The pool area, especially the hot tub. We always look forward to a hot tub night. Upon entering we noticed a yellowish color on the bottom and jokingly said it was urine. I pushed the button and immediately the area began to foam. My son(11) got a little foam in his mouth. It happens! Yet, he said he began to complain of headache and got out. He was in the hot tub for about 8 minutes. My wife and I hung out for another 5 minutes when I felt an itchy sensation all over my skin. At this point, it was becoming too thick and toxic. We got out. That same night my son began to complain that his skin was rashy. Definitely real tears! We all rinsed off in the shower and applied body cream. Interestingly, we noticed that “All” our body hair on our legs and arms disappeared. My boy was quite upset. Upon checking out I mentioned to the staff manager of our disappointing issue we pool area and she would handle the situation, due to other customer complaints. It should be noted that we continued to itch for the next two days. Thank goodness this occurred at the end of our vacation. Hopefully the business will remedy the situation and address the problem. Luckily for us, all wounds are healed and tears have dissipated. Our hair will grow back. This will definitely be a conversation point of our vacation.

The workout facility was sparse and the lone trendmill was not functioning. The facility was old and shabby. The trash can outside was also not emptied for 3 days! Poorly managed.

Staff at check in friendly. Pool and hot tub closed down, no discount offered. We were not notified ahead of time. Shower head, awful - sprayed everywhere. Could not get hot water in shower, was a high warm. Room was quiet at night, that was nice.

We had pretty limited criteria going into a 2 night stay with our family. Pet friendly, breakfast, pool. The place was probably completely full, and the main issue was that the staff wasn't keeping up. Our first morning there, there was a massive line for waffles and they were literally out of everything else. I went to the counter numerous times to ask them to replace food/coffee/bread. They saw the lines but weren't proactively monitoring the supply. They also didn't seem in too much of a hurry to fix the hot tub, which was out our entire stay. And ice machines just were turned off on some floors. The staff were very friendly, the small pool was warm, and always well stocked with towels.

The room wasn't very clean. There were stains in the tub in the bathroom and it looked like the carpets were not vacuumed and there was spill stains on the furniture like something got tossed at the tv stand and not wiped off. Overall the room had a bad odor and the hallway was also disgusting smelling.

It smelled moist and moldy. There was a dehumidifier running outside our door. Something leaked and and they did not handle it correctly. On our second day we came back from breakfast and we were locked out of our room. They had to issue us new keys. Other than that it was an average stay.

The staff personnel were all very courteous and professional. The property was well maintained. Inside the building, it was a quiet environment, even late at night. The room was clean. The bedsheets were good quality but had a few black stains on the pillow cases, probably from previous guest’s mascara. The bathroom was very small. The toilet bowl had a yellow circle of stain. The maintenance staff could benefit from a really good laundry detergent and some toilet bowl cleaner, applied regularly. I’m not comfortable seeing evidence of previous guests’ stay still visible in my room.

Place was overall clean, desk clerk was very nice. They do have hard water, and the toilets could have been cleaner. There were many bugs in our room (9 ladybugs, 1 stink bug, & 1 centipede). Understanding the hotel was on the outskorts of a very small town in the farm fields, we tried to be understanding. The hallway smelled a bit dirty, as if the carpets were cleaned with already dirty water. The breakfast was good, decent choices and plenty of room to sit. The pool area and hotel was clean, but did run out of towels two days in a row. When we asked for more, the worker jumped on ot immediately. The morning we left, there were 3 VERY obnoxious kids not being watched by their parents. They were old enpugh to know to be quiet & respectful, but chose not to (Maybe 9-12). They were throwing food in the breakfast area, screaming, jumping & splashing in the pool, throwing ice at each other in the main hallway, and running up and down the halls racing each other at 8am. Multiple people told the worker at the desk & maintaining the breakfast, but no one did anything. I want to say you get what you paid for. Room was clean, easy check in & out, and amenities they listed were available. Just not the best stay at an Americinn before.

The pool and hot tub are great. Perfect temperatures and not too much chlorine. Staff was very friendly. Beds are are not comfortable. Unfortunately, we left a day early due to this. Room was clean but sheets and comforters were stained.

Walked in the room and the main light and the bathroom lights would not turn on. Young man at the desk managed to fix that. Tried to turn TV on, that would not work either. Eventually the young man at the desk was able to get that working. Bed was extremely hard, did not sleep well. Bathroom door could barley be closed, had to step in shower to close bathroom door.

Most uncomfortable mattresses I’ve ever experienced. Extremely hard with built in patterns of extra hard spots. Made my hip arthritis feel terrible. Not able to sleep on them. Had to fold cover and put towels on top to mitigate a little. I’m never selecting this hotel brand again.

Pros- The staff is very friendly. The rooms seemed very clean. Breakfast was a nice offer- continental style with several options. There is a fridge (no freezer) in the room as well as a microwave. I appreciated the makeup wipes. The location is very convenient for the activities we had planned for our short trip. Cons- we picked this hotel for its proximity to nearby attractions and the fact that it had a pool. The pool and hot tub heating elements were not functioning correctly. The hot tub was about 95 degrees and pool was 72. This rendered the pool too cold for swimming, much to my kiddos disappointment. We also requested more towels and pillows (they were weird sized squares?), which staff said they would bring. They did not bring them. Asked a second time and they were still not brought to the room. The tv was very difficult to figure out - we had to google the remote to even learn that it was impossible to interact with the TV guide so we could not scroll and click on a show, or jump ahead to the next hour block. Overall we would return, but definitely would keep the cons in mind for the next trip.

Please note! Make sure you bolt and pull the safety latch on the door. Maid service knocked and within seconds opened the door. They are lucky that I had the safety latch on. It looks like there needs to be better communication between the cleaners and front desk regarding who has checked out or not! I’m furious! Beware!

The gal who checked us in last evening was SO great. Kind, caring, interested in where we came from and how long we’d been driving, accommodating…she was quite personable and friendly. Not always what you find with a later check-in. (And definitely more delightful that the front desk gal this AM who made sure to let me know there wasn’t much breakfast left when I came down from our room). She was right. Hardly anything left and she had no intention of doing anything about that. Overall, great stay - just think your night gal deserves kudos for her hospitality!

My daughter & I had a pleasant one-night stay while we were visiting The House on the Rock. The desk personnel were friendly and got us checked in quickly with no hassles. The beds were extremely comfy & the A/C cooled off the room almost immediately. I am not a fan of the Spectrum service (way too many Spectrum ads), but the TV functioned well. Location of hotel is out of town, so you can't really stroll anywhere. Free breakfast was good. Not a ton of options, but what they had was enjoyable. Bathroom was tiny. I'm not overweight, but even I have to squeeze to shut the door. Ice machine in hall didn't work. Very few vending options in lobby (Pepsi or Diet Pepsi?). Bugs in bathroom, fly buzzing around room all night, otherwise tidy. Relatively quiet (people outside window talking for a while, otherwise good). For nearly $200 price should've been better, but still enjoyed stay. Overall good.

Convenient location for our visit to House on the Rock, Governor Dodge State Park and Cave of the Mounds. Close to gas stations and some food options. We didn’t use the pool but saw several other families enjoying it. Seemed to be well-kept. Good breakfast selection. Quick and easy check-in in and check-out. Korrisa at the front desk was helpful & pleasant.

I was disappointed that on our second morning there by 8 am they were out of almost everything to eat. No eggs, sausage, yogurt, bread, bagels, pastries & donuts. Even hot water. Took almost 15 minutes to get hot water & then the dispenser didn’t work. There was a young man working behind the desk, also wiping tables & answering questions. People were coming into the dining section, shoe less & shirt less. Totally they didn’t check the # of reservations to anticipate the amount of food they needed. Otherwise my stay was good.

We had a nice stay at the AmericInn during our visit to The House on the Rock. We were in a King 1 br apartment and were surprised that there were two king beds instead of one pullout sofa. This was great as my husband and I were traveling with our adult son and we all had plenty of sleeping space. The pool area was nice, though there were a lot of dead earwigs on the deck. There were plenty of towels in the pool area and the pool wasn't full of kids splashing. Staff we're courteous and helpful. My son's tv was having an issue, and someone came up right away to get it working. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, waffles, biscuits & gravy, bacon, sausage and cereals and breads. It was a decent spread, with a few issues (watery gravy, cold sausage, ran out of forks). Overall, the hotel is clean and the staff is responsive. Breakfast is plentiful. Pool is warm and inviting with lots of natural light. We felt safe. Easy parking. Would stay again.
