Kiwi International Hotel

Get what you pay for - cheap hotel equalling cheap rooms and facilities. Elevator out of order till the last night of my stay. Have daily housekeeping. However, the just rinse the dishes off instead of cleaning them or replacing them. Luggage storage is available. However, it is just you sticking it in this huge room with a bunch of other bags. No organization. No control/monitoring to see if you take only their bag. Internet was good when it worked - unfortunately, it did not consistently work.

Cheap room but then had to pay $48 for parking. No aircon, had a fan because it was hot. Stayed on the ground floor with cars parked right outside meaning car doors closing all hours and people talking. Shower was cold then burning hot - very intermittent. Wouldn’t recommend ground floor rooms. Good location though, close to lots of eateries and bars and bus stops near by.

I thought the extra charge of $30.00 for car parking on site was unnecessary which should have been included in the accommodation.

Easy to book. Easy to check out. Rooms were set up. But elevator needs to be looked at.

Pay the extra money and stay elsewhere! I mean, unless you're the people who stay up late partying, yelling, and blasting music with your room door open, then this place is for you! After those people quieted down a group started up outside in the parking lot well after midnight. Since there's no a/c we had the windows open making it super loud. The room was tiny, the curtains had mold on them and the shower doesn't have any kind of shelf to put soap or shampoo on. The room door doesn't have a deadlock and I think the lock could be defeated very easily. A remodel can't help this place, it needs to be torn down. At least it has a lift and the staff were pleasant. They offer luggage storage for free but all they do is unlock a door to the storage room for you. There's nothing to stop other guests from going through your stuff or even just taking it altogether.

My hotel for Auckland stays. Handy for buses downtown and great for nearby K road. There are a number of steps leading up to the hotel foyer male staff have often helped me with my case/s up them which has been super. Super shuttle normally stops at bottom of drive on Queen street due to difficulty turning around the site so luggage has to taken up a slope to the hotel.Good value but I sure wish they would put soap holders in the showers in rooms with facilities..I find the side facing the park quieter but not necessarily on Friday/Saturday nights. Hotel restaurant once functional has not been open for quite some years and who knows if if will ever open again. Its a common room now.I recommend The White Lady at start of St Kevins arcade in K Road less then 5 minutes walk great for tasty, generous inexpensive takeaways.If you forget something eg a torch , get the bus or walk down Queen Street left hand side as far as Daiso I love that low priced shop.

Stayed 4 nights :Private room is adequate for solo person with tea/ coffee making facilities. There is No tv in room nor downstairs that l saw. There is No kitchen/Fridge either just a corner with a toaster & microwave. plenty of hot water & shared bathrooms always clean. Great location, No issues with drunks or late party noise. Easy access for bars etc. In K road & city with a park 2 mins away & a comedy club 3 mins away. Be aware deposit required in case of damage is a bit excessive @ $100. Overall for the price , location , comfy bed l would reccomend this hotel even tho it needs a refresh & yes l would stay here again if ever in nz

Put in a room next to the laundry. Woken up at 8am daily by very loud staff shouting the days orders to each other. They claim to have a pool table, but it's been out of service for two years. The hotel itself was fine but it was not efficiently run nor pleasant to stay at.

It was easy to walk around downtown from here and it had the basic amenities we needed. They provided instant coffee and orange peokoe tea in the room. They also had a microwave and vending machine on the ground floor lounge/common room.

Clean room courteous staff

Place was undergoing renovation. Staff not friendly. More interested in looking on their phones. No cafe or able to get food. Place was noisy. Bedrooms and sheets were not clean. Place is dated. Needs a paint. Bathrooms were mouldy and not clean. Everything else is well below par. Place is located next to the Mormon church. If you want a cheap place for a night in downtown Auckland fine, but that is about all it is.

Was ok for the price. Very old property, which would be very hard to keep clean. Bedding needs updating and sheets pillows were white but did have marks. Could hear neighbours and did have someone try to get into our room with their key close to midnight. Also our daughter had a number of bites in the morning. Location was handy for what we were in town for. Had luggage storage which was handy and 2 small tvs, check in was easy.

While staying here I got bed bugs. Not just a couple of bites ALOT. It’s unclean dates and not quiet at night. I would recommend paying a bit more for better accommodation.

Central location, towels, tea, coffee etc, soap, hair care products all provided. Room was clean and serviced. It was lovely and quiet even though we were in the middle of town. Loads within walking distance and staff were fantastic. Thank you :)

The room was fine & clean - the furniture in the lobby & common room needs to be thrown out in the trash. It is all extremely dirty. I would not even sit on it. Staff is very limited in what they can do. Basically on your own to figure everything out.

Clean room, central location, pleasant staff.

The fridge in the room is very noisy. I turned it off. But even more noisy things are other guests of the hotel. There were many guests who speak loudly in the corridor in the midnight (especially Friday night). The room door is automatically locked when it is closed, but if you do not close it firmly enough, the latch does not work, and it is not locked. One day, when I came back to the room, the door was not closed firmly enough, so I could open the door without the key. Apparently, the staff who cleaned up the room did not close the door firmly. One day, a corner of a bed sheet was yellow and dirty. One day, the floor of the restroom was not very clean after the room cleaning. On the other hand, the equipments of the rest room, the water tab, and the shower room themselves are very clean. I especially like the steal floor of the shower room. It was very clean. Some of the staffs at the reception were also good.

Extremely clean room and ammenities for the price

The lift is frankly scary, it works but feels like your getting yeeted to the past. The room was waaayy to hot and the only solutions were leaving the window open to street noise or a noisy af fan or the door open which leaves you with no privacy as the rooms are small and out of date. Only bonus was that the room was clean other than that the only good thing is the pictures or a semi-nice lobby No utensils or plates and only 1 microwave and toaster for the whole place and only a tiny fridge in room therfore most of our food went off or got frozen because it was a terrible and cheap appliance. Parking is overpriced and the only benefit is off street, there's support beams and pot holes for africa. Customer service was average and frankly passive aggressive if not overall short with us. WIFI was dogy. Would not recommend, cheap and nasty.

The room was small and had no air conditioning

Wi-Fi was weak on floor 1. It was non-existent when I moved to flour 2. My bed fell apart. I told the man to use glue to fix it, but he didn't. So it fell apart again the next night.

Was noisy with doors slamming all night and people congregating in hallway.

Great location and excellent staff! Beds were comfortable. Rooms are small, but for this price and location, its just fine. Get the red City Line bus to the harbour.

The hotel is old and tired but still as comfortable as ever, and within walking distance of the center. The rooms are just what you need for a good night sleep. No A/C units in rooms, they can get quite hot in Summer during the day.

The single rooms are super small, cramped, draughty, and dank. I’d recommend paying a little extra for a bigger room.

Happy enough for the price. Super convenient location to base from for a concert, without being too expensive. Rooms are basic and quite dated, but fine if you aren't picky!

Great value for money budget hotel. Small basic rooms. But considering the price this is really good value. Costing only slightly more than a private room in a hostel.

Totally overpriced for what it was. Everything is old and run down. I could have booked at Sky City for only another $15 per night. No plugs beside bed and only one plug in the whole room with a multi box attached. Windows and doors don't shut tight and the whole place very noisy.

Staff are amazing,helpful and friendly.Bed was comfortable and room was very clean and tidy. Good location, to shops and public transport. Over all, a wonderful stay.

Excellent for your first arrival to New Zealand. Is near to everything you might need; the public library is around 3 blocks away for any doc printing you might need. There are all the major bank branches near and money exchange stores. Also, if you don´t have car, there are several bus stops near the hotel. My room was clean and quiet, and the bathrooms and toilets were clean an well serviced. The staff was nice and friendly.

Great location, very old hotel. Our room pretty dark and dingy, and a bit musty smelling on arrival, Not sure what other rooms are like, but definitely felt more like a hostel than a hotel. Did the job of horizontal sleep support and was clean. Power cut to our room(others appeared to have power) in the evening and no-one on the front desk to assist wasn't ideal.

Everything is good for the price, except that one night, someone was able to unlock and open my door. It was a good thing that I have the metal chain lock on, so that person wasn't able to open it all the way since the chain stopped the door. Even though the chain stopped the door, that person was still trying to get in which woke me up. I came to the door and I gave the knob a slight push to close the door. That person responded by saying something along the line, "Sorry, I didn't know that someone is in there" and then closed the door. I heard him jogging down the hallway. After this, I was trying to gather my thoughts on what happened. Then, I called the reception, but no one picked up. So went to sleep after I close the door and prop the chair up against the door. The next morning when I checked out, I told the staffs at the reception desk, and they apologized but didn't seem too concern (ie didn't try to look at any security footage to see if I can identify the individual or see if a police should be filed). Anyways, this doesn't make me feel safe and will never ever be staying at this hotel again. I don't know if it's one of the staffs who accidently opened the room b/c they were hoping to get some shut eye for that shift or if it was a random stranger who has a key to that room. Either way, it's not a good look. Things could've gone bad if I didn't have the metal chain lock on.

Maori lady at reception was snarky, rude and had a horrible attitude towards me and the other guests checking in at the same time as us

Very friendly staff. I received a very warm welcome. All staff were friendly and helpful especially staff at the main desk. I would stay again and recommend to others

Worst receptionist ever , have been in hundreds of hotels. Unbelievable rude and unfriendly. Very worn out hotel , not really clean only good thing is the situation in the mid town. Not worth it to save the money.

Affordable, location great, a few minutes walk to marina and shops. Laundry room and park next door.

It s just they offer. Is clean and quiet. Near downtown and the train station.

The only issue was finding the entrance to the hotel. You must go down an alley to get in. If you are used to American style rooms this is not the place for you. We had a family room with 3 adults it was cramped but since we were only sleeping & gone all day it worked great. There are lots of hills so bring good walking shoes. The staff was great and very friendly like all New Zealanders. The room & hotel was very clean.

Great budget stay for families. We’ll equipped kitchen and clean overall. No air conditioning but a small fan in each room. Parking for a fee.

A budget hotel in a convenient location. It was a shame the restaurant was closed, as there weren't many dining options open for breakfast nearby.

Hotel is well located for easy trips to Auckland center, on foot or by bus. Lots of convenience stores one street away. Does not serve breakfast and not many options around unfortunately. Shared bathrooms are ok, just the essentials. The common room is big and comfortable, good place to do some reading or prepare your next adventures. Staff is polite, friendly, helpful, and smiling. It's not a deluxe hotel, but for what it is it's great value and a convenient location. The restaurant has been closed for some time, but there are many great dining options right around the corner on the K-Road.

It had good beds and the room was clean and ensuite was good. I don't like whitener in my coffee. The nearby club which was playing loud techno music all night was annoying. The position of the hotel is quite hard to get to or to find. The steep climb up Queens Street from the main shopping centre makes it inaccessable if staying for any length of time. No dining facilties at the hotel is a drawback as well. I did not feel unsafe in the room but outside in the street I did. I may stay again if I was only staying overnight.

Our room was clean, no milk supplied, creamer sachets supplied instead, towels supplied but no face cloths, bed very comfortable, only one pillow each but no need for two as pillows extremely comfortable, happy with room, we have stayed here a few times now, affordable and convenient, easy walking distance to CBD. Dining facility now closed, we had breakfast there once, it was nice but no longer available

The room was very clean, the beds were very comfortable. Towels were clean and fluffy. Reception staff were very pleasant and super helpful. There are many dining options with in walking distance. It could be helpful to create a cooking space in the unused kitchen for families trying to cater for children

The only downside was the breakfast/restaurant being closed. Otherwise overall very good..
