The room was standard and beds were comfortable; however, the pool was dirty and the hot tub was cold and had debris floating in the water. The day shift front desk lady was wonderful, which was the polar opposite of the evening before desk person.

If there was a phrase to sum up the stay at this hotel it would be “out of action” or “out of service”. Swimming pool - heater broken / out of service Hot tub - heater broken / out of service Gym treadmill - broken / out of service Ice machine - broken / out of service Room key cards - broke or stopped working after the first try, required a rekey. Rooms were supposed to be connected but that wasn’t an option for whatever reason, resulting in our family being split between different ends of the floor. Checkin took a while due to lots of people all arriving at the same time. There was a “permanent resident” that was talkative and friendly and hanging out in the lobby all night and the next morning…wasn’t sure if the person was an escort or a madame or just super friendly.

The room was clean and comfortable. Parking was good and safe. Breakfast was good but the pancake machine was broke. Ice was not available on all floors. Some of the external doors were locked. One elevator was not working.

The pool and hot tub was not "closed" but should have been! Dirty, gross! Public restroom closed, broken...fire alarm for no reason, ice machine on our floor broke, pancake machine broken, NEVER had this kind of problems at IHG, oh and when we arrived in room there was a bad odor , window open and an ozone machine running!?! We left it going and window open,we both had headaches when we woke up! Should have reported to front desk and found out what the order was but didn't!

Room is pretty depressing. Bathroom tiles cracked and the bathroom walls are poorly finished. Food on ceiling by microwave. Body wash bottle in the shower was empty when I tried to shower. Pillows are hard. There are bright lights outside the window and the blinds are too small to completely cover the window, so you can’t make the room dark to go to sleep. Hot tub is broken and they “don’t expect it to be fixed anytime soon.”

The room and staff were great. The pool and spa need some work. Pool was green and murky. The spa was cold and when asked we were told the heater is broken. Many families wanting to use the pool but couldn’t because of the condition of the water.

Disgusting pool. I sat at the ledge of pool with my kids and a cockroach ran past me! So gross the water was disgusting and sketchy people at the pool. The room was decent. Never will stay at this hotel brand ever again.

Front desk people were nice, welcoming. Didn't like cockroach in the closet of our room. The bathroom needs scrubbing, the caulking is moldy and the fan was not functioning in the bathroom. TV remote didn't work right (we did get it switched but still couldn't use the HDMI function on the TV). Dining room chairs, while functional, have definitely seen better days. The vinyl is cracking and little pieces are falling off.

Location was good. Property seemed old. Our bathtub was permanently stained and there was mold/mildew in the caulking around the tub. Cracked tiles on the bathroom floor. Crusted on food or something on the office chair in the room. Bundles of cords just hanging near the wall by the floor. Everything just seemed kind of old and grungy.

Check in was fast and easy. The carpets throughout hotel were really filthy, hallway and room were very dark. In the room itself the furnishings were ok, carpet also very dirty. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. I loved the use of the Dove soap/shampoo in room. If carpet was clean I could have liked hotel. We had the breakfast there twice. First morning at 0800 they had no food restocked-no rolls, reg. Coffee, eggs, yogurt, ect. We couldn’t see anyone to ask, and had somewhere to be, so we went without. Second morning at 0900 everything was well stocked and a worker was cleaning up around. I think with new carpets, better lighting, and coat of light color paint it would be very good.

Everything about this place was great!! The room was huge, especially for the price, and we didn't get to use it, but it even had a jet tub!! Room was very clean, too, and the continental breakfast was decent, but free breakfast is free breakfast!! They also had all the amenities you could possibly need and more down at the concierge, if you need it! Definitely will be staying again in the future and would most definitely recommend!!

Great customer service. Room was clean. A issue was the door didn’t shut completely. When the room was remodeled, the door should have been replaced. We had to push the door up and close it with the locks. The other issue was the refrigerator froze my food items instead of keeping it at 37 deg temp as it was set to. I told the front desk upon check out.

The hotel was very dated, the pictures that I saw did not paint an accurate picture. But I will say that the only part of the room that was modernized in the last 5 years was the most important part and that was the bed. It was basically what I expected from a holiday inn. The bathroom was very dated and showing its age. The worst part is that the toilet was clogged with paper and not sure how the janitors missed that when they serviced the room after the last person stayed there. All in all it was cheap and comfortable enough. Hope I don’t have to stay in Barstow again anytime soon.

Front desk person, Fee, is very unwelcoming. As the face of a hotel/hospitality business, one expect friendly and helpful front desk. I came in early to try to see if I can do an early check in. There was no person in the front desk to ask. Then she came out with a borderline rude demeanor when I asked politely if I can do an early check in; she’s like, “no, I’m still checking out, come back after 3”. Came the check in time, I checked in. No greetings, no please or thank you from her. Very disappointed.

When I reached the hotel, front desk lady said my room is not available after 30 mins of waiting for check-in. Their system was showing ~13 rooms available but there were guests in each of those rooms. They cancelled my reservation and I had to find another hotel at almost double the price at the middle of night! Almost all the guests who were waiting didn't get the room that night. Terrible experience!

The "supervisor" called me just before check in to say that my room was unavailable, and they did not have any other rooms available in the whole hotel. I booked the room days in advance, and yet a friend of mine was able to walk in the same day and reserve a room on the spot, just hours before me getting a call that my reservation had to be cancelled and no other rooms were available. The supervisor then hung up on me after saying that they didnt need to hear me complain about the terrible service. Guess thats just the norm for them!

Great location near the outlet mall. Far enough off the freeway so there was not any freeway noise. Breakfast above par. Parking was easy. The hotel is clean and modern, WiFi worked great. Would we stay again? Well, our first stay was Tuesday while passing through. We are now spending Saturday night while heading home.

We stayed here as a stopping point for a long drive. I was reluctant to stay in Barstow because past experience was on a short strip of Main St and there were some shady characters there. Lenwood area is newer and built up from a few years ago. Things are newer and clean. Felt very safe and didn't worry about the car either.

We were traveling through Barstow and the Holiday Inn Express was the perfect place for our stay. Everything looked brand-new, everything was clean, it was in a safe area, the breakfast was pretty good and they allowed my daughter's dog to stay there for an additional fee. There were lots of dining options nearby. Great place to stay in a more remote area.

This property needs renovation. We didn’t have hot water for shower at night or morning (front desk said they were at occupancy limit and it would take an hour to maybe get hot!). The rooms are old, bathrooms need renovation, beds were not comfortable. Staff were friendly but breakfast lines were terribly long and they didn’t even have potatoes, waffle maker was broken and pastries were super slow to come out.

Hotel was ok, water in elevator and almost fell, room was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast was horrible! Milk was rancid, eggs were crap, sausage was hockey pucks, and when I tried the pancake maker and nothing but burnt stuff came out.... Disgusting... But service was friendly
