This property opened up about a year ago and it’s lovely! Everything is brand new. There’s a hot tub and sauna outside. The staff are really nice and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was good. And about a 20+ minute walk to downtown Stowe and other shops. Overall would stay here again and highly recommend!

It’s clear that they are busy renovating this property, but the fact they are still renovating and charging top dollar is a problem. This will be a great place when they’ve finished. A few things they need to work on : 1. Main bar/ reception area is tastefully decorated and the amazingly friendly staff always on hand, but when you first walk through the door you are met with a strong odour of sewage gas. 2. We were in one of lower rooms which faces the pond. In order to get to the fire pits, breakfast or hot tub you need to walk through the unmade parking lot. Not ideal when it’s wet. 3. The room itself was spacious but is extremely poorly laid out. There’s a nice gas fireplace but no seating near it. The bathroom is clearly from pre reno era, it’s small, extremely poorly lit, and water takes a good 5 minutes to get up to temperature. The bathroom fan is louder than a 1975 VW Beetle with a broken muffler! There’s nowhere to put on makeup, plus the lighting overall in the room makes that impossible. My wife gave up trying! Finally the end table were curved, slated chairs so be careful with glass of water. It’s an end table not end chair guys. The blinds were incorrectly installed leaving a 4 gap all around the sides…..I could go on but you get the gist. 4. The hot tub area is brand new but lacks character - it’s a mass of wood with very little landscaping. Fix these, easily addressed, issues and AWOL can be a great place to stay. It’s not there yet.

Quaint and posh redesign to the rooms, very cozy. Didn’t appreciate being roomed so far from the pool/hot tub and that the facilities closed early at 9. Had to drive to get to the closed pool because icy road/cold and not well lit paths for back cabins. That said, nice place.

The rooms where very well maintained and honestly beautiful. The staff was super nice. My only complaint was that neither the two jacuzzi's or the sauna's were working. This was very inconvenient, since it was one of the main reasons we chose to stay there...

Great resort for getaway, short walk to shopping and dining in Stowe, Vermont. Recently opened, new construction (some cabins still being finished). Breakfast buffet was great! Hot Tubs and Fire Pits in the common areas, hiking trail at the edge of the property. Would be good to add some lighting on the patio for evening use.

The room was clean but carpet around bed was stained. We were in a first floor room in a 2 story section so although we could not hear voices we could hear plumbing including when upstairs guest urinated! Nice to have fireplace but our room only had one chair and bed was low to ground. From pictures I had expected a sofa. Bed was moderately comfortable and linens were very nice as were bathroom linens. Bathroom was small but very clean. Room included mini fridge hairdryer etc. Office had no exterior signage so had to guess where to check in. Front desk employee was friendly. Fine for a one night stay.

Beds are lumpy and extremely and painfully soft. Room keys deactivate when in the pocket with a cell phone or AirPods. Air in room dusty and the grounds are gravel and flood in the rain. They did not have extra pillows. The staff were excellent and friendly and awesome. Beautiful breakfast. Big issues with the bed, the softness also caused the feet area to be higher than the sunken area peoples heads and bodies are. Very strange

Upon arrival the property is really beautiful and serene. The main house where the check-in is located is also gorgeous. So cozy. Definitely worth checking out the complementary breakfast although I found the coffee to be horrible. We absolutely loved the hot tub. We used it a lot and were always the only ones out in the pool area. I have to mention that one of the two hot tubs was out of order. We had booked their two bedroom suit. The living area was huge and beautiful at first glance. But when you have a closer look you will spot quite a few flaws. First off all the floors are so squeaky and loud. I guess not much that can be done about it now. Second the kitchen cabinetry is very old and just got painted over. The drawers were stuck shut. Impossible to get to the cutlery. I just don’t understand how they put all the money and effort into renovating and upgrading the whole motel but then don’t invest in a new kitchen as well. Such a miss. The bathroom is small and lacks storage space as well as hooks for towels. It takes a good five minutes for the water in the shower to come to temperature. They should really do something about this. One of the bedrooms had absolute no closet or storage. The other one had a small closet. And that’s all the storage you get. No hooks for your jackets, no drawers, nothing. Like how do you forget about storage for your guest’s clothes? And we were only two people with only a summer jacket each. Now imagine a family with winter clothes.

Do not stay in the cabins! Extremely small and no place to put anything. Pictures are deceiving. We did not look forward to coming back to our hotel each night and the stay was not relaxing. Smells like Home Depot with unsanded, unfinished, splintered, planked wood as walls. Other rooms in hotel may be better. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was outstanding. Property has potential but cabins are certainly not worth the price.

We stayed in room 160 which I think was an accessible room, ground floor (as were most), with easy access to the hot tub (which was super lovely - get there right on turning dusk and watch the sky turn blue to midnight to black). The room was great, super comfy king size bed. Breakfast was a buffet laid out that served fruit, granola, yoghurt, lots of breads (not GF), and avocado/tomatoes/cucumbers/fetta/gherkin that you build for yourself. There was a communal chill out area which looked great although we didn't use it. You could walk to some places, although you'd mostly drive in the winter as it's a bit awkward to get around with the snow.

A few things were disappointing. No hand held shower head which is more efficient and saves water when trying to rinse off. Huge smoke alarm with blinking red light facing and illuminating the bed. Nice sitting area but could not watch TV, only from the bed. No where to put personal items in the bathroom. Nice big bath space but needs a table to sit toiletries on because sink counter space is very limited. Also, no light over bathroom sink mirror, only one light in the middle of the bathroom which is large.

This hotel is motel style with direct room access from outside. It seems like someone had a great concept that was executed poorly and cheaply. Our premium ground floor pond view room was situated next to the parking lot and maintenance shed that was in disarray with broken furniture outside. The floors and walls are thin enough that we clearly heard conversations in other rooms, and above us each step they took creaked and shook the ceiling. Inside the room there were two chairs with curved seats in lieu of bed tables so our water glasses slid unless placed down right in the center. The electric outlet was an extension cord behind the bed. The mirror was in the corner behind a chair and fake standing plant I could go on but let’s just say it wasn’t well thought out or user friendly. I do want to give kudos to the woman in charge of breakfast, she was friendly and clearly cared about what she was doing. PS please fix the steps to the room from the parking lot - that teeny half step on the bottom made everyone we saw trip.

Amazing property. Gorgeous shared spaces with rustic chic decor. Exterior landscaping and grounds are beautiful. Exterior hot tubs, sauna and more. Breakfasts are incredible- delicious homemade on-premises breads and jams and much more. Service incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. Bedrooms are ok: Tiniest bathroom ever in our room, no dresser or other place to put clothes. Happy vibe of everything else sparked so much joy I didn’t care that much.

We loved our weekend at AWOL. The property is stunning and looks exactly like the pictures. It’s breathtaking. The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Sarah, made us feel so welcomed and guided us in the right direction for activities and dinning options. Very convenient, walking distance to town and 15 min ride to the ski site. Can’t wait to come back.

The room was amazing. Amy at the front desk was more than accommodating. I called in a panic that I needed a place to get dressed for a mid-day wedding. I was worried I would miss check in with the wedding going on and the front desk hours. She went above and beyond, notified housekeeping and my room was ready upon my arrival which kept me at ease.

Excellent hotel for people who want to relax and enjoy cozy rooms. They have a hot tub and two fire pits absolutely would recommend for a wonderful getaway. The breakfast was extra extraordinary, homemade breads, and the staff was extremely helpful and pleasant.
