Clearly use the carpark to make money when there is a football match on, leaving the hotel guests struggling to park. No policing of blue badge bays as nearly all of the plentiful bays were being used by non-badge holders and all were full. As a wheelchair user, there were NO accessible bays at all despite multiple laps of carpark. Couldn't park my own car in the end. Had to ask someone else to do it in order to get chair out. Not ideal and not dignified. Really bad start to the trip.

Very attentive staff despite arriving on a busy Saturday evening. Clean rooms, nice food with great service. Parked round the back so don't panic if no parking at the front. Booked family room which was on first floor - but no lift so tricky with baby buggy. Also room was quite warm and AC didn't work, but saying that I would book here again and was happy with this hotel.

Had a very enjoyable stay at the Holiday Inn Reading South. Lovely friendly staff. Breakfast was so tasty and such plentiful choice. The gym is compact but big enough too keep you fit. Convenient for Reading or Heathrow. Would i stay again...A Massive Big Yes.

Disappointed on this trip - 2nd stay in 2 weeks - had to pay £10 for parking on top of room rate - also a service charge on drinks at bar! Depending on who checks you in vastly depends on experience- was hoping to stay longer in new year but looking elsewhere

Reception staff were really friendly and it was the perfect location for a visit to Reading University. Free parking was a plus and even some electric charging points (didn’t use but handy to know for future). Could hear some noise from other people in their room but only hairdryer and expected in a hotel like this.

Good location, good selection at breakfast - cooked and fresh fruit etc. Rooms are tired and need updating. The room I had 141 smelt. Being there for a few days the Gym could do with being open a little earlier. Also find it off-putting that you have pay for parking on top of what you have paid already to stay.

Friendly staff, comfortable room, lovely breakfast choices, convenient to the freeway, and easy parking. The only two negatives: needs new carpeting throughout, looks old and dated with lots of stains; heating in the rooms can be overbearing and difficult to cool down...despite turning down the thermostat, it would turn back on again after a certain period of time...not good for a woman who is going through hot flushes! lol Overall a fabulous stay, highly recommend and would stay again.

Floors were filthy, cleaned our room but left the garbage, including our breakfast plates. Staff really friendly with our kids and ourselves, which made up for things. Great having a free breakfast every Monday, really helped with getting the kids fed for cheap. Room got really hot and couldn’t control the temperature.

Upon arriving at the hotel staff member on the desk was helpful gave us keys to room, upon arriving at the room the hadn’t been cleaned from the previous guest towels on floor/beds not made, hotel quickly moved us to another room which they said was an upgrade but was no different really to the room we originally booked other than a fridge! they had to send someone up to make up the sofa bed for our son which took 20-30 minutes which wasn’t ideal as he just wanted to go the sleep as we’d have a long car journey and it was nearly 10pm

Unfortunately, when I arrived there was a large group checking in so had to join a long queue but the staff dealt with them much more quickly than I had feared. The room was clean but there was a smell in the bathroom coming from the waste pipes. Think a bit of freshener would help! Food was okay, it was a little disappointing for me. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially when we had a problem with paying for a meal. It was sorted the following morning when I checked out.

Staff member was absolutely wonderful and made check in simple and swift. Room was nice and spacious with comfortable beds. Only issue was the room being too hot throughout the night even when thermostat was turned down. It automatically increased in temp, which was a little uncomfortable.

Nice hotel and convenient just off M4, staff very friendly. Says rooms are soundproofed, they aren’t, judging by the sheer volume coming from the corridor, and not helped thank was on a corner. Decor in the room looking very tired.

Excellent location for walking to the office in the morning, 20 minutes to Manor Park. Personnel is nice and helpful. Room is spacious, bed is confortable, nice desk for using a laptop. I like that the TV allows to stream your own tablet / PC so you don't have to faff around with accounts. Breakfast is good, decent choice of pastries, good choice of cereals. The only issue is the really small bathroom. You need to manoeuver when you open the door, and when you sit on the WC the doorstop is right under your foot.

Overall is excellent. Wonderful service but room only available after 14:15 which is a bit delayed from the check in time. Room is neat and bigger than I expected. However, fridge is not available in the room so whoever planning to stay there must be alerted.

Excellent hotel. Staff were really friendly and really couldn’t do enough for you. All staff were excellent with the kids especially the lady who checked us in, the gentleman who was seating us at breakfast time and the gentleman on reception Saturday morning. All were very friendly and helpful and really made my daughters weekends. Thank you. The girls also appreciated the free hot chocolates and sweets each day and we appreciated that they ate free for our whole stay.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. 30 minute drive to Legoland which was convenient enough for us. Breakfast was good. And staff happy to fill up our water bottles with iced water on such a hot few days there!

Generally a really good night’s sleep but the cleaners started emptying out their cleaning cupboard at 7am on a Sunday morning. It went on for 40 mins. Think our room must have been next to where they keep all the trollies and vacuums. Breakfast was busy as a weekend but had to wait for clean glasses and mugs for tea/coffee. Food was very good in both for breakfast and evening meal. No complaints there whatsoever. Staff on reception, very polite. Bar staff pleasant enough albeit a bit slow and restaurant staff were excellent.

Yep no problem, all what you’d expect, decent service, food was fine, the hotel is in very good condition with decent amenities. Biggest plus for me was the selection of beers by Double Barrelled Brewing which are a local company. Truly excellent beers at a reasonable price, for a hotel.

Hotel was fine, staff excellent, issue was the restaurant. I have eaten there before and it was mediocre, but acceptable for business meals, however this time it was dire. Starter of crispy squid is usually cooked in a light tempura batter. This was cooked in an extremely greasy normal batter, every unappetising and I had to cut most of it away. It came with a woefully meagre potion of aioli sauce. The mains of sea bass was shameful - the fish had been cooked upside down and was almost inedible. The thin fillet was heavily seared on the flesh side with hardly cooked, flaccid and rancid skin. How a piece of ‘cardboard’ fish was let out of the kitchen in that state is a mystery to me and this is the very last time I will eat in that so called ‘restaurant’. I would highly recommend that other guests eat elsewhere until they get some properly trained chefs/cooks and improve the food.

We stayed here on our way home from Thorpe Park to break up the journey- me and my husband and our 3 young cousins (9, 11 and 12). We were given the adjoining rooms that we requested and rooms were made up for all of us. Rooms were clean and comfortable, even the sofa beds. Showers were hot with decent pressure. Breakfast was great- it was nice to see alternative milk option out as we usually have to request it at other hotels! Staff were really helpful and friendly. There are plenty of shops/takeaways around and a grassy park to go for a stroll just behind the hotel. We would definitely stay again.
