Stayed 1 night

We stayed one night in room 506. The location is good with decent eating options within walking distance. That's the only nice thing I can say about it. We upgraded to a room that was supposed to have a seating area. It had a small sofa in a very weird location. There was no place to put our clothes so thankfully, we were only there for one night. World's tiniest dorm refrigerator with no icebox and if you want ice, you have to call down to the front desk for it and I'll bring you a bag. A ton of road noise and sirens. The worst part though was the room was incredibly hot and we could not get it cooled down. When we turned on the AC it made a terrible racket. I actually took a video of the room that captured the noise. Feel free to play that and listen. The room was just cramped, oddly laid out and not at all comfortable. It's a quirky boutique hotel with zero amenities.

The Esquire is a true hidden gem in Gastonia. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed - albeit small. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooftop is an amazing space offering incredible views from all angles with spectacular sunsets. It’s a great semi-private place to unwind and enjoy drinks with friends. Barristers, the on-site bar and restaurant, is no to be missed. In my humble opinion, the creative farm to table cuisine they serve is the very best in the area.

After I checked in, I went to my room. The HVAC system was so loud I could barely hear myself think. When I went downstairs to ask for another room, the clerk told me there were no other rooms and that, anyway, all the rooms had a noisy HVAC system. I checked out and went to another hotel after requesting a refund. The hotel manager is "investigating" and I am waiting to hear if they will give me my refund.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant served great food. The room itself looked nice with a view from the 5th floor. And the roof top sitting area was nice. Overall my stay was 10/10 definitely would recommend.

The hotel does not have a lobby where you could sit. There is one desk chair in the room, so no place really to sit except on the bed. The room is clean, but very small and dark. There is a window, but it's made out of glass that you cannot see through and besides that, the glass was cracked. There is some kind of high pitch noise outside, which goes on all night long. So, even though the bed was was comfortable, it was hard to get a good night sleep. We will not stay here again.
