Have no worries about staying in this hotel. Staff so friendly. Spa great tho only allowed an hour. Marvellous.

Very impressive golf spa resort. Staff were great and rooms fabulous. Will definitely come back to play golf .

Ample free parking. The park & ride site is 10 minutes walk away, getting you in to Durham in 10 minutes for a £2.20 day ticket. Luxurious quiet room, tea/coffee making facilities & separate bath & shower. Really good spa treatment & relaxation room with water beds & massage loungers. Well equipped gym, 25m pool with 5 lanes, sauna, steam room & jacuzzi. More facilities available if you are on a spa break. Special thanks to Chloe on spa reception who was really helpful, professional, knowledgeable, and calm under pressure even when large groups arrived simultaneously!

Booked on basis of spa photos. Half the spa photos were off limits. Hotel com say specific spa access for 2 hours at weekend then full. The hotel said 1. Indifferent staff. Ok room. Overpriced experience.

Pool and spa were great, just what we needed.

Room was great. Spa was lovely. Only complaint is restricted hours for kids to use the pool. This should have been disclosed upfront.

Room was brilliant, definitely opt for the premier rooms, spa was okay. Feel like for the price of the rooms you should be give full access to the spa not just the 25m pool, sauna and steam room (which was always very full for the 1hr access you get.

Went for a spa break, exceptional. Booked an extra night for a complete relaxing experience. Staff all excellent, spa very good, clean and relaxing. Food in both restaurants very good. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay at the Ramside during our recent trip to Durham. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the facilities were amazing. The spa was lovely and the three restaurants to choose from were all brilliant.

Came for a special occasion. Although lovely touch to dress the room with petals and towel swan it wasn’t a romantic break. I was very disapointed that we were given a room that was very shabby scuffed paint on walls and had a very strong musty smell throughout our stay. I think it was one off the rooms they use for people bringing dogs. Just felt very dated and in need of refresh. Didn’t even have a hairdryer in room. Overall the hotel grounds are lovely and spa in nice. Food in restaurant was mixed. Had a nice meal there but the breakfast was cold and a bit chaotic in there. Overall didn’t get the experience I thought I would for the price paid sadly. Would not recommend or return. I did give reception my feedback but they didn’t seem to be that bothered about it too. Not the best experience at all.

The setting is beautiful as are the grounds. The staff friendly and welcoming. Only bad point is the rooms especially the bathrooms need some tlc. The mould in our shower was disgusting.

Our stay was very good. The room was very spacious but could have been cleaner. I have lung disease and there was a lot of dust under the sidebourd cabinets. It certainly hadn't been hoovered for awhile. The outside area of the room could also have been maintained. There was a door leading out to a seating area. We didn't have a seat but the rooms the otherside of us did. The outside was grubby and hadn't been looked after so weeds had taken over but it would have been a nice place to sit. Around the outdoor pool area could have been cleaner. I know this is a large hotel and hard to maintain but it is 4 star and you pay 4 star rates so expect 4 star treatment and cleanliness.

Room was nice, big bathroom. Shower door didn’t close properly, extractor fan just above head in shower was filthy. Unfortunately overall cleanliness let it down. Had dinner in rib room, fantastic food. Breakfast nice food, would have loved a pot of tea. Helping yourself to pre made tea wasn’t good. Spa facilities really nice.

Check in was friendly and helpful, room was ready for 2.45pm. Initially the room looked clean however we noticed a large ball of hair on the wall of the shower, clearly this was not cleaned luckily we did not touch it. The pool area was so busy and not a relaxing experience at all we only stayed 10 minutes it was chaos. We reported the room issue to reception and they were unable to move us however they did send someone to clean the room. But we were offered no other compensation on the evening or when we checked out the next day. We have stayed here a number of times but won’t be returning

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The entrance and the adjacent sitting areas are well maintained and nicely decorated. The corridors to the rooms are a little tired woth scuffed tables and slightly dirty carpets. The food in the carvery was wrll below average so we didn't eat in the hotel on the second night. Our room was spacious and well equipped. Some of the furniture in it was a little tired however overall our room was nice.

The hotel swimming pool was lovely as was the food but my room had no heating and broken glass on the floor. I reported this to reception but nothing was done. Also the shower was broken on the wall and low pressure/blocked on the rainforest head. Not impressed if I had my family with me I would have refused to stay in the room.

I heard really good things about Ramside hall but when I arrived my expectations were lowered. Upon arrival, the staff were great, couldn’t fault them. When I got to the room, the room wasn’t great, lights didn’t work, wardrobe was absolutely full of dust, coffee stains on table, carpets stained and there was also stains on the walls. I asked for the room to be checked over, which they did, when I went to the room the second time everything was still the same as before. Was very disappointed, won’t be going back again.

It was a one night stay, but so very enjoyable. The Staff were delightful and so friendly. The room I was in was spotless.

Really lovely venue. Staff were so friendly. Food in the Asian restaurant was lovely and the spa facilities are amazing! Room was lovely and big and an epic sized bath! My only criticism would be that the shower head needs a good clean, but other than that it was great and I will be back!

Most noisy hotel room I have ever stayed in. Right next to reception and on corridor to bars and restaurant.

We've stayed at the Ramside a few times over the years. It's nice enough but not outstanding. Our deluxe room was advertised as having Bathrobes and air-conditioning. It had neither. When i queried this i was informed that only guests on Spa breaks got robes....! (Our booking was made via Expedia so a discrepancy? ) Receptionist said she'd get some sent to our room. She did, so all good. We had breakfast booked next morning which was nice.

Stayed in the standard double room. Lovely decor, plenty of space with big patio doors overlooking the grounds. Loved the food in the restaurant (Charchoa), great quality and excellent service. Enjoyed the hour at the swimming pool and sauna. Also dog friendly in the room which was great. Wi-fi connection was also very good and room came with a big flatscreen TV. The bath in the room was also lovely. Also had a drink in the Clubhouse and the prices were reasonable. Would love to come again and have some Spa treatments (only stayed for 1 night so didn’t have too much time)

Our room was lovely, the hotel is looking a little dated though. The breakfast was nice but £20pp seems a bit steep! The bathroom was huge and we had loads of space in our room, bed was nice.

Lovely stay, but when staying on the ground floor really noisy can hear every conversation and laughter as people come in from a night out so we didn’t sleep well. I actually forgot from last time and should have asked for a room upstairs as we needed to sleep and leave to drive out early.

On thing they need to do is have better lighting in the rooms. It was so dark even with all the lights on I had to use the torch on my phone to read anything. Also - we asked for feather pillows and a blanket as the rooms are usually too hot for us. It was miles too hot. the bed was really comfy though and the hotel is very nice.

This is a lovely hotel with great accommodation and facilities. I had booked a deluxe room and from the Expedia room information this room had AC. Unfortunately, when we got to our room it was very hot ( 31 degrees outside) and it didn't have AC. I went down to the reception desk with my proof of AC showing on that website. Apparently, this is an error!! They do have rooms with AC, but it was £10 extra ( Premium room). After a bit of discussion and the member of staff phoning a manager, we were upgraded for no extra charge ( just a pity it took a phone call). Expedia need to fix this error on their website. Overall, a lovely hotel to stay in.

The staff made our experience fabulous. Everyone we met was helpful, friendly and accommodating. I am disabled and needed to use a mobility scooter to get around, nothing was too much bother. The first room was difficult to access for me, we informed reception and were seamlessly and quickly moved to another room. The restaurants, expecially Fusion were amazing, the food was some of the best we have had! We celebrated our wedding anniversary and my husbands birthday, we were treated to a special desert and our room was decorated with rose petals, towel art and complimentary chocolates. I had read mixed reviews, however, our experience was first class. Yes some areas need touching up a little, having said that, the staff made our visit amazing. Due to medical conditions I didnt know if I would be able to use the spa facilties, Lilly to the rescue!! She escorted us to a different access point, where I was able to park my scooter much nearer, she checked I was able to access the hydrotherapy pool safely, this small act of kindness had an enormous impact on my wellbeing, she made such a difference, what lovely people they all are. Whatever they did, they did with a smile and genuinely cared. The only suggestion I have for improvement would be to have a sign in the car park asking guests using room facilities for events, to respect others by not drivng around the car park at speed or sit revving engines for over an hour, whist blocking access. We will definitely be returni

Very nice property. sorrounded by nice golf courses and conveniently located near the city center. The bar and steak house are worth a try. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff is beyond friendly and attentive.

Lovely stay at Ramside. First time we have been here and we will be back. Staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly. Room was nice, only issue was that it smelt a bit damp when we walked in but opened patio doors and aired it and was ok afterwards. Lovely clean rooms. Beds not the most comfortable. Pillows were lumpy and a double/king size bed would be better than 2 beds put together, kept falling down the middle. Next time may look to upgrade to a premier room. Restaurants are lovely and the food was amazing. Haven’t tried the Asian fusion one yet but heard good things about it. Spa is one of the best ones around. Booked in for a massage. Would highly recommend. Gym and pool area is great for relaxing.

Well, it was money well spent; access to all areas in the resort was lovely, and the customer service was top-notch throughout. I would definitely return in the future. The entertainment center was a welcome addition, making the trip a lot more enjoyable.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights as there was a conference at the hotel. The hotel is big and well used, there is a golf course and spa so always seemed busy. The main issue is most of the staff are young and inexperienced, I left my account open so I could charge dinner and drinks back to the room, this was not done so had to pay as I went, I also booked a dinner reservation at one of the restaurants, this was not done, luckily the restaurant was quiet so was not an issue. Most of the problems were just silly like that. It was just not my cup of tea and would not go back.

Ramside Hall is always an exceptional experience. The grounds, hotel and spa are all beautiful and you feel completely revitalised after a visit. On this occasion I have to give a huge big up and THANK YOU to Leanne -the booking team -who delivered above and beyond to help accommodate me. had to change my accommodation date firstly due to a car crash and secondly when my child care fell through; helping me to accommodate bringing my daughter. She is positive and solutions focussed. She really picked me up with her bubbly approach and her desire to ensure, as a customer, I was beyond happy with my experience. She is a huge credit to Ramside and an ambassador for the group more broadly.

Beware the hidden extras. Turns out that spending £125 on a spa treatment doesn’t let you use the spa facilities before or after the treatment. For that you must spend another £45. And if you don’t spend that you’re only allowed a one hour slot in the pool. It’s an average hotel, with uninterested staff across front of house (cleaning staff were brilliant), very comfortable beds with linen that’s nice but threadbare. Breakfast was average and getting to the location was made harder by the uninterested staff and lack of signage. There is a bottle of cheap wine in the room that invites you to drink it for £32 and a basket of overpriced crisps and snacks but no fridge. Won’t be returning, I’ll be back to the hotels in the city. Shame, but it just seems this hotel is more interested in bigger functions and supporting the gym than the occasional traveller.

The premises are well maintained and picturesque. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were curtious and helpful. The food was delicious. Easy transport into Durham meant we didn't need to drive in.

Very nice out of town hotel - £10-12 Uber trip to the centre. Lovely and helpful staff, nice rooms and a very good breakfast option. Spa and golf course on site which we didn’t use. It was however the first hotel I’ve been to in several years which has disposable plastic cups and individual shampoos, soaps etc in the bathroom. Doesn’t seem the right thing at this time. Otherwise all good.

The room was nice however the bath when used had a foul smell of the sewers.I thought this could of been due to no of being used for a while but it happened again the next morning before we checked out.I find it hard to believe that nobody else had complained about the smell from the bath before we arrived. The food in the Rib room was excellent but we felt so sorry for our waitress as the restaurant was really understaffed and the poor girl was run ragged.

The property has spacious rooms but standard is not 4 stars. The amazing green surroundings compensate for the dated decor of the rooms. Fusion restaurant is not very good.

Beautiful hotel. Delicious food at the Fusion restaurant. Luxury room and bathroom. We only stayed one night and wedding have time to use the facilities unfortunately.
