Loved that we were greeted with some bubbly upon arrival..such a nice treat! Cannot beat the views! Waterfront saunas were on point! Such a unique and special place. Oh and the resident sea lions were the highlight of the whole experience! Highly recommend!

The property was beautiful. Clean and modern with a gorgeous view. Check-in was easy, and we had champagne upon arrival. The room was spacious, and I loved the decor and all the small touches. We also utilized the on-site sauna, which was amazing. We walked downtown and enjoyed the restaurants, as well as a farmers' market. I would recommend this hotel and stay here again.

Last minute booking, what a great find and stay. The property is waterfront with amazing views. This new hotel is well designed and has so many fun features. Don't miss the personal waterfront saunas, the comfy slippers and bathrobes. The restaurant and bar were great and the food was delicious and unique. Parking street side was easy and the location is close to everything in Astoria.

The Bowline Hotel is in an amazing location right on the Columbia River. Our room was very comfortable and the view was great. There were sea lions roaming under the pilings the hotel is build on, and in the water next to the hotel. The Bowline is in very easy driving distance to the museums and restaurants in Astoria, but the whole Astoria boardwalk area was not very lively the weekdays we were there. Parking is on the street unless you use the hotel's valet service. Our breakfast, which was not part of our room charge, was very nice. We would stay here again.

definitely different -- great views, fantastic staff, super drinks, and thank goodness the sea lions seem to have gone to bed. PS don't forget the welcome glass of bubbly and a sauna with a glass dome looking into the harbor. :)

Amazing location right on the water and boardwalk/trolly line. Beautiful bar inside, comfortable room with fireplace and access to barrel saunas on the property as well as free bike rentals with a local company. We were able to walk to restaurants/bars and saw some sea lions right outside. In room amenities were great- local coffee and tea with French press and amazing smelling body products. Helpful, friendly staff-Will definitely return.

The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was cozy and comfortable. The Saunas were clean and worked well with a beautiful view. The sea lions were so amazing to listen to. 10/10! Would come back any day!

Great time. Staff was extremely helpful with directions and suggestions for food. The hotel is very nice and being right on the water is very cool. The saunas were easy to use and the windows made the experience very cool during sunset.

The Bowline had a nice location. I enjoyed the double shower and big tub. However when we got into our room there were crumbs on the couch and the little fan was extremely dusty. They say you have blackout curtains but they are not. Highly recommend bringing a mask to keep the street lights out of your eye's as you sleep. And I hope you can sleep with the sound of the boulders being rolled under your room. Seems they have loose pilings that bang all night with the waves. They also shake the building. I got no sleep. I also recommend they improve the lighting in the room. The bulbs on the sides of the couch and bed are extremely bright and they need lighting in the little coffee bar. Also I hope they will check the honey sticks they have on the coffee bar. Mine had turned to sugar. Glad I brought my own. They also need recycling bins in the rooms. Surprised they didn’t have them. All hotels I’ve stayed in do.

Spider webs covering chairs and tables outside made it difficult to enjoy the view from the patio. Room had flies and other bugs along with spider webs throughout. Sink was clogged, making it slow to drain. Blow dryer wouldn’t work on “high” setting. Limited bathroom counter space. Bathtub truly is exposed to entire room, including sitting area and outside of your curtains aren’t closed. I could have used more hangers considering robes take up 2 of them. Appreciated the complimentary beverage, lotions and cleansers were pleasant scent, and the bed was VERY comfortable (but not the overstuffed pillows). No microwave in room.

I really enjoyed the property. Cute room, plenty of space, great views to watch the ships come in and just relax on the balcony. I had a few minor issues that were easy to ignore. My room was directly over the bar so you can hear/feel the music until it closes. Fruit flies in the bathroom was the only thing that was hard to ignore.

The hotel is walking distance to a bunch of restaurants, bars, breweries etc. didn’t have to move my car. The hotel is right on the water, the rooms with the water view is way better than viewing the railroad tracks ( only because homeless people are living under the tracks) The rooms are a good size. It’s not super clean. The coffee press still had a little bits if coffee grind in them ( it wasn’t cleaned out very well so didn’t use). The bed wasn’t as comfortable for me because it was way to soft. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant/bat made yummy cocktails and the food was good. I would definitely stay here again because it’s prime location.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, amazing location. Unfortunately the bed was terrible, lumpy and uneven, made for a rough night of sleep. Sea lions are extremely noisy, we were got a kick out of them but light sleepers beware.

If your room does not face the ocean, you may not get a breeze. No air conditioning and the fans help but not enough. Bed was soft, shower head needed to be descaled so water would blow properly. No elevator to second floor so if you have trouble with steps that would be a problem.

We love staying at Bowline. It was our 3rd trip and 1st time staying on the second floor. We’ll never go back down. Less sea lion noise and better riverview. Can’t wait to go back!

Great location right on the Columbia River, walking distance to the downtown section, right on the Riverfront Trolley line. It was a warm day when I arrived, and my room was south-facing, and very, very warm. There was a ceiling fan and a table fan, but being right on the street, I thought it imprudent to leave the window open to cool the room down. Bad timing, and no ac. I was not a fan of the bed, very squishy matress, personally prefer firmer, but the linens were lovely. I had an excellent meal at The Knot, salmon chowder, focaccia bread, and a seasonal Lemon Drop, all reasonably priced. I thought the room was overpriced.

Bowline has fantastic rooms and we loved being right in the heart of downtown Astoria. The staff was welcoming and everything was very easy. The major negative is that for the price, these rooms are way too noisy. It’s very hard to sleep given the walls are very thin. We found this was a great place to experience but not somewhere you can go to get peace and quiet.

Almost everything about this property is great, the rooms are very noisy. We could heat everything our neighbors said, including their 5 am alarm. They do provide ear plugs for sea lions, but you’ll also want them for the other guests. When you’re paying so much for a room I would have expected not to hear the people in the others rooms as much.

Amazing staff, great room and view! Very clean and unique. Most comfortable bed and pillows we’ve ever had at a hotel! We love everything about this place. My wife travels all over the U.S., all the time and this is her favorite room she has ever had.

We highly recommend a stay at the Bowline. Clean, comfortable rooms with an awesome view (we stayed in 39). The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Lots of places within walking distance. The one complaint we have is the lack of microwave in the room, really inconvenient to not be able to warm up leftovers. I heard there is a microwave in the main hotel area but thats not a fun option if the weather is bad or you want to stay in your PJs.

So so loud. Many people had complained about the sea lions but that’s not the issue we had. The 1st floor suite has a paper-thin roof, meaning you can hear EVERY SINGLE FOOTSTEP of the people staying in the room above you. Awful nights sleep. I spoke to front desk upon checking out and they acted surprised. Strange as it’s a structural problem, not variable like sea lions barked at each other. I gave the hotel multiple opportunities to respond to my feedback however after a month, and several emails, I’ve had zero response, so hopefully this review with serve as caution to avoid the 1st floor rooms AT ALL COSTS.

A wonderful boutique hotel in Astoria. Every detail considered- welcome drink, bath products, bath robes, bedding, and beautiful branding of all materials in the room. Staff was very welcoming and helpful and all facilities were very clean. In a cool repurposed cannery building, and in a neat spot of town close to restaurants and shops. On-site restaurant and bar served delicious food and drink. Accommodating to dogs and a great spot to start our trip down the Oregon Coast.

I was drawn to this hotel by the beautiful seaside views in the photos and booked a night for a special birthday trip, despite the high price of around $480. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. There was no parking on-site — we had to rely on valet parking and pay extra. Breakfast was not included, and if you wanted it, you had to arrange and pay for it the night before. The water pressure in the shower was so low it was barely usable, and the check-in process was confusing and unpleasant. It took place at a small table next to the bar, with only one staff member who was quite rude when I asked for help. For the price, I expected much better service and amenities. Sadly, the stunning view was the only highlight of our stay.

The room was great and the bed was very comfortable. I found the sound of sea lions to be a highlight of the hotel. There were two things we didn’t love: 1. The bathroom door doesn’t allow for privacy. It slides one way or the other leaving a gap on either side. 2. The female employee working the morning of 11.9.25 was very unfriendly, verging on rude. She seemed generally annoyed with us as soon as we sat down for breakfast. We hadn’t finished ordering our meal when she walked away. It felt like we were putting her out. The 1st floor suite has a paper-thin roof, meaning you can hear EVERY SINGLE FOOTSTEP of the people staying in the room above you. Awful nights sleep. The property is adorable, but the staff was less than helpful. During check in, guests are provided with a glass of bubbly, which is a nice touch. While we were checking in and drinking our bubbly, a staff member needed to move past an older member of our party. The staff member simply walked up to a 78 year old woman and demanded she “move”. In fairness, the front desk is in the middle of their bar area, so I’m sure we were in the way, but some manners would have gone a long way. Also during the process, I asked if the hotel was not busy, if I could pay to upgrade to a view room and was told no, that I would have to call Expedia, because they monitor the room types and the hotel can not change them. Perhaps this is this is the case, but I have never heard that before or after that one night of our trip. During our check out, the same older member of our group asked the rude staff if it would be possible for her to call us a taxi and was told “No, I don’t do that. Call one yourself”. I do not typically leave negative reviews, the reason I am doing so in this case is because the owners of this property have obviously spared no expense renovating the place and they deserve to know what’s happening during the guest experience.

The entire stay was perfect. The staff was as warm and welcoming as it gets. Extremely comfortable beds, beautiful location and the sea lions really were the cherry on top. Can’t wait to stay here again

The Bowline Hotel is in an amazing location right on the Columbia River. Our room was very comfortable and the view was great. There were sea lions roaming under the pilings the hotel is build on, and in the water next to the hotel. The Bowline is in very easy driving distance to the museums and restaurants in Astoria, but the whole Astoria boardwalk area was not very lively the weekdays we were there. Parking is on the street unless you use the hotel's valet service. Our breakfast, which was not part of our room charge, was very nice. We would stay here again.

The good: Very friendly and helpful staff. Great bar. Great location. But the restaurant has a limited menu (they ran out of everything we could eat for dinner and we had to find another option). Breakfast is not included and options are limited. Here’s the big one: Extremely soft, low and uncomfortable bed. We stay in a lot of hotels and have never encountered a bed like this.

Bowline is amazing! We loved the property and had drinks that night, which were delicious. We upgraded to a river view and I'm so glad we did. We had a little balcony and sat outside with our complimentary champagne when we arrived. The bed was very comfortable, and it was very nicely decorated. We could walk everywhere downtown and found the hotel to be very quaint. I can't wait to stay there again!

It was very clean and well appointed. The location is fabulous for someone who wants to walk around Astoria and enjoy all the shops and great seafood. The staff were attentive and welcoming. The Knot's food was great quality and their drinks, delicious! Try the Mai Tai!

Absolutely top notch. Might be one of my favorite hotel experiences. The room is awesome. The view stunning! The food excellent! Walking distance to everything. The bed and linens are heaven and the sauna looking out to the river and cargo ships absolutely masterful! We ate dinner out on the patio next to the fire pit and had dessert in our room. The dessert was unbelievable. I can’t wait for breakfast to have room service again. And on top of all that check out isn’t. Until 12 o’clock! This is a must have experience.

The rooms have a lovely view right over the Columbia River. You can watch the seals and sea lions all day! (The sea lions aren’t that noisy but you can definitely hear them.) The bar had surprisingly good food. Probably better than the other meals we had in Astoria! Very friendly service

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bowline Hotel. We were 4 with 2 dogs, and it worked out well. The location is perfect, right on the Columbia River. It is a little spendy, but it's high tourist season in Astoria. I would definitely stay at the Bowline again.
