If we had known about this hotel earlier, we would have made it our main base in Kyoto. The location is extremely convenient, with easy access to both bus and train lines, and plenty of dining options in the surrounding area. The hotel itself is excellent and clearly very popular. The onsen is superb—spanning multiple floors—and the property offers a number of thoughtful extras, including complimentary ramen from 9 to 11 p.m., which was a fun and welcome touch. Overall, we were truly glad to have stayed here. It’s a fantastic, well-located hotel that makes exploring Kyoto effortless.

I accidentally booked the wrong kind of room, but the staff there was quick to fix my mistake and put us in a room that could accommodate 2 people. The lobby is huge, which is nice because there were so many people coming in/out. They give you a locker to put your shoes in, as you cannot wear shoes in the hotel. We stayed in a room with 2 twin beds that I thought was pretty large by Japanese hotel standards. The onsen was open during most day time hours; of note, people are not allowed to have tattoos when you go into them. There are free sweet treats and free late night ramen available as well. We prepaid for breakfast, and I am so glad we did because it was the best hotel breakfast I ever had. There was an option to add breakfast to your stay if you initially did not have it included in your reservation. Washing clothes was free, but drying them was 100 yen per cycle. The hotel is located in a quieter part of the city a few blocks away from the canal, where there is a really nice walking/running/biking trail. Although it is in a quieter part of the city, there are a lot of restaurants/cafes nearby. Also very close to the Kyoto station and Shichijo station. I would 100% recommend staying here if you were to visit Kyoto!

The best feature about this hotel was the walkable convenience to the train station and many eateries in the area. The free ramen was great as a late night snack but definitely not enough for a dinner meal. We enjoyed the free ice cream at night and complimentary hot beverages. The only drawback was the consistent use of the massage chairs and busy onsen. I would definitely stay again in the future but would probably opt for a quieter space/room.

The hotel provides a lot of services and complimentary items as part of your stay, it was very enjoyable. The men’s onsen had many bath options to choose from. There was a relaxation room with cold snacks for afterwards. The hotel provides tattoo covers for smaller tattoos, but if you have a big one you won’t be able to use the onsen. There were massage pods too, but I didn’t get to try it because it was always busy when I went. The breakfast buffet had lots of options and a mix of traditional Japanese as well as western style items. Would stay here again when I’m in Kyoto next.

The hotel itself has an amazing onsen, free noodles starting at 9pm till 11pm every night. Free ice cream and yogurt drink at scheduled hours throughout the day. Upon entering, your shoes need to be store in a locker, the whole complex is no shoes and you walk around with your socks or bare feet. They don’t have a proper luggage storage room & therefore, stored them in their lobby. Checking in was easy, staffs are very helpful! I would warn you, the hotel is very very busy with lots of tourists, the only time I can find a quiet and peaceful onsen experience was right at 3pm till 5pm when everyone is out exploring, then again at 7am till 10am. After 6pm, the onsen is crowded and can get loud as some tourists do talk while they are in there. If you want a real experience go during non peak hours. Make sure you cover up your tattoos for the onsen, or you can’t go in, they only give out 2 stickers per person, not very big stickers. The staffs are amazing and some spoke English, very helpful & kind. Our room was a bit dusty & floor didn’t seem like it was vacuum well, but maybe because they were so busy, the hotel was at full capacity.

Staff, amenities and one of the best hotels we have ever been. Hot spring from 3pm to the next morning at 10am with free popsicles all day long. They even serve dessert in the afternoon and free dessert, and hot soba noodles starting at 9 PM. Hotel is very clean. You take off your shoes once you walk into the hotel, and you can wear your socks or barefoot. And a hot spring experience is great.

Overall it was a good experience. I felt like it could have been cleaner. They did sweep (lint roller) the floors throughout the day but I didn’t see anyone sanitize it. The carpet in the elevators weren’t cleaned for 4 days. The massage chairs were nice but were also pretty dirty. I didn’t try the breakfast as it seemed overpriced and typically there was a line to get in. The coffee/matcha machine was nice and laundry was great. I picked this hotel as I thought being close to the train station was ideal but in hindsight, I wish I would have stayed further north as we ended up ubering back and forth from that area everyday.

The stay was absolutely surreal. Breakfast was worth the extra $20/pp USD so don't skip. The Onsen was a really neat experience and the body & hair products were literally top notch. The only complaint are the pillows. They are really bad. Luckily walking 20k steps means you can sleep on the ground you are so tired. Would stay again but maybe buy a pillow. Like for real for real.

Loved this Japanese style hotel. The hot spring bath was excellent as was the breakfast. Little perks like free ice cream and drinks throughout the day made it so enjoyable. I would have rated this as an excellent hotel if there was no issue with their wifi which is non existent no matter what time of day. Forced us to use up our data plan very quickly.

The Onyado is a good choice for families who want to do the onsen experience with their kids combined with a hotel stay. Capsule hotels are usually off limits for younger kids, while co-ed onsen places require swimwear and don't offer the full experience in a kid-friendly environment. If your kid wants to leave soon after arriving - no big deal as you can just return to your hotel room. The Onyado offers this experience but it is a big hotel - there are large numbers of guests arriving and leaving each day so the lobby can get busy and somewhat impersonal - although the staff are clearly doing their best. The onsen wasn't too busy on any of the times we visited, which was surprising given how many guests seem to be staying at the hotel. The hotel offers free use of massage chairs, pre-packaged ice cream bars in the evening and free pro-biotic drinks in the morning. We skipped breakfast as the extra charge seemed hefty compared to going outside. Wi-Fi internet was lackluster - I had to switch my phone back to LTE to get things moving and had to disconnect/reconnect on my laptop to get a stronger signal. Room size is pretty decent and nicely done but we could hear kids in our neighbors rooms or above/below us. The kids had a great time, but out personal preference I think I would choose a smaller hotel, if can I find one that also offers a true, even basic onsen experience.

Hervorragendes Hotel mit tollem Service Ich war von meinem Aufenthalt rundum begeistert. We stayed for 3 nights and it was wonderful. The onsen was amazing. It is tattoo friendly to a point. You're only given 2 med sized cover ups. So if you're fully tattooed, then its really not for you. They provide free massage chairs, ice cream and ramen at night. Unfortunately it was pork based broth so we weren't able to try. I would highly recommend the place. Easy access to Kyoto Station.

This hotel is very impressive! It’s located near the Kyoto station, around 5 mins walk. The room is spacious, clean and have everything you needed. The breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. It offers a lot of variety option including fresh tempura and sashimi, etc. The hot spring is also very good which includes 4-5 pools. The hotel also offers free coffee at the lobby, ramen from 9-11pm as well as ice creams. I will definitely come back!

I specifically booked this hotel because it did not say anything about people with tattoos not being allowed in the onsen. We arrived and guess what…. No tattoos allowed! I did find out after some inquiring that the hotel will provide you with 2 complimentary tattoo cover films. But they do not tell you this, you have to ask and the coverings are about 3”X4” and if you need any more you will have to purchase them at the Don Quixote store a few blocks away. If you have several tattoos or a back piece that can get rather expensive. Later found out that you can order them from Amazon as well. Either way, it would have been good to know ahead of time. The hotel was nice, unfortunately was also very busy. The onsen was packed in the evening so we opted for going very early the next morning and that was better as was only 2 other people in there then. Massage chairs and yogurt was also nice. I would skip the free noodles at night as they were nothing special and I really didn’t like them. I did really like the no shoes policy in the hotel and loved the little socks.

We stayed in a room with 2 twin beds that I thought was pretty large by Japanese hotel standards. The onsen was open during most day time hours; of note, people are not allowed to have tattoos when you go into them. There are free sweet treats and free late night ramen available as well. We prepaid for breakfast, and I am so glad we did because it was the best hotel breakfast I ever had. There was an option to add breakfast to your stay if you initially did not have it included in your reservation. Washing clothes was free, but drying them was 100 yen per cycle. The hotel is located in a quieter part of the city a few blocks away from the canal, where there is a really nice walking/running/biking trail. Although it is in a quieter part of the city, there are a lot of restaurants/cafes nearby. Also very close to the Kyoto station and Shichijo station. I would 100% recommend staying here if you were to visit Kyoto!

This hotel is a tourist dream! The staff were accommodating and the place was extremely clean. The morning breakfast was incredible—fresh fish, a huge variety and a great system so you can wait in your room until a table is ready. Family of 2 adults and 2 10yo—- great location to Kyoto Station— we will return!

Hotellet ligger bra i förhållande till Kyotos station. Rummet var helt ok, trots att sängen inte är särskilt mjuk sov jag bra. Frukosten är intressant och omfattande, helt japansk stil. Min invändning mot frukosten är att matsalen och upplägget inte är dimensionerat för antalet gäster. Vi dök upp kl 07:00 (när det anges att det är minst folk) men det tog ändå 40 minuter innan vi kunde sätta oss och börja äta. Vid halv tio var det 54 sällskap i kö utanför till frukosten. Spabadet är i sig fint med flera olika våningar och bassänger men även där var det helt för mycket folk. Det var kö till duschen och till att föna håret och en kväll var nästan alla skåp upptagna. Man får inte ha skor på sig inomhus vilket är för oss var ovanligt men ok, dock var städningen i hissarna inte tillräckligt bra. Personalen är väldigt trevlig och hjälpsam. Det finns gratis kaffe, dricka samt glass under hela dagen och gratis soppa serveras på kvällen. Det finns tvättmaskiner och torktumlare som kan användas dygnet runt.
