A nice place to stay with a 24hr desk, elevator and friendly staff. The ‘only’ issue was an evening where the fire alarm went off a number of times and the staff assured patrons that it was a fault sensor - evidently, turned-off temporarily with manual walk around that evening? Some testing was done unannounced the next day (potentially serious but thank goodness no real-emergency). I’m sure the efficient & professional staff will work out the issue, sooner than later. Otherwise, a wonderful, interesting place to stay centrally located in a great walk-about neighborhood full of coffee shops, antique shops & nice dining!! Robert

A wonderful regal hotel steeped in history. Clean, warm and very helpful friendly staff. A very relaxing atmosphere in the evening whilst employing the use of the bar.

The Royal Scotsman is a beautiful hotel and a great location! Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, very private, warm and inviting. Only criticisms are; no refrigeration in the rooms made bringing back leftovers from the many surrounding restaurants difficult. Also the WiFi was pretty spotty. Certain areas were a lot better, but it made watching anything on the television near impossible. Other than that it was a great stay and would recommend. Close to all the hustle and bustle of Princes street while being far enough away to be very quiet.

Good location for transit and walkable to main attractions in old town. Prices were increased due to Fringe Festival. Mattress and pillows were too firm. Our room was in lower level/annex building which was stuffy and lacked air conditioning.

Loved this place. Big room, great staff, nice bar/lounge area. Easy walk to old town and the castle (1/2 to 3/4 of a mile). Neat place! Room could use a small frig for meds etc.

Not the best new town location, not the worst. Quiet, a few blocks from dinning. Old warn out mattress. No view. Dirty carpets. It worked for our stay but we advise to look for better accommodations.

Dirty bathroom and dirty walls beside the bed (cobwebs and ‘dirt’) left us very disappointed with the hotel. Looked like it had not been cleaned in months, judging by the cobwebs that had dust on them!! Surely cleanliness is a basic standard for any hotel, particularly at nearly £200 a night?

Lovely property and lovely staff. I true experience of Scotland. The room was very clean with only a cobweb to be honest. The room was so lovely, the tub was nice and hot, again the only truth being they didn’t remove the stickers from the side of the toilet. Absolutely highly recommended.

It’s definitely dated but the location was perfect. Room was small. Towel warmer in bathroom didn’t work and coffee pot hadn’t been cleaned-nor the Nespresso dispenser. Breakfast was good. We would book again, but I would try for different area of club.

If you get a ground floor room in the annex, the foot traffic outside makes it difficult to sleep. The space was also incredibly small and cramped. We could barely walk around to the other side of the bed. Would not stay here again.

Everything was good except the room was very warm. We turned the radiators off, but it stayed rather warm. The window would not stay open to cool it down. Thankfully there was a fan. If there had not been a fan we would not have been able to sleep. The bathroom stayed blazing. The hallways leading to the rooms were extremely warm as well. Other than that the room was wonderful, service was great.

Wonderful "I'll be at my club" vibes. Location is walkable to so much of New and Old Town with a wealth of cafés, restaurants, and interesting small, local stores within minutes. Room was very comfortable with good space for two.

Nice location; convenient. Away from the main drag but close enough to almost anywhere I wanted to go to. Across the street from gorgeous gardens. My room was in the basement, though it had much light and was spacious. Great shower. The place also has almost and Old World members club vibe to it. There is a comfortable sitting room for guests.

When originally booking, I selected a room with a king bed and ended up with a double bed. The room was much smaller than expected. Especially after reviewing photos of the rooms. Otherwise all was lovely.

Just a short walk 15 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverly train station made this a great place to visit. I enjoyed the excellent dinner and breakfast at their restaurant. The staff was great and helped me out with lunch suggestions and took care of receiving my luggage which was a couple of days late. I was on a bit more of a budget trip so stayed on the ground floor which was down from reception. This was a little bit out of the way but was really quiet. Very spacious room and comfortable.

The staff couldn’t of done more so friendly. The bed was so comfy and room had everything in it made our stay much more. We stayed in 34A and being in a different building didn’t cause any fuss still used the main building as normal. The lounge/bar was a quite and relaxing for a drink. breakfast selection had everything you need and more. We stayed as part of a larger group and all our rooms where carefully thought about and our other firends chose to stay in the main building due to having a lift.

The property is fine. The front desk staff is not helpful unless providing keys for your room. They actually refused to help two elderly women who needed directions to a nearby restaurant, stating, that they were "not a typical front desk and did not offer concierge assistance". The room was located in the basement and really difficult to access with multiple bags.

As part of a members only club, the RSC keeps its facilities in tip-top shape. The amenities were very generous, including slippers and super soft robes. The housekeeper was vey kind to give us a fan as the room got warm with a south facing window. The breakfasts were very elegant, served on china. Highly recommend.

We had a very pleasant 7 day stay at the Royal Scots Club Our room was in the annex which involved going down some quite steep steps but staff were very helpful with our cases. The room itself was warm, comfortable with plenty of storage and two armchairs. Tea and coffee facilities were topped up daily. The general lounge was a great place to relax after a busy day in Edinburgh. It’s also really close to a bus stop with regular buses to the city centre The only criticism is the fact that the breakfast was always served too soon to the table and consequently was cold by the time we had finished our cereal

Beautifully appointed room (11), old world elegant and charming. Very comfortable bed and luxury feel linen. Bath was very large, tons of hot water. Breakfast was a lovely range of options, i had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, OH had Full Scottish, both delicious. We will be back everytime we come to Edinburgh.
