Nice hotel but the rooms are a little dated. The restaurant is ok, won’t let you go for drinks only even as a resident. Has a lovely view of Bergamo from their restaurant but you need to have a meal and deal with the pretentiousness.

Hotel San Marco deserves its excellent rating. Reception staff very efficient, and very accommodating when family visited one evening. Room was very clean and spacious, a kettle was provided with coffee and tea, bathrobes, toiletries and slippers were available. The balcony overlooked a local park. Breakfasts were excellent. A huge variety of cereals, cold and cooked choices and delicious cakes pastries and fresh fruits, and hot and cold drinks were available. We really appreciated the huge fridge containing yoghurts milks etc. A very busy breakfast room was very efficiently served by friendly and approachable staff. Outdoor tables looked up to the Citta Alta. The rooftop restaurant served a good selection of choices, beautifully presented by discrete and well trained staff. Views to the illuminated Citta Alta were breathtaking. The hotel is conveniently situated for local bus services to Citta Alta, the train station, and the airport bus stops right opposite the hotel. We would certainly recommend this hotel!

This hotel is well located about 10 minutes from the train station and near to the funicular for the citta alta. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The room itself was very clean and comfortable with good air conditioning which was an absolute requirement given the heat outside. The buffet breakfast is amazing with so much choice. We had a meal in their roof garden restaurant. Expect to pay more than outside the hotel but the food was amazing and the staff very kind and attentive. We highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Bergamo.

Very average hotel. It might have been good 30 years ago but it is in desperate need of renovation. Everything is old, tired and not very comfortable. Breakfast is average. Overnight parking 25 euros!

The hotel is very old and the room we had was also old and really needs renovation. The room was unfortunately also not super clean, we had some hair in the bathroom. The location is excellent, you can go by foot to both upper and lower town. Service at the reception and outside at the parking was excellent but the guys in the breakfast room were sometimes ignoring us, making comments and laughing when we ordered...very uncomfortable and not professional. Breakfast was good, with a lot of options. Parking is available, either outside or inside (different prices). If you opt for the indoors parking, keep in mind it's valet and you cannot just go to your car if you forget something.

Even though this is a 4 star hotel, my room was more 2 star. The bed was very comfortable, and clean, and bathroom was clean. But the condition of the decor was bad. It really needs an update. I had to put the kettle on the floor as there wasn’t a plug near the desk. Certain areas were dusty as though it hadn’t been used in a while. But I had international news channels on the TV which was good. Breakfast was excellent.

Great room- daily cleaning was exceptional. I was in town for work and this was my first of many trips I hope to charming beautiful Bergamo. I adored the location. They spoiled me with a balcony room and I didn't want to check out. Breakfast and staff were so friendly and accomodating. Can't wait for my next trip back-

We were on 7th floor with the roof terrace above and every evening approx 11pm there was very noisy furniture being moved/drawers slamming. The walls in the room have no sound proofing and our neighbours were extremely loud. Suffice to say not much sleeping was enjoyed due to the noise.

Hotel was situated in ideal location for access to both the old and new town. Quiet and clean. Staff provided excellent service. Breakfast was included and had lots of options to choose from. Stayed in older part of hote and wished we wd have upgraded to renovated room as shower bery small.

We were lucky enough to get the renovated rooms at the San Marco. The room is modern and comfortable. We had a great view of the Citta Alta as well which was a nice perk. Make sure you the renovated rooms when you stay here as the difference between these and the older original rooms is night and day.

Das Hotel liegt in der unteren Stadt, zwischen dem Bahnhof und der Bahn in die obere Stadt. Super! Sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal. Möglich im 8. Stock das Restaurant und die wunderbare Aussicht zu genießen. Zimmer groß, Bett bequem, Bad renoviert und sauber. Ruhig. Sehr gutes Frühstück,mit viel Auswahl an Speisen. Warum nur 4 Sterne. Eigentlich war alles super, bis ich schlafen gegen wollte... Über der Eingangstür gibt es ein grelles, grünes Lämpchen, was das ganze Zimmer in komisches grünes Licht hüllt. Es kann leider nicht ausgeschaltet werden, kein Schalter gefunden und zum Bedecken war es zu hoch. Die Rollladen haben das Zimmer zwar schön verdunkelt, aber mit diesen Licht war alles zunichte... ich habe sehr schlecht geschlafen... tut mir leid.

Did the job. Especially liked the location, left luggage facility, and the fact that even though our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, they took our luggage and delivered it to our room whilst we went hiking, so that when we returned it was already in there

The hotel appeared a bit old from the exterior but our room was actually in an upgraded area of the hotel and was quite comfortable. We even had a view of the old city centre on the hill. The location is fabulous as it's close to the funicular to the old town as well as being close to the city centre and the train station. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was nice. Overall, great stay!

Room was clean and modern but balcony was off the bathroom which seemed odd. The cups and glasses were not cleaned when the room was cleaned. When we needed a 3 seat table for breakfast we were told we can arrange them how we like, no assistance offered. They ran out of plain croissants both days of our stay. Room was ready early on check in and staff were nice, location is good. Restaurant views beautiful but very expensive menu
