Swahili Beach

It was an amazing relaxing long weekend for us. Every need dealt with by the hotel quickly and effortlessly. The food was simply divine. Well done you. If there was something that would improve the hotel then it would be the inclusion of some swim up rooms.

Impeccable! This resort is beautiful and the architecture is so unique and intriguing. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. I've never stayed at a resort with so much character. The amenities are great. The breakfast options are tasty. The pool is beautiful and big so you can get your own private space. The floating bean bags in the water are so comfortable. I actually feel asleep on one. The only thing I'd like to point out is... the beach on the resort isn't as nice as others. You may want to walk down to other beaches if you want white sand and blue water. But this is not a deal breaker at all. Gives an excuse to walk and see other neighboring beaches.

I was sorely disappointed because I expected a 5-Star as the resort purports itself to be. The beach is NASTY, full of rocks and seaweed which workers attempt to sweep for at least 4 hours every morning. The pools are DIRTY except the one at the very bottom and the service was lacking because I had to keep calling the front desk for assistance with housekeeping. I’d had surgery so I needed my room cleaned as early as 10am everyday of my 7-night stay, but it still wouldn’t be cleaned by 4pm! I’ll just go back to Pride-Inn and the North Coast resorts.

The hotel offers excellent amenities, including a stunning multi-level swimming pool. The rooms are charming and traditionally designed, though the bathrooms and floors could use more attention to cleanliness. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Overall, it's a fantastic place to stay.

El desayuno es increíble, y las habitaciones y las instalaciones geniales. La única pega que se le puede poner es que las habitaciones olían un poco a humedad, y para un hotel de esa categoría, hay detalles que se deberían cuidar un poco más. El gimnasio es diminuto y la playa, por desgracia, está llena de rocas, hay que andar bastante para poder disfrutar de un poco de agua transparente y arena.

I loved the Swahili decor! Nicely maintained gardens, different food options. Would not recommend for children. Beach not the best but everything else including amazing spa facilities —excellent.

🌴 A Destination in Itself – Beautiful Design, Great AC, a True “Wow” Hotel Arrival & First Impressions On arrival, we were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink called Dawa Sawa (lime juice, honey, and soda – 550 KES). It was so good I ordered it several times during our stay. We also received a helpful briefing and tour of the property, which immediately set the tone for a special experience. Architecture & Atmosphere Swahili Beach Resort is truly a destination in itself. Designed in the 1970s by Polish-born architect Zbigniew Trzebinski and Slovakian Tibor Gaal, the property is a stunning showcase of coastal design and remains one of the most impressive resorts on the Kenyan coast. Photos and videos simply don’t do it justice – this is a genuine “wow” hotel. Rooms & Rates I paid $2,390 through Expedia for three nights in two king rooms (#115 & #116). Rooms are spacious, with mosquito netting, strong Wi-Fi, and excellent air conditioning. Views are limited due to lush mature vegetation, but that greenery adds to the tropical setting (and keeps mischievous monkeys nearby – keep balcony doors closed!). Bathrooms feature powerful rain showers with strong water pressure (caution: hot water runs very hot). Tuk-tuks are available right outside the resort, and there’s a complimentary shuttle to Diani Airport. Dining Food here was the best we had during our 10 days in Kenya. The resort offers both half-board and full-board options across four restaurants.

We stayed at for 6 nights a group of 3 women. They would not let us share a room not even a suite so we purchased two standard rooms- one was underwhelming with a broken air conditioner and all the art removed from the wall with nails sticking out- the other room next door was nicer. After many hours traveling we went to shower in both rooms the water was not working at all. We called down stairs and they were working on it. This happened multiple times during our stay and staff was not apologetic. The shower is also cold as sometimes the hot water wasn’t working. Every night at 9 pm we would get knocks on the door apparently it’s turn down service but knocking on a door that late woke us up. The breakfast was wonderful, the dinner food was terrible except at the spice market/ the only dinner venue with amazing customer service and food. My regret is not knowing about until the second to the last night! We had the best service. In other areas the customer service was poor while there was plenty of staff at all times service was very slow overall. Many staff did not look happy to be there or would roll their eyes. I had an appointment at the spa at 10 and arrived at 945 to fill out paperwork and the attendant told me I’m too early to be there rolling her eyes. The massages were amazing though and I do recommend despite the poor front staff customer service. The spa is closed and under renovation so empty hotel rooms are being used as the spa currently.

The pools were dirty and disgusting. The property is receiving payment from me and other guests everyday. Why is the swimming pool staff Not giving cleaning service when necessary ? ? Why is the building next to us so black and disgusting ? I will suggest a good power wash and new coat of paint. Rainwater causes mildew stains over time. Now it is an eyesore. Please clean your swimming pools,even on Sunday. Thank you for your concern. Your loving pride and joy client.

1st room had bed bugs but I was relocated to another room on an upper level. Staff and service was great.

Very impressed by the cleanliness, food, people and environment. For someone’s who’s always underwhelmed. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

A place that had seen better days, eg., cracked porcelain in toilet bowl; inexperienced service. Next month the place will be helmed by a new manager, who will undoubtedly improve everything.

Swahili Beach is and always has been one of the iconic hotels of the South Coast. Being someone from this area, it’s an establishment I am very proud of and recommend often to friends and other travelers. This time though, I must mention a couple of things about my visit… I was very disappointed about several things! Although the food was great and the team was fantastic from start to end, a lot was disappointing. Our room was very run down, AC was very loud, shower had no pressure, taps were barely hanging in there, the lounge chairs were so dirty and stained, there was no Wi-Fi which means the room phone was not working which means we could not book any spa appointments, call for housekeeping to get an iron, call for room service or anything else. We had to walk to the bar, the reception, etc which is quite a distance in the rain with no one offering you umbrellas. Two nights at one of our favorite hotels could not have ended fast enough this time round. I hope some urgent maintenance will be made soon and I hope they will take care the necessary care of the Expedia members. There is a standard that is set by other establishments for members that keeps us coming back to Expedia. Sad to write this review, but it was necessary…

We had a wonderful stay at Swahili Beach Resort! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, making our stay very comfortable. A special thank you to Edna, who was especially helpful during check-in. She made sure our family of four was assigned to rooms next to each other, which made things so much easier for us. She also kindly arranged a late check-out to accommodate our late flight—something we really appreciated. Overall, excellent service, clean rooms, and a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Room had musty smell apparently due to mold. Staff were OK but not particularly helpful. Beach had weeds and not as nice as other beaches.

Great gardens, wonderful staff and beautiful beachfront. The food is excellent and choices cover vegetarian needs. The only slight downside was the room. Some rooms need updating and our sink wasn’t well cleaned. There was a smell in the shower after use as well. Overall, I would go back.

Upon checking in, the staff was not thorough in their explanation of services, booking, amenities, etc. This caused much confusion throughout our stay. In trying to seek clarification, we were met with a dismissive reservation staff who sought to make us more uncomfortable. They even went to attacking me verbally and then denied this to upper management. Out of the numerous issues with my booking including a broken A/C unit, TV, toilet, and clogged sinks, they didn\'t make an effort to resolve these issues quickly, if at all. My toilet was not fixed over the course of 6hours on the day I checked in, even though I had reported it twice. My sinks stayed clogged, the TV never worked. Just incredibly disappointing and offensive for the level of holiday enjoyment they claim to offer. To top it all off, management waited until the day of my checkout at the final offer to discuss our incidents. They offered not one single complimentary experience, discount on stay, etc. Just an "I\'m sorry, I hope you\'ll return." With that, I won\'t be. This establishments only saving grace is its beauty and the wait staff.

Very nice end to our safari. We came here to relax and enjoy the coast. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean, our food was great, we had wonderful spa treatments and were fully relaxed while there. It's an older property but is maintained well. Very beautiful grounds overall. The beach location was not the best stretch in Diani I've seen (nature is nature) but that doesn't take away from the overall beauty of the resort.

Beautiful property with amazing views. Big and spacious room with a comfortable bed. Loved the food both the buffet and dining options. The wifi signal and phone services could be better.

The a/c in room 40 was not working and the toilet bowl needs to be cleaned out well with some bleach. there are some stains in there. We complained and our room was changed and upgraded because of the inconvenience and that was amazing! All in all, it is a lovely place to stay. Food is amazing too

I've stayed at almost all the best hotels in across diani and Swahili beach is my favourite. Amazing staff, exceptional services and quick response to any problems or issues you may have. Big thanks to Rose the manager and all the staff working in the resort. Loved the food choices between the different restaurants at swahili beach. Coming back very soon

Beautiful setting but service very uneven and antiquated.

Dans le sac à dos fermé, la trousse de toilette fermée. Dans la trousse, le portefeuille, bien rangé. Un moment d’inattention et un membre du personnel (?) ă subtilisé 50$ ! La Direction nous a un peu baladé mais comme c’était le dernier jour, ils ont juste attendu que cela se passe. Pour un séjour à plus de 1000€, ils auraient dû faire plus et mieux !

Swahili Beach Resort was a dream. Such a beautiful property & the food was very delicious from the beach side restaurant to the night dinner buffet . I will definetly stay here longer next time .i really enjoyed the live band and pool side bar. I will say that they need better customer service and better communication within the staffing .

Security staff were very discriminating against us and treated us as if we didn’t belong there. Restaurant staff were very pleasant and gave great service So did gust services.

I had limited time in the hotel. During that time every member of staff was kind, considerate, courteous and made me feel very well looked after. I would both recommend the hotel and hope to return.

The staff are amazing. All very helpful and patient. Allowing me to check out at the time required (10am) but stay until 230pm and use the pool and take a shower at the spa for no extra cost was truly special and so appreciated.

This is a very nice property with a lot of amenities. The staff, however, is not overly accommodating. For instance, I asked for more water for our room and I was told that I was only to have two bottles and then if I wanted any more water, I would have to either order it from room service or get it myself from the bar or go across the street to the grocery store. There were a lot of little things like this, and It seemed every time we asked for some thing or needed something the answer was often no. Overall, though it is a good property and I would recommend it.

The hotel’s central location makes it convenient for exploring nearby restaurants and attractions. The property is clean, the food is decent, and the staff are warm and accommodating, which enhances the overall experience. That said, while the hotel still maintains a good standard, it’s not quite as impressive as when it first opened, with some visible signs of wear and tear. However, this doesn’t significantly impact the stay, and I would return for the convenience it offers. One downside is that the beach isn’t as great as other spots along the Diani coastline. Overall, a solid choice for its location and service.

Really great stay to end our 2 week safari trip. Wonderful ocean views from beach restaurants, delicious food every meal on full board. Swimming pools are spectacular! Beach would not be really suitable for swimming or most picturesque - so if looking for instagram pictures of white beaches turquoise waters and palms trees, would need to take a short walks.

Absolutely stunning place and great service. A bit far from the Mombasa airport but once we got there, everything was perfect!

Amazing resort. I ate, swam, drank and relaxed. Only bad thing is they don't keep beach boys from harrassing you so I didn't go on beach. Security just watched them harrass people. Lovely rooms, great service.

Had the best time here, close to everything and the staff are all so adorable and friendly.

I can honestly say this is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed in, the photos don't do it justice. On top of that, everything has been thought through, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food was great and so was the beach. At thebtop of my list to return to.

I got stomach sick for the rest of my trip from eating fish of the day and the salad , wish I could enjoy it more

The resort is beautiful. The buildings; the gardens; the pools; the food - all spectacular. Very peaceful. Delicious food in all the restaurants!! World class buffet breakfast and dinners. The staff - some were excellent and some weren't very friendly. The gardeners, in particular, were so knowledgeable about the flowers and trees - we really enjoyed learning from them.

Swahili Beach Resort was one of the BEST resorts we have ever stayed in! The resort itself is beautiful and kept immaculate! We ate at Barharini, Zanzibar, and Majilis and they were magnificent! Top class, top rated food, even greater servers! Katana and Kimberly were always our servers at Barharini & Majilis and those women knew how to treat their guests! They were warm and charming and a true bond was formed as they always went above to make our time there special. Conny always greeted us with a beautiful smile and a nice word! Joseck was such a gifted young chef! He made the most incredible soups that you just couldn’t put the spoon down. My compliments to all the chefs at all the restaurants as the food here at Swahili is simply the best! Kelvin arranged tours and an amazing camel ride along the beach…I highly recommend this to all!!! Our party of 4 adults could not recommend Swahili enough! How do you put into words how wonderful and amazing someplace is that can paint a picture for the world? I guess the only answer is to GO!!! Stay at Swahili Beach Resort and enjoy the luxury!!! R

Beautiful property and rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Overall, the food could do with improvement, for example nachos were literally Doritos or something similar, with nothing on them, and everything else mixed into a cup to dip into. Saying that, food at Zanzibar, spice route and some of the breakfast options were very good. Lots of quirks though! Only one restaurant was open for lunch, and even being low season, food took up to 1 hr 45 minutes to arrive, with no real explanation. Same when their system showed us checking out a day sooner than actual, no real reason was provided as to why. Lots of cats, many are strays or kittens, and all should be spayed or neutered.

The property had all the hallmarks of a four star resort. However, there are a few things that will need attention. The cleaning staff was late in the evening, although there weren’t many guests there. And they used too much disinfectant in the room. I had the oysters at the beach restaurant which gave me a very bad stomach virus. And the Japanese restaurant did not make sushi or sashimi. In Hindsight, it was better that I didn’t eat it there. The spa was a shining star. The staff was great and did a wonderful job. (Please fix the saña. That would have been a plus.

My husband and I really enjoyed honeymooning at Swahili Beach resort. The service was exceptional and the food options were very delicious. Please note that there is no all-inclusive drink package so drinks you do have to pay for a la carte. Very nice amenities and beautiful room. Beach access directly in front of the resort and a lovely spa. We would definitely recommend staying here! There are monkeys in the area so just be mindful of leaving room windows open or food unattended near the swimming pool areas (monkeys are fast!).
