The gym was closed and the reception said they had sold all the kit. Only one lift was working as the other had been faulty for over 2 weeks. The room was tired as the decor is very old style. Breakfast was interesting as the coffee machine was faulty, food was ok but everything in tbe dinning room is very old looking and tired! The staff are all polite and do as much as they can.. I stayed here some years ago and it was lovely, it has gone down in standards and I would unfortunately not stay again and would actively look to stay elsewhere in Swansea.

The hotel is old and in need of modernisation. The hotel only has 2 lifts, but only 1 lift was working and this would only hold 2 people. With the hotel being 7 floors ment waiting a long time for a lift.

The room was very clean and very comfortable. But there was two lifts which only carried 3 people, of which only one was in service. The parking was £9 a night, which i thought should have been free. Plus the ad for The Dragon Hotel, said they had 2 restaurants. Wrong. They didnt have avrestaurant at all . And lastly the hotel advertised 6 different beers that you could purchase 2 for £5. When we got to the bar only bottled beers were on offer. We were told the gas had gone to the pumps. Well how long does a gas bottle take to change ?

Only one elevator was working which meant long delays to access the elevator. Carpets were well worn. Breakfast was disappointing. It was buffet style. The bacon, sausage and other items were under heat lamps and the food was very dry.

The only thing that annoyed me and would stop me staying here again is the fact that I as a guest of the hotel had to pay 9 pounds a day for parking in the hotel car park, I am returning to Swansea in 6 weeks but I will not be returning to the dragon hotel because of this.

Looks like management needs to spend some money on upkeep. Thr staff was wonderful. The lift was antiquated and one wasn’t operating at all. And O fit the impression that it’s been out for a while.

Clean hotel with good service. Building and decor need refreshment. No bulb in the lamp in my children's room (family room). Not a massive issue so I didn’t mention it to staff, who I'm sure would have sorted it. Bathroom excellent and loads of room. Breakfast buffet not available but hotel wasn't busy and hot breakfast was available on request. We miss the swimming pool. Brilliant location.

By the reception, I could guess it was an old hotel. Only one lift, with a capacity for 3 people without luggage, was working. The room was disgusting. The bedsheet was dirty, the carpet full of holes. Went to the reception to complain and get a new bedsheet. They brought two new ones, and when I changed, I noticed the mattress was actually a kind of two-seater sofa, and it was wet. When I went to check the other bed, the bedsheet was also dirty. The 3rd bed my friend slept in was awful and she had to sleep sat on the bed. The heater didn't work properly either. The worst stay we have ever had in my entire life.

This is our second visit to this hotel in a few months.The first we weren’t very impressed with the cleanliness but as we had already booked it asked if we could have different rooms the second time hoping the rooms would be better.The rooms are dirty.The headboards were disgusting and need replacing they are filthy dirty.Everything in the room Needs a thorough clean.Door frames had skits all over them ,carpets had stains and need replacing. Only one lift was working for the 7 floors,this hadn’t changed since our last visit as it was still not working. The lift was tiny.just enough room for my small wheelchair and my husband to squeeze in. The man at reception who greeted us wasn’t the most pleasant member of staff,but the 2 ladies on reception as we were leaving were lovely and very pleasant.Remembering that we had been here a few weeks ago. On the whole the rooms in this hotel needs a good upgrade ,decorating and thorough cleaning and modernisation.until then I don’t think we will be staying there again.

Overall I would say the stay was nice. The hotel overall was tidy and clean and had what you needed. Shame there are no plug sockets next to the bed. BUT little things let them down - for example the window frames were very dirty, and on my photo you can see where they have dusted the dressing table, but just in front of the TV leaving a lot of dust behind. A little more care required.

The room was overall clean, however the arm chair in the room had a big stain and i could not sit on it. The tiles around the bath tub were stained so i was out off from having a bath. The main point though is there was no warmth from stuff. All i got was are you checking in? and on my last day when i approached the reception desk to check out i said good morning and the answer was 'checking out'.

Remote control was stuck to the sideboard and sticky rings were present where drinks had been from previous guests. Curtain was a wooden sliding blind - one of which not in the rails. One of pillows didn’t have a pillow case on it. One of the lifts didn’t work. In general the hote was a lot uncared for and well in need of a facelift. Didn’t help that I got a £100 parking ticket for parking in their car park even though I had paid for parking and used their little machine to register at the reception. The hotel cancelled it after a few emails but never got an apology!

Cleanliness wasn’t the best, don’t think the carpet has been hoovered or cleaned in a while, bits everywhere especially down the side of the bed. And stains in front of the sofa Couldnt really open my windows as there was some kind of air ducting outside making noise all through the night so not the greatest sleep due to the warmth of the room and noise from outside. The room did look quiet nice and looked like it’s had had a lick of paint and bathroom refurbed which was nice. Least i got the correct room id booked this time.

The only redeeming features of this hotel were that the bed was clean and comfortable, and the staff were lovely. The condition of the room was terrible, I did not want to walk around without something on my feet, the carpet was disgusting. The bathroom window didn’t shut properly so the bathroom was about 15 degrees colder than the room. Breakfast, whilst free, I sent it back, it was cold, dried up and just bad. The waiter knew it, he recommended a place opposite that did a good breakfast. I don’t usually complain, but I stay in around 30 hotels a year and this one was remarkable for all the wrong reasons.

Room was dreadful, big gaps in the windows and unable to close so big draft coming through, this was also made worse as the heating is non existent. The room I booked was a suite on second floor, the light in the bedroom didn’t work so only had the spotlights and bedside lights for lighting. We were on a night out so the room was ok to stay in for one night but it wouldn’t be acceptable if a family had to stay there. Was tempted to complain and asked to be moved but was oh my 3rd vodka by then so I had calmed down. The staff were friendly and the location was good, but the simple things need to be improved

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Yes, it doesn’t look much from the outside, but work has been done on the inside to modernise the property. Rooms were spacious, clean and had a big, comfortable bed. It was quiet and there are plenty of places to eat close by. Parking was easy at the hotel, but do not follow the website interaction to each the carpark as the road you are directed to passed specsavers is now a no entry. If you arrive and are looking directly at the hotel follow the road around to the right of the hotel and take the first road on the left for the car park. Only one small working lift when we stayed, but we were on the 2nd floor so the stairs weren’t an issue. Shower screen did not have a seal onto the bath so flooded the bathroom when used, but this has been noted by the staff for a repair. Pleasant enough stay for a few nights.

Check-in and check-out were incredibly quick and hassle-free, which made the whole experience smooth from the start. The room had everything I needed, and the bath and shower were both perfect - clean, modern, and really relaxing. I also had a lovely view over Swansea, which was a nice bonus. All in all, a great stay, and I’d be more than happy to come back again. Highly recommended!

The room was awful. Damp on the walls. Damp smell throughout the room. Stains on the headboards and chairs. Television didn’t work. Very dates. Scaffolding outside the window. Absolute cheek to charge £100 for 1 night

Stayed for one night, on 7th floor only one lift working that only took 2 people. Air con made no difference to room temperature. Shower was a dribble of water - unable to wash hair as no pressure. Room and bathroom were a good size clean but very tired looking.

Hotel appearance is good, reception staff very nice and friendly. Our room and bathroom was clean and the bed very comfortable. I had an excellent sleep. The colours it's decorated in were nice and love the Welsh red theme. Only thing I'd like to point out is the double bed was two singles pushed together and his mattress was higher than mine.

- my reservation via Expedia was a surprise to the hotel who had no record of it. But the staff were very helpful. - My initial room was of poor quality with a broke. Sofa and TV and not clean. But when I went to reception they were quick to give me an alternative room immediately. This was much better quality and cleanliness.

We have stayed at The Dragon many times. On checking in we were recognised by the receptionist which was very nice. We were given an upgrade to a lovely room with a separate lounge area. As we were quite tired from our last few days, this was lovely - we chilled out and watched a film with a few drinks. Lovely hotel, room, staff and breakfast. It is normally our first choice when wanting to be in Swansea City Centre.

Don’t let the outside deter you, it’s a great hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It’s very centrally located with museums and the beachfront within a close walk. I would stay here again if I return to Swansea. I travel by train and it was well located for the train station.

Great place to stay convenient to transport, shopping, venues. Room was clean and comfortable, the staff very helpful and friendly. Parking on site but is chargeable. Didn't have breakfast.

Lovely stay for one night. Would have appreciated two pillows. Clean room and bathroom. Great sleep, not noisy at all. The most wonderful smiley welcome for breakfast in the piano room. The lady was very helpful and busy replenishing items. That lady deserves a pay rise for all her hard work.

This hotel has 5 star staff but 2 star facilities. The reception looks good when you arrive. However - when you get to the rooms , they are substandard old and dated. The shower wafer did not even achieve the standard temperature. Breakfast was horrible. Cheep food the tasted nasty. There were so many signs that the owners do not spend any money on maintenance or providing a good service. The last point I found funny. They play Spotify music over breakfast - but even this is the free version of Spotify with adverts. Oh and parking is a cramped bin yard. Honestly - best avoided

Great location for what we wanted, in the middle of Swansea. The hotel looks like it used to be really nice, but they're now just doing enough to keep it ticking over. Room was OK. Bit tired (underlay under the carpet has either broken down or been removed, couldn't turn all the lights on as one of the transformers was making a worrying buzzing noise), but clean enough, it didn't cost the earth, the staff were friendly and we were only there for 1 night. Previous reviews I read from around Nov '23 said 1 of the 2 lifts wasn't working. This is still the case. For what it was, I think we overpaid at £100 a night. However, breakfast was another story. Save your money and go to McDonald's. Overcooked bacon, very cheap tasting sausages, hash browns and beans had clearly been sitting there for ages, no scrabbled egg, 1 fried egg and when asked for more was told that someone had just gone to the shops to get more, and the mushrooms tasted odd. The fresh fruit selection was 4 apples that appeared well past their best. The pastry selection was 6 mini pastries, that didn't get replenished the whole time we were there (my party took 4 of the 6). The cheese selection was packets of these that were 1 step up from cheese strings. Coffee machines weren't working, with the hot water they had there running out and not topped up. This was by far the worst breakfast I've ever had in a hotel.

The worst view I’ve ever had from a room window 316. Toilet was difficult to flush. Loud scraping noise during night sounded like a bed overhead being moved or it could have been noise from lift! Breakfast hot food was dried up no option to have any fresh cooked eggs but after complaining the coffee machine wasn’t working one of the waiters kindly got me one.

Only one lift working and we were on top floor. Broken glass in corridor window. Very tired decor, quite damaged and not overly clean. Breakfast was awful - coffee machine not working so no option of hot drinks. No fruit, no pastries, toaster took ages to toast bread. All very poor. No information about breakfast times given on check in and no information books available in room - website stated breakfast was served until 10:30am but it closed at 9:30am. Hotel needs urgent refurbishment. Only good thing about hotel was location — very central with parking available that cost an extra £9. Wouldn’t stay again 😞
