The room clean with a comfortable bed and a table and chairs. Everything was in working condition. It's a little out of town but there are some eateries a short drive away. We would stay here again if in Mackay and we do recommend the motel to other travellers.

We liked the Italian Restaurant attached with friendly young staff and good food & service. Berny the receptionist was friendly. Unfortunately, the room was not clean, dirty towel on floor behind the front door, used toothpick & sticky residue on bedside table, hair/muck on bathroom floor behind toilet & bathroom sink, floor in room not clean. Air conditioning control knob broken, One mug & one chair in a King room, no hanging space/wardrobe. Sorry, it was disappointing.

The room was very unclean, thick dust covering any area not routinely used ie. windowsill, baseboards and corners of floors, above mirror and TV etc. Low budget building in need of upgrade. Did not know it was very close to an airport, loud jets going by consistently. No remote for the TV so was unable to use TV.

Whilst the room was clean and tidy it fell down on comfort. There were only two pillows in the room and there was not a wardrobe or cupboard to hang clothes. The hot water was barely luke warm and too cool to have a shower. The rule book is very unfriendly and talks of ‘fines’ if you do certain things!! Whilst it was not terrible, with so many other options nearby I would not stay again.

You're on a main road with passing traffic and sitting on an aircraft flight approach pattern. Noise is always going to be a slight issue at that address. And... Your room curtains in No. 30 need attention but otherwise, all good.

The rooms were fresh and clean, with a modern appearance. I really appreciated the extra bathroom counter space. Bev in the office (sorry if I got it wrong) was exceptional in her welcoming and customer service. We loved this hotel and will stay here again. Personal experience downfalls: - internet was glitchy so I ended up hot spotting with my own data so my son could watch a movie. - Difficulty manoeuvring out of my parking space as a large work van parked opposite my room car park. - Ordered a take away pasta dish from onsite Italian restaurant $29, serving size less than a handful. Followed up with request to top up or refund. Refund provided.

Nice, quiet place to stay. Room serviced our needs for the night. Only small criticism was that there was only one remote for both air cons and both tvs so we had to keep going back and forth with them and the WiFi wouldn’t connect. And possibly could have done with spare blankets or thicker blankets on the beds.

I absolutely loved this motel. It was very clean, and the room was so welcoming, with the most comfortable king bed I have ever slept in. The decor was cream/beige with 2 modern chairs and a small table for sitting comfortably to watch the TV or read. Bernie the receptionist welcomed me with a beautiful welcoming smile and she was so friendly and helpful. Thank you Bernie we will definitely be staying here next time we are in Mackay

we booked the Marco polo for a quick overnight stay in mackay for a function. arrived late in the afternoon and check in was no problem. after returning to the room later that night there was no hot water at all in the shower , i called the after hours number 3 times and was on hold for a total of 25 minutes and never spoke to anyone it was after mifnight by this stage so we went to bed. in the morning the same thing no hot water so we just left. I even paid the extra for the Deluxe room and regrett even staying there at all. since staying i have read other reviews that say the cold showers are a common occurance. this dampened the entire stay particularly after attending an outdoor function on a very cold evening. will not stay again. the room was clean , amenities good and the lady at reception friendly but the no hot water issue left a bad taste!

Policy Over Integrity – Disappointed. I called ahead to inform the property that I would be arriving at midnight due to travel. After introducing myself, I my call was answered with a dismissive and rude response. The staff member confirmed my booking and instructed me to call a number upon arrival to receive my key. Upon reaching the motel, I realized I had mistakenly booked the wrong date, and the property was fully booked for the night. With no alternative, I had to sleep in my car. I immediately contacted Expedia to request a refund and was advised to reach out to the property directly. When I called, the same staff member blatantly lied and redirected me back to Expedia instead of addressing the issue. As someone who has managed the largest accommodation in Queensland, I understand policies regarding cancellations and refunds. However, my incorrect booking was still five days away, and rather than providing honest and transparent customer service, the property chose to keep my money and mislead me. This is not how guests should be treated. I hope the small amount of money retained from this situation is worth the damage done to your reputation. I would never recommend or return to this property.

The room itself was actually pretty good. Pity no foxtel or anything. No pool or spa as advertised which was a big let down. Had to leave early and requested a refund for the one night we couldn't stay as we had a family emergency and have to leave at 6am so we werent even there for 18 hours yet charged for the full 2 nights and absolutely no empthy. I only wanted a refund for the night we didnt stay , so half my money back. But nope they dont care and are happy to jist keep my money. In these tough times youd think they would have a little compassion and refund the 1 night but nope. They dont care. Just money himgry like everyone else and wont help you at all. Even though it lacks the pool and spa as advertised. Wont be going back ever again and will make sure others dont ever stay there. :( if it wasnt for that fact they would have got a great review as the room is pretty good. Sad ending to a great holiday.

Stayed here for 1 night and arrived around 19.30. Check was meant to be open till 20.00 but nobody was present. It waz very tricky to get through on the phone and a pain as we were very tired, all wax paid and we just wanted to get into the room. The room was lovely room, very spacious and clean, slept wonderful. Would stay again.

The Manager/Owner he was very easy going he had an awesome attitude which has reflected through his staff who were very funny and hard workers which our rooms were clean during our stay clean towels everyday and air con was perfect. Our stay at Marco Polo was awesome

I very much appreciated beung able to check in early after a very early flight from Sydney. Staff at reception were very accommodating and friendly. The room was very spacious and the king size bed was excellent and so comfortable. Highly recommend Marco Polo for any traveller.

Property has everything I needed for an overnight stop. Easy Check-in and Check Out with staff friendly. Have stayed previously at the motel on my travels between Brisbane and Townsville. Restaurant wasn’t open during my stay however they offered breakfast options.

I generally stay at this property. It has the best beds. New owners taking over, have closed the restaurant. After meetings all day i liked being able to order in room service with a bottle of red wine. Very disappointing.

The room was clean and had fairly recently been updated, parking was easy, location was great across the street from a lovely beach. The restaurant was not accessible, we were told it was reserved 6 months in advance so it was probably very good but disappointed that we could not eat there but there were other restaurants within walking distance.

I had been a guest at this property for 5-6 years. I checked in with an abrupt reception guy, clearly either not having a good day or didnt want to be there. Was diappointed that the restuarant was not only closed (i thought being a sunday) but is permanently closed including any breakfast option. Room servicing is not provided unless asked for. This motel has gone from a 3.5/4 star to a 2 star motel now. Wont be back anymore.
