Staff was courteous and welcoming. Quaint hotel bar was a great bonus. Bar tender and wait staff were attentive and efficient. Hotel breakfast was convenient and offered a variety of items. Some items were in the refrigerator and had to be heated.

Hotel has a lot of character I enjoyed all the historic touches and the beautiful upgrades. However the front desk was clueless and originally gave me a room that someone else was already in. The bar closes at 9. The charcuterie board was sausage, Swiss cheese, crackers and olives not worth the $24! Finally good luck with parking!

Positives: This a beautiful building with great architecture inside and out. First impression of our room was very positive and the breakfast provided was quite good. Negatives: Our room was directly above the lounge and the music and crowd noise penetrated the flooring and kept us until well after midnight, despite the posted closing time of 11pm. We were also able to clearly listen in on the good times of the guests staying directly above us. Consequently we were not able to get a restful sleep. Parking is not included - the hotel does not validate, so parking can get very expensive if you are entering and exiting the parking ramp multiple times during your stay.

First visit and it will not be the last. Cool, renovated historic property. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms and good breakfast included with the room. Good location with reasonable parking options and access to public transit (light rail). Popular bar in the building as well.

The staff was exceptional in their customer service. The room was clean and I did not experience any mechanical issues.

First room had pigeon feathers and poop that had come through the window onto the carpeted floor. Changed to another room in that room still had trash from the previous guest in it. The issue getting a clean room really overshadowed the stay, which was a convenient location and a unique space with some fun flare.

I was excited to finally stay at this hotel - so much history and beautiful rooms. It is an amazing building and my room was well appointed and the bed was comfortable. Air conditioning worked well and traffic noise was minimal. The art is fun and charming. Unfortunately my room was only serviced once throughout my 5 night stay, and only after bringing it to the attention of the front desk, not once, but twice! Even after that, they again missed the last day of service. This coupled with every single dresser drawer being broken, and the awkward ikea wardrobe in the bedroom were really disappointing. While I was glad to have breakfast included, it’s pretty lackluster. I’m not sure I would stay again unless there are improvements in their housekeeping and furniture fixed.

This hotel is a hidden gem in St. Paul. The building has incredible history, and you can feel it in the original woodwork, the grand lobby, and the beautiful art pieces throughout. Our two-bedroom suite was elegant, spotless, and comfortable, with upscale touches everywhere. The staff are kind, professional, and welcoming. The bar/restaurant is stunning. I felt safe in the area, and parking was easy in the lot behind the hotel. Truly one of the best boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

Booked this day of due to an issue at the original hotel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was spotless. Very comfortable environment.

From the moment we checked in we were treated poorly. The check-in attendant just handed us the room cards and told us to take the elevator down. They said nothing about parking (hotel has special rates), how to check out, nothing. We were barely acknowledged. The room was disgusting! I took pictures that I will be emailing to Travelocity. The windows were not cleaned, dust on the window sill 1/2 inch thick. Toilet paper was half gone, the bathroom had blood splatter on the tile near the edge of the door. I tried to contact hotel staff to alert them to the filthy room and received no response. Every staff member I came into contact with wouldn’t even look up and say, “hi.” The hotel is run down and staff seem to be miserable. I’ve never written a bad review for a hotel before. People need to warned about this place!

Room was dirty and full of cobwebs

The room was not clean. Half empty private water bottles Saggy mattress broken toilet seat and a brick wall full of pidgeon dung for our view. Could have been nice in theory, but the room was nasty and expensive!

Love the lore of this hotel. Staff is welcoming and the free breakfast has a decent amount of options.The only negative would be that only the heat would work and not just fan or a/c, so it was stuffy and a little warm inside the room.

This hotel is super cute and was very comfortable. The only downside is we were on the ground floor and heard everything. The people walking upstairs, the laundry carts in the hallway, and the 5am garbage truck. Overall, would recommend this hotel, but maybe suggest a different floor.

The Celeste is by far my favorite hotel I've stayed at in a LONG time! The building is absolutely gorgeous, with some seriously incredible artwork. We had an executive king room and it felt a bit bigger than most king hotel rooms. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on and the pillows were perfection. It was a bit warm when we got into our room and I was very excited to find that the windows opened an inch or two, which I've never seen at a hotel before. A pet peeve of mine with a lot of hotels is that bathroom lighting is never very good for doing my makeup. That was not the case here - the bathroom lighting was perfect! The bathroom also had a decently sized walk in shower. We also had a wonderful view of the State Capitol building. The hotel also offers free breakfast. They had a decent selection of breakfast food and everything tasted good. We did not have to deal with staff very much but everyone we did talk to was very nice and helpful. We would absolutely stay at the Celeste again in the future!

The building used to be a school, and it retains a lot of its historic charm. The rooms were clean and tidy--mine was on a higher floor, with beautiful views of downtown St Paul. Would stay here again.

First I want to say that the hotel is beautiful, the service was incredible and the location was ideal for the event we were attending. The only complaint I have is it was (at times) unbelievably hot in our room. The only option on the air conditioning until was heat. We were able to crack a window a little bit which helped a tad, but it made getting a restful night of sleep challenging. Well worth the visit and I would absolutely stay here again, just maybe when there is snow on the ground!

Cool building. The lobby and bar are very cool. Rooms are basic. Our heater was old and was either super hot or freezing. Not a lot of frills but it was fine.

Room was right by the light rail. Extremely loud. Could hear everything happening in the hall. Could hear floors squeaking from people above. Room smelt like smoke.

We stayed in a suite on the 6th floor and it was gorgeous, clean and extremely comfortable with a lovely sitting room adjacent to the bedroom. We had beautiful views and pretty windows. Loved our stay!

The woman office Manager that checked me in & out was one of the best ever. She was friendly, efficient & had GREAT energy! I wasn't expecting breakfast but it was way more than I expected. There was a variety of things to eat & drink. Superb! I loved the theme of the hotel that was carried out throughout - from the decor to signage. It was a fun take on being Catholic without being sarcastic or insulting.

Cool place to stay. Staff for the most part very nice. My check in experience was not great because of a rude and inconsiderate older male employee who was rude to me as well as his fellow employee.

I have stayed at this property multiple times and usually love it! However, this experience was different. I got to my room and immediately noticed the carpet had many footprints. I assumed maybe they just neglected to vacuum. Then I noticed trash in both of the cans. I went back to the desk and asked if someone else was booked in that room or if it did not get cleaned. The Associate told me there was a family that was originally booked in the room, but requested a move. I asked if housekeeping had been in the room and was informed they were only in the room for 20 minutes. Since I checked in at 10:00PM, there was little opportunity to find somewhere else. Once I was in the room, it did not appear anyone was on the bed and did not seem "dirty," but a matter of principle. Also, this was the first time I had breakfast and was somewhat disappointed, but appreciated the option for free breakfast. The coffee bar and flavored syrups were nice.

Hotel Celeste exceeded my expectations-the building was very pretty, and the rooms were larger than I expected from the pictures. When traveling for business, I often stick to chain hotels because sometimes “boutique” hotels aren’t great for business travel. I’m happy to report that this was NOT the case with Celeste. The bed was comfortable (sometimes this is an issue with historic hotels unfortunately!), I have a had back, and I didn’t wake up hurting. The bathroom was modern and well equipped and the hot water came on quickly and was steady (good water pressure as well). The WiFi was fast, and stayed connected without fuss. The room was quiet, and easy to access. In addition, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I needed to receive a package, and print a shipping label, and the ladies at the front desk were responsive, quick to help, and pleasant to deal with. Overall, an exceptional stay.

We stayed for our wedding night at the Chapel Suite, although a beautiful place, they could have changed some decor in the room. I understand that the room was a nun chapel but the 10 nun photos gave me the creeps. When booking initially we said that it was for our wedding night and they were going to add something special like rose petals and so forth. When we left for our ceremony, I made sure to tell them that the room needed to be cleaned so when we came back it would be a nice magical end to our day. Not only did no one come to clean, but there was nothing special added or anything like they said they would do. Big bummer. We had no towels that were clean, bedsheets that havent been changed etc. The day prior, we finally got everything in the room, and wanted to watch some TV before we went to dinner. The TV had no signal for any channel. We called the front desk and they said that they wouldn't be able to fix it and that they could give us a discount, after asking if we wanted to move to another room…we started to fuss and we started moving the tv, looking for cables, wall plugins behind the entertainment center and so forth. After unplugging and plugging some in it wasn't working but the fact that we had to do all of that in the first place was upsetting. I do wish that some windows were able to be opened and not stained glass, felt a bit contained and claustrophobic not being able to look outside. The front desk staff was nice and the bartender Kevin was amazing.

The hotel is quite good. The location is terrible, surrounded by empty streets with apparently homeless people. Some gather at the park which is right across the street from the hotel. Walking just a few blocks to get to a restaurant is not a pleasant experience. As a result I didn’t feel it was worth the price.

We stayed at the Celeste to attend NHL and PWHL games at the Excel Centre. The hotel was beautiful and interesting, the room was spacious, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The Celeste was less than a ten minute walk to the arena and we felt safe walking back late in the evening after games were over. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was convenient and sufficient. I would highly recommend the Celeste to anyone visiting St Paul.

Very unique hotel. It was a great location for us as we walked to the hockey game.

Good breakfast. Staff friendly. Rooms clean and comfortable. Not located in best part of town. No valet parking and felt unsafe to self park at night. Location also very noisy. One block from fire station and right next to metro line. Sirens all night long

The hotel was very clean and had great qualities to it. The renovations in the hotel were nice and the breakfast was a great added bonus! The one downside is that the area it is in felt like it could be unsafe. A lot of people hanging around outside the churches across the street and in front of the history theatre.

Such a gorgeous hotel! I love the history behind it and the fact that they restored it responsibly, it's got so much of the original vibe, with modern updates. So cool. And the light rail is literally one block away, so convenient.

Easy walk to the Xcel Energy Center and dinner before. Lots of shops and attractions around the area, and a parking garage right next door.

This property was very unique in that it used to be a convent. It was very charming and well-kept for the most part. The area around it was sketchy at best. One evening, an impaired man was standing on the corner exposing himself and yelling at everyone. The area was shady at best. I had no issued though.

I love the Celeste! Parking ramp next door is convenient. Easy to get in and out of this downtown location. Don't let the steps fool you - this is a pretty decently accessible hotel. Rooms are clean. Staff is always very friendly. Good breakfast in the chapel! I would plan to eat elsewhere or order in, but the drinks (and mocktails) are good. Food is good, just not a lot of it and sometimes they close at 7, sometimes 8. Cool bar area though!!

We chose this hotel in part based on a past experience that was fantastic. This time the room was a little musty and the breakfast was terrible. It was supposed to be open until 10 AM, but they ran out of eggs before 9 and never replenished them. Disappointing.

Beautiful building! Beds were really comfortable and lovely bathroom. The breakfast was wonderful! One of the best buffet meals we’ve had.

Absolutely loved the vision and design of the space. The concierge was kind enough to move us to a Capital view room that was beautiful. Housekeeping does an incredible job. Very clean and tidy. I missed black out shades and the continental breakfast was a very basic breakfast. Most of the food was cold and a couple of the options were not refilled during service. Not a huge deal as it is continental but in the interest of an honest review, there is that. Would 100% stay there again, regardless. We’ll just grab breakfast at one of the dozens of fantastic spots not far from there. It’s a really great location!

Loved this hotel so much. Rooms were decent size. Loved the shower. Parking was easy and right behind the hotel, costs 17.75 a day. The continental breakfast was one of the better I’ve seen. The bar was fun with great drinks. My only complaint was I would’ve loved a smart tv or at least a tv with a guide to show you the schedule. We would’ve brought our chromecast had we known. I will definitely stay here again.
