Copthorne Tara provides very affordable accommodation in a really nice part of London easily accessible from Kensington High Street Tube which is only the 3rd stop from Paddington. The hotel is large and comfortable, I would describe the decor as a little dated but perfectly ok. The staff are very helpful and there are plenty of them in the busy reception area. The elevators are a bit of a nightmare on two occasions that we’ve stayed there a couple have been out of order and they seem to have a mind of their own, stairs are an option but not if you’re on the eleventh floor and you have luggage. Also a little disappointed with the bar closing at midnight, whilst there is a self-service bar in reception, the hard chairs and relative darkness of this area did not make it welcoming. We only wanted a quiet drink after returning from a show, and this (in my opinion) was not a good option, for a hotel if this size and location the bar should be open until at least 0100. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and veggie options on request. I would definitely stay here again, in fact I’m booked in again in March. On the whole a nice, comfortable hotel in a nice accessible part of London.

Very convenient location. No gym or pool though. Approach to the entrance is spoiled due to poor external planning. Walking across 100 metres of roadway tarmac seems daunting and uninspiring.

It was a decent place in the centre of the City with access to all attractions and easy to commute. I used parking service as well which was really convenient. I would recommend tgis place for a reasonable price and nice location.

The hotel was very well located. The room was clean and a reasonable size. We had asked for a walk-in shower as we are both in our 80s - we were given a rather tired bathroom with shower facilities. That was disappointing. The main complaint was that there was no literature or information in the room about what the hotel itself had to offer, or about the surrounding area or - more important - how the telephone could be operated to get an outside line or to contact reception. For security / emergencies this is surely an important consideration for older guests. The lighting in the room was inconvenient - with two lights over the dressing table/desk to one side of the bed and NO light over the other side. NOT a good arrangement if one person wants to read and the other (on the desk side) wants to sleep! Finally, PARKING. There is parking at the hotel. On the Monday before our stay I phoned the hotel to ask whether there was sufficient parking - and was told that it was available on a "first come first served" basis. We were quoted a charge of £45 per 24 hours. Not being willing to chance not being able to park, we decided to check out a parking APP. To our annoyance we discovered that we could book a place AT THE HOTEL (!!!) - and that the charge for 28 hours was only £32. Guests at the hotel should have priority - NOT a car space booking App!!

Clean room, good size in club room and nice view of London. Comfy beds. Friendly staff at front desk Bathroom was ok. Old and not clean bathmat to put in tub for showering, and smelly shower curtain. Club breakfast was under average. Not much variety and severale dishes was empty. Not very kid-friendly. During our 4 day stay at least one elevator was out of service every day. Used a lot of time to wait for elevators. Waited 25 minutes for 4 drinks in an almost empty bar during happy hour. Didn't try the bar again. Will not return to this hotel.

The hotel is very dated. Telephone and TV didn’t work, no waterbottles and no handsoap in the bathroom (handcreme instead of soap)! Went to the reception and the Tv and telephone was fixed quickly. Asked again for water and soap and reception said it was already delivered.. I explained that I had been in the room for the past 2 hours and no one had come. Eventually the housekeeping came with 1 bottle of water, although we were 2 persons in the room. He also said that there was no soap. Apparently the didn’t have any in stock!! We had breakfast in the Club lounge, very basic and the man in charge didn’t understand much English. We were given vouchers for happy hour in the bar. The wine they served for happy hour was a very cheap wine, not even worth the reduced price. We checked out at 12 and needed to store our suitcases since our flight was later that evening. To my surprise they charged £2,50 per bag. The last morning they were drilling close to our room, very disturbing with the noise. I had upgraded our room but felt that it was not worth it at all! The management needs to take a critical look at the way the place is run! I have stayed there a couple of times before, due to the location. This time it was more like Fawlty Tower. Will not stay there again!

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 15 years and whilst I enjoyed my 2 nights I do feel the standard of bathroom cleanliness wasn't up to the previous standards. The bathroom in my room also felt somewhat tired and dated and in need of a refresh. The reception, cafe and bar staff were all excellent.

I have made a complaint about the cleanliness of our room but have heard nothing back so have resorted to responding to this request for a review instead. The room hadn’t been dusted or cleaned for a while. Just beds made. Pretty grim. Such a shame because the hotel was nice otherwise and in a great location.

Someone’s used flannel left in shower area suggesting it had not been cleaned properly. Light switches between beds almost impossible to operate. Lack of heated towel rail means towels used at night remain damp for following morning. No ventilation in bathroom so mirror very steamed up.

The service in the restaurant was extremely slow. The corridors on the 9th floor looked like they’d not been vacuumed for a week. The food sat the breakfast buffet was being taken at huge portion levels by many of the residents leaving nothing for others. It just felt like the whole place has rapidly gone down hill. I’ve been using the hotel since 1987 and it’s a shadow of its former self!

The hotel was in an excellent location for our trip which involved the Royal Albert Hall. It is also close to Kensington High Street shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is comfortable and clean but the decor is so dated. It looks like something from the 80's or 90's. Also the toilet seats are too small for the toilet basins which looks rather ugly. I noticed this in our own room and in the shared toilets. Shower over a bath. Light switches in the room are also poor. This hotel needs a full refurbishment.

My room was upgraded to club room but what I was actually upgraded to was a noisy damp room. All I could hear was the trains and the lifts and people coming out of the lifts. When I finally fell asleep the fire alarm went off, with no advice as to what to do…people stood in corridors, I woke my son up only for alarm to stop. Then I was kept awake by the trains….my son woke up to the trains first thing in the morning!! So no not a comfortable stay

Lady at reception on our arrival was very friendly and gave us a voucher for a complimentary breakfast. There was a fantastic choice for breakfast however the 'hot' food was not hot..it was barely warm at best. Towels were changed every day even though we had a sign on the door stating 'privacy' as we do not require them to be changed everyday. Reception and restaurant are modern but rooms are tired and dated...stayed here last year and had a comfortable bed, however, this year mattress and pillows were uncomfortable. Hotel is in a great location for subway station

Overall, it was a pleasant enough stay. The room is very tired with old curtains and tired interior. However it is clean with the basic amenities. The advantage is the convenient location and fair price and the room size is quite generous. The sound proof is not very good as people’s conversation can be heard from our room, but not sure it’s from the room next door or upstairs?

Reception was poor, only two folks on the reception and queues waiting to be dealt with.. One lady came out form a room behind reception, i was on of perhaps 5 people wanting to check in and she walked off, not good. Then one of two who were there helped some chap who just walked up to reception, jumping the queue. Was not a goo introduction to how the hotel greets its guest.

Most staff were unfriendly especially on reception. Rooms were dated with paint peeling off the ceiling. New policy to charge for leaving luggage on checkout. £2.50 per bag whatever the size - appalling. Never greeted with a hello , check in slow and on check out nothing asked about stay.

I had to wait 30 minutes before I could check-in, they need more staff at reception, this is a very large hotel and very busy. Bathroom suite was outdated for a 4 star hotel. Trains run on the back of the hotel so there is noise from trains passing regularly.

Our stay was disappointing due to several issues. Upon arrival, we had requested a baby cot, but there was an adult bed in the room instead—even though the reception had confirmed the cot beforehand. It took nearly two hours and 3–4 visits to the reception before we finally received the cot, but it came without a mattress, making it completely unusable. We then asked to have the adult bed back so one of us could sleep there, which again took another two hours and several more trips to reception, despite repeated promises that it would be fixed “within 10–15 minutes.” The room itself also had problems: the window could not be opened, making the air stuffy and humid—especially after using the shower, since the ventilation was poor. The air conditioning didn’t work properly either, so it got quite warm and uncomfortable. Lastly, we found an old, dirty slipper under the bed, though apart from that, the room appeared reasonably clean and tidy.

Fantastic welcome from Sifou and Zakariya on reception; I arrived early and whilst a room wasn’t ready for me, I got pre-checked in and had my luggage stored. When I came to check in later, Sifou and Zakariya were still on, checked me in and even upgraded my room! Thank you to both of them for such a warm welcome!

This hotel was in a perfect location, 5 minutes from Kensington High Street tube station. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly, polite and very helpful. Check in was 3pm but there was a free luggage store, which was handy and check out was 12noon. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is in a prime location for seeing the sights. Keninsgton Palace and gardens a short walk away, and the High Street Kensington tube station a 5 minute walk up to the High Street. This connects to the Circle and District lines which will take you easily to most attractions. As noted by other reviewers the hotel rooms are showing a little wear and tear…a little tired…definitely in need of a refresher in the not too distant future. The staff were very helpful and polite. There is a C&C mini cafe where I had a continental breakfast each day before heading out. Fresh and reasonable price-wise. Great Happy Hour from 2-6 in the on site bar, The Stag.

Good cooked breakfast buffet style, nice pastries & fruit. Our room was a club room on the 12th floor 1213 twin, spacious lovely and warm view of the city, the beds so comfortable. The staff were all amazing so friendly and very helpful, a great team. We loved the novelty pumpkins in the lobby! thank you for a lovely stay!

Where do I even begin? Let’s start with the handful of positives. It’s ideally located next to High Kensington Underground station. The exterior of the building appears impressive in a quiet area of London, and the lobby area is quite grand in its appearance. Now to the negative - the rooms are tired and uncared for. My hand wash and shower gel were empty on arrival, with some kind of dusty residue in the bath. The mini fridge kept humming loudly with no means of turning it off. No USB ports with the exception of this extender that illuminates the whole room with its blue on-light. Hot drink station only had one sachet of coffee and the mugs were dirty. Breakfast was poor service all round. The room simply can’t accommodate the number of guests, so I was directed to sit at the bar next to a box of unattended stationary. The coffee machines were out of action and no new tray of glasses for the juice, meaning I had to resort to using a coffee cup. No sneeze guard for the two huge bowls of yoghurt that was a haven for germs. Very weak selection, especially the muffins which were tiny and tasteless. The biggest upset for me was how unbothered the hotel reception staff appeared to be. When I checked out I was met with a strange element of disdain, as if the lady would rather be doing anything else than take my key card. Finally the biggest joke was the concierge service which was criminally understaffed. I was late getting to my meeting with dropping off the bags. Avoid!

OK business hotel in a good location. Quite possibly the worst hotel restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. I didn’t fancy a trip out because I was tired so I went to Bugis. Bugis is an on-site ‘Singapore style’ restaurant with just a few items on the menu. Most of the beers on the menu were unavailable, but that’s ok. What was not ok was the food. I assume prepared off-site and slopped up as required. I had a lump of stodgy they called Nasi Gorang, with a fried egg that looked like it had been cooked the day before. Just dreadful.
