Very convenient and competitively priced for central Birmingham and the NIA/Utilita Arena. Car park very small and very tight if you have a bigger car. Bar was closed by 11 and the rooms are very basic and could do with a refresh - our room has a stained carpet. Beds quite hard too! Staff were lovely and friendly though and it suited our purposes as a bed for the night.

I stayed for a show at the Arena which is a short walk away. Also went to the cinema which is just up the road. Location is grand, on the main strip, conveniance shops right next door. The hotel has about 50 parking spaces in an underground car park, it was full by 4.00 but ok when I got there. £18 for the night. Staff were very nice, especially a lovely lady at breakfast. Room fine, large bed. Separate toilet and bathroom which is unusual. Enjoyed breakfast, veggie sausages provided without having to ask. Had to sit a bit outside the restaurant as it was full. Got 15% off drinks in the bar. A good stay.

Great hotel. Conveniently located for the Utilita and short tram into city centre. Car parking underneath although spaces are narrow and spaces are on a first come first serve basis. Room was comfortable. Staff were friendly. We didn’t have food but had a drink in the bar which had a nice atmosphere and not too pricey

This is in a great location and is generally tidy. The rooms are in need of a bit of updating. I was worried that the location would make it noisy but actually the outside environment was quiet by eleven o clock and the hotel windows blocked out the road noise well. The noise from other guests however was irritating and stopped me getting a good nights sleep. More an issue with the large family who were inconsiderate rather than anybother reason. The parking is very tight and I had some damage to my car when I went to leave so be aware if you have a larger car. The staff however were lovely, courteous and effecient.

Booked as a weekend stay, restaurant & bar was good with friendly & helpful staff. Reception staff also very good. Hotel was lovely & clean. Utilita arena about an 8 minute walk along the canal where there are bars & restaurants along the way. If your disabled like me, I'd suggest stopping outside front of the hotel to drop your bags before parking your car in the underground car park as you have to walk up a flight of stairs to gain access to the reception & there is no lift.

Our second stay at this hotel and this time with extended family so we booked 3 rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean. It will get slightly noisy especially on a Saturday night being in the location with plenty of nightlife on the doorstep. There are 2 small lifts and unfortunately only one lift working. It takes longer especially when the hotel was at full capacity. Breakfast was great, for £13.50 per person if you booked the night before. My only constructive feedback is when staff clear up the used empty plates, could they please leave the cutlery so people can re use them for next course. All in all was a good stay, great location for nightlife, food and drink as well as public transportation.

Awful place, reception is ok. Toilets in reception were disgusting & an introduction to the rest of the hotel. Dirty, about 10 years past required refurb, we were upgraded apparently... to have a toilet separate to the bathroom with no sink & hence on cleaning the door handle ourselves the wipe was full of excrement! We've never stayed anywhere quite like this. Do not book this place. Surroundings - homeless literally sleeping on the hotel steps, drugs everywhere, broken bottles all over the reception & front drop off area, staff didn't care & the whole place feels like it's someone's hobby with a feeling that it's actually a front for either a cheap stayover option for their friends, a knocking shop, a drugs den or a combination of all.

My stay was okay, except for the rather poorly cleaned room. It was evident the room had only been surface cleaned. The bath tub still had hair on and in it from the previous guest. I had used a mug on the Thursday and it was wiped down on the Friday, with the coffee stains still in it. Breakfast was okay.

Hotel and room was immaculate, excellent service, hospitality, staff were superb and pleasant, (even when i lost an item and i was an hour away they went looking for it) and breakfast could not fault it. Car parking was ideal which is in the basement and secure. Definately stay again

I stayed here for a concert & apart from sleeping in the room and getting changed, I barely used the hotel, not even for breakfast, but our room was clean and comfortable. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly and the location was perfect, not only for the concert venue but the surrounding areas if you're after bars and restaurants

I have stayed at this hotel before which was an upgrade to my room last night. I felt on the 5th floor was clearly tired and in need of TLC both in the room and on the landing. My room had a cup that had been used on the bottom as an ashtray and had black and yellow burn marks. Just not he experience I had last time as the upgraded rooms are far better

Disappointing stay. Niggles include:- room too warm and ineffective temp control. Uncomfortable pillows. Duvet too small for bed. Not enough charging points, and only one bedside but didn’t work. Poor tv signal. Very small and narrow bath that should be mentioned in hotel info.

The hotel is very well placed, and very close to shopping, places of interest, pubs etc. Stayed there for a night with family, and was given a 2nd floor room. Room size was good. Check-in was fast, and staff were nice. Couldn't able to get a parking in the hotel as was full, but there is a big parking area very close to the hotel. But the sound proofing was bad for which we had lot of noise coming from outside considering it was a Saturday night and people were partying outside in pubs till late night. Also all noise from corridor was clearly audible in the room. so made us have a god sleep after 2am.

The room was on 6th floor. Apparently the hotel was refurbishing some rooms, which is an absolute must… but when you stay for four nights you will be disturbed by the working noise during the day. The room has carpet with disgusting stains. The shower is an old tub. I was surprised the temperature of the water was set to 20 degrees so I have put it to 38… before realising that 20 is the way not to burn yourself. There is an iron with burnt stains. The general atmosphere is bleak. I really regret choosing this hotel and even more having stayed there.

Although the hotel is fine and the check in and out service was excellent, the hotel itself still has a bit of an 80’s look to it. No air con in the room but that wasn’t an issue as it was around 16 degrees outside. Maybe different in the height of summer.

For an expensive hotel, I expected more from the reception staff. It advertised 24/7 food service, when I called the man on reception said “oh, we’ve turned off everything.. We can’t do that’ it was 11.00 pm. Every time zi asked for assistance, it was a problem. Because i wasn’t dressed like a business person, I was challenged to see my room number… no thanks I would not recommend them

No options of earlier check in, no asking if could help with storing bags, no drinks offered… not if had too but could have been more caring rather than wait till 3pm. Could see this when if we’d listened then others weee given rooms at 2.30 and all rushed to counters. Could have been great to be called when ready like in a restaurant with a text or email. We’re told at reception “we have upgraded younfrom a superior to an executive”…. Then minutes later “oh no we aren’t, as you have 4 in room and our upgrade if only for 3 people??!?)”. Such a shock for family that were over moon as we stay in Novotel in France and uk, thought a reward but ends up a punishment. No times for breakfast given No WiFi info provided Called reception 3 times and just cuts off Sofa Bed not made in room and had to wait for housekeeping Room dated with lumpy wallpaper No air con controls Positives Lovely big bed and comfy Surprisingly good sofa bed too Car park underneath 15 minutes to bullring walking Fridge and safe in room Good… just some bits could have made it excellent. My stay would’ve been great but the night staff ruined it from the very first night. The absolute sheer attitude on the guy with the glasses who calls himself a ‘duty manager’ is appalling. He needs to learn people skills and very quickly. On a positive the girl who checked me in Yannis I think I was (apologies for the name error if so) was great and informative, bubbly and welcoming!

The staff were really friendly. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious and the staff so friendly and helpful. The room was OK, though didn't have the best nights sleep. Noisy guests in the corridor and cars racing and beeping horns into the early hours. Bathroom was great and really helpful to have the toilet separate to rest of the bathroom.

My wife is Coeliac and we had breakfast here. The service in regards to this was best practice, for example separate toasters and area for preparing the toast. Overall, was well looked after.

Was upgraded to exec suite although seemed like a standard room to most hotels ive stayed in. Bed was comfy although pillows not. Breakfast was nice but as it was buffet style definitely could've been hotter. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Overall a decent stay

Breakfast was really bad, not only stale food but unwashed dishes and cutler, under staffed and food uncooked and very bad presentation. Room was equivalent of a 2-3 stat hotel at best even though they charge 4-5 star hotel fees.
