The bed was comfy. The breakfast was yummy. And there was even a small koi pond out front. The Cons: after it rained, the pool was very cloudy. Like it needed chemicals in it. And after you got off the elevator to the 3rd floor, there was a weird smell. You couldn't smell it in the room or even downstairs. Just in the 3rd floor hallway. I would stay here again.

No water. Waterline was broken. No backup for bathroom usage and after driving all day was looking forward to a hot shower. Also side door entrance not working - had to carry baggage all the way to front to get to the room. Everything else was perfect. The room was clean and it smelled good.

Never finished getting room ready. Checked in 330. No towels, toilet paper, remote, shampoo. Lobby, breakfast area, 3rd floor hall no A/C. Good breakfast, no eggs first day. You get what you pay for. Room had not been vacuumed.

The entire 2nd floor reeked of fried fish! The smell was so bad that it lender into the hotel rooms. Therefore, the towels, the beds your items smell like fried fish. Now I love fried fish but there must have been some HEAVY duity cooking going on in that hall ways in order. When I asked the front desk about the smell, she chuckled and said, what I’m suppose to do we just opened all the windows in the hotel.

We had reservations here and called for 2 hours before arrival and no one ever answered. Contacted EXPEDIA and they attempted to call and no one answered. Arrived and the area was unsafe - people congregating in the parking lot smoking pot and unkempt people sleeping in lobby. No one ever came to the desk. Contacted EXPEDIA re: new reservation and REFUND. EXPEDIA stated 3 days later that hotel refused refund. I doubt EXPEDIA ever reached a person. Dissapponted with EXPEDIA as they have been helpful in the past. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO STAY HERE.

Staff was super sweet, breakfast buffet a lot more options than most places. Beds comfortable, floors could be cleaner in bedroom/bathroom for sure but other than that, A/C ran cold, air quality was good, food was good for a free hot breakfast, nice stay the kids liked the koi pond outside and the waffles too

Bathroom was clean. However the shower needs to be replaced. The bottom slopes downward toward the middle on both sides and all 3 of us in this room almost fell while showering. Also, the bath and hand towels had a sour smell. We had to ask for sheets, blanket for sofa sleeper. The blanket had a musty smell. The sofa sleeper couch was dirty, and when we opened it up the mattress had springs sticking out and had rust spots all over it. The room is very old looking, in desperate need of an up grade. On a whole the hotel smelt like people oke weed in it alot.

Okay for the price. This place is need for a renovation sooner than later. It is outdated and in need of a face lift. The drain in my tub did not drain properly. There were rain/moisture spots on the ceiling. Other than that the room was clean for the most part (chair was not). The service was nice and friendly. If you are sensitive to smoke look elsewhere as there was a smell of smoke in the hallways. This place is fine if you are on a budget otherwise I would choose another location. This hotel is close to downtown Birmingham and Hoover. Otherwise, there is not much in the immediate area and Bessemer is not the most hospitable area in the metro.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, although our room was a little unkept. There was dried blood on the floor, not sure what from. That was concerning. Our room was on the bottom floor and we could not close the blinds, which made us feel very uncomfortable.

The room was ok! The room exterior door did not fit well, very hard to open and close, large gap where light shows from hallway. The tv was going bad hard to see at times. But breakfast was very nice, very friendly staff.

Probably one of the worst Best Westerns I have ever stayed at. My family of four rented a king suite With pull out sofa bed. #1 there was no bed covering for the pullout couch. Had had to ask and they only had two fitted sheet . Front desk said she would have to ask a manager about getting a cover. I also asked for two pillows because there were no extras in their room. The manager told me that they don't provide Extra pillows. Even after explaining that we booked a room for four adults,,( in our case, )it was two adults, two children. After having to ask again She finally allowed us to have two more pills for my children. And she stated that it was best western policy I know this not to be true because we've never had a hard time getting extra bed covering. #2 The room was in desperate need of a makeover Had sheet rock mud visible throughout the ceiling. Had tiny little holes all throughout the ceiling. #3 There were people outside the doorway of the entrance(side entrance) smoking pot and you could smell it throughout the hallway. And nothing was done about it.

Absolutely outstanding stay! LaToya simply IS customer service. You won't find a better attitude in any industry doing any job! If she is there....you WILL have an excellent stay. The only thing that comes close to being as good as she is...is the breakfast that Michelle serves up from the kitchen. BEST BREAKFAST I have ever had at any hotel. If you are passing through the Bessemer area, just stop here and rest a night. You won't be disappointed.

Staff was not professional. The woman who checked me in was talking to her son on the phone the whole time she was checking me in. Bathroom had old toothpaste in the sink. It had obviously not been cleaned. The toilet was broken. Couldn’t even use it. Breakfast was awful. They were out of virtually everything. We got tired of waiting for someone to replenish the food and ended up leaving and going to McDonald’s. Probably the worst motel I’ve ever stayed at.

We had reservations here and called for 2 hours before arrival and no one ever answered. Contacted EXPEDIA and they attempted to call and no one answered. Arrived and the area was unsafe - people congregating in the parking lot smoking pot and unkempt people sleeping in lobby. No one ever came to the desk. Staff was poorly trained. Needed toilet paper for my room. Clerk stated they were out. Then got back on her cell phone. Told her, " Sir, I apologize we are out of toilet paper" would be a better response. She said no they don't pay me enough for that. The clerk was constantly on her phone. Went early the next morning, another clerk said that person simply did not want to move, plenty was in storage. I said ok, I got rolls from the rr on the 1st floor. I stayed for 3 nights, same clerk enjoyed her phone time with her friends. Well enough said, my stay was not, good.

Okay for the price. This place is need for a renovation sooner than later. It is outdated and in need of a face lift. The drain in my tub did not drain properly. There were rain/moisture spots on the ceiling. Other than that the room was clean for the most part (chair was not). The service was nice and friendly. If you are sensitive to smoke look elsewhere as there was a smell of smoke in the hallways. This place is fine if you are on a budget otherwise I would choose another location. This hotel is close to downtown Birmingham and Hoover. Otherwise, there is not much in the immediate area and Bessemer is not the most hospitable area in the metro.

You can make larger waffles or mini ones for the kids. Staff is friendly and helpful. Applebee's and Cracker Barrel are just across the road...easy short walk. Convenient to I-20 too.

Staff was not professional. The woman who checked me in was talking to her son on the phone the whole time she was checking me in. Bathroom had old toothpaste in the sink. It had obviously not been cleaned. The toilet was broken. Couldn’t even use it. Breakfast was awful. They were out of virtually everything. We got tired of waiting for someone to replenish the food and ended up leaving and going to McDonald’s. Probably the worst motel I’ve ever stayed at.

Clean! The hot water was actually hot. Plenty of towels, and pillows. Coffee pot in room. And breakfast was fantastic. Not just grab and go, but hit eggs, and sausage. Very worth the price!

Friendliest staff I have ever encountered. Thorough in explaining what the hotel had to offer, including complimentary cold and room temp bottles of water as well as a delicious continental breakfast. Waffle bar was delicious, as were the sausage, Greek yogurt, scrambled eggs with cheese, and fancy juice and coffee machines. Room was lacking a few wash rags that were not available upon request. Otherwise, we had a great stay.

We booked this room, showed up and were told that we had been over booked. The only room available was a room with a broken door. The front desk clerk said hotels.com/expedia should have contacted me. They hadn’t. I only had an email asking how check-in went when I hadn’t even checked in. I had to spend 45 minutes on the phone with Expedia trying to figure out what was going on. This was really frustrating after 9pm with food and two cranky kids in the car. I don’t know where the miscommunication happened, if it was the hotel not telling the site or the site not reaching out to me. Either way, bad experience.
