Location: Perfect for us. Almost equidistant between Bowness and Windermere village, with easy access to both Orrest Head and Brant Fell walks, and restaurants at both ends. Parking: Easy parking just outside for 3 cars, with additional 4 parking spaces near a bus shelter almost opposite of the lodge. Hosts(s): Lovely welcome by Rich who was always around when needed, yet not intrusive at all. Room: We had an upgrade to the large king room (Room 3 called "Windermere") on the ground floor. Excellent room - spacious, very clean, well furnished, easily movable TV (allowing viewing from both from the sofa and the bed), fresh milk in the small fridge, and coffee and tea making facilities. Breakfast: Lovely breakfast room, with a good choice of cooked breakfast (choices communicated the day before), fruit, cereal and juices. We enjoyed well cooked Eggs Royale every day. Overall, an excellent stay and we will be happy to return back to St John's Lodge.

Great hotel, would stay again. Owners couldn’t do enough for us - they hung our wet items in the drying cupboard, they brought us extra towels upon request, they were knowledgeable about the local area. Our room was very cosy and cute. Breakfast was good with a wide range of choices. We went to the off site swimming pool once and it wasn’t anything special, just a typical everyday gym and pool - jacuzzi out of order. Overall would definitely recommend for a short stay in Windermere.

Stayed here several times in various rooms. Warm, cosy, quiet rooms & en suite bathrooms have everything you need, if not, just ask Rich or Julie & they will gladly accommodate you. Staff are superb. Very knowledgable about the area & free access to the local health club with free parking is great. Local shops, restaurants & bars etc. are only a few minutes walk either side of the property with bus stops on the doorstep. Sleapt very well every time & great choice of breakfasts, can not fault it. Will gladly stay again.

Chose this due to the location And the benefits of the health spa We were disappointed that the health spa was not on site as when booking it was advertised but this has been changed On arrival the hosts are most accommodating and very friendly, Property is outstandingly clean through out . Breakfast has a lot of choices which is nice and very good quality My only gripe is not a fan of pre ordering and specific times

A good location, great breakfast and friendly hosts combined for a lovely stay. I used the health club and went at a quite busy time (after work slot), I would advise visiting outside the peak hours if you can. Facilities at the gym/spa were great, it was just busy and not as clean etc as a result. Overall a great stay and will stay again next time i am in the area.

This little B&B in Windermere has standards of comfort and service which could rival a 5* international hotel. Before we arrived I received a call from Rich to confirm our arrival time. The room was clean, comfortable and appointed to a very high standard. The Breakfast selection was second to none, with lots of freshly cooked options - and all dietary requirements catered for. I would have no hesitation in recommending this B&B for an upmarket stay. It is within easy walking distance of Windermere centre with dining and transport options. I used the off-site health club which was about a 5 minute drive away.

St Johns lodge is located conveniently to various amenities around bowness and windermere. rooms and facilities are top notch. Hosts Rich and Ada took personal interest to ensure the stay went well. Excellent breakfast. cherry on top was the free offsite spa facilities we had access after a long tiring hike.

From to start to finish excellent service . Room comfy clean.even little fridge in room to house fresh daily milk. Breakfasts out of this world 24 cooked items to choose from. Vegan/vegetarian too. Cereals. Fruit. Juices. 20 mins walk from Windermere lake. And restaurants about 20 opposite direction. Access to off site leisure facility with 15m pool, jacuzzi, sauna & steam room. If u feel energetic gym room too.if u fancied a massage they do these at extra costs. Owner Rich was very helpful. If you wanted flowers or choc for special occasions he can help arrange that. We would highly recommend this place

The attention to detail was second to none. The hosts were very attentive with prepared routes and even bus maps ready to help us plan our days out. We used the included health club located 5 mins drive away, it was perfect after our long walks. Would highly recommend.

Excellent location for walking into Windermere and Bowness. Very clean and comfortable room with everything provided for a short stay. The fridge and fresh milk for tea was really appreciated. The breakfast was delicious. Huge amount of cooked options and everything of a high quality.

We really enjoyed our stay at St John's. We had a large room which was very clean and beautifully decorated, The breakfast is excellent with a large choice cooked to order as well as a cold buffet. The location is ideal for Windermere with the lakeside and all local shops and restaurants in walking distance. The parking is a little restricted but we did not have any issues during our stay.

Lovely and spotless guest house, ideally situated between Windermere and Bowness. Rich was very informative and very helpful. Lovely fresh breakfast with lots of choice. Thanks for a great 3 days would highly recommend.

Rich was so helpful and the breakfast was delicious. The whole place is spotless I really don't know how he keeps everywhere so clean .Also the attention to detail, a fridge, fresh milk, good toiletries ,cotton buds etc I can't praise the place enough.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Saint Johns lodge We had a small double room which was very nice Very clean with nice decor The breakfast is amazing with good quality local produce Rich the owner is very helpful and nothing is too much bother I would definitely recommend this hotel

This property is on the Lake Road, a main road that runs from Windermere to Bowness. Bus stops are nearby and fairly frequent and can take you into nearby Windermere, if you don't want to walk, or other parts of the Lake District eg Grasmere. The property itself is lovely, slightly rustic, but I like that 'home from home' feel. Our room (Kingsize) was very well laid out, had useful amenities and quite comfortable. One small gripe, which Richard warned us about, is the wardrobe not closing properly, and it didn't 😞, hopefully it's fixed by now. Breakfast was a feast of pastries, cereal, yoghurt, fruit juices and fresh fruit and a menu for additional hot choices. I couldn't finish my breakfast on the last day (a brekkie kebab), so Ada kindly wrapped it for me to take away. No complaints at all. Thank you Rich and Ada for making our stay very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for either of you and you and you were both extremely helpful when we asked for information and advice. Adrian & Jo

For the the very beginning to the end, our stay at St Johns Lodge was amazing. We were welcomed in an extremely friendly way, with personal service from the very go. We had been given a free uograde to the supreme king room and what ablively room it is, clean, comfy bed, good sized tv and very nice bathroom. The bed was so comfy my wife fell asleep at 930pm( the walking and wine may also have contributed to this!!!) Breakfast was gorgeous, i had full english and the wife bacon, eggs and has browns, all washed down with as much fruit juice or tea and coffee as you wanted. There was also a cold buffet of fruit, cereals and yogurts. This place is perfect for a nice walk up to Windermere or a stroll down to Bowness and all the restaurants, pubs and activitelies. All in all a fantastic stay and will defo book here again.

On arrival, Rich welcomed us and ran through everything we needed to know for our stay by running through the welcome pack. There was a wee bit of confusion with the payment but it was quickly resolved with no further issues. The B&B was in a fab location as it is a 10 minute walk from Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere, both of which are great with plenty of restaurant choices. The breakfast was brilliant with plenty of choice! They're big portions so it'll definitely set you up for a day of exploring! The room was clean and had everything we needed for chilling out after a day of exploring. The only negative for me was that the bed and pillows were a wee bit hard but that's just me! The room was quiet and everything else was fab! I ordered a bottle of prosecco for arrival for my husband's birthday and it was set out on the bed for us with towels made into swans for us arriving in the room which was a lovely touch. We would definitely stay here again in future as it was in an ideal location, had everything we needed and the hosts were very attentive and overall fab. Thank you!!

We stayed in this lovely guest house for two nights as we were attending a family funeral. We arrived at about 3pm on the first day and were greeted by a lovely lady who explained where everything was and showed us to our room. We had a king room which was absolutely huge, with a massive, very comfortable bed, a large and comfy sofa, a large bathroom with an excellent shower and a really big TV on a rotating wall bracket (to make it watchable from anywhere in the room). We also had a small fridge in the room, tea and coffee making facilities (plus biscuits and hot chocolate), bottles of water and fresh milk in the fridge. You're asked to let the hosts know when you would like breakfast and to text your hot order through the afternoon before, which was a good idea and worked well for us. There was a huge choice for breakfast, anything from a full English, to eggs Benedict and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. The portions were large and it was cooked as soon as you got into the dining room. There was a big selection of cold breakfast items too, which you could help yourself to; this included cereals, yoghurts, fruit, cheese, croissants, meats and several juices. Toast was brought to you and tea and coffee were in constant supply. We actually didn't have anything from the cold buffet as there was more than plenty in the cooked option. I think there were actually over 20 items you could choose from for the hot option. All in all, a brilliant stay and excellent hospitality!

My 8 year old daughter and I loved our stay at St John’s Lodge. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was cosy and well maintained. The games in the guest lounge along with the honesty fridge were a great touch. The breakfast was amazing. Kept us going alll day. We will be back.

I booked this last minute and so glad I came across it. Booked King but got free upgrade to large King. Everything excellent, very comfortable, quiet, clean, plenty of extras in room including bottled milk in fridge, two bottles water, cotton wool and buds as well as the usual shower gel, shampoo, conditior soap, and an extra nice touch wine glasses in room. Host very friendly and informative, folder provided with lots of information on local area. Mini bar with honesty box available in lounge. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. Great location in quieter area inbetween busy bowness and windermere and we parked right outside front door, no charge. Could not fault it at all and would definitely stay here again :)

What a wonderful hotel. Greated by the owner when we arrived, explained everything about the hotel, offered to help us with the local area if we didn’t know how to get around. 3 nights at St Johns Lodge. The Host was very helpful. Explained everything we needed to know, as well as offering info about the wider area. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic. Our stay couldn’t have been better. Right from arrival, we felt relaxed and welcomed, which set the tone for the entire visit. The level of hospitality was outstanding — Rich truly made a difference and went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect. The accommodation was impeccably clean and very well cared for; it’s obvious a lot of thought and pride goes into maintaining the space. We also really appreciated the breakfast option — the quality was excellent and a great way to start the day. If you’re planning a trip to the Lake, this is without a doubt the place to stay. We’ll be returning here every time we’re in the area and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

A curious though adequate place, at times we felt as though we were a bit of an inconvenience - we got stuck in traffic so a couple of hours later than predicted - greeted with ‘oh, you were meant to be here earlier but we’ll take your breakfast order anyway’ (must be in before 6pm, it was nearer 7). We were told and show. The lounch with honesty bar. We weren’t told it’s locked - yes locked - at 10. We arrived back from dinner at 3 minutes past to find this out. The following night it was closed by 9.55pm. Breakfast was good but it really lacked the ambience or conviviality which would have improved the stay

We enjoyed a fabulous week end. Rich & Ada were very friendly and helpful, giving lots of advice for getting around, places to visit, including walks to enjoy starting from the hotel. Our room was lovely and the extensive breakfast menu gave fantastic choice.

Stayed at the St John’s Lodge for 2 nights and was very impressed. Rich the Owner Manager gave us an upgrade, the room was superb and comfortable with everything we needed. The breakfasts we had were excellent, the choice was great. Would fully recommend this B&B to others and we will certainly be back.

This property is on the Lake Road, a main road that runs from Windermere to Bowness. Bus stops are nearby and fairly frequent and can take you into nearby Windermere, if you don't want to walk, or other parts of the Lake District eg Grasmere. The property itself is lovely, slightly rustic, but I like that 'home from home' feel. Our room (Kingsize) was very well laid out, had useful amenities and quite comfortable. One small gripe, which Richard warned us about, is the wardrobe not closing properly, and it didn't 😞, hopefully it's fixed by now. Breakfast was a feast of pastries, cereal, yoghurt, fruit juices and fresh fruit and a menu for additional hot choices. I couldn't finish my breakfast on the last day (a brekkie kebab), so Ada kindly wrapped it for me to take away. No complaints at all. Thank you Rich and Ada for making our stay very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for either of you and you and you were both extremely helpful when we asked for information and advice. Adrian & Jo

Wonderful stay. Rich and staff were especially responsive to my needs, going out of their way to help. Room 3 is fantastic and the breakfasts were superb. Try the salmon bagel! Will return.

Chose this due to the location And the benefits of the health spa We were disappointed that the health spa was not on site as when booking it was advertised but this has been changed On arrival the hosts are most accommodating and very friendly, Property is outstandingly clean through out . Breakfast has a lot of choices which is nice and very good quality My only gripe is not a fan of pre ordering and specific times

A good location, great breakfast and friendly hosts combined for a lovely stay. I used the health club and went at a quite busy time (after work slot), I would advise visiting outside the peak hours if you can. Facilities at the gym/spa were great, it was just busy and not as clean etc as a result. Overall a great stay and will stay again next time i am in the area.

The property was within walking distance of Windermere and Bowness. The hotel was spotless as were the rooms with some lovely personal touches. The breakfast was amazing with a choice of 24 hot options, you just had to order by 6.30pm the night before. On top of that there was cereals, fresh fruit, cheese, yoghurt, toast, fruit juice, tea and coffee - absolutely superb. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Lake District.

Excellent location within a short walk to local shops, restaurants and Windermere lake. The breakfast was lovely and adapted to dietary requirements. Rich and Ada were welcoming hosts, approachable and had knowledge of the area. Thank you very much we had such a wonderful stay.
Excellent location within a short walk to local shops, restaurants and Windermere lake. The breakfast was lovely and adapted to dietary requirements. Rich and Ada were welcoming hosts, approachable and had knowledge of the area. Thank you very much we had such a wonderful stay.
