Lovely hotel in a good location for Ponds Forge if you are competing there. Air con has a lowest temperature of 18 degrees but they do provide a fan. Rooms are well sized, have comfortable beds and pillows. They did have thick duvets despite it being summer. Gym is very small with only a few machines but as no one was using it when I did it was adequate. Breakfast - we ate the first morning at the opening time for the restaurant and a lot of the fresher food was not put out. The next day when we came later there were croissants and pastries. No take away options and a smaller selection compared to other Sheffield hotels. The Hotel has a lot of history to it and has photos on every floor sharing its heritage. Great to see this. All in all we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it as a good place to stay.

Lovely hotel with a lovely history. To bring this history to life there are photos around the hotel showing the time it was a technical college. Small gym but every time I have stayed I have been the only user so it perfectly adequate.

An interesting hotel in an excellent central location. Staff are very good and helpful but the breakfast room was so overwhelmed with people that there a half hour wait. Parking is an issue. It is a long walk to the recommended car park and a one way street was closed at the exit to the car park when we left - needing us to go the wrong way along the one way street. No information was provided by the car park company about this - the hotel was unaware of the issues.

The hotel was clean and tidy, and provided super-convenient access to the city centre. The only negative was the lack of parking and there was no guarantee that I wouldn't get a parking ticket whilst checking-in.

The staff are fabulous. They are always welcoming and knowledgeable and solve any problems fast. There is a great partnership with the local car park with a good discounted rate. The rooms are a bit tired but comfortable and have good coffee, tea, etc. Rates are very competitive. The bar in the lobby is fun and friendly. There is a very diverse range of guests, which shows that the welcome works. I keep returning and have discovered many others do, too. I tried elsewhere, but this comes out top for me.

very dirty & dated, cobwebs in the room, something spilled on bed side table & bathroom walls, curly hairs in sink. headboard scratched to bits, toilet role holder hanging off, just to name a few things. overall not worth what thy are charging, great location but i would not stay again. for £100 there are much better hotels which also include breakfast!

Hotel looks nice on the surface, but lacks any type of soundproofing from other rooms for the street... Lot of little things aren't quite right, grouting in the bathroom etc.... feels slightly neglected or poor quality refurb... Although the bed was comfortable and room clean enough... And it's a good location. Breakfast was nice. But overall I probably wouldn't stay again

The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in for a while. The shower head seriously needs tightening as it moves all over the place. Also I suggest the plug hole is cleaned as the water took ages to go. Breakfast fine but I thing the eggs had been out too long (formed a hard skin on the bottom). Overall, it’s an ok hotel for those that need on in the city

Room was standard, comfy and clean but a few things let it down. Sink drains slowly and tv wasn’t working in the evening. Some black mould in the shower and a big cracked tile in the bathroom. Nothing that hindered our stay. Bed was very comfy and room was lovely and quiet.

Lovely hotel in an old school building. The conversion to a hotel has been excellently done, with many original features and old photographs preserved. Clean comfirtable rooms with very comfortable beds. Friendly helpful staff. Perfect!

The building looked first class and you can see the ageless history being looked after , unfortunately the cleanliness in the room was poor with dusting needed in the bedroom area and the bathroom fan was absolutely blocked with dust making it useless in taking the steam away. An overall clean would have picked these issues up 😕

My second time in this hotel. Still good, with a particularly comfortable bed and a great powerful shower. Friendly staff and a good deal on nearby parking. Excellent location right in the centre of town.

Room and bed was absolutely fantastic and very comfortable. Unfortunately as we were a room that looked directly onto leopold square we heard music very loud until 2am and the lights from the square were constantly shining into the room which made it very difficult to sleep.

I had a lovely brief stay here, lovely room in a beautiful building but it was like a maze trying to find the room! The room needed 3 or 4 maintenance issues, all small things but the bed was fantastic and pillows amazing!! Best pillow I ever had!! The staff were all superb, so pleasant friendly and professional. The car park is very far, I’m disabled but it took me 40 min to walk from the car park until I got to my room!! Ridiculous I’m afraid, impossible for some

Staff were lovely and the location is great as you are incredibly central. Bed was soft and comfortable. However, the bathroom was in poor condition for what is supposed to be a high end hotel. It had mould in the bathroom and the lighting in the bathroom and room was awful. Very orange and dim - not ideal if you plan to use it to do any hair or makeup. Additionally the Aircon did not work. The staff can control the Aircon from the reception area and despite efforts, it was not working. Not great as it was a very warm day. The team were kind enough to provide us with a stand up fan which was very worn down and dusty. Really poor value for money.

The room was lovely, we're on the top floor and it has one of those attic windows. The room also has ac/heating which is very desirable in ventilation with the room as the window mentioned above only open slightly. The bathroom was clean, though the water pressure from the sink could've been adjusted as it always splash everywhere when you try and open the tap. The arrangement of the room was great, with the usual clutter being stored cleverly in the wardrobe. The bed was really comfy, however we didn't like the pillow because of the plastic packaging being inside the pillow. It make a lot of noises when you're moving on it and they're heavy and big. I can't really judge whether this hotel is worth the value as the price has been inflated a lot due to the Snooker Championship. Overall, we really enjoy the service whenever we have any interaction with any staff from the hotel.

Great location for the City Hall with bars & restaurants in abundance in the area. Staff were fantastic! Had a mezzanine room but a little disappointed with it. Basic things like limited light for my wife to do her hair/make-up etc…and, to have the room lights on downstairs, you had to have them on upstairs which was bizarre! Breakfast on Sunday morning was chaotic to say the least

Hotel staff were great and the room was large and clean. However, given it was split level, when i arrived the upstairs level (where the bed is) was extremely warm. There was only a tiny vent in the upper level and windows aren't able to open, meaning it did not cool down all evening. I eventually slept on the sofa in the lower level which was nice and cool!

I was firstly given an awkward shaped room with a large useless corridor which made the bedroom area very small. I asked to be moved and the staff did move me to another one straight away. The second room was the expected good size, however the view was a massive wall which was not pleasant and made room darker too. The air conditioning was not strong enough and did not heat the room adequately. There were scratches on the leather bed head, but shower had really good pressure and heat. Location is excellent.

Loved the reception staff nothing too much trouble. We arrived back from our show quite late so no food asked reception for room service but as can’t eat bread sandwiches were a nono for me but sandwiches were delivered for my partner and sandwich fillings for me absolutely delicious and complementary too. We will be back to see you again

Check-in was smooth and the front desk clerk(male) was really friendly and efficient. He gave us a room on the 5th floor which was the top floor and he upgraded our room from a Double to a King. The room was clean, spacious. The bathroom was excellent with everything we needed. The power/temperature of the shower was amazing. We got a pretty deal at £64 for a Sunday stay.

The day we arrived the team were having a nightmare because all thr IT systems were down so no one could access the rooms. The staff remained calm and friendly throughout and were doing their very best to sort everything. After 20 mins or so we ended up in a different room on the lower ground floor which was actually a good thing because it was much colder than the rest of the hotel. They compensated us and we had a lovely two night stay. Breakfast was really tasty and the location is perfect. Happy to return and are doing so in May and August

Excellent overnight stay, lovely helpful staff (especially when we accidently locked ourselves out in the night). Did have an issue with the cleaner coming in despite paying extra for a late check out but this was apologised for sinse rally and even given another hour to get ourselves ready. The TV in my room was terrible and there were a rubbish in the bin, the hotel stuffs were a bit rude and the cleaners opened my door whilst I was inside at 9:30 Am

The location was great and the staff tried hard, however, everything else was only just okay. The door lock system does not work well with you having to replace the keys frequently. Also, all the public areas are too small. The worst was getting into the breakfast room there were queues and some days impossible to get in.

When checking in on the Sunday afternoon (17th November 2024)at around 15.30, the young man at reception was very rude & unhelpful. As an example when we politely asked where the toilet was he abruptly said down there. It was actually through several corridors & not straightforward. First impressions set the tone & we were left feeling very uncomfortable & disappointed.

Great location as it is moments away from everything, the down side is on a Friday and Saturday night its not quiet. Clean enough but a bit pokey in the room itself. Staff were lovely and over all good, nothing special apart from the location.

An interesting hotel in an excellent central location. Staff are very good and helpful but the breakfast room was so overwhelmed with people that there a half hour wait. Parking is an issue. It is a long walk to the recommended car park and a one way street was closed at the exit to the car park when we left - needing us to go the wrong way along the one way street. No information was provided by the car park company about this - the hotel was unaware of the issues.

Booked a room for 10th May and asked if I wanted breakfast on the saturday morning which I did. Went out Friday and came back to hotel and there was a large party of people in the bar, who were also staying at the hotel…very little room in the bar area. Went for breakfast at 8:15am Saturday morning to find out there were no tables in the breakfast restaurant (due to the large part being down for breakfast) moved to a side room where i was told my drinks order would be taken. went to main breakfast area and got a few breakfast items and returned to table.. I asked for coffee and toast on three occasions over a 20 minute period to no avail. When i checked out I asked for a refund for breakfast which they did. I asked reception why they didn’t mention a big party was staying before i booked breakfast and i got no reply. For a £154 overnight stay I was disappointed and if they had said about the large party staying i could have made alternative arrangements for the evening and breakfast, and to be fair they were extremely noisy.

Lovely hotel with beautiful features. Our Deluxe room had the most incredibly comfortable bed and feather pillows so sleep was excellent. We ate in the bar which was good, plentiful and really tasty - although it took a longer time to come - but that just meant it was cooked for us to order.

We had a fantastic stay. The staff were so nice, we were celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary, our room was upgraded, and we were given a free drink at the bar. We felt so welcome, the staff were amazing. Would defiantly stay here again. Thank you for looking after us.

Room was too noisy due to outside bars having loud music until after midnight. Room was looking tired and in need of some general maintenance and refurbishing. Black marks on shower seal, faulty bathroom door fixings. Room was for two but only one dressing gown provided and only one pair of slippers. Fridge in room was not working. We stayed here previously about 8/9 years ago and it has definitely gone downhill. It was just an ok stay - would doubt if we would ever return.
