Old Riga Romantic Loft

The apartment is generally run down. The furniture is older. We didn’t have enough towels, although there were a number of wet ones left on a drying rack when we arrived - we weren’t sure whether they were clean or just used. There was no hot water, so we emailed the owner but got no answer. We called on the second day and finally got a response. It turns out that instructions on how to turn on the hot water heater were supposed to be in the apartment but were not. Prior to check in, I had emailed questions directly and through Hotels.com but go no answer to my emails in the run up to our stay. The property is not expensive and it housed all six of us, but towels and hot water are a basic necessity for any apartment. If you send an email address for communication you should respond to it.

We loved the apartment. The kitchen and bathroom could do with an upgrade, but current state was not an issue. For us it wasn’t intuitive how to turn on the heating of the water, but a quick call with the contact number solved that easily (the thought it was in the house rules, but it wasn’t). Would definitely recommend and would without hesitation stay there again.

Family friendly

We had booked this apartment for 5 nights, but we left after one night. Mold in the shower, nasty beds, Dirty carpets etc. No working smoke detector, We complained to the host about this immediately, but no answer. Faint smell of urine, that was tried hidden with very heavy perfume. Only positive we can say is that it has a good location. We will NOT be back.
