Stanley House Hotel

It's a small thing, but having USB A ports on the outlets made it so easy to come back at the end of the day and get devices charged and ready for the next day. Some construction is going on, but the room was clean and quiet.

The room was clean and recently refurbished, with all new fixtures. The staff was friendly and there was always someone at the desk. The breakfast was a limited menu with table service, which was good. That said, to calibrate expectations, it's an old building and there's no lift. There seemed to be some ongoing renovation, which didn't impact us but it suggest the facilities will continue to improve. The bathroom was clean and new, but there were no shelves and just a tiny sink. There is no air conditioning, but the window could be opened and there was a desk fan in the room. In summary, a good value for the money in London.

Although the hotel is currently being refurbished, the room i had was bright, clean & modernised. The very modest price for my single room included a breakfast. The hotel is handy for Victoria coach and train stations. So I'm very pleased and will certainly use the place again.

This was a nice little hotel my first UK hotel I was able to get a room on the bottom floor with only one set of stairs, which was nice. Hotel is pretty clean, but you can tell that it’s extremely dated their living room. Space with the couches could definitely be cleaned up. Wasn’t quite comfortable leaving my room key with them every time I had to leave. There’s no coffee or tea in the room, but they do have a free machine in the hallway that was only 10% stocked of the options. The area that it’s in is really close to Victoria Station, which was nice and easily walkable to the nearby attractions. The lock on my window for my room didn’t work. I’m being accessible on the bottom floor. I was a little weary. I put my shoes on the windowsill To help close the curtains and alert me if someone opened the window

Make sure you know there's no elevator. Our first room was in the basement. There was no hot water in the water immediately filled up the shower and pooled on the floor. There was only one available outlet we could use to plug anything in. There was no phone in the room. I called the hotel to let them know about the water and they switched us to a room on the third floor which meant six flights of stairs with our luggage. Still no hot water and only soap and a combo shampoo conditioner so don't expect much. Pillows and bed were clean but not very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty with me to order eggs and the staff was very kind. The actual inside of the building is very old and the carpeting hasn't been replaced in a while, and caused me to have some breathing problems as I'm allergic to dust. It's a great location though. So for a short stay where you don't need to take a warm shower, it'll do the trick.

It was perfectly fine. A ten minute walk from Victoria station. Nothing really around the area. Little store across the street ripped me off and didn’t give me my change. Breakfast was…..certainly something. Nice bathroom/toilet. Was in the downstairs so street was above us and the windows didnt open much. Thankfully there was a fan bc there was no AC.

Thwy gave us a really bad room. Duct tape in the floor, then i complained and they gave us a better room. Second one renovated. Great location. Breakfast not that good. Near london victoria station.

It was terrible. The room we stayed in had paint peeling of the walls, the carpet was comming of the ground. They had construction materials everywhere on the inside in the way, There was an horrible stench in the room and rest of hotel. We had paid for the breakfast but were too scared to eat it.

This is a horror hotel! DO NOT STAY HERE. We stayed for 1 night and had to leave, they had bed bugs, holes in the floors, dirty linens, hair everywhere, peeling wallpaper. The tv didn\'t work, the drains were backing up, the bed wasn\'t even sleepable. They did not refund us, neither did expedia even after their "review" which was just trying to call the property - of course they aren\'t going to answer the phone or approve a refund. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. This hotel should not even be allowed to be listed, it is a health hazard and a danger. EXPEDIA DO BETTER!

We needed a budget option for this trip and called in advance to be sure a prior bedbug infestation had been dealt with from the month before. We were assured it was but the second night of the stay, we had bedbugs on our pillow & sheets as we tried to sleep - took pics/videos, showed hotel, couldn’t leave as it was past midnight. Got relocated to a crappier room than what we had and worried all night about bugs - left in the morning and never returned. The owner - oblivious to the cost and inconvenience caused - only refunded the last night. I NEVER will stay here again and advise all to AVOID staying here at all cost - it’s rundown, dirty, bug infested and has the worst hospitality of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

My boyfriend and I are having a skin reaction caused by an insect called bedbugs. We only slept two nights at the hotel, and now we have several marks on our skin and irritation.

Bed bugs in the room. Asked for an incident report. Told we would get one. When we went to collect this, the staff member lied and said that we had previously refused it. One star is too many!

Very poor standard in the room. Mold on the roof of the toilet. The shower head was covered with mold and other things. It was not possible to change the heat on the radiator, which did not give off any heat at all. A window could not be closed, sat too high up to reach properly. Chaos in the breakfast room. Nice staff who do their best. Absolutely ok breakfast. Construction work all afternoon.

WORST NIGHTMARE OF MY LIFE – INFESTED WITH BEDBUGS!!!!! If you value your health, your sanity, and your skin, STAY AWAY from this hellhole of a hotel. I’ve had bad experiences before, NOTHING prepared me for this. Dirty, disgusting, outdated, wires and electrical outlet hanging out of the wall. The bed seemed fine at first, until in the middle of the night I felt tiny, crawling sensations all over me. BEDBUGS. I jumped out of bed in a panic, only to see the horrifying scene: they were everywhere, emerging from the mattress and the pillows. My arms, legs, and back were covered in welts, itching and burning. Don’t even THINK about bringing your luggage in here. The bugs latched onto my clothes and personal items, so now I have to burn half of what I own! I couldn’t sleep a single second that night, terrified of the next swarm of bites. And when I went to complain to the front desk, the staff acted like it was no big deal! NO BIG DEAL?! Like they were used to this infestation and couldn’t be bothered to fix it. They also claimed they’ve never had bed bug issues before. LIES!! READ OTHER REVIEWS!! THIS IS A PROBLEM! They refused me another room, “no vacancy” – as if that would make any difference in this **bedbug breeding ground** anyway. I ran out of there, didn’t even bother to stay for the rest of my reservation. Manager refused a refund and so did Expedia. I have already hired a lawyer and filed a dispute with my bank. STAY FAR FAR AWAY

For the price, we didn’t expect much, just a place to sleep cause we would be out most of the day. The location is great. Two nights stay. Busy and tired so didn’t noticed the first night. Our room was infested with bed bugs that kept on coming out when will kill them. Sadly they were full of our blood. We have pictures and captured show to show to the staff. I hope they take care of ti and do not sweep it under the rug.

Lovely clean room, would deffo stay again

Just grim - hotel looks like it has been left to rot for 40 years. Peeling wallpaper, ratty old carpets and falling apart furniture… booked for work for one night, any longer and I’d have left and looked for somewhere else. Didn’t risk breakfast based on the general state of the hotel. Bedding smelled clean.. one small saving grace!

Easy walk to Victoria Station. Rooms were appointed with outdated furnishings not in good condition. Liked the double, 2 twin room option.

The bathroom was very narrow/small and not at the same level as room floor.

The room is big but old, the bathroom is the smallest and worst that i have ever seen. Will not stay again or recommend. The breakfast is nice though

The room was well appointed but the mattress uncomfortable. There was a strong smell of cleaning product which was only dispelled by leaving the window open - hotels must realise that strong scents are a problem for people with sensitivites. The corridors and stairs were very tatty and unpleasant. I didn't sample breakfast as I had to leave - a 7:30 start is too late for London. Proximity to Victoria Station was useful.

Staff were outstanding, going above and beyond available 24/7 . Nice, simple breakfast. Comfy beds. Extra pillows.

I am very impressed and satisfied with all of the hard work to make our stay feel so great! The hotel is being reformed And We can tell they’re doing everything they can to make us feel comfortable. We wanted somewhere close to wicked so we didn’t have to travel on the tube with a 8 year old at 11pm and this was perfect. 5 minutes walk from theatre (which is also Victoria station) 10-15 min walk to Buckingham palace. We only came for one night, wanted to do sight seeing then the show. This was literally somewhere to sleep and it was perfect. You get what you pay for, it’s not the ritz. Yes it could do with a lick of paint but if you want easy access and somewhere to rest your head for a night or two, then this is perfect.

It's a old building where we can see some holes in the walls, some paint on the floor... But the room was large with a nice bathroom. The beds comfortable and clean. I went with my kids and there were space enough for 3 of us. Everyday change the towels. Breakfast it's nice. In general I liked. And it's near of everything. Vitoria station, the center... It's good to do everything walking.

The location is very convenient Walking distance -10 minutes to Victoria coach station , Victoria train and underground station. To Buckingham Palace is 20 minutes. The breakfast is simple but good. Staff are nice.

Felt more like a cheap hostel Poor state of repair ,cramped rooms and breakfast was awful ,end up with 2 eggs and beans that it and toast . This hotel would not survive elsewhere as it's cheap and photos don't match the website your are conned into booking , avoid

Clean room with a comfortable bed, which is all we were looking for on this trip. Staff were polite and stored medicines which needed to be refrigerated for me, though I could only access them during the two hours per day that the kitchen is open for breakfast. Staff responded well to message/questions before arrival. Breakfast was limited, just sausage, bacon and egg or cereal. Was advertised as having a TV and Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room; the TV wasn't connected to anything, so couldn't be watched, and the Tea and Coffee facilities were a vending machine in the lobby, without milk and sugar to make the drinks to taste, and the machine seemed to be out of most drinks during our stay. There was a kettle and tea/coffee/milk/sugar at breakfast though. All in all, fit for our needs, as we were in London for an event for two days and we were not wanting to spend much time in the hotel. I'd recommend if you just want a bed for a few nights whilst you go out and do other things, but not if you want a longer stay with some creature comforts and a good breakfast.

Very good location, handy to Victoria station. Room clean but in average condition. Wasn't any breakfast options could have due to dietary requirements and not offered alternatives. Bed comfortable and had a good night sleep. Couldn't work television.

This hotel was what we expected (pretty dated) and on arrival found that most of our sockets didn't work. We reported this and was soon sorted out for us whilst we were out, so was no issue. Free breakfast was included. Toast, egg, sausage and beans. Which was easily adequate to start our day! There was some miscommunication on breakfast times. Reception told us 7.30-9.30 but a notice on the wall stated only until 9am. Sadly, a couple of guests were turned away at 9.10am. (Luckily we saw the notice) Overall, definitely a good value, for a budget hotel! Thank you!

Room was OK but; No extractor fan in the toilet/shower room Breakfast was very limited in options. One cereal, Wheatabix. Bacon, egg and veggie sausage. Soft, undercooked white toast, plus jam Good coffee and ok tea. Breakfast room was not very clean. No glasses or tea/coffee facilities in bedroom which mean walking down 3.5 flights of stairs then back up again!! Staff were friendly and polite.
