The Tranquil House Inn

Excellent dinner at their restaurant….upstairs loft and deck with a view for guests to enjoy wine and cheese reception! We would definitely return!

Ice machine not working. Was able to get ice first night at bar, but not Sunday nor Monday as bar and restaurant are closed. Very limited staffing.

The stay was very good, even though a storm had come through the day before which caused the restaurant to close.

Nice place. The only complaint is the restraint and bar closed pretty early.

Very nice property and people. Clean and convenient. No Elevator and the Restaurant is only open a few nights a week. 4.5 stars..

I can't say enough about our stay. This was the first time NOT staying on the beach. It was probably THE MOST RELAXING vacation we've ever had. Everything was perfect. Our check-in was very late, but we were given instructions for the door code and location. Our room was beautifully decorated, very clean, bright and overlooked the marina. The bed was firmer than we are used to, but did not hinder our sleep. Breakfast provided every morning of fresh fruit, juice, coffee, yogurt, sausage biscuits and a beautiful view of the marina. If you're looking for something other than that.. Darrell's is your place! Great food and amazing service. The staff, Marci, Chuck, Frankie, Mary, Ashley(sorry we missed you) were all very friendly and gave us lots of information on sites other than the beach. The aquarium was a highlight, as was the local theatre. We relaxed every afternoon during the "cocktail hour". Wine, fresh fruit, cheese and crackers were a special treat after spending the day either at the beach, the pool( offered through an off property resort) or just checking out the sweet town of Manteo. We dined at the restaurant (1587) Sunday evening. Make sure to reserve a table as it is popular. My husband had the Red Drum and I had the Ribeye. Delicious doesn't begin to describe either dish. We relaxed every evening on the deck overlooking the marina and was an excellent way to end our day. Tranquil House Inn.. INDEED, was just that. We didn't want to leave.

Enjoyed a lovely stay. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Perfect location for walking to shopping, food, and waterfront. Restaurant was fabulous as well.

When we checked in there was a dehumidifier set up in the room. It was already full with red light on. It was muggy in the room and I am not sure when it was last emptied. They do not have daily housekeeping. No pool. No bikes. You can walk to shops and local restaurants. Free parking is nice. The room needed some updating. The happy hour wine/cheese was sweet wine and cube cheese like you buy kraft in grocery store lunch meet aisle and is on table in lobby. The wine is not in its bottle so I am guessing maybe box wine put in decanter? The have a lovely upstair deck outside. The really should set up happy hour there and have nicer wine/cheese. I would not stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at Tranquill House Inn. Staff was very responsive to requests. The only issues that kept me from giving a five star review was the need for better sheets and pillows. Sheets were very rough and pillows were old and well used. There was also a dehumidifier running in our room that needed to be emptied twice a day and it was very loud. We had to leave it on or our bedding felt damp at night.

There were bugs. Big bugs! I’ve always wanted to stay there, but I was disappointed that the room and especially the bathroom wasn’t clean.

Charming historic inn in great location. Room was spacious and bed very comfortable. Furnishings just OK. There are no comfortable chairs, just straight backed chairs. There is no dresser to place clothing in, only closet. The electrical sockets were taken up by lamps, Coffee maker and router, leaving only two for charging devices and one of those two didn’t work. The electronic door lock also didn’t work and we had to go down and get a key. The room overall could use some updating. Needs a deep clean and paint. In staff were nice and helpful. The included breakfast was very basic, like a chai hotel. On the plus side, the restaurant was great. Excellent quality of food and good service for dinner

I have stayed at the Tranquil House Inn around 5 times now as I enjoy the location and past cleanliness, HOWEVER, It is in dire need of a room cleansing- very poor towels and sheets. No maid service, even for simple things like emptying trash. The humidifier was full on my arrival, so I had to empty...room very damp, hence the mold in the bathroom. For the room rate, it was certainly not in par. Hoping the owners put in the necessary upgrades to keep the Tranquil House going as it could be a gem.

The inn is a great spot on the water and walkable to anything you would want to do, see, or need in Manteo. Definitely make time to eat in the 1587 lounge. Great service and food..... that is saying a lot for us because we normally are biased to cooking ourselves and very rarely find restaurants impressive or worth returning to. Our meal here was both. The staff was friendly and informative. Check in and out was easy with texted instructions. Room was clean and had everything you migjt n3ed for a short stay. Fridge, kurig, iron, and extra pillows. The only thing that I would have liked was a hook in the bathroom to hang towels or toiletry bag. But this might have just been the case in our room.

The bed was like sleeping on wood. The light breakfast was not ver light. Nothing healthy. Room was basic for the cost.

Also it was far from full yet we got a room with no view. There was no way to pay more for a view or I would have, and would have been fine if the Inn had been full but we got a middle room with zero view when other better view rooms appeared to be empty.

The room is extremely cozy and fitting to the outer Banks as far as decor. The lady at the front desk known as sunshine was very pleasant and sweet

Nice quaint and quiet place waterfront. Excellent service at the continental breakfast. Didn’t have any interaction with desk staff and the desk is open very limited hours - but that didn’t affect our stay. Perfect place in Manteo

Every staff member was nice and informative. This is a really neat place to stay in Manteo! It was easy to walk to everything down town from the hotel because it in the heart of the waterfront!

This place is a gem in the center of downtown Manteo. It is close to so many sites including quick access to the beaches on Nags Head. Accommodations were excellent and the staff knowledgeable and friendly.

We came in the (very) off-season: right after New Years. Manteo is an incredibly charming town that we have enjoyed many times. This time, we were there Jan 1 -3 and it's prime season is summer, so a lot was shut down. We didn't care. Tranquil House Inn is in the very heart of Manteo, and we were looking for a quiet post-holiday decompression. It was wonderful for that. The people were great. It was a great get-away.
