The Hacienda at Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta

I enjoyed that the resort is right on the beach, which allowed us to take long walks and enjoy hearing the waves. I didnt like that the rule of not reserving lounge chairs was not enforced at all so unless you reserved a longer with your towel or book at 7;00am there was absolutely no place to sit. I saw some guest putting personal items on loungers in multiple areas to use at different times during the day, which is very selfish behavior and should not be tolerated by resort staff.

The Hacienda grounds were beautiful and Seafood restaurant had good options, tasty and great service. Check inn was easy as well. I had stayed at the Krystal in the past when it was a Hilton and would say that it is really showing its age and is in need of a serious upgrade. Food needs improvement outside of the Seafood restaurant. Just seemed to be lower standard and quality. The construction was also a bit of a distraction of our relaxation. I probably won’t be back unless I read in the future that there has been improvements. It’s too bad really because this resort (Hacienda) has big potential.

Nous avons demandé un upgrade section Hacienda Adulte seulement et avons eu la 193 swim out. Juste wow! Le staff était d’une politesse incroyable. Coup de coeur pour Felix section plage, Louis section OWest et Cesar section piscine Hacienda. Les plus beaux couchés de soleil jamais vue au roof top OWest… bonne nourriture. À la carte de loin la Catrina resto Mexicain était le meilleur. Beaucoup de fruit de mer frais! Nous recommandons autant pour les familles que pour les voyages de couple.

Overall had a great experience. This is my second time visiting and I would definitely visit again. The food is relatively good (except for the Italian food), the entire property is clean and all the staff is very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our first room shower so they had to put us in another room, but I’d say that was the only issue we ran into while visiting. I love that you can access the sister hotel next door which has a rooftop adult only pool overlooking the beach.

On the positive side, the beach at this property is excellent! Some less positive things were only two ala carte restaurants open per day and food was poor. Always short on beach towels and towels for the rooms. Not enough poolside and beach loungers to go around. The lack of inventory at this resort made it feel like it was going to shut down soon and they were trying to get by with as little as possible. Rooms need updating as well. The staff for the most part were excellent. Other than one manager that was quite rude from the Hacienda side. Overall, we still had a good vacation, but the property and inventory really need to improve.

The adult pool area was nice. We didn’t need to search for a chair. The staff were really friendly! Our room was clean, the rain shower head didn’t work though. The adult area was quiet, would not recommend this resort if you’re looking for a lively pool area. The food options weren’t great and if you didn’t book an al a carte early, you were eating at the family buffet. The breakfast buffet was good but I wasn’t impressed with the evening buffet and it was very loud. The alcohol options were good name brand liquors.

El elevador no servía solo estaba en servicio uno y se tardaba muchísimo en bajar y subir en el área del comedor salías oliendo muchísimo a comida ya las instalaciones están un poco viejas el aire acondicionado del cuarto no funcionaba

Was able to use all amenities at both the hacienda and Krystal grand. And had great access to the beach

The pools were great, the food at the restaurants was good. The food at the buffet was below average, there were long lines and they seemed disorganized. They also frequently ran out of certain dishes. The staff were friendly but you could only ever get 1 drink and almost no service at the pool. They didn't bring us enough towels for the room and getting towels for the pool was difficult. There were not enough chairs at the pool and they sporadically enforced the chair- saving rule.

El lugar en las fotos se ve muy nuevo pero en realidad no lo es, las instalaciones les falta un poco de limpieza, y mantenimiento. El cuarto estaba muy sucio, yo viajé con mi bebé de 10 meses gateando y el piso del cuarto lo tuve que limpiar con una toalla mojada para que el nene pudiera gatear tranquilo, además la limpieza que hacían diario era muy básica, medio tendieron la cama y sacaron la basura. Entiendo que no es la opción más cara pero creo que la limpieza es importante.

El Hotel Hacienda tiene una alberca techada, muy conveniente cuando no queremos asolearnos mucho. El personal es muy atento y cuidadoso con el servicio. Las instalaciones estan impecables.

Bedbugs…. We were there for 3 nights and luckily we only had one night left and I appreciate that we were moved immediately after we found the bedbugs in the middle of the night because we got woken up by a smoke alarm that was triggered in the building and saw the bedbug crawling on the bed. Staff immediately moved us to a different room and was very attentive. Unfortunately it doesn’t change the fact that there were bedbugs.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, there were issues. They couldn’t find my reservation even though I had a confirmation and it took a long time to sort out. Once I finally got to my room, things only got worse. There were roaches, the air conditioning didn’t work properly, and rain started leaking into the room, along with water dripping from the ceiling. It was honestly unsafe and completely unacceptable. I brought up the problems to the staff, but the overall response felt unhelpful and disorganized. It was one issue after another, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the stress and book somewhere else.

I liked the area where the property was located , would not return due to cleanliness , sheets/bedding and pillows had a mildew smell no matter how many times I asked them to change the bedding. The restroom was not clean when we arrived at all and had hair all over the floor as well as dirt even after room service cleanings daily. Food was terrible and had to eat out of the resort.

This hotel has a beautiful property & a relaxing vibe but it’s clear that it isn’t being properly maintained. We experienced issues with our room almost every day of our stay. The AC didn’t work, there looked to be mold on the ceiling & on some of the pictures, switches were dirty & the mini fridge wasn’t working. Housekeeping failed to leave towels on one of the days. One day the key card reader to our room stopped working. We were locked out for most of the day, it felt like we were being given the runaround. When they finally came to fix the door, they drilled a hole near the handle to get it open—leaving a dime-sized opening that felt like a peep hole. That alone was unsettling. One day the property ran out of water & when it came back on, the toilet, sink, and shower were running brown water. We were told to let it run for 10 minutes, but even after 30 minutes it was still brown. While we were running the shower, worms appeared on the floor, which was unsettling. Our last day the key card failed again. After the first time, we were afraid to leave the room & risk being locked out right before our flight. We ended up sitting in the room instead of enjoying our last day. The food wasn’t great, so head next door instead. The staff were friendly & welcoming & the location made commuting easy (tell your driver “face potatoes”—they’ll know). Despite all the issues, no one attempted to make things right or apologize, which was disappointing. Beautiful place, rooms need TLC!

Upon our arrival the hotel staff was very unwelcoming. We had no idea the sister hotel was next to us. We had no direction of where any of the amenities were like the gym or pools. We were given our initial room and it was extremely dirty. There was hair all over the floor and the soaking tub, the second room was leaking water from the ceiling, the last room given had two double beds. I felt like the staff was annoyed we kept bringing these complaints. We were eventually given the initial room after housekeeping "cleaned" it but it wasn't any better. We also got the jr suite with the swim out pool and we never used it because it was so dirty the water was brown of how unclean it was. Please don't waste your money, go to another hotel!

Easy and safe walking into town. Be sure to wear closed toed shoes. Food really needs to be improved. Rooms were clean-ish but left dirty spots. All lobby furniture had stains.

Underwhelming stay. Staff were very unfriendly and unwelcoming, they seemed very annoyed by guests. It was unusual compared to other experiences I have had in Mexico. The other guests we spoke to also said they felt unwanted by the staff. The restaurants were challenging to get in for dinner and when we did finally get in the food was not great when we did get in. Wifi did not work during our stay. Our toilet would not flush the last day we were there. I wouldn’t recommend or stay here again.

I just went for my birthday trip March 16-20 and overall the stay was good. The property was clean and beautiful but honestly the upkeep on some things was not good. I booked two Jr suite hacienda terrace rooms. They are HUGE! Loved all the space and the outside jacuzzi. On further inspection we realized that some things were broken. In one of the rooms, the door that separated the bedroom from the bathroom was jammed open and couldn't be closed. The bathroom tub handle for hot water did not turn on and the phone in the room did not work. The other room did not have a phone at all. When we went down to concierge to tell them they said they stepping away from phones and you would have to leave a request on WhatsApp for anything. That wasn't explained when we checked in. They did send someone to fix the bathroom door but the bathtub handle was never fix. As far a food goes, it was mostly terrible at least when it comes to the buffet. Breakfast was amazing though. I was only able to try one restaurant which was the international and it was good. Some of the restaurants are only open some days so I did not get to try most of them. You have to reserve a spot between 10AM and 2PM every day. The earlier the better. The food on the Hacienda side is better and more seasoned. The Krystal grand side was super bland. The made to order pasta night was good also at the buffet but the line is long because they only have one cook for that. Overall the staff is super friendly.

We stayed at The Hacienda for 2 nights and that’s all we needed. The staff were very nice and our room was very big and newly renovated. The only complaint I would have is the drinks weren’t great (everything tasted like aspartame) and the resort is small and not much dining or nightly “shows”. This would be a great resort for peace and quiet, relaxing and just wanting to sunbath by the pool. I’ve been spoiled at larger resorts in Mexico and felt there was a lack of entertainment. We really enjoyed aquafit in the pool and wish the beach club would have been busier with more nightlife. Overall we relaxed, the staff were wonderful and the room was beautiful and comfortable.

The property was very nice. The swim out room was great for getting away from crowds and having our own private area, however it isn't accessible to the main resort area. You have to walk through your room and back through the lobby or around the buildings to go to the main areas. Not a true swim out room. Private room drink service was dependent on how busy the pool was. Overall still fantastic and would do it again. The à la carte restaurants were so good and I highly recommend Il Formaggio for the best steak. The buffet was very hit or miss however. Be sure to stop at El Rincon for some excellent coffee anytime!

Rooms overlooking the courtyard/pool were usually quiet (outside of occasional yahoos) clean and comfortable. All inclusive buffet was average as were many of the on site restaurants. Pool bar and poolside servers were excellent (Carlos and Cesar in particular)

We really enjoyed our time here in our swim out room on the Hacienda side. Being able to jump in our own pool everyday, was the best way to beat the heat, and once the waiters realized we were out there they would pop through the bushes to bring us drinks, which was amazing. The afternoon thunderstorms were not a problem and actually beautiful to watch and listen too. The Talavera restaurant was our favorite, but we also tried La Catrina and Il Delice. La Catrina was second and Il Delice was just okay. We ate at the Hacienda buffet every morning and got great omelettes. The only con of coming in the summer was mosquitos. They were a minor problem, but my wife was smart and bought a mini bug zapper which worked quite well in the room, and then bug spray and bug bands. I don't think I got bit once. It is very hot and humid, and it is rainy, but coming in the off season worked out for us.

The biggest problem was you could hear a conversation through the walls of our room.

Great value for the money. Pools and common areas are very pleasant and human-scale. The Mediterranean villa style is really charming and they pull it off well. Food offer can be improved, but it does the job. Staff is attentive, professional and accommodating. Our checkin concierge, Melanie, was the highlight of our checkin and overall stay. Kudos to Melanie.

This was our 2nd time visiting The Hacienda at Krystal Grand in PV, MX. The staff is amazing from the entry area, specially Jesus, that gives you a warm welcome, to the pool bar area. Brandon at the pool bar also granted us a home feeling with great knowledge of the drinks. At the pool area, Carlos and Cesar made our pool enjoyment as if we were in our own house. The restaurants could improve in the food offered although the service of the waiters, Ivan and Cristian was exceptional. They were great going between tables and treating all guests with the same service. I will definitely return to The Hacienda in the future.

Had a very nice stay at Hacienda. Cleanliness 3.5/5, service by staff is 4.5/5, food was 3.5/5 unless you make a reservation to their restaurants. Hacienda for adults only was fantastic, the property was much cleaner than the main Krystal Grand. It was quiet at night and security does a fantastic job of telling other guests to be respectful of others sleeping. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. I would definitely go back.

Really clean property, really friendly and attentive and staff. Sales staff (for Krystal Rewards) were REALLY pushy, which was annoying. Perhaps it's because we went towards the end of busy season/beginning of the off season, but there were 2 of 7 nights that all property restaurants were closed, many nights only one restaurant was open. We were able to enjoy the great breakfast buffet on the Hacienda side only once before it was closed for the duration of our stay. On 2 occasions, we weren't given any options other than eating on the beach one night and eating in a banquet room setting on another. Also, because of the reduced restaurant availability and difficulties actually getting a table at a reasonable hour, we were only able to experience 1 of several restaurants on the property. Overall the food was really good though (except for the beach day, where it was not good at all). When you pay to stay in an adults only resort, but are forced to eat with families and young children, you should no longer be paying a premium for the private, adults only experience.

First upon our arrival we were invited to a “welcome breakfast” that became a 3hr sales pitch with extremely rude and disrespectful people trying to sale us the $10,000 usd membership with long term annual fees (beware is a scam if you look it up) they didn’t want to take a no for an answer. The reservation restaurants are terrible I think the breakfast buffet is the only good option in their all inclusive. Their snack is average and the dinner is truly bad almost all is just reheated food from the snack, I recommend to better go out and have dinner at some nicer restaurants. When the hotel is full, there are just a few places to lay down next to the pool area so if you don’t reserve a lounger or bunk bed it will get full really early and you will have to sit on the floor. The hotel is beautiful but before it was a Hilton so that’s probably why, after Krystal acquire the hotel it went a bit downhill.

I truly enjoyed every moment I spent at this location. I stayed at La Hacienda which is the adults only part and it was absolutely relaxing. Maribel at the cafe in the front was outstanding. She really took care of us as much as she could and if I ever stay again at La Hacienda is because of her. The whole staff goes above and beyond for everyone. The hotel is also very close to everything. I felt very safe and welcomed here.

We arrived around 2pm to join a larger group of friends and family that were in Puerto Vallarta for the weekend. We Tried to check in on the Krystal Grand side but Juan rudely told us that our reservation was only for 1 person and that we needed to go complete our check in on the Hacienda side of the property. On the Hacienda side the check in person that assisted us called someone to explain that we booked through Expedia and the reservation was intended for 2 people. They allowed it, registered us and told us our room would be ready after 3pm. We returned at 3pm for our keys and when we arrived at our room the AC was not working. It was set at 65 but the room temp was 82. We called maintenance and they sent someone after we called 3 times. The maintenance guy "released some trapped air" and told us to give it about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes we didnt feel an improvement and asked to be switched to another room. First they told us they were fully booked and couldn't accommodate and after expressing our frustration we were assisted by another person that claimed he was going to hook us up with an upgrade. The upgrade was useless to us and all we asked for was the type of room we pre-paid with an AC that works. After all that they assigned us a room and when we got there they keys didnt work. The administration staff is a nightmare. If it wasn't for the service staff we wouldnt even rate this place a 1 star.

Breakfast and lunch was really good Dinner was mediocre. However it is close to the Malecon which has so much to do. The staff at resort will go above and beyond to make you happy. The resort is close to alot. We walked to alot of places we went. It was safe to go off the resort also. We loved our swim out room.

What we liked about the property was tgat it was at walking distance from the beach, entertainment every night, the staff was very professional and polite.

Nuestra llegada fue sencilla aproximadamente a 15 minutos del aeropuerto. The Hacienda es un área muy tranquila y muy bonita solo para adultos, las habitaciones son amplias y muy bonitas, limpias con almohadas y cama cómoda. Las albercas son muy bonitas y los meseros muy serviciales. Solo tuvimos varios inconvenientes, un día no nos hicieron la limpieza de la habitación y otro día no nos rellenaron el frigo. Tambien en el área de snack no te permiten entrar sin cubrirte, lo cual me parece absurdo ya que está frente a la alberca además no tienen ningún señalamiento o nos comentaron eso hasta que una señorita nos impidió la entrada de una manera muy grosera y sarcástica le pidió a mi esposa que se tapara y se pusiera un short. El hotel no cuenta con acceso directo a la playa así que hay que caminar hacia el hotel vecino Krystal grand por un puente, y el cual tiene alcohol y comida de menor calidad así como un ambiente familiar con mucho ruido; la verdad esa área no nos gustó. Nos dieron un checkout tardío ya que se retrasó nuestro vuelo y pudimos asearnos en una habitación a la cual nos dieron acceso. En general es una buena experiencia y the hacienda es muy bonito y agradable, solo vivimos algunos detalles y el hotel vecino no fue mucho de nuestro agrado.

Nice place to stay in! It wasn’t too crowded when we stayed in the month of May. You have access to Krystal Grand and Hacienda which is a nice plus as Krystal Grand is more family friendly and Hacienda is for adults and more quieter. The food was not bad but could improve. You also have to make a reservation for the restaurants for the dinner option but if you don’t make it on time you are out of luck. We managed to get one on our last night only after talking to reception. You also have to pay a fee for room service. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. No complaints on that. Overall it was a very nice experience.

My wife and I chose the swim out king bed suite on the Hacienda side of the resort for a ten day honeymoon stay. Overall it was a fantastic experience! We loved our room, there was no surprises, the pictures matched the room exactly. Swim out pool was awesome, nice to be able to cool off and have a drink or two but still maintain your privacy if desired. The pool was sheltered from the rest of the ground level of the resort by a beautiful wall of jungle vegetation. Only the rooms directly above us with a balcony would have been able to see in. Food was great all around. At both the buffet and the select restaurants. It was nice to have options for breakfast buffet with both adults only (open air only) or open to everybody but with a/c seating. The overall location in PV was rather ideal as we could get a cheap 100 peso Uber ride or taxi into downtown and to the Malecon (takes about 15-20 min depending on traffic) but also simply walk 10 min to the PV marina for boat tours and other fun activities. The staff were amazing to us the whole stay. They are attentive enough without hovering or annoying anyone and when you required assistance with anything they were ready to help in every way possible. The property is not brand new but has been diligently maintained, the adults only side doesn't get the beach view but has a wonderful green landscape full of local and tropical vegetation. The building really gives off colonial Hacienda style vibes! Would definitely stay here again!

We were upgraded to a suite with a pool. The room was wonderful, great location and the pool was fantastic. Overall the room was great, but could definitely use some TLC and updates. The air conditioning in our room was VERY loud. It was near the pool so was loud outside, but that didn't bother us at all. We enjoyed the music and hustle and bustle. The CG pools are filled with families and kids. The 5th floor pool is party central and the Hacienda pool was beautiful and adult only. The food was decent. Similar to a cruise. The drinks were plentiful but until you asked for alcohol in the drink, they were more virgin like. The beach was incredible. Lots of chairs and umbrellas, the water was so clear, and the sand was raked every morning. We would go back knowing that the experience is like a cruise ship on land!

REVIEW FOR KRYSTAL GRAND ONLY NOT THE HACIENDA SIDE Pros: easy to walk around and close proximity to downtown, shopping centers, the marina and grocery stores. The staff are wonderful and super nice. Owest (sushi bar 18 pool) was the highlight of our stay. Pretty quiet and lots of infinity pool space to relax and watch the sunset. The food was decent (not the breakfast it was terrible), but im not a super picky eater and usually just ate salad, yogurt and Ceviche (so good) the whole time. If youre picky with your food you may not enjoy your stay as much. If you go to the steakhouse get the beef fillet its was so good and tender. Cons: Our room frequently smelt of sewage and the shower was spotty going from sprinkles to normal pressue. It was frequently cold water coming from the shower as well. The bedding is another, the sheets were clean but the douvet underneath the cover was really gross, stained and honeslty shouldnt be reused. One of the elevators were not functioning and when it would get down to the main floor you had to hold on the open button and pry open the door (if you're alone good luck). We ended up getting off on the second floor and taking to stairs. This was reported to the desk but remained an issue throughout our stay. Overall i did enjoy my stay but no way is this at all a 5 star hotel. My intitial search shows it listed as a 5 star but I believe that may just be the rating for the Hacienda side only.

Great place with nice pool and access to the beach through the Krystal Hotel. Room was nice and the hotel is about an hour walk from Puerto Vallarta downtown. Several restaurants and a nice buffet every day. I would stay here again.

There’s a lot that’s needed to be addressed. Room service is supposed to be included in my package but they charge $10 us for each delivery. Food and liquor was horrible. Good way not to eat or Drink much. Had to leave resort to have anything that was good. Disappointed for sure.

Generally, I had a great time and the staff really were incredible. However, I do think they need to put some more work into the variety of the food they serve. It is basically the same exact dishes everyday, all day. Variety would be nice.

Didn’t like that the main buffet was at the kids side. Very limited options for food. We ate out quite a bit. No Entertainment unless you went to the kids side. No music at the pool.
