Unfortunately there was a problem at the hotel, a water heater broke down and there was no hot water, so no shower. When opening the bathroom taps, a big mess of brown water splashed my clothing. The other thing is that the swimming pool water had gone cold, so it was not the best experience.

The pool/hot tub and fitness centre were excellent. An awesome experience. Rooms were clean but old. Bathroom door would not close and could hear noise from hallways early in the morning. But location is excellent and staff were very friendly.

Lived but a little tricky to find the actual hotel. Just a lot going on in that area. For reference- park in the underground lot, go up to hotel which is NOT on the ground floor, check in, and you’re all set. The walk from car park to check in and rooms is FAR so bring your stuff with you.

My husband and I were staying for just one night - quick Montreal visit, and the Hotel Bonaventure far exceeded our expectations. It was reasonably priced, the room was clean and comfortable, the rain shower was lovely, the gym was large and had tons of options for working out, and the pool, hot tub, and sauna were everything this water nut could have wanted. The only drawback was that I didn't get to the hotel early enough to swim under the stars and had to wait until the next morning, but truly it was a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend the hotel to any of my friends who are going to Montreal.

Only one elevator working. Inconvenient- long wait time for elevator. Parking: no in and out privledges - need to pay each time you leave, becomes expensive. Pool bar closes earlier than pool. Should have a coffee bar completary in the lobby.

The whole reason I booked this hotel was to enjoy the pool, but it ended up being so crowded that it was impossible to find a chair since checkin is at 4PM and many guests had left towels and blankets on chairs to reserve them, which didn’t feel very fair, and there weren’t quite enough staff around to help manage the area. That said, I really did enjoy my stay overall, and I think having staff keep an eye on the pool and manage that a little better would make the experience even better for future guests.

We’ve stayed here before (in summer as in winter) and we always really enjoy our stay. The sauna is in rough shape and the lockers in the vestiaire are temperamental. This brutalist building is starting to show its age but renovations are ongoing.

Room was clean, staff was professional and courteous. Hotel lobby was spacious, there are sitting areas inside and out looking on to a swimming pool on one side and a duck pond on the other. A tranquil oasis in the middle of downtown Montréal. Highly recommended.

Honestly, it was not worth what I paid $300 a night almost. I walked in and the toilet had like blood or poop stains on it and it took hours for them to get housekeeping or even respond to me. Finally, they were able to move me, but nobody came and helped me. I just had to get everything done myself. There was a guest parties happening. Everyone drinking in the hot tub and the pool, and being really rowdy and then woken up at 2 AM with people yelling in the hallways as well again doesn’t seem right if you’re paying so much money to have a good nights rest and sleep Breakfast is mediocre not much to ride home but the bagels didn’t feel fresh.

Did not enjoy my stay at this hotel. Strange entrance to the hotel.which is on the 10th floor & was given a room on the ground floor. Black walls all over, inside the room, black doors, dark corridors makes it very dreary looking. Not very inviting. Got suddenly woken up at 7:00 am by construction drilling noises, really not pleasant at all. Took some time before the hot water came out of faucet. The room was clean, bed comfortable. Wouldn't stay there again & would not recommend this hotel. Glad I was only there 1 night. Much preferred my stay at the Marriott Chateau Champlain.

When you first walk in you’re blown away by the hotels beauty, the front desk staff were beyond nice and helpful. Great location, convenient underground parking and the best surprise of all… the ducks!!! Our room had a large window to be able to view all the rooftop ducks and it was amazing. Clean room, comfortable bed will definitely stay again

Underwhelming service & careless attitude. Apoor 4 star hotel. I gave it 2 stars just for the nice heated pool in winter. Everything else is lackluster. Rooms service takes 5 minutes to answer as if I'm calling a bank call center Checkin staff seem like they're forced to do their job. I requested an extra bathrobe & slippers at checkin (because there are only 2 in the room, while we're 3 people booked) and was told I'll get it in 10-15 minutes. It took over an hour (no exaggeration) and multiple calls, and overall attitude was "meh". Nobody seemed to care & take an action to remedy such mishaps. Checkin staff added parking to the room & then suggested to pay upon entry/exit if I'm not keep the car parked for 2 days. They didn't take if off the room. They didn't bother to take off the $5 dollar slippers until I explained upon checking out that I had to wait over an hour to get it. No breakfast is included. Parking is a trap, as the website doesn't mention that the "$28/24 hours" parking means that every time you leave you'll have to get a new ticket & get charged again and again ($5 for under 30 min parking, or $11 for under 1 hour) Won't be staying here again.

Were given card keys to a room already occupied by other guests. Very uncomfortable feeling. Zero privacy for that occupied room! Three robes, face and hand towels instead of four in our assigned room. Shower door handle stained and dirty. Toilet seat dirty. Not what I expected from a ‘superior’ room for which I paid for.

The front desk female staff was friendly but on two separate occasions we had experiences with rude service staff in the restaurant. The first night it was the older male bartender the second night it was a male server. The bartender seemed to be bothered when we asked questions about what scotch he had. Only after I was going to choose another drink did he place a list of scotches down for me to choose from and then he walked away like we bothered him. The second night we entered the restaurant for a late dinner and the table we went to was not clean. We asked for it to be wiped clean and the male server looked at us like we were being ridiculous. He only spoke to us when he said are you ready to order. AVOID THE RESTAURANT - go elsewhere such as the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth less than 5 min away for drinks, food and polite service. When we went to pick up our luggage we had left with the doorman he was no where to be found and after 15 minutes I had to call back to the front desk to get him to show up so we could get our bags out in time to depart. While waiting for the doorman a Parisian couple came out upset because one of the men at the front desk was extremely rude to her. It seems to be a theme here that needs to be addressed as while the hotel is nice and the pool is nice next time I visit Montreal I will be trying a different hotel as I expect to be treated politely by all staff not just by the women I interacted with in the hotel.

This is an outstanding hotel due to its staff , rooms and heated outdoor pool. The metro station is right underneath the hotel. The hotel lobby is uniquely located on the tenth floor. This is our family’s first choice in Montreal

Centrally located and close to transit hubs including the Via rail station and Metro. Easy to walk to many cultural sites. Property shows its age, but was clean. The hotel is on the upper floors of the building and is on the Mansfield side of the block, so if you are approaching from the Via station the hotel access is on the right corner of the block after you cross Rue de la Gauchetier.

Convenient access from Gare Centrale (the downtown train station) make Place Bonaventure a great place to base for a non-car visit to Montreal. The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff very friendly.

Definitely lacking staff support- my room was dirty when I checked in and took hours to get someone there. They had a conference so there was partying in the hallway at 2 am. Breakfast is just dry eggs and bread- not worth 25$
