The Bonham

One of my favourite hotels in Edinburgh. The Bonham is always exceptional whenever I stay from the arrival, you’re always made to feel so welcome. The hotel itself is absolutely spotless and the staff are organised beyond efficiency. The rooms have everything you need and the extras make the stay even more special. The dining and bar facilities are always wonderful and the staff on hand to help with anything. I cannot recommend the Bonhan enough.

The best stay in the most gorgeous hotel! We couldn't have asked for any more, lovely room, spacious and plenty of facilities. We requested parking which was lovely and secure tucked around the back and a reasonable price considering how close it is to the city! If you stay I would recommend going to the bar, amazing rooms with stunning decor.

Just a hidden gem in the heart of Edinburgh. Luxurious and convenient with a great team too. Fab bar & rooms and bonus of off road parking.

Clean and renovated but parking is a pain!

A beautiful, elegant, traditional Scottish townhouse hotel. A quiet oasis ideally situated in Edinburgh’s New Town, 5 minutes walk from the West End. Very helpful staff, lovely bar and restaurant and a great breakfast. You will want to return again and again. We certainly do.

Stayed here a few times, all great, but the increase in parking charges is taking the proverbial!

I’m almost hesitant to let everybody know what an absolutely wonderful, small boutique hotel this is. The service was impeccable. They have a lovely lounge and bar and dining room on site with excellent food. The staff were so conscientious. The hotel itself is gorgeous. They have a beautiful art collection and beautiful woodworking. The rooms are huge. We had a lovely cut lead crystal decanter of whiskey in our rooms as well as all kinds of snacks and a refrigerator with milk for the tea. I really really didn’t want to check out. It’s in a fabulous location. Very close to Dean’s village and The water of Leith walkway, and Stockbridge and downtown. absolute delight!

A wonderful return to a very special place in the heart of Edinburgh. Great service. Excellent food. Relaxing and comfortable decor and surroundings.

A while since ive stayed here. Renovated rooms done to a lovely standard and the car parking at the back of the hotel always a godsend. Didnt eat here on this occasion

The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable with a decent amount of space. The hotel was quiet and the staff were extremely accommodating. The breakfast is top notch. There is something for everyone and staff are super eager to cater to allergies and special diets. The hotel is beautifully designed for an authentic experience that compliments the city.

we were attending a friend's birthday party at the hotel and also staying overnight. From start to finish it was a wonderful experience. The appearance and general ambience of the hotel was both professional and relaxing. Our room was spotless and well appointed( an extremely comfortable bed) Breakfast was delicious. Last but most certainly not least, the staff. The service and attention to detail were superb!

We had high expectations based on the other reviews, and we’re not disappointed . The hotel is beautiful and charming and very clean. I’d loved the decor. All the staff were wonderful. We loved our room. The breakfast was amazing. We stayed in some good hotels on this trip, and The Bonham was our favorite. The Bonham is in a nice upscale neighborhood but if you’re not someone who enjoys walking (or taking taxis) then this hotel may not be for you. If you live in a city and are used to it you may not notice, but it is a 24 minute walk to the castle and around 20 minutes to most of the Edinburgh attractions. There are lots of restaurants a 10 minute walk away. I really enjoyed the walking, but if you’re say an American who is not a city dweller and not used to walking, you should know this before you book. You can always take a taxi or bus - the reception staff will happily get you a taxi, and it’s not that expensive.

The Bonham is in a perfect location and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are a good size. Our only complaint was with the house keeping staff. We left our room at 8:30 am and our room was not cleaned when we returned at 3. This happened 3 times during our week stayed

My wife and I recently stayed at the Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel’s elegant charm and attention to detail created a warm and inviting atmosphere that made our stay truly memorable. The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Our room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and impeccably clean, providing the perfect retreat after a day of exploring the city. The location is ideal, situated in a lovely neighborhood with easy access to Edinburgh’s main attractions. Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to returning to the Bonham Hotel on our next visit to Edinburgh. Highly recommended!

This is clearly not a 5 star property. We were really surprised when we got there and saw the tiny room, the bed was as hard as a wall, the bathroom wasn’t spotless. Honestly not a chance this is a 5 star.

The Bonham Hotel was nice, clean and quiet. We enjoyed the stay.

We had a view of Dean Village from our room. The furniture in the room, the bar and living rooms is very lavish. Cleanliness is excellent. The washroom has heated floors and heated towel hangers. The bartender was so nice to us, he recommended drinks to try and he was on point. They kept our luggage even after we checked out so we could explore the area on foot a bit more. The hotel is only a few minutes of walk from St-Mary’s Cathedral and from the Water of Leith. By far the best hotel I have ever been too. We wish we could have stayed longer.

A really lovely stay. Very attentive staff, great rooms, very clean and in a great position so we could walk to most destinations.

It was a beautiful hotel with many cozy public rooms to hang out in and have a drink or afternoon tea. The food was very good and the location was great. Our room was quite large with big windows and a nice bathroom. Everyone there from the front desk to the bartenders were very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Had a problem with a noisy air conditioner the first nights but taken care of the next night.

Classified as a Garden View Superior King, we were astonished if not stupefied to discover that our room was below street level — allowing us to see pedestrians’ legs close up. What’s more, the bathroom would only accommodate one adult at a time — and the closet space was so minuscule that we couldn’t unpack. The room safe was inconveniently located on a high shelf in the closet, which we couldn’t reach without a chair. We paid approximately USD 500 for the room, fortunately for one night only. The room bore absolutely no resemblance to the garden view rooms showcased on their website. We felt utterly deceived. There was even a maintenance guy literally working right outside our window while we were getting dressed. I am a Japanese national and made the reservation in my name and I can only deduce that the hotel, as they allocated the superior kings from best to worst, gave us the basement — after all, “I’ll not complain”……but I did. To no avail. The front desk staff were at best ambivalent, at worst condescending. We never heard from the manager and there was no effort to recover. Nothing. The only other alternative room was a SUITE by paying a signifucant difference.

Came to Edinburgh for our anniversary but didn’t want to stay in a chain hotel or in the middle of the tourist area. We wanted something that had the charm of the city but also convenient to the tram and rail station as well as walkable too. This hotel checked all of those boxes. It is in the West End and about a 10 minute walk to the tram and Haymarket train station. Even though our day trip tickets were from Waverly, we were easily allowed to board at Haymarket instead. Much closer than Waverly. Deans Village is literally just behind the hotel and was a nice area to walk around. The hotel itself was amazing. Old school elegance, charm even with umbrellas available for the day if you need one. There was even one in our room. There is a lift but we preferred using the beautiful staircase when we didn’t have luggage. The towels are big and fluffy. They do provide wash cloths, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. They have a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, a Dyson floor fan if you get hot, almost instant hot water at the sink and shower, robes, towel warmer, daily housekeeping service (something US hotels don’t all offer especially after COVID). The nespresso machine and coffees were great. They provided a bag of shortbread cookies on arrival and a small chocolate on our pillows each night. The bedding had a nice thick duvet unlike the super flat ones used in US hotels. There was an extra blanket in the closet too. We used both as we slept with the window cracked.

Such a beautiful hotel with old charm but all the amenities you need. The rooms were unusually large for a hotel in the UK. The location was very convenient to walk in Edinburgh . Highly recommend!!!

Absolutely beautiful room and experience! The staff are very kind and professional, and the room was a dream! We had gorgeous views out to Leith, a very comfortable bed, lovely sitting areas, and an exceptional bathroom full of amenities and luxury. The breakfast was delicious, both the hot options and the buffet. Would recommend completely! We had an easy walk into town, but the hotel felt quiet and away from the bustle.

Staff was amazing, very welcoming and accommodating. They put their guests first and it was evident that was one of their values.

The hotel is a 5 star hotel . It is in New Town but walkable to Old Town . The staff was great . Alex was able to get us a reservation at Kyloe Restauant which he recommended and it was awesome . I am not sure what he told them but we were treated like celebrities . Thanks. Highly recommend this hotel!

Loved this property. Our checkin wasn't until 3pm and we arrived at 8am and they allowed us to check in early and rest. The view was amazing, the hotel was very clean and within walking distance of everything

Absolutely exceptional service with considerate and anticipating desk staff who consistently go above and beyond. Beautiful views and walkable location. We can't stop talking about it and can't wait to visit again.

The hotel itself is a luxury hotel. We got everything we needed in our room. The staff are all very nice, however, my Expedia gold VIP membership did not recognised when I check-in. Just be extremely careful when using the hotel parking, the exit is very narrow, have to pay attention when drive in/out. In general, this is a good hotel.

The Bonham is a nice place. Just a tad further away from the Royal Mile than I’d prefer, but still within walking distance.

This lovely hotel was the perfect location for us. Quiet and pretty, we had a view over Dean Bridge. Location is about equidistant and easily walkable in about 15 minutes to Murrayfield Stadium and the Castle/Old town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would absolutely stay here again.

Absolutley lovely one night stay at The Bonham! Location, while not central, was an easy walk to the main attractions and convenient to Haymarket station. We also found a great pub five minutes away tucked along a charming side street. The building is stunning with so many interesting design elements and the room was beautiful. We also really enjoyed the toiletries and the complimentary snacks! As Canadians who take our tea seriously, we love having fresh milk available in our mini fridge, a nice touch you don't see in North America! Truly enjoyed our stay, would certainty come back and recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh!

The staff are so friendly from the first step inside the building and everyone thereafter. The food was delicious and the ambiance is spot on. The room was clean and beautiful. We were sad to only have 1 night there and cannot recommend it enough.

I loved everything about this hotel: the tea room, the Victorian style of the room, the salon full of old school books, the breakfast service. I 100% recommend it !

For a special occasion we had afternoon lunch and stayed the night. A lazy day. A few drinks and a movie. Fantastic. Staff were friendly. Food was great. Definitely return.
