The Grand Stark is a wonderful renovated vintage hotel that has maintained the vintage feel while modernizing. If you like supporting vintage establishments, you will love it! We used the valet parking and that is great and convenient. The day and evening staffs are very efficient and friendly! The only drawback is that there is no restaurant attached for breakfast. However, we found a very nice and typically Portland breakfast place only a 5 minute walk away: The J&M Cafe at 357 SE Ash St Portland!

Great value. They have done a tasteful job renovating this historic building. Not luxurious but thoughtful, practical and comfortable, which are my primary requirements.

The hotel was great. There was a vibey bar next door. The surrounding neighborhood is a little rough.

Creepy nut jobs roamed the area. A front desk worker came out when one was trying to get money from us. Overall, it was a fine place to stay for a show at Renaissance Hall. Major complaints would be that the bed is super low, and the coffee maker is pretty janky, though the coffee is great. The body wash was empty, and the safe was broken. Overall fine for the price.
