Quick check in, no working lift. Good décor in a spacious room. Very nice bathroom. Didn't like the wooden slatted window arrangement, I felt trapped, unable to open a window or see out. No breakfast but a couple of cafes nearby. Short walk from station.

Town centre location so don't expect it to be quiet, but the rooms are surprisingly good value and quality and it is super convenient for the centre shops and offices. Room top bar is a bonus!

We did not eat in the bar area so can’t comment on food. Room was lovely, the only down side was the tiny tea cups, would prefer a mug for morning tea, especially when breakfast not an option. Good location but unfortunately not able to use roof top bar due to private parties

Poor initial service as despite showing my paid confirmation of the booking I was made to log into my hotels.com acc & print off a receipt in front of them as they manager said anybody could have printed off the copy I turned up with! Apart from the lift not working which was not a major problem everything else was good & the room was excelent

Great location, very central whilst also feeling very quiet. Good insulation between rooms, didn't hear neighbours at all which is impressive as there's a bar downstairs and bar terrace. Beautiful design, friendly staff, comfy bed, good entertainment (joined the drag bingo), can't fault it!

Excellent place, lots of lovely touches and someone has obviously spent a lot of time thinking about those nice touches. Very clean in the rooms and the main bed was very comfortable. The sofa bed less so but that is what it is really. I loved all the helpful little notes around the room. The shower was hot and plenty strong enough. Location is what it is, if you don’t like being in the town centre there this isn’t the place for you. For us it was perfect. Car parking isn’t available

There was no one at reception, we had to check in at the bar. Music was so load we had to shout to be heard. The room was clean, but the bathroom and room smelt of damp. Bathroom door very unsubstantial so no privacy. Lots of small things were very poor, but some nice touches.

One of the nicest hotels i have stayed in a while, room is modern, clean and spacious. nice touches with the bottled water, milk etc available from a fridge on 1st floor. Only criticism, there is no plug socket next to the mirror.

Tv didn’t work, stains on the duvet. There were no staff around to help. Called the property number several times with no answer. Upon check out there was no one to hand the keys back to, called the number yet again only for head office in London to answer who tried getting through to someone at the property but again no luck. After 30mins past check out I eventually just left the keys with one of the cleaners as there was no other option and no express check out box. Rather disappointing

I regularly work in Reading and when I get the chance, I will stay in the Market House. I’ve stayed in a few of the other Reading central hotels and this is my favourite for the price and comfort. Rooms are always really clean, showers are nice and hot and I get a good night’s sleep. Andreea the host is very welcoming too!

We booked here based on the reviews and the proximity to the train station. The room was spacious, the king sized bed was comfortable. We. We were on the 3 rd floor and found it very quiet. The room had obviously had a total refit in the not too distant past. The bathroom was a good size, we found the hot water supply was inconsistent during our stay. We would book here again if in Reading.

Too noisy to sleep. The rooms at the back of the hotel appear to have some form of industrial aircon unit immediately outside. Even with earplugs, it was impossible to sleep.

Lovely clean smart room, awesome shower, fluffy towels, great coffee/tea making facilities. Very quiet room too. Only drawback for me was not having fresh air as the windows didn’t open and I found the bed and pillows a bit too firm for my personal comfort. I would absolutely stay again if I could have windows that open!

I checked in out of hours and got an SMS from the hotel with details to self-check in which was easy. I left early the next morning so didn't engage with any staff but the online messages were responded to quickly and in a friendly way. Room was modern, clean and comfortable. Nespresso machine was a nice touch. Would certainly stay again

This hotel was a bit of a surprise, I’d it’s a little quirky, in a good way. The room was clean, large and well decorated. The location is great to visit attractions and just walk to many restaurants, cafes and historic sites. The staff was also super friendly and accommodating.

I had a great stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in a very good catchment area so your not in the hustle and bustle but just around the corner from the shopping centre and train station. It is reasonably priced and great location for someone travelling on their own. I would recommend

The bar staff do the check-ins. If you have questions when the bar isn’t open there didn’t appear to be staff around. However, there was a phone number to call. Breakfast was a paper bag in your room with dry porridge you add water to, drink boxes of juice, and apples. Room was clean. The rooms seem fairly pricy considering the lack of services provided.

The hotel room itself was nice. However, having to book in at the bar instead of a reception area is lacking. There was no one there to help. Paid for a breakfast to only be given a brown bag breakfast with some fruit and a porridge container. Again- lacking. The hotel is not convenient for uber/taxi collection directly outside- several Ubers cancelled as they can’t collect in front of the hotel. It was VERY noisy in the evenings. Great if you’re young and want to party- not so great if you’re working and want to sleep.

This is the third time my partner and I have chosen to stay at the Market House. We like its convenient, central location, and clean, spacious, well-appointed rooms. Staff are always friendly and efficient, our check-in and check-out experiences have been seamless each time. The only disadvantage at the moment is the fact that the lift is under repair, which did not particularly inconvenience us, but could pose an issue for guests with mobility issues. Overall a great stay for a night out in Reading, dinner and shopping.

Great location for a course I was attending and close to shopping centre and restaurants. Room was clean, spacious, and beautiful! Only thing I would suggest is that it would be nice to have a fridge in the room… other than that can fault the Market House!

Great location...very close to the station , shops , bars and restaurants. Room was clean , large bathroom , with a fabulous shower .

I had a great stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in a very good catchment area so your not in the hustle and bustle but just around the corner from the shopping centre and train station. It is reasonably priced and great location for someone travelling on their own. I would recommend

Really lovely hotel right in the heart of Reading. Super cute rooms that are really clean and comfy. Within very short walking distance to the main shopping centre and train station. Staff were really helpful. Great stay, thank you 😊

Excellent place, lots of lovely touches and someone has obviously spent a lot of time thinking about those nice touches. Very clean in the rooms and the main bed was very comfortable. The sofa bed less so but that is what it is really. I loved all the helpful little notes around the room. The shower was hot and plenty strong enough. Location is what it is, if you don’t like being in the town centre there this isn’t the place for you. For us it was perfect. Car parking isn’t available

Very fun place to stay in Reading. The walk from the train station took about 10 minutes. The room was very clean and the Bath amenities were very luxurious. Had a burger in the pub downstairs and the atmosphere was welcoming and lively.

No hot water, just lukewarm. No vent in the bathroom and when taking a shower, water splashed over the bathroom floor. Rotten apple in the breakfast bag which most likely wasn’t checked for a long time since even the brown paper bag was damaged and sticking to the table.

Close to the centre of Reading, this is a lively nightspot with accommodation. Access was easy and although our room was on the first floor it is quite high up so noise from the bar (which closes at 11) wasn't an issue. Staff were very friendly and helpful; room pleasant; shower, bed linen, towels, toiletries, coffee/tea facilities all of a high standard. A pity breakfast not available, but lots of good places in the vicinity.

Beautiful rooms - well designed and decorated - very characterful. Entrance to the ‘hotel’ part of the building is less appealing. Food options in the bar are limited - mostly heavy, fried food.

Would love to be able to give this property 5 stars because the room and amenities were perfect. Unfortunately though there was a 30th birthday party taking place in the hotel bar right under our room. The noise kept us up all night and we had no prior warning of this not even upon arrival when checking in. I would therefore not have paid the money that I paid for this room to be kept up all night. The room was so close that it felt like I was in the bar and if I opened the curtains everyone down below in the party would be able to look up and see me. As well as this the breakfast bag unfortunately contained an apple that was going mouldy and not at all edible.

We did not eat in the bar area so can’t comment on food. Room was lovely, the only down side was the tiny tea cups, would prefer a mug for morning tea, especially when breakfast not an option. Good location but unfortunately not able to use roof top bar due to private parties

The bar staff do the check-ins. If you have questions when the bar isn’t open there didn’t appear to be staff around. However, there was a phone number to call. Breakfast was a paper bag in your room with dry porridge you add water to, drink boxes of juice, and apples. Room was clean. The rooms seem fairly pricy considering the lack of services provided.

The hotel room itself was nice. However, having to book in at the bar instead of a reception area is lacking. There was no one there to help. Paid for a breakfast to only be given a brown bag breakfast with some fruit and a porridge container. Again- lacking. The hotel is not convenient for uber/taxi collection directly outside- several Ubers cancelled as they can’t collect in front of the hotel. It was VERY noisy in the evenings. Great if you’re young and want to party- not so great if you’re working and want to sleep.
