Le Monde Hotel

We were upgraded to the New York suite which was fab and much appreciated. The room was spacious, nice decor, excellent location. However, the biggest issue we had was that the basement nightclub music went on until 3am meaning we barely slept. Was not a peaceful night. We also booked a table at the bar as aware it can get really busy; the cocktails were lovely; however the service was very slow, and the drinks price list didn't reflect the actual prices. Cocktails have increased by 50p each it seems

Rooms were very nice and staff were friendly breakfast was very good. Noisy at night due to the night club below which goes on until about 3am then more noise from the street as people were leaving the club.

Our room was outstanding (The Berlin), and the overall property is nice, except its a nightclub in the evening, which is not our "jam" but the noise wasnt too bad when we were in our room. Only place we stayed in Scotland that had a full mini bar. Easily walkable to New and Old Town Edinburgh

Everything was excellent except for the fact that they have a nightclub in the basement and the noise can be plainly heard in the rooms.

A lovely hotel. We had dinner there but the nightclub is the dinning room. Not a good place to be if you want a nice quiet place to have dinner. The crowd is young and music is blasting.

Okay we stayed at this hotel Good points Room are really nice size bathroom great Location good Cocktails good and reasonable Bad points Customer service is the worse didnt even ask how my stay was ... No one there on reception First night i came down stairs where i was approached by someone from night club who said " do you fancy doing a line" wouldnt leave me alone drunk and of his face... They do not section hotel from the night club/bar which they could of easily done Food terrible Never been to a hotel which cost £300 a night and couldnt even get a seat at a bar usually they have a guest section no attempt at all.. People from pub sitting in hotel lobby (really small) with a chair and table infront of lift) Room needs revamping cario room and floor loose thick dust on the woodern wall .. I would say potential to be 4 star plus however clearly a drug problem and staff needs training

Lovely boutique hotel, and bar with great craft cocktails. Fun, and interesting part of Edinburgh.

The hotel's location and value for price was fine, however, there is a pub in the building and the night we were staying there was extremely loud until at least 2AM due to a "party" that evening. Our advice would be to determine if there are any late night "events" at the pub for the evenings you're planning on staying there.

Room was lovely and clean & in a very convenient part of Edinburgh- close to the station, restaurants and shopping as well as bus stops. We stayed in a very comfortable junior suite. My only complaint is that the room was a bit hot at night and we couldn’t open the window. Staff was very friendly. I would recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

This hotel was in a great location near shopping and restaurants but still a quiet neighborhood. Walkable to the Royal Mile. Our room was very quaint. A little worn but overall nice.

The flooring was loose in a small part of the room. The pillows were a little uncomfortable but in general our stay was fine

The room and the bathroom were a good size. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The location was great. We would definitely stay there again.

Last stayed about 8 years ago and I think it’s in need of a bit of TLC. Room was lovely but one or two little things would have made it better. Can be quite noisy at weekends if you wanted an early night. Overall a lovely stay but I think it’s need a little maintenance and TLC.

Your experience will largely depend on your room's proximity to their nightclub. My wife and I had a very quiet room (named Cairo), while our friends were unable to sleep in their room due to nightclub noise until 3am (their room was named Barcelona). We find duvets too hot to sleep under, so we always remove them from their cover and simply use the cover as our top sheet. When uncovered, we saw that the duvet in our room was stained. Since we set it aside, it wasn't an issue, but a bit disconcerting. Very conveniently located near the train station and all major sights.

Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Room was great. Unfortunately there was no hot water on the first morning but receptionist most apologetic. No one's fault in the hotel but the noise from outside throughout the first night was horrendous - no sound proofing at all in New York Junior Suite - better on the second night. Apparently a student night on the Wednesday so would avoid that day if I was coming again.

Each of the rooms had a theme based on a different city which was very quaint. Only issue was some wear to the labels on the lights- meant it took me forever to try to figure out how to turn off the lights because all the labels had been rubbed off. Staff was wonderful though!

The light switches were very difficult to figure out how to use. We had to ask for help from the front desk and even then it was difficult. I also wish that even though we didn’t have the most expensive room, we didn’t have to look over a rooftop directly into other buildings.

Nice place and good location, but close to tourist area so expect to hear people partying until early in the morning if you stay th-sat.

Great big room - LA suite. Well appointed. Modern design. Comfy beds. Only one night, didn’t use bar or restaurant.

A lovely hotel, really good check in and staff. It was only let down by the ridiculous lighting system in the room. No light switch, but a display and a series of small buttons which create different scenes. Sadly, the bedside lights did not turn off completely, despite multiple attempts. In the end, I removed the bulbs! I don't expect to have to do this!

We were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist, who told us our room was ready, getting in early was a great start. We stayed 2 nights in the Havana room, which overlooks George Street, it’s a spacious shabby chic style room with a good shower, and lovely Gordon street coffee. The hotel is very convenient for travel by train, approximately a 7 minute walk.

Staff were excellent and character rooms gave a uniqueness to the hotel. Location superb. The One thing that let it down was the WiFi in rooms. My stay was a mixture of business and pleasure. The WiFi kept dropping and there were several online meetings where I had to keep reconnecting.

A great central location, but try to avoid the room we started in (201)! The hotel cannot do anything about the rooms now of course, but had we not moved rooms, I would have had to give this review 2 stars out of 5. That's because the main purpose of a hotel is to provide a good night's sleep, and staying in 201 does not give that. Firstly, it's right by the road, so you will hear traffic and people - OK, not too bad, and ear plugs can solve that, but it's also above the nightclub, so you will hear the music and then at 03:00 on Friday night/Saturday night at least, you will hear all the revellers leaving, shouting, laughing and you might just smell the cigarette smoke too. We had that from 03:00 until 04:45 early Saturday morning. Nobody seemed to be interested in moving the people on, away from the hotel. We found the bed small for 2, although that's probably just us, it was as advertised, a standard double bed. The window mechanism was broken too so the windows wouldn't open, hence the 4/5 for 'property condition'. I tried 3 times to move rooms throughout the week and luckily on the 3rd attempt, Drew (great) managed to move us to a quieter room which made all the difference in the world. The bar was excellent, we didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment but it looked cool. So overall, room 201 would have given the review 2/5 but as Drew managed to move us, that has to be a 5/5.

Would have given 5 stars but had a really poor experience in dealing with a billing issue for breakfast. Asked to speak to the manager and told the manager was not available. Overall lovely accommodation and the lady who checked us in was fantastic. However the member of staff who dealt with us this morning really gave us the impression she was disinterested and we were bothering her 😢

Due to severe weather almost everything in Edinburgh was closed for the day and I had to spend the whole day and an extra night in the hotel. Even though there were very few staff due to the storm those who in made sure we had food and went out of their way to be accomodating and make residents feel secure.

Very warm and welcoming, the hotel is in a great position for all of the bars and restaurants whilst still being quiet enough to rest. We were greeted by Tatiana, on both arrival and departure, who was outstanding, very friendly and helpful. A real credit to the hotel so please pass on our sincere thanks.

This was a business trip having stayed numerous times before. Unfortunately on this occasion my TV was faulty yet despite calling reception 6 times no one answered. A concern as they state there is someone on call 24 hours. As I was undressed I just accepted the tv was not working and it continued to go off intermittently. My biggest problem started at 10.50 pm when the couple next door came in, I heard her singling loudly as she entered. That’s when things got worse as she the started screaming and shouting at her partner. This went on till 1.20am when I could take no more and called reception and they did answer. I explained what was happening, the guy on the phone could hear as they were so loud. He offered to change my room but I really didn’t want to in the middle of the night and I felt very vulnerable being on my own. It’s not a nice feeling lying in bed listening to that ! I asked if they could be spoken to and heard 2 knocks at their door. They didn’t answer and luckily went quiet but my this point I was wide awake. I know they had paid for a room and it’s a difficult situation for a hotel but I was not happy. The next day I expected an apology or something but the girl didn’t ask about my stay or mention anything so I asked to speak to the manager. He did come and apologised but I was not offered anything further. I don’t think would stay again after this.

The staff, especially Charlotte went out of their way to be accommodating by answering multiple questions, providing recommendations for dining, and helping with anything we needed. I highly recommend this lovely hotel!

This hotel was perfectly located, safe, impeccable. The staff was amazing! Saved me when my dress for the event was damaged and couldn't be ironed; they arranged for a specialist to take care of it. Putting my gown into a taxi and arranging everything, my dress was redelivered to the hotel in beautiful condition! Thank you everyone again at Le Monde for an incredible stay.

Great hotel in a perfect location

We stayed for 2 nights in Milan--the room was spacious, clean and we loved the standalone tub for a relaxing bath at the end of the day. The bed was very comfortable. The location was amazing; right smack in the middle and walkable to everything. We wouldn\'t have been able to do so much in Edinburgh for a 2 night stay had it not been for the amazing location. There is an incredible amount of dining options near the hotel that is not "touristy". Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful stay. Loved our room and the staff. We walked or caught bus to go all over the city. The location was fabulous.

The hotel is centrally located, a ten minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley (the main train station). I stayed in a junior suite and found the room well-presented and comfortable. There is some noise from the hotel and streets around it, but it wasn't ridiculous. Breakfast is very good, and excellent value. Service was first class and the staff were universally great. It's a boutique hotel, with only eighteen rooms, and it is a good place for a trip, though do keep in mind there was some noise on the second floor (where the junior suites are).

Love staying at Le Monde, it’s a great hotel in a good location. This time we had Barcelona room, it was a spacious corner room to the rear of the hotel. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Food and drinks were great too.

Perfect location for everything!! The breakfast was nothing to write home about but there is an Italian restaurant on the corner that is absolutely amazing.
