Hampton by Hilton Torquay

Some hotels you stay in look a bit dated. This hotel was refreshingly up to date and extremely clean. Lovely spacious bedroom and bathroom Staff we spoke to were very polite and friendly. Good choice of food for Breakfast. Although there is no car park, the Harbour car park is just arpund the corner and you can get a 4 or 8 day permit which enables you to park in any Torbay Council car park. Will go back to Torquay and no hesitation in booking this hoteal again.

The complementary breakfast, friendly staff, the location of the hotel and the lift down to the harbour were amazing.

Very clean & relaxing stay. Staff are very helpful & friendly. Amazing breakfast. Having a lift down to harbour side was particularly beneficial too.

The hotel is nice a modern but a few things was not to our liking Lovely big room and bathroom but bed very hard and seemed to slope to one side of mattress didnt sleep very well windows dont open and air conditioning was so hard to get right In the evening wanted to have some food and was told couldnt have a ploughmans had no chef to prepare it i said it a cold meal only needed to put on plate but they could do jacket potatoe or pizza which had to be cooked also no desserts avalible what a joke for a big hotel chain Also no car park had to walk up steep hill at back of hotel to pay to park Staff on front desk when i asked about food was a bit rude didnt seem botherd

Great location near harbour, with easy access to buses, boat trips etc. Close to shops and restaurants. Especially liked the lift from the lobby to the street below, cutting off the steeper walk from the harbour. Hotel was clean, and the included breakfast had good selection of hot and cold items.

Brilliant from start to finish, wonderful staff, helpful, polite and nothing too much trouble. Game changer for us as my wife uses a mobility scooter was the lift direct from the lobby to the marina/main road pavement , plenty of “eateries “ and pubs if required . We had an accessible room which was spotless and excellent for our needs! Parking is not available on site but this is clearly stated on booking, we have a Blue Badge but a lot of car parks do still charge, we purchased an 8 day permit from Torbay Council for piece of mind. Breakfast was ample and from what was available daily seemed to cater for lots of dietary needs- eg cooked Breakfast, White, Brown and Gluten Free Bread, Muffins, Soya and Oat Milk, Cereals,fresh fruit, yoghurt, Danish Pastries and a Waffle Maker! An array of Teas and Coffees and juices! To work of your breakfast if required a gym is available accessed using your room key. Didn’t take many photos.

The hotel is in a good location, modern and friendly staff but on this occassion I unfortunately found a hair in my bed and a stained bath towel. I did mention to reception as I checked out so that they can follow-up.

Cleaning was not done properly not vacuum in our 5 days trip all the biscuits and snacks where still on the floor which our 2 year old baby drop every day when we came back from outside back to hotel room

After paying £170 for one night stay Then finding two suspect looking poo stains on the floor near the toilet When using the shower, an arc may be recommended as the level of water rises fast and if you’re not prepared for a biblical flood When we went to reception to complain We were told that the hotel was at full capacity and nothing could be done But she would put down that we did not make the poop stains

Overall, our stay was good. The hotel is in a perfect location, and I appreciated that breakfast and Wi-Fi were included and pet friendly. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. As an asthmatic with allergies, I am particularly sensitive to dust, and unfortunately, the room had not been cleaned to an acceptable standard. There was visible dust on the wardrobe floor, the TV, the bed headboard, and even along the wall bay above.

Stayed 4 nights - good points were excellent location, quiet rooms & good breakfasts. Negatives - terrible room service, thick dust on skirtings, no shower gel on day one, duvet was damp one day and bed seemed like it had been laid on. Last day was worse - pillows scrunched up, no tissues and beds left scruffy. Not what i expect from a Hampton by Hilton!

I enjoyed the stay. The room was comfortable and a good size. The shower was not up to scratch, a bit mouldy and it had no door, which I got an explanation for why it was like that way. The fridge kept heating up from the top and not working properly, which I reported, but not sure if anything was done about it. Apart from that I had a good experience, not the best.

Rooms communal areas and breakfast were all lovely. Rooms and communal areas were exceptionally clean. Lovely views at breakfast and lots of choice. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend and stay there again.

My room was unclean, marks on the duvet and unclean carpet. Took 3 requests and 5 hours to change the duvet! At breakfast 2 employees were talking and one shared that both coffee machines need cleaning, as they are full of gunk (verbatim). Upon leaving we were not ask how was our stay. Location is great though

Check-in was friendly and efficient. The room was clean, bed very comfortable, and bathroom spotless. Breakfast in the morning was a great selection which covered all tastes and appetites. Overall, with a good central location, I'd stay here again without hesitation. Recommended.

Great 1 night stay. Lovely room with super king size bed. Walk in shower with shampoo conditioner and shower gel (all good quality) Fridge in room (so bring your own drinks, snacks) Fantastic free breakfast - cooked, pastries, make your own waffles - great selection! Will stay again if can get similar rate to what we paid

The hotel was nice and staff good. Breakfast was excellent. But could not open window for sleeping and no instructions how to get fresh air in the room. I asked in reception and had a very bland nothing we can do about it response.

Lovely hotel. Good breakfast options. Clean rooms. Convenient location. Room much larger than expected.

Room ok albeit the bed was hard. The staff were too busy chatting to engage with me on arrival and on departure I was also felt an inconvenience.

Great break great beds good service and ideally located We have used this hotel several times now and are already booked again for 5 weeks time

Staff very rude not helpful

Booked very last minute for a room for myself and two children. First room had an awful smell, second room was fine but called reception twice to have the sofa bed made up, no one arrived. Had to sleep with no duvet on the hard sofa. Luckily I needed to be up very early anyway and didn’t need a good sleep. Carpark opposite walking distance but a bit moody and dark stairs.

Great value stay, within walking distance (5mins) from bars ,restaurants and harbour. Breakfast 5 stars one of the best I have experienced, everything on the menu,and included in the price. Best thing about this hotel is the team, you could see they weren't at full staffing but they worked so hard to keep everyone happy. Don't hesitate to book !

Hampton by Hilton are a good standard of hotels and I have never had any issues before until Tom the manager! Rude patronising belligerent and cocky would be and under statement. I arrived late at 8pm and I apologised for not letting them know. I was tired and hungry. I was informed I had to give my credit card and a charge of £1.10 would be held against it for incidentals like food and drink. I explained it was a secure company credit card that I only used for bookings. I was going to pay cash for all foods. This is when Tom started.....I can't check you in without a credit card being taken and we do not take cash for anything.....I said I wish I knew that beforehand he then raised his voice saying it's on the website did you not read it! I asked him to show me but he said he was far too busy and he would cancel my room if I didn't like it. A hotel guest then stepped up saying I could use his card as he heard Tom shouting at me and I could give him the cash and Tom shouted at him saying the credit card was to cover if I wreaked my room! I am 58 years old and just wanted some food and get to sleep. With the threat of cancellation I was forced to hand over my card details against my company's policy. My key was dropped on the counter and he turned away. I ate out at a fantastic Thai who were happy for cash and spoke to the senior day manager the following morning. She apologised and rolled her eyes when talking about Tom's attitude again and would talk to him again!

I stayed here overnight with my sister to see a show in Torquay. The hotel is in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the harbour, theater, shops and car parks. The room was well presented and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. My only down side was that the hairdryer in the room was extremely slow so I couldn't use it!

Great location, very close to harbour and restaurant. Our second stop here, it won't be the last.

Actual property was great but location was exhausting. Situated on a very steep location it certainly isn't the place to go if you struggle walking

The hotel was good but the surrounding area is very run down with lots of begging in the streets. The facade of the hotel is not as depicted. The palms shown in the advertising are no longer there. Parking was in a local council car park which was understood, but parking was dearer than advised.. No street parking available other than metered. Torquay very run down and grubby.

My daughter and I went to visit family and have to say this was the best hotel by far that we have stayed in whilst in Torquay. (we have used many over the years) They had thought of everything and the attention to detail was superb. I am Gluten Free, the breakfast area had GF bread and cereal well away from any cross contamination with a dedicated toaster just for GF bread. Will definitely stay again in the future.

Great hotel with friendly professional staff. Only slight criticism was the limited supply of tea/coffee facilities (we actually purchased additional tea and milk in a local shop for our stay). Breakfast was good but could have been warmer. Would go again.

One of the best and newest hotels in the area. Clean and comfy. Only complaining about breakfast as I feel it does not marry up with the rest of the hotel. No fried eggs, coffee could be much better, pastries were nice-ish but could improve a lot. For family with kids the Make your own Waffles is a great addition though!

A real mixed bag. The hotel is generally ok. Pretty standard chain place. Our room wasn't properly cleaned though (we found toenails on the carpet) and breakfast was really poor - they ran out of something (milk, eggs, porridge...) long before breakfast was meant to finish. Not an awful experience by any means but would struggle to recommend.

Few minutes walk to harbour. Bus stop to babbacombe few minutes walk Very good choice breakfast options . It is buffet serve yourself. Very good coffee machine and selection of teas even make waffles. Clean room white fluffy towel’s complimentary toiletries . Choice 2 shower heads. We loved it wouldn’t hesitate to return

Superb stay and hotel + breakfast, normally use premier inns this was better.
