Akumal Natura

This was our first time glamping, so we did not know what to expect when we arrived. We were welcomed immediately by Jose, whose personality alone told us we would enjoy our time there. The property is stunning. It has two cenotes, one with a fish spa. We saw a variety of animals during our stay iguanas, spider monkeys, a raccoon, the beautiful pet cat, and some street dogs. The tent was spacious with a fan. The attached bathroom at the back of the tent was semi open, but stayed surprisingly clean. The only issue we ran into with the room was it raining the first night and there was a small leak in the roof onto our luggage. Off Spray was an absolute must during the entirety of our stay. We ate at the on-site restaurant several times and used it as a lounging area in between activities. The staff were all very caring and friendly. You HAVE to take the rescue tour with Cesar. It completely changed the meaning of us glamping on the property. It rounded out the entire experience. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend staying here!

Ventilator wasn't enough to cool the tent and was very lound (when it was on one could not hear the sounds of the jungle). Cenotes were lovely, we enjoyed especially the fish spa. Personnel was very friendly and helpful. There was no white wine in the restaurant, but I think it was a temporary problem 😊

It would be absolutely perfect if not for one small thing that makes all the difference in the world: lighting. The rooms have a really cool tropical rustic vibe ……. until you turn on the lights and the warm colors of palm fronds are bathed in an icy blue fluorescent light, and then you are transported to a government bureaucracy office or a Wal Mart. Other than that, we loved the place!! We really admire their mission to rehabilitate animals, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the rehabilitation facilities. The on-site cenote is lovely. I understand that the LED lightbulbs are better for the environment, but they completely kill the vibe. If they would only switch to a soft white lightbulb with a warm, it would be the perfect spot. My only other complaint is that they promise, free, bike rental, but the bikes are in such poor condition, that they are practically unusable. Several times, the chain just fell off bike.

Accommodation : The tent was awesome, nice bed. Staff were amazing and helpfull. Also the Cenote inside the property available 24/7.

Lovely location. Loved seeing the spider monkey overhead and iguanas wandering. The fishspa is something special for Noth Americans. People seemed to enjoy the monkey sanctuary. We will do that next visit.

Beautiful and peaceful 4 night stay. Extended twice. Felt like we had the place to ourselves. Two cenotes with one with lights for nighttime swimming. Delicious food at the restaurant. Ate a beautiful barramundi fish (Australia really in Mexico), decent breakfast in the morning, yoga classes, and took the Monkey Sanctuary Tour to support the conservation efforts of the owner. Great private outdoor shower, too. They bring you hot water if you need it. We even adopted one of the kittens that was living there and is now a happy member of our house in Tulum (yes we live nearby and have your company).

The property is beautiful with 2 cenotes and plenty of walking paths through nature. At the time we visited both cenotes looked really murky and not good for swimming. A fun bonus of the property is a free fish spa! They charge $25 per person for this at XelHa but at Akumal Natura you can do it for free which is super cool. The restaurant is a little pricey but everything we ate for all 3 meals was delicious. Now for the actual glamping- it’s Mexico and there is no AC so be ready for a hot, sticky and sweaty night. They gave us 2 fans but I still barely got any sleep. It was simply too hot. But I knew that going in and it was worth it for the experience. Glad it was only one night! Everyone was very kind and friendly and they even set up a tour of a nearby nature reserve that was EPIC. We saw so many animals and learned so much and then got to experience this really cool enclosed cenote. If you aren’t brave enough for a hot night of camping then at least come for the tour and eat at the restaurant.

The hospitality was very good and the concierge services were excellent. The property is set in the jungle and provides a cool and calming environment with two cenotes a central communal palapa for yoga, and other venues and few other spaces to relax. All the staff were engaging and friendly. I really felt welcome and a part of their community. A very important part of Akumal Natura is their wild animal rescue and tour is not to be missed.

Very clean, food was excellent, treated as family.

Nous avons passé 5 nuits parfaites dans ce glamping avec un ami. Expérience unique au milieu de la jungle. Accueil au top, tous le personnel adorable. Réservé aux personnes qui aime la vie dans la nature et qui n’attendent ps un confort d’un hôtel étoilé . Cependant tout est fait pour ne pas trop sentir les désavantages du camping brut : mise à dispo d eau chaude le matin, moustiquaires. Bon petit déjeuner: pain de mie, fruits, café, fromage blanc, muesly. (Nous n’avons ps manger au restaurant le reste du temps) Moi qui ne pourrait probablement pas passer une nuit dans une tente dans la jungle, ici j’ai envie d’y retourner. Donc foncez 😊

We didn't feel safe there. We were the only people there and there is road construction going on very close. There is no way to feel safe with 2 women traveling. So we left and they wouldn't refund our money. The Cenotes looked awful, and the restaurant wasn't open until 7. It was unbearably hot and the mosquitos had a field day with us, even with bug spray on.....Lets just say glamping is not for everyone and we should have felt more safe.

ABSOLUTELY WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. HOW IS IT THAT I SHOW UP TO THE PROPERTY THEY DONT EVER ANSWER THE DOOR OR THE PHONE AND NOW BEING CHARGED FOR A STAY THAT NEVER TOOK PLACE. THERE WERE PUDDLES OF FLOODED WATER EVERYWHERE AND NO MOTORCYCLE TAXI WANTED TO TAKE US THERE. ITS NOT CENTRALLY LOCATE. DO NOT BOOK HERE!!

We had an incredible stay at this glamping spot nestled deep in the lush Mexican rainforest. The location was absolutely breathtaking, offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. One of the highlights for us was the chance to see Jefferies spider monkeys up close, a subspecies we’d never encountered before. Their presence made the experience feel even more unique and connected to the natural environment. The facilities themselves were top-notch. Our tent was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, providing all the comforts we needed while still giving us that outdoor feel. The entire site was beautifully designed and very quiet, perfect for relaxing after days spent exploring the surrounding rainforest. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves at times, which added to the peaceful atmosphere. However, we did run into a bit of an issue with security. When we returned one evening, there was no staff present, and the gate to the facility was locked. After a long day, it was frustrating to have to find a way in ourselves just to get back to our tent. While it didn’t ruin our experience, we hope they improve their security arrangements for future guests. Despite that hiccup, we absolutely loved our time here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an immersive, tranquil experience in the rainforest. The combination of comfortable glamping and wildlife encounters, especially with the Jefferies spider monkeys, made it an unforgettable stay.

Solo traveler. Felt safe from day one. Staff courteous and very friendly. Accommodations met all my needs.

And when my arrival was delayed, it was easy to communicate with them via WhatsApp. The resident cat. Comfortable rooms with ensuite bathrooms. The semi-outdoor shower in the bathroom. Our visit to the animal rescue. Bicycles you can borrow. Although the menu lists separate breakfast and dinner menus, I asked for an omelette at dinner and they gladly made one. What I didn't love, but still liked it: Cold shower - to be fair, the info page does mention this, I just didn't read carefully enough. Not actually as isolated in the jungle as you think. I could hear some neighbor's music late into the night, but not in a fun, enjoy the music kind of way. Earplugs helped. The bathroom was just a bit more rustic than I expected. It was still fine and functional. The friend I traveled with was initially a bit skeptical, because she is accustomed to sales conferences in fancy, chain hotels. Our stay, and the staff, won her over. She loved staying "somewhere different" and she loved our visit to the animal rescue. One note, the lead photo on Expedia is misleading. Akumal Natura is not on or near the beach.

No hay agua caliente. Para bañarte con agua caliente tienes que pedir un termo y bañarte a cubetazos. No avisan eso antes de reservar. Tampoco hay wifi en las habitaciones.

Le camping est bien pour une nuit, plus je ne recommande pas. Heureusement pour nous, arriver à l’accueil pour la 1er fois, ils nous précisent que nous avons la chance d’avoir la chambre vip donc avec eau chaude. Attention lors de votre réservation car ce n’est pas précisé. Le camping est censé être au calme hors nous avons eu de la musique toute la nuit. Personnel très agréable et gentils, par contre la responsable peut se remettre en question, désagréable.

To be honest I was a little nervous about glamping but it was one of our favorite stays to date. The accommodations were super comfortable and the food/drinks were amazing. Cesar and team showed true hospitality and we hope to come back soon!

Really enjoyed our stay. Staff were very attentive. Bed were comfortable and food in the restaurant was excellent. Also enjoyed the tour of the rescue sanctuary with our very knowledgeable guide.

Wifi in the rooms does not work. It's located no where near the beach despite the beautiful image they show of a beach. Lot's of bugs. Owners not very nice. We made a last minute reservation to enjoy a night of relaxing in the jungle with internet. We had been without internet for a week. And they just put up an image of their guests using wifi in their rooms. But the wifi is atrocious. So it was a big waste of time and money. We didn't want to use their restaurant. Bugs are everywhere and if you plan to be there you'll want to bring a six pack of spray hahaha!! Otherwise the place is great ;)

El hotel es cómodo y tiene buenas instalaciones, sin embargo están construyendo el tren maya justo atrás de la propiedad. Deberían comentarlo antes de hacer la reserva. No es posible dormir ya que los trabajos empiezan en la noche.

We highly recommend that you take the monkey sanctuary tour with Cesar as a guide. Without his enthusiasm and knowledge, you won't see the true value of this place. The glamping was romantic and fun. Our place was close to private lovely cenote Great value if you can get here by car or cheap transport. Not convenient location.

Tout était parfait, la cuisine excellente et personnel très sympa ! La seule chose serait de diminuer l’entrée au rescue center pour les personnes de l’hôtel et proposer un petit tour à moindre coût.

Absolutely beautiful! The most peaceful and relaxing place, stunning cenotes and the best of nature in this jungle oasis. Staff was so friendly and the food was great. It was very safe and quiet. I especially loved the outdoor swing under the trees.
