Checkin and checkout was a breeze. Food and buffet breakfast was very good. Gym was well equipped. Good location, close to restaurants and bars and for accessing the local area by foot.

The breakfast had a lot of varied options- I liked the scrambled eggs, yogurt w/ berry compote and granola and bagels! I slept so well on the bed- super comfy mattress, bedding and pillows. The location was perfect to explore downtown Grand Rapids with plenty of great restaurants,art, museums and shopping (not to mention the views along the Grand River) !

The hotel and staff were excellent , the only dislik e was that the breakfast was only Luke was as was the coffee, the toaster did not toast only warmed the bread,.

A great stay! Booked our room semi last minute as we decided to spend an extra night for a friends wedding weekend. The staff was all nice and friendly! We got drinks and food at the bar. The front desk and bar staff were great!! Lots of space in the area. The late night food was good and a nice touch that it was open u til 2am as some places in the area were not open late. We will stay here again!

I liked the staff, the proximity to the De Vos Theater and the included breakfast. I did not like the lack of parking- I had to pay $48 to park overnight in a structure. Also lack of walkable dining that is affordable. There’s high-end restaurants nearby but no casual dining. Nearby bars either didn’t serve food or we couldn’t get served after 15 mins so we left. Ended up dining at hotel bar which was just ok with a very limited menu.
