The property is on top of mountain with stunning mountain and sunset view. Room is very clean. Onsite restaurant and hiking trails. Front desk is very helpful and friendly. Playground right in front of the property for kids to enjoy!

Fantastic hotel, close to both Monteverde and Santa Elena nature reserves and a short walk in to town! The service at the hotel was fantastic, everyone was so so helpful from helping book trips to providing superb food, the restaurant on site is next level! The on site nature reserve was stunning, a beautiful waterfall and trail, we’d highly recommend the night tour! Sunset was also incredible from the hotel! Cannot recommend highly enough

My friend and I loved our stay at Valle Escondido. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and the property is gorgeous. The views and the trails on the reserve are unmatched. The restaurant's food was also some of the best I've ever had. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Amazing property tucked away. Excellent breakfast in area with beautiful view. Butterfly garden 5 min walk. Staff is friendly. Do eat at farm to table restaurant. Hike around property is very peaceful with serene scenery. Will stay again.

Beautiful location, close to the Curi cachi and Monteverdi cloud forest. Room basic but nice. Restaurant is nice. farm to table with permaculture program. Grounds and hiking area with waterfall are gorgeous!

We like this place as the room is clean and the view from the restaurant is fantastic! It's a very nice property with trails and waterfalls to walk around. It's quietly located but still convenient to go to the town area. We enjoyed the hammock garden a lot!

Hotel property approach road is very very Bad. The Room was an utter disspointment, Dirty, multicolored and Stinking towels , Cracked Floors , cracked Cups , No TV , No AC , No Heater. Bathrooms felt unclean , old and unmaintained. We all felt cheated for the room rent we were charged. our compaint to the front desk was smirked off. While our breakfast was Included in the room tarrif , Staff was unfriendly and made us feel as if we were fed for free, refills were charged exorbitent for the quantity served. Overall , Except for the Nature and trails outside the property everything else inside the rooms is quite shady. We were given a junior suite at ground floor.

The property is set in a beautiful location. The restaurant on the property was good, but it took a while for the food to arrive. Our biggest complaint for the property was that when we went to the bed, we found our bed towards the foot to be wet, and had a musty smell. It seems there might have been some leak in the room. By the time we realized the bed was wet, the office had already closed, so we couldn’t get help. We wanted to love the property because it is set in a beautiful location and we loved the idea of farm to table meal. Also, the night walk was great. Unfortunately, the wet bed and musty smelling towels in the bathroom makes it unlikely that we would return.

Beautiful views. Comfortable rooms. Mostly good breakfasts. Quiet location away from the busy roads of town. Great Trails of the rainforests with animals and birds (I saw some monkeys). Room lacked TV. I like fresh fruit with breakfast, and I was disappointed with the amount of fruit. Otherwise,the breakfasts were good. Don't keep food in the room as the ants will find it (they don't spray to be more ecologically minded).

Really nice friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious. Their food is grown on their premises. There is a very large impressive forest with waterfalls on their grounds for hiking. Mold in the bathroom. Which seems to be common in CR. But the good news is that since there isn’t AC at this hotel the mold didn’t go into the bedroom. We kept the windows open. Easy parking lot. Beautiful open outdoor grass garden area with seats to watch the view from above and see birds and sunset.

We loved our stay! Their breakfast was very delicious. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The view spectacular! Their on site restaurant was delicious just a little pricey. The staff was very helpful. Our only complaint was the many bugs that are able to come in the rooms and the fact that our garden view room had no AC. We were afraid to open the porch doors because of the many little creatures and there was no screen to keep them out. But it was beautiful!!

Hotel rooms were very clean, airy, well-decorated, and well-appointed (table and chairs, fridge, lots of hooks and shelving in bathroom). I liked the nice cool concrete floors that didn't get dirty and slippery like the tile floors we found in other hotels. We also loved exploring the trails on the hotel grounds, seeing the wildlife (we saw our first armadillo there), and the breakfast was really delicious. The location was also nice and quiet and isolated, but an easy drive to town. Highly recommend.

And had major shower/sink temp issues. We brought it to the attention of the front desk and they said someone would come look at it, but no one ever did. I have a feeling its just a hotel wide issue. The issue was you can only get scolding hot water or freezing cold no in between. There seemed to be a lot of families with children which is great for families not so great for couples or singles. Also, I was really looking forward to the yoga they advertised as daily, however when I asked about it at check in they said they currently don't have a yoga instructor.

Nous avons passé un super séjour dans l'hôtel. Tout le personnel est attentif et sympathique et aidant pour organiser la suite des étapes de notre voyage, n'étant pas véhiculé. Seul bémol : les chambres bien que charmantes et propres sont un peu décevantes par rapport au prix. Tout grince et on a l'impression de vivre avec ses voisins. Le lit est également trop petit. Encore une fois cela ne remets pas en question la magie de cet endroit mais des investissements sont nécessaires.

This place is AMAZING!! Their dedication to conservation is admirable and they are doing a great job. The property made it hard to leave as it had everything you need. There were hiking trails to waterfalls, great views, and opportunities to see wildlife. Additionally the room was spectacular and the onsite restaurant was one I will definitely come back for. The farm to table ingredients were amazing and healthy.

The room we had was in second floor overlooking the beautiful sceneries of the mountain side. There were animals that I have only seen first time in my life. There were monkeys, rare kind of birds around the vicinity. Their free breakfast were freshly made for you to enjoy infront of their huge relaxing grassy field. You can explore around and have a good hike in their property with water falls beneath their rain forest. It was quite an experience!!! Don't forget to pack your jacket as it gets cold during early morning dawn and at night time.

Property is spectacular with the most amazing views! The on site restaurant serves local farm to table food that is delicious! The rooms are a little small and run down but we didn’t spend much time in them other than to sleep. Lots of beautiful trails to explore and the night hike is recommended! Overall a fantastic experience if you are good with a rustic room and a few bugs!

This is an amazing property. The focus on permaculture is unique and interesting, and it's located in a beautiful natural area. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. The room was comfortable, though two minor comments: (1) There's no AC, so it got very warm, and (2) There aren't screens on the windows or door to the patio, so there was no way to leave them open without bugs (and birds) coming into the room. But overall, we loved staying here and would definitely return!

Everything about Valle Escondido was outstanding. The staff were all anxious to help and warm in their greetings. Sian at reception want above and beyond to help us with dinner rest and other recommendations . Carmella’s warm welcome when we arrived set the tone for our whole visit. Rooms were spotless and comfortable. The trails around the property were well maintained, well marked and thoroughly enjoyable. The restaurant had excellent food, from wonderful oven fires pizza, to more traditional foods and tasty desserts. We enjoyed our happy hour cocktails while watching the sunset over the magnificent vista. We would high recommend staying here.

This place was so absolutely perfect. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and always helpful with suggestions, making reservations, and chatting about life in Monteverde. The property was gorgeous, with pristine rainforest trails that leave from your front door. The patio where an amazing breakfast is served has a view to die for. The food was really delicious and made with care. We saw coati, agouti, monkeys, frogs, so many birds on the property. I would recommend this place to anyone. What a gem!

Tienen un grave problema, los empleados no están felices con su trabajo lo cual lleva a una experiencia desagradable. Seguramente el mal clima de trabajo se derrama de la cultura impuesta por los directores de la empresa. No lo recomiendo si quiere una experiencia placentera.

This property is magnificent. The staff is very friendly, especially Elian. We walk the trails on the facility and saw the waterfall and the other amazing views. My children enjoyed it as did we we totally recommend this hidden gem.

Expérience contrastée – cadre superbe mais accueil à revoir Lors de notre road trip de trois semaines au Costa Rica, notre passage à Valle Escondido Nature Reserve a été globalement décevant. Check-in expéditif, une seule personne peu engageante, aucune explication sur les services ni les sentiers. À 17h, on apprend qu’ils ferment à 16h30… dommage. La chambre “supérieure vue jardin” donnait sur un mur, sans chaise ni table sur la terrasse. À côté du restaurant : impossible d’y manger, mais bruit assuré. Zone en chantier visible depuis le parking. L’établissement manque d’âme, sans chaleur humaine. On a la nette impression d’être livrés à nous-mêmes, comme dans un lieu laissé à l’abandon, où le client n’est pas une priorité. La direction a toutefois réagi à nos remarques et nous a proposé une autre chambre. Un geste apprécié. Le cadre naturel est superbe, les sentiers agréables, et le petit-déjeuner de bonne qualité. En revanche, le concept éco semble davantage motivé par des économies que par une réelle démarche durable. Plus largement, Monteverde donne l’impression de surfer sur le tourisme au détriment de l’authenticité costaricienne que l’on retrouve ailleurs dans le pays. Nous ne conseillons pas cet hôtel. We enjoyed our stay at Valle Escondido. The sunset happy hour, permaculture info, and onsite trail system are great. The concierge service was not as "concierge-y" as I was led the believe, but we eventually got things figured out. There were several middle of the night power surges that triggered the emergency lights 😴 The property is beautiful and most of the staff is lovely

Might need a car to get into town, but a great hotel. Food on site was amazing and affordable. Best pizza in Costa Rica. The hiking trails were a nice afternoon and morning adventure. Would recommend this place to anyone. Great view of the sunset (unfortunately some clouds blocked the full view during our stay).

The property is on top of mountain with stunning mountain and sunset view. Room is very clean. Onsite restaurant and hiking trails. Front desk is very helpful and friendly. Playground right in front of the property for kids to enjoy!

Fantastic hotel, close to both Monteverde and Santa Elena nature reserves and a short walk in to town! The service at the hotel was fantastic, everyone was so so helpful from helping book trips to providing superb food, the restaurant on site is next level! The on site nature reserve was stunning, a beautiful waterfall and trail, we’d highly recommend the night tour! Sunset was also incredible from the hotel! Cannot recommend highly enough

This hotel is nestled into the beautiful hills of Monteverde. The vista is spectacular and the food is absolutely wonderful. Our multigenerational family stayed here and fully enjoyed the trails, meals and facility.

Really nice property bordering the nature reserve. Nice, clean large room & delicious food, with nice views. Only con was that the kitchen was a bit slow for lunch/dinner but otherwise no complaints - would highly recommend!

This place is AMAZING!! Their dedication to conservation is admirable and they are doing a great job. The property made it hard to leave as it had everything you need. There were hiking trails to waterfalls, great views, and opportunities to see wildlife. Additionally the room was spectacular and the onsite restaurant was one I will definitely come back for. The farm to table ingredients were amazing and healthy.

We stayed 2 nights at the Valle Escondido reserve. The good: beautiful property, serene, great views, focus on sustainability, 5-10 minutes drive to several restaurants. The property has its own hiking trail which includes the forest as well as a free self-guided permaculture tour. For dinner, we had the wood fire pizza which was great. The room was basic, but comfortable. The not-so-good: the staff is polite but not friendly or warm. Also, the free breakfast is just ok - it surprised us given all the positive breakfast reviews. Not only did they have a limited menu selection, but the portions were small and there was barely any fresh fruit. Overall a good experience.

The breakfast was terrible. Only 2-3 options to start off with. They had toast but no butter. The banana was pre-cut and soggy. When asked if they had a fresh whole banana, they refused. Smoothie was over 40 mins before breakfast time ended. The toys for kids were in poor shape. Basketballs, soccer balls weren't inflated properly. Good location and view though.

The grounds at Valle Escondido are beautiful. The food and service were excellent. Loved the farm to table concept and the eco-friendliness of hotel. Rooms are simple but clean and had everything we needed. Views and sunset from the restaurant/bar area were outstanding.

The hotel itself is very nice and the setting is wonderful. You can hear every word and move from the rooms next door. The attitude of the majority of the staff (especially the guy who checked us in) was something we’ve not experienced anywhere else in Costa Rica. Everywhere else we had a warm welcome, here most staff were unfriendly and unwilling to help.

Stayed here for a night with big group of 20 people reaching there via big size coach bus. Plus: - Nice location. - Good breakfast with optional open air seating. - Bigger room. Minus: - Some maintenance issues - like our bath room shower handle came off. - Front desk closes at 10pm. If you are arriving late, only security guard will help you. - Breakfast items not arranged properly - like the bread toasting machine placed in the middle items (not separately in a corner) so people who were waiting for toaster to done were blocking the flow. Unnecessary wait if you are hurry. - Big size coach bus can go inside property to drop off only. No overnight parking for bus as the parking lot has limited space. Our driver with bus had to book a room separately in some outside hotel.
