loved the property they said they had a problem with the aircon offered cool drinks and ice lollys however we found it was too cold throughout the hotel. food was a little pricy in the resteraunt on the first night. however the breakfast was great in the morning. i enjoyed the gym swim sauna and jacizzi

When we checked in, the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful - one of the best check in experiences we have had. They moved our rooms to make things more convenient - and they didn't need to - which was very help. Hotel itself was decent, the pool was nice for the kids and the general layout was good. would stay there again for a 1/2 night - staff were excellent

It was OK, couldn't get hot water in the shower, fire alarm went off at 1am, sauna and changing rooms a bit run down, but otherwise OK and in line with expectations.

Great service from check in. Our room was a long walk from reception so if you are not able bodied - ask for a room near to reception. Our room was right by laundry bins so curtains were kept shut There’s no lifts, steps & a disabled lift chair but corridors are long. Our room was fine, bedding clean & it looked newly painted. But it’s December & there’s only a small oil filled radiator to keep the room warm. So I can’t say it was cosy warm but in bed it was warm enough. I would stay here again as it’s convenient to where we travel, a bargain price & I have to say was very clean with a fab breakfast! Had so much choice & all nicely cooked. Currently EV chargers are being replaced & this was one reason I chose it. But there’s a BP garage close with supposedly fast chargers but they’re slow. Staff are great & food the night before was reasonable too.

Lovely welcome from reception, easy free parking .Added bonus of swimming and spa pool,again with super friendly and helpful staff , offer of fresh fruit after swim which was a nice touch . Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice.

Room was dirty, bathroom was dirty.

I can say without a doubt from parking up to driving away my stay was first class . The staff were both very helpful and polite. I did not meet one person that did not have a smile or good manner. The Bar well stocked .The Breakfast was superb with plenty of choices to meet everyone’s desire. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. I can without any reservations fully recommend this establishment.

Good location let down by the unclean conditions in the breakfast area, floors sticky from being mopped with dirty water. Window sills decrepit, full of dead insects and grime. Too many staff doing nothing when they need to get started with cleaning the areas. Kitchen fire doors very loud when closing, tv needs to have subtitles, not volume during breakfast. Bathroom not cleaned to an acceptable standard, musty smell in bedroom, fire alarm located above bed with red flashing lights every 11 seconds destroying any chance of restful sleep. We always book holiday inns and this was very disappointing indeed.

Clean no frills hotel. Staff was nice. A good full breakfast was included.

We have stayed here several times but it has deteriorated into a mess, its dirty public rooms and toilets our in room radiator did not work so they provided us with a mild radiator but it gave out little real heat, the staff are great but the whole place needs real money spending on it. You can tell by the clientele that are stopping there that things have changed . Sadly It's lost any spark it once had !!!

Very quite and clean room with plenty of room for 2 adults and 1 child aged 7. Sofa bed with comfortable. Breakfast was very good,.all freshly made and hot. All staff friendly and welcoming.

Bedroom wasn’t the bed. Smelt a bit damp, fan didn’t work in the bathroom so we couldn’t use the mirror for hours after showering and the A/C wasn’t working properly. Breakfast was… okay. Lots of option but the quality wasn’t great.

Fit for a quick stay, booked because of pool, but pool was very dirty and tired!

Room fine but cold. Window has a vent in that can't be closed and caused a draft. Electric heather provided which helped. Extractor fan in bathroom not working meaning room full of steam. Shower head rail broken. Hairdryer broken. Some of the hotel smells damp. Breakfast excellent, staff lovely

Lovely staff, amazing breakfast... The WiFi and reception of the hotel let's it down and the rooms could do with some tlc, the carpet was pulled up, the curtains were strained and the paint was peeling off, however it was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Loved the location of the property for visiting Alton Towers. Room clean and beds comfortable, air con not working in 38 degree heat was less than ideal with a 5 year old. Staff very apologetic, not their fault I guess which is why we didn’t complain… but just felt disappointed as it did affect our stay greatly. If the air con had been working I’d have given 5*.

Rooms are very small, especially for a Holiday Inn. Breakfast was fine - but more Holiday Inn Express than Holiday Inn.

I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent stay at your hotel. I booked a room expecting a comfortable environment, but upon arrival, I discovered that the air conditioning was not working—during an ongoing heat wave. The receptionist informed us that the AC had been out of order for the past two weeks. This is unacceptable and should have been clearly communicated to us before we booked. Had we known, we would have made alternative arrangements. We were offered unlimited water as compensation, which is insufficient given the circumstances. We were on a long journey and specifically chose your hotel to rest and recover for the next day of travel. The extreme heat and lack of sleep severely impacted our well-being. In fact, my father was unable to drive the following day due to exhaustion and as a diabetic on insulin needed sleep. Which was impossible in the above 28 degrees inside the room with no window that we could open and one small fan. I expect a partial or full refund for this stay, as the room did not meet basic standards of comfort or transparency. I hope you will treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves. Hotel was generally good, except for the lack of air conditioning. The two rooms we booked did have a fan, but it was soooo hot, and not because it was a hot day. 22/23 degrees with rain! So room was hard to sleep in at nighttime. The dinner/breakfast deal was good value. Both were pretty good. A good stop over though to go up to the Lake District.

I was given one of the basement rooms a long walk from reception. I was told if i wasn't happy, they couldn't do anything because the hotel was full. The walls were paper thin. I could hear next doors full conversation and people having sex in the room across the corridor. I got very little sleep and had 2 early starts. Just wasn't ideal. The staff were lovely and helpful and the breakfast was great

My stay was the worst possible stay i have ever had. I went with my partner and daughter who is 8. It has been in its 30° plus weather and the hotels A.C didn't work so for the last 3 days we all couldn't sleep as it was too hot. All night we stayed awake as it was far too hot and stuffy in the room. my daughter would cry at night as it was too uncomfortable with the hot air in the room. There was no complementary water in the room had to beg for that too. one night i jad to let my daughter sleep in the car with the A.C on just so she could get some sleep. This actually spoiled our holiday. Asked to be moved to another room b t the wouldn't. I have been to a lot of hotels in my time but if there has been an issue they always move you to another room or come up with a solution. I get the hotel felt old anout dated but the basics of A.C in a room with this heat wave especially when you have 3 bodies in a room. I literally have wasted my last 4 days stay and money. I felt really let down especially for my eight year old.

Had a good stay. Everything was very good except that the wifi wasn’t very good in the room. Great breakfast. Just be aware the are two holiday inns in the area.

On arrival I was greeted by the receptionist who obviously doesn't usually work Saturday nights Alex. Told me the previous customer he was dealing with was a entitled T*sspot. In front of my young child wasn't the best welcoming. Then he commented on how could anyone stay at Alton towers splash landings was surprising as the room had no air con and always hot. So when I went to my room I was surprised to learn their Aircon didn't work and was unpleasant hot even in October. Beds were too soft and pillows just not what you'd expect from a hotel. Breakfast had items missing and not the best of quality in general. But edible. Decor throughout looked outdated and a fresh lick of paint need but that's being petty the room was clean. The woman on checkout didn't seem like she wanted to be there. But the cleaners seemed happy

One night quick business trip en route North from Dorset. When you have been driving or working somewhere all day the really important thing when you get a to hotel is to get checked in quickly and get to your room... Not the case here. Had to wait 20 - 25 minutes as only one person Olly was on reception with a queue of around 6 people all waiting to check in. Painfully slow. Room was small but OK, pillows were foam rubber type and had seen better days. Some Holiday inns are great value for money, some areas have better Premier Inn's.... this one needs an upgrade. Breakfast was quite good and pretty standard.

Good staff but not enough of them. Struggled to replenish breakfast items such as milk, bacon, hash browns and water for the tea urn. Took a long time to checkout

The room we had didn’t get hot water fast enough, and the bed was too soft. They changed our room without any problems or questions and was very happy with the change. Helpful staff.

Called the number (as per email) to sort a late check in, was told after waiting twice for 15 mins that no-one was answering to arrange it so had to change plans to go to the hotel to book in. No issues once at the hotel, just annoying you are offered a service that isn’t possible..

I have stayed here many times and its always been clean and comfortable and the staff always friendly. However this time they went above and beyond. My son won an award at his football presentation and the staff at the hotel upgraded us to a bigger room and gave him a free drink and a snack. The barman also gave me a free drink too. I am always impressed with the staff here and this is the reason we keep coming back. Thank you to everyone who made his night even more special!

The staff from check-in through to the bar and restaurant were outstanding.

The staff are the stars in this Hotel. Every one of them was pleasant, cheerful and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had on one of our frequent overnight stopovers when we make our regular trips from down South to up North. It’s our first time at this hotel but the breakfast really excels in comparison to other hotels in the locality.

Very convenient for the purpose of our journey. Excellent food at breakfast and dinner. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good-size room with a comfy bed. What more could we want?!

The hotel is in a great location, from the outside the hotel is a little dated but very clean and pleasant inside. Used the hotel several times visiting family and will defo use again in the future. Also dog friendly, which is a massive bonus.

Overall Excellent, friendly staff and lovely breakfast. Very close to the motorway for easy access. Second time we have stayed and will stay again.

TbH I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel exterior isn't much to look at but the rooms are very clean and beds very comfortable. The bar and restaurant are very nice. The pool is just ok, definitely could do with a face lift.

A perfect place for an overnight pit stop. Very convenient for the M6

An ideal location for an our one night stay that included free parking. The inclusion of the swimming pool as part of the stay was a welcome addition and the breakfast was also very good with plenty of options available. Staff were also friendly and helpful.

Excellent gluten free choices, children catered for really well with bowls,eating utensils and different high chairs. Staff obliging and engaged. Breakfast one of the best.

Have stayed here several times just seems to be getting worse. I ordered a drink to e waitress who was friendly came back to say they didn’t have it, I ordered a salad they didn’t have it I ordered a desert after waiting a long time she came back 5 minutes later and again didn’t have it. When I left this morning the chap on the desk asked how was my stay I was honest and said not as good as usual he then didn’t say a word printed my bill and I left Why ask???

Nice stay but room was a bit tired and quite old facilities. Tv wasn’t great and no usb etc for charges. Staff lovely, breakfast good and plentiful. Would stay again.

The bed was comfy, the shower was hot, the wifi worked. The room service pizza was awful. I got back at midnight and tried to order some food at the bar which was still open. They said you can't order from here, you have to order from the app in the room. Ok. I went back to the room, ordered a pizza. I was tired and hungry. Eventually (after about 30 minutes) I'm almost asleep, trying to stay awake and fearful of missing the door knock, however the phone rang - oh we don't have any ham for your pizza, do you want pepperoni instead? Well, not really but i guess I'll have to. So another 30 minutes went by and the thing finally shows up. Really grim. A greasy slab of bread and cheese with whatever they had left in the back of the fridge. It was a strong contender for worst pizza ever. My italian friends would have sued for misrepresenting their country. it was an insult to a thousand years of mediterranean culinary expertise. I still ate it. I was that hungry (there were no mcd's or similar around for miles.) Bah. And it cost 20 quid!!!!!! £17.50 plus an "optional" gratuity which it was impossible to remove from the order in the app, even if I'd wanted to. It takes a braver man than I to stiff the room service order! Anyway - when I left, the fo the fella on Reception reminded me that I needed to pay for charges!! When I told my pizza tale he was very sympathetic and scrubbed the cost. His name was Prasad and he deserves a commendation. Thank you, Prasad - a real Gentleman.

Bizarre 2 night trip and a tale of differing evenings. One day was shocking with the room air on being broken on the hottest night of the year. In fact it didn’t work for the entire duration. Dinner didn’t improve with both starter and main courses arriving at the same time. Dinner on day2 was much better. Unfortunately watered down orange juice and perpetually overcooked fried eggs didn’t help breakfast although my poached eggs on day 2 were spot on.

We had an amazing stay, the bathroom was on the small size but was all clean. Had a meal on Sunday and unfortunately after waiting nearly half an hour, my fish was uneatable as it was over cooked and dry. Refund was given but no one apologise .

Having stayed here many times when attending dog shows i was rather disappointed with the amount of meals that were unavailable on the dinner menu in both mains and desserts.
