The Monsaraz San Diego, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

We checked in on Sunday June 22,2025. Sandra, the hotel manger was kind enough to let us switch rooms to 246 which had a nice view. But she told us it would be ready in 30 minutes. we actually waited 90 minutes which was after 5pm. When we got to the room, the AC would not come on. I called her to see if there was a trick to getting th AC to work and she informed me that maintenance was resetting the AC and to just open the balcony door. That cooled off the room a bit but than we had to deal with all the flying bugs in the room. The next day, no AC. I mentioned the issue again to Sandra as we got our car from the valet that was costing $37 a day. Next day Tuesday again still no AC and nothing from Sandra, I again mentioned it to another employee working the front in desk. She said she would check into it but we heard nothing from anyone at the hotel. By Wednesday we realized that no one really cared and we just have to live with an open balcony door and flying bugs to keep the room somewhat tolerable. The carpet had stains. The room was not very clean. The pool area is small and full bird droppings. The pool furniture was old and something you would expect at a motel 6. The in room products were Nest brand but we noticed that the cleaning carts head cheap products that they refilled the Nest with. When we checked out, a different employee was working and was sympathetic to what we experienced. She was gracious enough to waive the valet fees. I would never stay there again.

Nice hotel. Really well done with decor and ambiance. Restaurant is nothing impressive. Didn’t eat there because breakfast and dinner options were very minimal. Staff was attentive. Water didn’t get very hot which is a negative for me. Conveniently located near airport, Sea World, the Zoo, and Belmont Park. Less than 10 minutes to each. Pool was subpar so kids didn’t bother getting in. Overall nice hotel.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights while on vacation with family. Location was excellent. Very close to the sea, Starbucks, grocery store and some restaurants. Nice neighbourhood, felt safe. Room was clean, had a big tv, big window and was bright. Everything looked updated/modern but with a Mediterranean aesthetic. The main problem we had was that some features of the aesthetic were less practical. The bathroom door was one of those hanging two panel sliding doors with the shudder design (not sure what they’re called). It was difficult to close and open, provided little privacy (didn’t lock and there were gaps on the side). The shower shared a glass frosted wall with the room which again provides little privacy. Both of these issues also made it uncomfortable to use the bathroom when others were sleeping because the sound and light would bother them. Also would be nice if they provided more mugs/cups. I asked but was told to grab some from the restaurant. I didn’t feel comfortable so I gave up. Overall we enjoyed our stay and price was very reasonable.

Decided to stay in SD for the weekend with my best friend and I was very happy we chose to stay here. Parking rates are only valet. $37 a day with in and out privileges; process of calling the car through text was super convenient and easy. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room had great views of the harbor and lots of space. The hotel has very nice designs and the theme carried through from the lobby to rooms. I definitely recommend staying here.

Rooms and public spaces are very nice. Fitness Center not up to standard ( water dispenser with no cups, elliptical ( Precor ) listed tv stations but would only connect to an infomercial channel.

The hotel was very nice for a 1 night stay but parking is difficult and $37 a night for parking, yikes!😬

They do not have self parking they only have valet and they charge $37 a day also for pets they charge $75 for each pet.

Parking is a problem

Nice hotel just by the harbor. Walking distance to nearby restaurants and stores. Clean and friendly staff. No self parking and valet parking with cost before a downside. Can get noisy being on a main road.

Unfortunately our sheets were not fresh/ washed. Sheets had dried blood spots ,would of never of expected this from "The Monsar"

This hotel is deceiving … from the pics it looks super cute and vibey … when it’s really not … it seems like it’s a really old hotel that they did some reno’s to make it look cute … but the carpets are stained and dingy … and the water smells so bad I couldn’t even use the sink in my hotel room. The area around the hotel is not so good either … the hotel right beside it is disgusting…. leading to some very undesirable characters lurking around The staff were all very pleasant and kind

My overall experience was that every time I turned the faucet on, a horrible smell came from the pipe.

Beautifully decorated hotel at a great location. However for the first three nights a terrible odour came out of the bathroom, getting unbearably strong in the middle of the night. It woke us up each night, it was that bad. Like sewage. Most likely a plumbing issue. Thankfully they

The only reason this place is getting a star at all is because of Arianna/Adrianna at the front desk. she’s the only competent person here. Sandra, on the other hand, was flat-out rude and completely useless. Our sheets were filthy when we arrived, and she couldn’t even manage to order clean ones. When I asked for an extra towel, she brushed me off with a “well, I placed the order” and left me waiting for hours. I finally had to get the valet boy to grab one because Sandra clearly has no business working in guest services. Check the photos of the bed. We packed up and left a whole day early to stay at the Bay Club instead. Do yourself a favor and avoid this Hilton at all costs. Run, and run fast. Do you want me to push it even harsh

Everything was great except housekeeping took all towels from our room and never brought any back. And there was no body wash. When I asked housekeeping, she said they were doing laundry. I had to request towels from the front desk the morning of checkout in order to shower. But no towels to dry our hands or wash our face. We did request body wash & they promptly brought us some. Other than that, everything was really nice. Great location.

I loved our stay at the Monsaraz! The facility was beautiful from the moment we stepped in. The room was nice! My only complaint was the strong smell of sewer that came from the bathroom sink when it was ran. We just bought bottled water and used that to brush our teeth. Also it would have been nice if the shower water got hot. It only got luke warm.

The hotel seems clean and the overall aesthetics are nice. The room was OK. The glass shower door had water spots from top to bottom making me question if it had been cleaned and the shower fixtures are peeling. The fixtures at the sink were so loose it felt like they could come off at anytime.

The staff at check in and check out were mediocre at best. There was not a warm welcome and I felt a little like I was bothering her when trying to make small talk. Upon check out I let the agent know the shower door made a loud popping noise when closing the door and that it does not close all the way. I also let her know the room smelled like sewer or egg smell. She made note of it but there was no sorry or sense of caring. I guess I would say there was absolutely NO hospitality.

The thing that sent us home a day early is upon returning to the room mid day we noticed it was almost 85 degrees in the room, attempted to turn on the AC, fan, everything we could attempt to do to make it turn on with no such luck. We went down to the front desk and they said they’d get right to work on it. By now 4 hrs had passed, no updates or attempts to come fix it. Lack of communication and little to no effort was ridiculous and disappointing, as well as the $300 incidental fees they charge upon check in with no mention of how high that fee will be. Will unfortunately not be returning there. We booked 4 days but a night driving home early was better than attempting to sleep in a room that was by then almost 90 degrees with no concern from staff. know

Pros: We enjoyed our one night stay here. The aesthetic is modern and artistic. The rooms are well appointed, spacious and clean. Mid: The area around the hotel is fine but nothing special. It offers a close walk to the marina and a few dive bars. Hotel front desk staff were capable and helpful. Cons: The walls are paper thin. My friend had to move rooms at 2am bc the person in the next room was snoring; similarly I was awakened at 8 am by housekeeping in neighboring rooms and it seemed like they were making all that noise in our room but it’s just that the walls are very thin.

Service was ok. For the price, the room was nothing like the photos. In the photo, the balcony was in the courtyard and ours was in front of a garage, view left a lot to be desired. There were cracks in the ceiling, and the smart TV was not a smart TV and had just basic cable. For the price, wouldn’t go back.

Great staff but the room was wet our whole stay. The humidity was high and wouldn’t get better. Woke up with wet sheets, carpet and anything left out was wet. No windows opened and we tried using the heater. Which also didn’t work that well.

I enjoyed my stay. It was clean, safe and staff were very welcoming. My room was facing Main Street so at night it was a little loud but it wasn’t anymore after 11pm. The pillows are a little softer than I’d like but the bed is comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

Pretty good experience. The staff were great and always responded right away through text. Very informative with any questions I had. Also let me borrow an umbrella when it was raining! Only concern is maybe add a lock to the restroom barn doors, there's always an open crack between the two doors because they don't close together all the way and feels like there's no complete privacy. Besides that everything was great. Thank you all for everything.

When we arrived our room had a heavy chemical smell. We let them know but nothing happened for the first 2 nights. After waking up with headaches 2 mornings in a row, we asked again about the smell and finally spoke to a manager and got room switched. That room the air was not working . We told them about that and they said half the building’s air was out (returned sometime in the middle of the night).

We didn’t get the room with balcony that we booked. We were told that the following night we were to be moved to the one with a balcony. The room that we stayed in the first night, the air conditioning was broken. It was really stuffy in the room. The following day we were moved to another room, but it wasn’t the one with the balcony. It was better than the first one since at least we had a working a/c. It was very disappointing. I was really looking forward to this stay. They offered to waive the valet, which was accepted. The staff in the front office were very nice. The valet attendant was also very nice and pleasant. I guess the problem is in management. It’s a shame because the hotel has a lot of potential. The rooms were a bit small although nice and modern. We stayed in another Tapestry Collection in Tucscon, Az right before this stay. It is called The Eddy. That one was outstanding! It’s so much better than The Monsaraz. I don’t think we’ll be staying here again in the future. There are so many other options available.

The AC didn’t work. Besides that, the room was very nice and the area was safe.

The Monsaraz was really chic. I loved the patio area! The balcony was nice too. The air conditioning was out while we stayed. They gave us a fan which we used while sleeping. Wish we could have gotten a lower rate because of that. The valet service was excellent and really quick! The beds were comfy. The shower was really relaxing and big. Anyway, lots of good things, just didn't have ac. Happy in the end.

Convenient location, beautiful and modern decor, friendly staff, delicious food and drinks.. it was truly an amazing birthday trip. There was a slight hiccup with the air conditioning, but it was fixed within 24 hours AND they were super generous enough to provide a discount on our entire stay. (this was not asked for, but was given upon check out) Thank you guys!! We’ll be back!

Hire more valets. I parked and waited, standing outside of my vehicle, for 10 minutes with nobody in sight at the valet stand. Nobody from the lobby approached and there was no signage to proceed inside. I had to send my daughter in to find out what to do. The saving grace of the valet situation last night was that the lone valet was able to retrieve my car in 15 minutes after texting for it, so I could make an emergency trip to buy an item I needed for a very important function today. Kudos to that overworked and undersupported man. $35/night to park is nothing but theft, especially in this neighborhood where there’s no other choice. Yes, I know it’s industry average, I’m not a tourist. Beyond that- street noise was a constant even with closed windows and both sets of curtains shut. $3/bottle for water in the room is ridiculous. This is a Hilton property and that company makes billions. Overall, I was a great Guest. I required nothing out of the ordinary, I tip well, and rather than faux, excess cheerfulness from the staff all I really need is polite, quiet competence. But that’s more for managers than frontline employees.

The Monsaraz still had no systemic way of checking us in and did not have any key cards for us to be able to access our hotel room on our own. Everytime we came back to the hotel we had to wait at the front desk until someone was able to let us in our room, as you can imagine, this was highly inconvenient,

The customer service exceeded our expectations. They are very helpful when needed.

First time staying here and it was wonderful! Front desk staff are great and hospitable! We had a floor level room with direct access to the patio with cozy bungalow seating. Very close to downtown and Little Italy, where you can find many eateries, just an uber away! Definitely coming back for a staycation!

Property is super clean. Close to airport, and areas to eat. Very good for people who enjoy boating activities. There is a boardwalk right across from the hotel. I was hoping for more of a beach experience, but the views were breathtaking.

Easy check in. Clean. Convenient. Waling distance from bay, restaurants coffee cafes etc

We’ve stayed here with our family two times in the past year. Love the convenience of having many eating options nearby and easy place to walk around marina. We travel with toddlers and we’ve found this place to be clean, moderately spacious for our stay, easy to check in and check out and you can find free parking on the street most of the time. Free street parking is a plus. This place is very nice and modern. I highly recommend instead of the center city hotel areas that are just difficult to get around. Zoo and sea world are not a far drive.

Loved this boutique hotel. Very nice, clean and safe (solo traveler). Front desk staff was very attentive and sent messages to check to see if I needed anything. Everyone was friendly all the time and never got the impression that anyone disliked their job. Very enthusiastic and warm staff. Perfect location and in proximity to liberty Station, and the marina. Fun, restaurants, and bars within a five minute Uber ride

Booked this hotel for a girls trip and it was perfect. Trendy decor, great cocktails and easy to get around any where. Beds were comfortable and the room space was used well. Staff were very friendly. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thanks for a wonderful trip!

The front desk staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Our AC was wonky our first night but it was fixed asap. The bar and patio area are lovely, clean, and the staff and food are great. We will be staying here again next time we visit.

Nice local Point Lomo hotel. Looks very new and clean. The cooks couldn't make it in for breakfast, so the restaurant was closed in the morning. A lot of close alternatives.

• We had planned to eat at the hotel restaurant Friday night after driving in late from LA but the kitchen was completely CLOSED the entire weekend of our stay. We had to scrounge around the area but by the time we got in an Uber only place still serving was a loud, low end bar pub. Not what we had envisioned our 1st night for a nice dinner on the hotel patio as shown in the online hotel photos • Should have escalated any kitchen repairs to open in 1 day not be down for 3 • Body wash completely empty in shower, Kleenex box in room was empty • Bathroom barn style doors broken so don't close correctly. Very awkward when we were showering as no privacy could see right in • Limped to the entire opposite end of the hotel floor from my room for ice with a twisted / bad knee. Only to find the ice machine was also broken. Had to limp back with an empty bucket. It was down the entire weekend. Ice is really a bare minimum expectation. • Barking dog for hours on Saturday early evening right next door. Understand if dog friendly hotel but a barking dog for hours on end disturburbing multiple rooms is unacceptable. Should have contacted owners directly by cell phone to return to hotel and handle dog • Check out morning waited 45 minutes for a "valet" to finally come with a luggage cart to help me. Front desk told me several time "we don't have a bellman". Well, for $600 for the weekend, having a bellman is just simply an assumed amenity.•

I got lucky with street parking every day. The room was very nice and clean and the staff was very helpful. The restaurant inside had an amazing ambience and there are a bunch of convenient places to grab food and drink nearby.

The employees were very friendly and helpful. There’s a good bar off of the lobby. The hotel was located within walking distance to various restaurants and coffee shops. The valet parking was nice but expensive
