The staff were friendly. Location was great. Quiet neighborhood but near the Jubilee line. Unfortunately we specifically booked it because of the lift but we were unaware that the lift was broken for an extended period of time and the sign on the lift looked like it had been there a while. We were there 6 days and not once did we see anyone even attempt to fix the lift. The stairs are tilted and wonky which make it even more difficult for those with mobility issues. Add in that on Sunday morning we were awoken by the fire alarm at 7 am. We texted reception via WhatsApp (the way you’re told to contact reception as there aren’t phones in room) before trying to get downstairs and no response so we went downstairs to find the receptionist on a smoke break. We asked about the fire alarm and were told there’s no fire and they don’t know why it’s blaring. Went back to our room. It continued for about 30 minutes. About 7 hours later we received a reply to our text about it. lol. The rooms are dated but clean and functional. The windows didn’t seem to lock closed but we were on the 3rd floor so we weren’t too concerned. The TV didn’t have any local channels but only the ability to stream so if you don’t have streaming subscriptions you’re out of luck.

Plus points: friendly staff, good location, big room. But: really needs redecorating - chipped and heavily marked woodwork, damp stain on the wallpaper, net curtain dirty and torn. Floorboards creaky, to the point we were woken up by guests walking around on the floor above us. It could be a lovely hotel but as it is, we wouldn't stay there again.

This is a lovely hotel with a cozy and homy feeling. The building is quite dated but for me that added to the charm. The only problem is you get some noise from other rooms due to the old age of the building. The location is absolutely amazing. You are in one of the best neighbourhoods and steps from bus, subway, and many shops and restaurants. Overall, I will definitely stay here but will remember to pack earplugs.

Absolutely lovely stay. Our room was spotless and so cute. However it’s the staff that make this place so nice. They’re lovely, really friendly, so helpful. They made our stay great. I will definitely stay again.
