Very nice hotel in the heart of SD. Area is not great. Very clean and comfortable. We did wake up to the smell of cigarette smoke in the night. Not the hotel’s fault. Parking is bad. 65$ for valet and no other choice but street parking.

Great nice property. Very clean , paid up for a larger room - I would suggest this as regular rooms are a little smaller and do not have mini frog or microwave. Elevators are an issue here - at least during my stay. Plan to wait a good while for what seemed as only one of 3 or 4 weee working. Also, valet is a bit pricey to add to the total tab at $54 a day. Nice place in renovated bank building. Starbucks inside.

Beautiful hotel with great restaurant and bar in the lobby area. Wonderful restoration of an historic landmark-- fun to stay in a piece of history. The parking can't be on site, so your choice is the very convenient or expensive valet service, or park in a garage about a block/ half block away.

Such a special and historic building! Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Loved the gym and the vault conference room!! Breakfast was a terrific deal. Pool table also fun. Perfect location. Used spotHero to find a great deal on an in/out parking close by.

Great location, right in the Gaslamp Quarter. The only form of parking is valet. The valet staff was nice and courteous. However, we were disappointed that they were unable to help us with our luggage as there were not enough bellman carts. This made our check-in process cumbersome and we ended up having to carry several heavy bags ourselves. Despite this issue, the rest of our stay was pleasant.

Front desk staff seemed uninterested. Hotel elevators and common areas were very scuffed/dirty. The room floor and walls were dirty. Glass and mirrors were dusty with streaks. Carpet had stains and what appeared to be feces embedded into certian parts of the carpet. The room also had a wet bar sink that made a loud, rhythmic popping sound the entire stay. We were not acknowledged as guests, let alone as vip guests. We did not received any vip benfits other than be charged $17 for two vottles of water that we had to walk down the the front desk ourselves to retrieve. For a point of reference, we booked their concierge level suite with a high floor city view... we were put in a crap room, on the 5th floor right next to the elevator (literally we could open our room door and see the elevators) The view from our room was of the mechanicals of the hotel.. not a good experience. Avoid this hotel. It's such a shame.. a historic luxury hotel like this should never be allowed to fall into such disrepair.

Hotel was beautiful and in a good location but the hotel doesn't have parking and they will charge you $65 each night for valet parking! This is too high and we didn't expect that. In the hallway in 4th floor (where we had room) we saw a dead cockroach! and some hair in our towels and in bath top and around sink. In general cleanliness was not too bad. but I don't think I would come back again.

Clean hotel. Nice rooms. It’s in a historic building. Walkable to Gaslamp and Padre stadium. We had a great time. Understanding and friendly desk staff. Would stay here again.

Customer service was okay. The valet people were great. Valet was 65$ a night with no really close options for parking. All of downtown is expensive. The homeless are everywhere screaming on the streets. Our window was covered and we could not see out or get much daylight. We complained and they could not move us. On our second night there our tv randomly stopped working at 9:30 pm. A service person came and we had to be moved rooms. We were then moved to a bigger room with a window that you could see the city view. It was a little insulting that the room was sitting empty when had asked for another when we just checked in.

The overall hotel was ok. The bed and sofa bed along with pillows were horrific. We couldn’t get a nights of sleep because of the constant tossing and turning. The beds were so springy that you feel like you’re lying on top of metal springs. Pillows had no supports….was a restless night

For a Marriott hotel I expected a more updated room. I was disappointed as the bathroom was outdated, the sink was clogged, and the whole room smelled musty. The beds were pretty comfortable, the sheets and covers cleaned. The noise of the downtown city was non existent, maybe because we stayed on 6th floor. The room was large enough with the usual accommodations. The front desk staff was very welcoming, I think her name was Deia, but the others barely said hello during our stay of 5 nights. The restaurant was ok, pricey, we ate there dinner just once during a storm. I actually ordered a Starbucks coffee there and I wasn’t impressed with the quality, better walk couple of blocks for a fresh one. The hotel is in a walking distance to the GasLamp district full of restaurants and bars. Little Italy is 15 min walk or 5 min Uber. As many other reviews mentioned the are is full of homeless people and I was afraid to go outside by myself, especially in the night. Some of them were constantly asking for money, and make you feel uncomfortable. Overall, I wasn’t impressed with that area, but it’s a good location if you consider taking a bus or trolley to the places you want to visit like Balboa Park.

My 2 friends and I loved staying here. The hotel is beautiful and is right in the middle of everything in Gaslamp. The only thing I will say is the my hotel room did not have a bathroom door & my 2 guests and I were very uncomfortable having to share a bathroom like that. We also got woken up by security at 3:30am claiming we had a noise complaint when we were already asleep but the security guard kept claiming it was us. That was incredibly rude & inappropriately from the securities part. Besides that the staff at valet & check in made everything incredibly smooth & easy.

I stayed Saturday to Thursday. I asked twice to have my room cleaned and only when I saw a maid on my floor and then asked her to clean the room she did on Wednesday the day before I checked out. Refrigerator in room was not working which they replaced on day two or three. During my visit, before the maid finally cleaned, I had to make three calls -- one for towels, one for toilet tissue and a third for decafe coffee. When I realized the refridgerator was not working I went to the ice machine for ice and that wasn't working either. For the amount of money I was paying, all of these things should have been in order.

The staff was very friendly. The housekeeper elena or lenna was amazing. She was so pleasant and helpful. We got everything we needed. The valets were timely and professional. Check in was easy. Good stay.

First time staying at this property. Loved everything about this historical building. The rooms are very quiet. The staff is wonderful. Alexa, Max, and Veronica were all so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. Will be back next time we are in San Diego.

Downtown Gaslamp, location is great for walking to restaurants, Petco Park, waterfront. A little sketchy in this area but nothing I wasn’t used to. Tony at the front desk is an all-star! Nick at the bar needs to find a different employer, worst attitude I’ve ever experienced within a hotel! My party of 6 and I left the hotel bar and took our business down the street! He needs to be checked! Won’t return so long as he is employed there

Check in was great. Michael was enthusiastic and gave numerous, great, recommendations to events in the area. Our room smelled like BO initially. We asked the cleaning staff on our hall to help with that and they did apply some level of spray. It helped but didn't eliminate the odor. The next morning we asked the front desk(I believe Brittany) to help. While we were out there was another attempt at helping the smell. They also offered a new room if the issue wasn't resolved as they might have to deep clean the room. In the end, the smell came back the day of our checkout. BUT between Michael and the rest of the staffs attentiveness and friendliness we genuinely enjoyed our stay.

Parking is $65 valet only which is fine but we even called to let them know we would be down and it took way over 20 minutes, first host was not nice no customer service skills he gave us a room on the 10th floor seemed as if no one has cleaned that room in weeks it was dusty and full of fingerprints all over the table and door. Requested a room change by second clerk he was nice and accommodating second room was allot cleaner.

This hotel is lovely and historic, but it is right on the edge of very sketchy areas. Lots of vacant properties around, lots of people living on the street. It didn't feel great to leave the hotel on foot in the evening. (And I'm a big city person.) Lots of trash/urine along the block. Valet parking staff was fantastic, BUT, the only access is on a one-way street that frequently involved multiple-block detours to wind up in the right spot. (Even the LYFT driver had a hard time the one time we opted for that instead of driving.) Ultimately, once you're inside it's quite nice, but the location is not great.

The breakfast was very good! Food good, service excellent. The location in the Gaslight District we didn't particularly like. Very few restaurants nearby that we would consider eating in, quite a few homeless on the streets, quite a few businesses closed.

BEWARE…..Not the hotels fault but the Cities. There are homeless people ALL over the downtown area. Saw one man bent over, pants pulled down, urinating right in front of me as we were walking down the sidewalk. The hotel is clean and safe just the downtown is not safe to walk around alone especially after dark.

This property is gorgeous! The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a voucher for breakfast both days we stayed which was nice. The food was good and so was the service. This hotel is close to so many great restaurants, comedy clubs and the Shout House. We were able to park our car and walk to all of the local venues we wanted to visit on our stay which made for a very relaxing weekend. I will definitely be back & I will stay here again!

The property is in the old bank and lots of history here. Bar and restaurant were good for the food Id tried. The only downside I wittiness is the Homeless that are in the business district which seem to be a problem in San Diego no matter where I went. Overall good stay and you just have to step around the folks on the street.

So everything was nice expect the fact that I order room service breakfast and that included a fresh squeezed orange juice. This was not fresh squeezed at all it smelled like Minute Maid commercial orange juice.
