Note that there is no bar, nor breakfast or food/drinks of any kind, Executive rooms on 9th floor were OK - but would not recommend this hotel

Stayed 9 nights

I stayed there for 8 nights, possibly the worst hotel stay ever. The elevator that worked was extreemly slow and bumpy. The other elevator appears( based on reviews) to have been nonfunctioning for over a year. In my first room there was no hot water. In the second room I walked into a very hot room with the heat on full blast with a detatched radiator knob. On the second night in that room I was awkoken at 3am by a mouse or rat snacking on sugar packets. I wont stay there again. The staff were helpful and as nice as thay can be working in such an aweful place with no doubt constant complaints. The hallways smelled either of urine or mariajuana, the bar and dining area were under some sort of renovation so thus there were no facilities. Being central on New Steet was nice in some ways but there were people sleeping in an alcove opposite the entrance. On the friday at 11pm there were intermittent fire alarms causing me to get out of bed and leave the building.. there was nothing that they could figure out the alarms. The price was reasonable but check other reviews on other sites if you are thinking of staying there.

Great location. No soundproofing, can hear full conversations through the wall. Mattresses quite worn down to springs so slept on top of the duvet. One lift out of two was out of service for all 4 days. Signs in hallways broken (eg 5th floor), some bits of litter around hotel and in lift. Bathroom smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. New bathrooms which were very good.

Stayed 1 night

The hotel is in an alleyway off of a high street, the alleyway smells like urine and feaces. The check-in desk is behind a security screen with a security office behind that, the security guard was belching and the staff generally could not care less about you. One of the lifts is out of order and the other lift takes 10 minutes to visit all floors and then back down again takes the same. The rooms are filthy. The window, which is actually more like a door, did not stay shut, so had to sleep all night with it open. Other guests partying in their rooms. The public areas are a complete mess. Trollies filled with rubbish and building materials fill the bar area and hallways. The hotel is a complete joke. This is without a doubt the worst hotel in Birmingham. Do not stay here.
