Little Inn By The Bay Newport Beach Hotel

It was a quick walk to the beach and they did allow me to leave my truck in the parking lot for about an hour after checkout while I grabbed breakfast with my family. However I didn’t like that they charged me for parking because I booked through Expedia. They didn’t mention anything about it until I was checked in and had paid. They told me after the fact that it was $15.00 a day to park. It was also very noisy at night…between the bum on the corner yelling all night (who also used the planter behind my parking spot as a toilet), the liquor store next door and people racing up and down the street with their loud exhausts, I can see how some wouldn’t like staying here. Myself however, I was exhausted and fell right asleep.

Still awaiting to get a security deposit back. Was Okay stay

Amazing location, and young front desk worker was very kind and helpful. He offered to help open a bottle of wine that I had. Only drawback was some ants in the room and the fact they charge 15$ for parking and then say they will tow you if you do not move your car after check-out.

They did not advise up front but they charge you for parking and they DID NOT disclose that even when I asked

Very old Inn but well kept up. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the A/C works great, the water was very hot, and the water pressure was really good. All the requirements for a night away!!! It could use a little exterior paint and curb appeal… The new $15 parking fee per night was not cool though!! It wasn’t mentioned anywhere in advance…

No one was available to check out and they texted to just leave the key on the desk. If you say that the hotel is open 24/7 there better be a person to handle check out especially when you demand a $200 additional deposit.

It was nice just know when you book your room the hotel charges another 20.00 per night parking on top of what hotels.com price is and a 200.00 refundable deposit

This is a great hotel with an amazing location. There is no pool or hot tub, but it is within walking distance from the beach, shops and numerous food/beverage establishments. It is right across from the fire station, so be aware of the noise there.

The location is very good and the room was nice. The staff was 'cold', in my opinion...not very welcoming. My biggest problem was what I consider 'bail and switch' with the parking charges. The website said 'free parking' but was charged $15 per day because, what they said, is because I booked thru Expedia and not direct!!!! This is something Expedia should handle!!!! It should not be more expensive to book thru them!!!

I tried going 4 different times to the reception desk and no one was there. There was a power outage so we were left with no power for 6 hours ! What upset me was that the pizza place we wanted to order told us the power was going out before it happened which means the hotel had to have known as well and didnt tell anyone. There was dust in the rooms. I barely fit inside the shower .

Great location. AC never worked. Old room and needed a deep cleaning.

The property was over priced for comparable places. There was no soap in the shower dispenser even after having room refreshed. The bath fan didn’t work and there was what appeared to be black mold on the ceiling in the bedroom area. Tiny room!!! Very disappointed!! Would not recommend!!

No one at the front desk when I arrived. Waited 10 minutes to check in. The toilet ran off and on all night. Woke up to ants all over the bathroom sink.

If you're looking for a nice affordable room just a block away from the beach and a short walk to Newport Pier - this is it! The staff was friendly, the room was clean and nicely updated. I will definitely be staying here again.

Horror Hotel. Wouldn’t even consider it a hotel. We arrived in the evening around 8pm on check in day. The lady at the front was short, rude, and had no interest in us. She put us in room 1. The room itself was dull, had a moldy odor, and honestly I felt dirty in there. We slept there that night, and went about our day. Got back to the room around 7pm and come to find little cockroaches on the walls and floor in the bathroom. We were appalled and disgusted. We started to look through our things and the room itself. Come to find a dead roach in our bed, roach legs hidden in the sheets. As well as live roaches crawling through the bed sheets. I called the front desk 3 times and no answer even though the office hours were open during this time. By 9oclock after packing all our things. Went to the front desk and still no one was there, the office doors was open and no one came to the desk. Whatever you do, don’t stay here, it’s disgusting, unsanitary and the staff is rude.

The room was very dirty & had ants all over. The door to bathroom was broken and the room overall looked like it needed some serious updating. Very run down, would not recommend.

Our room was nice. The onsite parking was great. We could hear other guests above and beside us through the walls. The noise from the street was loud at times.

It was very noisy at night very hard for me to sleep. Heard everything outside. Air condition wasn’t working very properly in room number 11.

The AC did not work nor did the tv.

This place is all about location. You can walk to all the best Newport bars in minutes. We had a balcony room, highly recommend.

Cute little hotel. Rooms have been revamped. Loved the bathroom mirror! And the shower got super hot!! But the street noise was so loud he woke me up several times throughout the night. The outside hallway light shine right through the little glass window on my hotel room door. It was so bright it lit up the whole air room!

Our room was beside the road on the second floor. Windows have been upgraded in the past, however, they are inefficient. Street noise kept me from sleeping well, something that normally does not affect me. However, we were in an excellent location for the pier and abundant numbers of eateries. Staff was pleasant. Parking was available. I was able to access my YouTube account once and I remained connected. Maid service was prompt. King mattress was fatigued but somewhat okay.

The location of this hotel is what makes it all worth it! Easy 3 min walk to the beach and close walks to bars and restaurants. However, the walls are PAPER thin and you can hear absolutely everything. We stayed on the first floor and felt like we were staying underneath professional tap dancers from the second floor. So loud. Also, if you stay on the first floor there is no privacy so don’t even think about opening up your windows. I would stay here again but would choose second floor or even the ones with the cute patios.

Good central location. Noisy street if the window was open. AC didn't stay running, but the Fan on the unit was good enough for our trip.

Excellent location to the beach. Room was clean. My only complaint was the noise level at night due to traffic on both sides of the hotel.

Check in was at 3. We got there at about 2:40. No one at the desk. There was a bell and a number to text. I texted and rang but no response for awhile. Another client came in too. Finally gets text saying they will be there at 3. A little annoying but it all worked out. The other issue was a party in the room above ours making so much noise from about 1 until 3:30! We knew the desk wasn’t being attended so there was no point in calling. The rooms are nice and it’s a great location. Can’t do anything about the neighbors but is would be good to be able to contact the front desk.

Location was great! Hotel wasn’t bad- clean (no carpet which is a plus in my eyes). Bare minimum amenities (toiletries, towels,etc.). The noise didn’t bother me at all. STAFF IS TERRIBLE. When I arrived at 2:50ish (check in is at 3). There was a sign that no one is in and to text them. I texted them to let them know I was there to check in… never replied. Came back at 3:15 still no one.. called and they didn’t answer. Finally a girl came out at 3:30 and was so unfriendly. I wouldn’t have cared about them not being there but the fact that she was so unfriendly and rude made me more annoyed . She literally didn’t even say “hello”. She didn’t explain anything to me just asked for my ID and card and handed me my room key. She also announced my room number in front of the men in the lobby which I thought was inappropriate/not safe. Apparently they don’t stay on the property because when I called around 5 for something they didn’t answer. TV didn’t work.

Everything was good except the front desk staff was not nice. Every time we walk in to ask for something, she is not there.

The hotel has a wonderful, walk friendly location. We were unable to access the Wi-fi, and when we called and went to the front desk, no one was there to help. The TV didn't work, and again, called and visited the front desk, rang the bell several times, no one was there. I had to check out early, no one at the desk. A sign said to text for help. I texted, but no response for over an hour and by then I was already gone. So love the hotel, not the service so much.

I don’t even know where to begin to give a review. We arrived 2 hours early to inquire about early check-in and were denied. I requested to use the restroom and was told they did not have public restrooms. I explained to the lady we were checking into a prepaid room and she told us to go use the bathrooms on the beach. When we returned 2 hours later, lady at the reception was eating a peach and with her dirty fingers handed us our room keys. The accommodations were sub par . The noise from the street kept us up all night. The smell in the room, the refrigerator and the bathroom were awful. I had to spray Lysol when we first walked in since odor was so pungent. The smell inside the refrigerator was like somebody had vomited so we could not save any food in there and ended up throwing it out. The A/C unit was so loud it sounded like a tornado. When we checked out, there was a dead rat by our vehicle and when Front Desk was notified, they just shrugged. I would not advise anyone to stay at this place unless you do not mind the super loud noise from cars and loud motorcycles all night till about 3 am on Newport Ave and hearing drunk pedestrians walking by, loud talking, laughing, yelling all through the night. Worst place we have ever stayed at.

Alfredo was wonderful and very friendly. So was the cleaning staff. Loved the location with all the shopping and eateries literally a walk across the street. Very close to the beach. Overall, this was a great experience, we will be back to stay here!

Will stay again, not fancy but clean and very convenient to the beach. Expect it to be noisy on weekend nights because of many nearby bars and restaurants.

The only issues with this place is its location as it is right on the street and stays kinda noisy all night. It’s not terribly loud but you can hear it. Other than that it’s a pretty good place for the money.

This is an amazing location, within walking distance of so many restaurants and the beach. We were in town for a volleyball tournament and it was so nice not to have to fight for parking near the Newport Pier every day. Even after check-out, we were allowed to leave our car in the parking lot until mid-afternoon. Small rooms, but very comfortable and a really nice shower. I highly recommend if looking for a place to stay on the Newport Peninsula.

Rooms were very small for the price and the noise surrounding the area, made it hard for relaxation.
