Quaint, boutique hotel. A bit of a walk to the walled city. Fyi, no elevator. If booking through 2nd party, like hotel.com, then call hotel to reserve a parking space $25 per night.

Great Location. Not having a staff member onsite is interesting as is the all-electronic access. The staff was most responsive though remote. We are in our 70’s and in good shape but dragging luggage and ourselves up 33 stairs to our room was a burden. At least a disclosure that there is no elevator would be good.

I booked this hotel because they have an electric vehicle charger. I called them to verify before booking. When I arrived and paid the parking fee, the chargers were not working. No one is on site so I called them using their front desk phone. They said they’d send someone to come look at it. They never did. I called back a few hours later and they said it wouldn’t be fixed until tomorrow. I paid extra to stay here vs other places because of the car charger. Very disappointing as I had to leave early to charge my car on the way back to the airport.

Nous avons vraiment adoré notre séjour à l’hôtel. Notre chambre était parfaite : les lits étaient super confortables et le concept avec lits superposés, c’est idéal quand on voyage avec des enfants. L’immeuble est vieux, mais justement… j’ai trouvé ça super charmant. J’ai aussi beaucoup aimé qu’il n’y ait pas de réception. Tout se fait en ligne, mais c’est très facile de parler à quelqu’un si on a besoin d’aide. Le petit stationnement (avec frais) est pratique, et surtout : il y a une borne de recharge pour les véhicules électriques — gros plus pour nous! Il y a aussi une salle commune où on peut se préparer un petit déjeuner, avec micro-ondes et grille-pain. Très pratique le matin. Bref, on a adoré notre expérience et on espère vraiment y retourner un jour.

Ok property. Well situated and well priced if you are looking for a place to sleep while enjoying the old Quebec area (just a quick walk away). Parking was an issue as it was during the summer festival in Quebec. At $25 for reserved parking spot that was occupied, and ended up in another spot and got boxed in (likely by festival attendee). Just ok.

Very clean and quiet place to stay. The city center is a 15-20 min walk from the hotel. Breakfast is included in the price and the restaurant is located 3 min walk from the hotel. Parking is within the property and has 1 CCS charger for your EV. 4/5 only because parking is not included in the price and it is 17$/day (Hotel description doesn't have this information on Expedia)

I stayed here alone for one night and overall had a great experience. The hotel is very well located, extremely clean, and the rooms are spacious, cozy, and comfortable. I really appreciated the smart TV, mini fridge, and coffee setup in the room. There’s also a shared kitchen downstairs in the lobby, which is a big plus. One thing to note: the walls are very thin, and you can hear quite a lot from neighboring rooms. Other than that, I really loved my stay and would definitely recommend it, especially for a solo stay or short visit.

Parking could be better arranged to many possibilities to be blocked in

Just my wife and I , we booked this months in advance. There is no staff in the building , bathroom was dated and moldy, barking dog in room next to us, window opens to admin closet. TV did not work, room was stuffy. Horrible worse experience in years. Do not go here. Room was never cleaned, we had to go get our own towels.

Hotel bien placé, parking payant 17$ HT, un joli style intérieur comme extérieur, cependant accueil médiocre, froid, chambre sans une fenêtre donnant sur l'extérieur mais dans un corridor accessible a tous , manque d'intimité et manque d'air, rideau non occultant , sdb spacieuse mais douche avec rideau plastique très spartiate. Petit déjeuner moyen , table pas debarrasseé, il faut demander les tasses et les verres..... mauvaise insonorisation on entendait constemment des pas au dessus. Nous avons passe 3 nuits le ménage n'a jamais été fait, décevant. Pas de bouteille d'eau, ni de réfrigérateur, pas à la hauteur dun 3 étoiles . Dommage

Les places de stationnement ne sont pas indiquées derrière l'hôtel donc on ne sait pas trop si on est stationné chez le voisin... (peut-être était-ce au sol mais en hiver on ne voit rien). La télé ne fonctionnait pas. Il manquait une porte de douche... (eh oui!!). Des serviettes blanches avaient des grandes traces de vert.., et on voyait que c'était usé... pas mal usé... L'endroit est bien situé, mais l'hôtel manque définitivement d'amour.

Room was dirty. There were “dust hares” under the beds which were only downgraded to dust bunnies when I requested a deep clean. Broken light bulb in the bathroom, lack of soap in soap dispenser and tiny bugs everywhere were not addressed despite our requests.

Check-in: I never received any check-in instructions until 2 hours from 4pm of the day of arrival. This was really concerning me because the notes associated with this hotel's page indicated that the check-in instructions would be sent up to 48 hours ahead of check-in. The access code was easy to use, but the sheer lack of communication leading up to receiving the access code was so frustrating, that I found myself messaging them via the hotels.com website as well as their own website's "contact us" page. Room itself: We were given a room on the second floor (the top floor of the building) and the room door was right in front of the staircase. The room door was associated with some access code device, but the latch was a bit loose, which ended up with an incident where some random person barged into the room (with no explanation of why they even barged in..). This gave me some concern for my security. Everything else seemed clean and organised UNTIL I saw a spider crawl across the ceiling and a centipede-looking bug crawl across the floor. I in fact woke up the next day to a spider in my shoe. There was also a ball of dust next to the radiator. Washroom: Clean enough but the sink was installed literally four feet away from the bed. The floor of the shower was clean, but the installation to cover the water (shower "doors" I guess) were not the cleanest. Other: Hair dryer's back (the metal mesh) was literally scotch-taped to the dryer. Fire hazard. Be careful.

Initially the room I was booked into wasn't prepped/clean for my stay. I called management and they immediately organised a new clean/ready room for me. Facilities were good but needs a little updating in my opinion, for example the bathroom smelled damp, which is a shame because the lobby was clean and smelled nice. Location of hotel is ideal for a short walk into old quebec.

La chambre n'avait pas été faites lors de notre arrivé à 17h15 le 31 décembre. Une chance que nous sommes passé avant notre soirée. Puisque personne n'est sur place, nous avons dû téléphoner et attendre pour se faire donner une mauvaise excuse... seulement un petit ménage avait été fait puisque les personnes gardait la chambre pour une autre nuit... C'est n'importe quoi, aucun lit de fait, plein de café dans le lavabo... Aucune personne du Management n'a téléphoné pour s'excuser ou offrir une compensation. C'est inacceptable quand la base d'un hôtel est d'avoir des chambres propres pour de nouveau client. De plus, nous chambre avait besoin de beaucoup d'amour en comparaison aux autres chambres de l'hotel.

The room was not maintained. Tons of dust under the bed, light bulb burnt out, towel rack fell off the wall, no water pressure, shower water took 5 min to heat up, door lock and unlock was finicky, air conditioner sounds like the Industrial Revolution going on.

The air conditioning did not work and the room was quite small with hardly any amenities. We had to open the windows to cool off and it faced on to a very noisy street.

Quaint property that is in a great location. Bed was really comfortable. It is a century building so lacking some modern conveniences. No micro wave or coffee maker and no longer serve.breakfast. provide a certificate for a coffee and pastry across the street.

The room was extremely small. Cannot even walk properly. The shower stall was super tiny. They charged us more than quotes by Hotels.com and I am following up since 10 days for the receipt breakup and they are just not sending it. I had pay at property so they are obliged to give me the receipt.

The room was clean and pretty. NIce view to the street! Parking was confusing but worked out fine. Maps of the local areas of interest would have been nice. We had no idea how close many nice restaurants were without have to hike up the hill toward the Old City. The only slight complaint was the room was very warm, hot at night and being on the street opening the window was a little loud. Other than that it was very good value for the cost :)

Nice small hotel, ideally located to walk everywhere in old Québec City. The room set up was perfect as we travelled with our dog, though a little small and missing desk to store our cloths. The bed was very comfortable, the room was nicely decorated… overall, excellent for our little get away with our dog!

It would be nice to have a small fridge in the rooms for drinks.

The room was small. Bathroom was great. Stairs were narrow, steep and plentiful. The room had a smoking odour of years gone by. They tried to remedy it with deodorizing spray but it did not work. I didn’t see one employee but all of my requests I texted were acted upon. Extra towels etc.

We had a nice stay at Hotel Charles-Alexandre. However, it would have been improved if there had been a concierge staff at the front desk. We had a few issues that could have been quickly resolved had there been someone to talk with, and someone to advise us as to local restaurants, shops, sights. The location was good, and the bed comfortable. No dresser in the room, just a small closet with no hangers, and no fresh coffee in the lobby. We had a dehumidifier/AC unit in the room that leaked on the floor and a window we couldn't close. Staff checked in daily via text, but someone at the front desk would have been very helpful.

Spacious and clean unit with helpful staff who responded in a timely fashion to any questions or requests

Check-in was a bit difficult, everything else was perfect.

There are new owners, new processes & plenty of chaos & confusion about reservations, check in, securing your keys, obtaining breakfast vouchers. Even getting basic towels in your room is a monumental task. I have been a customer for more than 20 years. This time I hosted international guests after bragging about this property. How embarrassing & disappointing. When I asked to speak with the new owners to share my feedback privately, it was a request ignored. Not going back!

No one at the reception, it is difficult to get help. Also the stairs smelled of bug spray, which was too intense. We had to wait a lot to get the keys, and then code didn't work timely.Location is good otherwise. And room itself was clean.But a hotel needs a good reception.

Good hotel, I was a bit weirded out by their whole remote front desk thingy, but it was a nice short stay. Clean and comfy room. Public transit easily available, near tourists areas.

it was close to the attractions but just outside the tourist jam

The location was ideal for our sightseeing. The atmosphere was very nice and our room was good. The beds were comfortable. There wasn't any staff around at any time and that was a bit problematic when something was needed. For instance, we ran out of tissues and there wasn't anyone around to ask for more. Another example is not knowing how to use the HVAC system in the room and there weren't any directions as far as I know. I think it is strange to not have anyone to act as "host" for the property.

Great area for exploring QC. Plains de Abraham near us. Lots of restaurants and close to old town. Nice to have free parking. No staff on site but very quick response to we need more towels and shampoo conditioner when we texted. In advance i got lots of tourist info from very helpful person at online reception.

The hotel is charming. The room was comfortable and pretty. The staff was accommodating and friendly. There was a good breakfast in a pleasant room. The Charles-Alexandre is close to Avenue Cartier, the Musée des Beaux-arts, Plains of Abraham and the old city, but it is far enough away for the neighborhood to be quiet. The only drawback is there are no elevators — very European! Request a ground floor room if you aren’t up to carrying your suitcase up a winding flight of stairs.

Breakfast is good with some choices. Room is clean. Easy walk to old Town. This nice looking hotel provides 3-day free bus pass if you stay 3 days. But two electric sockets near the light table was not working. No house cleaning if you stay only 3 days.

I enjoyed my 4-night solo stay at Charles-Alexandre. The Staff are supportive and responsive. Breakfast options were limited, maybe they could include some eggs, cereal and fresh fruit on the weekends. The mattress was in good shape and I was able to sleep restfully.

Excellent location and extremely clean! Very quaint and walkable to old city as well as many restaurants/bars in the area. The breakfast was very fresh and delicious, especially the croissants! It was a bit odd that the washroom was not a closed room, just a divider and curtains. It was fine as a couple, but would feel less comfortable renting with a friend.

Stay was quite nice and young man at check in was very helpful. Stairs up 2 very long and steep flights was challenging. Room was compact with only 1 bath towel per person and 1 sachet of shampoo for a 2 night stay. Rooms are serviced after 3 days only, maybe we could have requested more bathroom accessories but we just went with it. Breakfast was nice but no variation on second day, room was small and some people had to wait to get a table.

J’ai trouvé ça dommage ne ne pas avoir de petit déjeuner sur place comme c’était indiqué dans l’annonce, mais des coupons pour un petit déjeuner assez ordinaire dans un comptoir de café à 5 minutes de l’hôtel.

I enjoyed my stay very much. The staff was very nice and helpful, my room was very charming. I loved that I was at walking distance from many Québec’s attractions, that there were many restaurants and shops nearby. My only complaint is about the breakfast: it was supposed to be a buffet at a nearby art gallery and turn out to be a coffee and sandwich at a cafeteria
