Pacific Shores Inn

I had a very disappointing stay. My upgraded room with partial ocean view had an inoperative air conditioner so I had to be downgraded to get air. No view no patio. Sliding door didn’t open, no bathroom floor mat and no soap. The location is handy to the beach and there is free parking but otherwise marginal.

Great location loved all the amenities especially the heated pool! We are already planning a return trip!

Our room was excellent, you can tell there was recent paint and upkeep. The pool while a bit dated was a favorite for us. We walked everywhere! So close to the beach and many shops and restaurants. Great place for the price!

I have been coming to Pacific Shores for several years. This is the first time the rating has been a 3. The pool was closed the entire time I was there. They were fixing someting that required a jack hammer that was used ALL day. This did not allow for relaxing in the room. I was unable to sign on to wi fi and attempted to trouble shoot by calling the number provided. After a 10 minute wait I was disconnected and the issue was not resolved. The microwave did not work well and the conditioner bottle was empty in the shower. I have not booked for next year.

Don’t recommend. No parking, building is very old and room is dirty.

Great location. Good parking. Nice sea view on south rooms Internet poor - often drops out or can’t connect Hot water sometimes takes 10 minutes to run warm. Room heating didn’t work. But overall would stay here again if we visit SD again. Spent 13 nights so have balanced Observations.

Pros- Large, clean, comfortable room. Cons- The outside stairs and hallways need repairs and painting. Outside is not attractive, and narrow parking slots.

Like proximity to beach, shops and restaurants. Check in staff were nice. Did not like they did not restock and clean room They did not stop people from smoking. We had people smoking weed next to us the whole time. Could not sit on patio bc it stunk. Moisture with doors slamming and car alarms going off and patio furniture scraping late into the night. Beds not comfortable with gross Bally dirty blanket. Pool looked prison like, not enticing at all. It looked like where sea world keeps orcas when not performing. Awful! We noticed Pacific Terrace hotel had a super cute pool. That is how to do it. Dated hotel. Expensive for what we got. Pics look much nicer. Won’t stay again.

The property manager was very helpful to give us a lower room when my husband had difficulty climbing the stairs to the second level. Great location and also free parking spot with room number, so no worries about not having a place for our vehicle close to our room!

Amazing location.. 50 steps to the beach. Everything you need is within walking distance. My only complaint was the limited parking.

I loved the location and how convenient it was for us to do things around the hotel! I’ve stayed here before and loved it, but this time I was a little disappointed because when we first checked in, the bathroom smelt like mildew and the towels were stinky and wet. They smelt like they weren’t clean and weren’t dried completely. The staff was very friendly and nice, the only complaint was the cleanliness.

The room appeared to be clean but it had an odd smell and when we woke up we noticed bugs in the bed. We were told they were possibly termites becuz of the dampness and that they couldn’t give us a refund or discount becuz the charge already went thru. There was no where to hang clothes becuz the closet was made into a place for the coffee maker. At first sight, it was a cute boutique hotel but we probably wouldn’t stay there again.

The pictures on the website are deceiving, the property does not look that nice. When i arrived, i thought i was in a low income apartment building. Building needs exterior paint, stairs to second floor need paint an cleaning. The upstairs walkway needs new flooring. One of the two bed mattresses was stained. The room walls need cleaning and a good wipe down. The doors are dirty, need to wipe down. The sofa chair was dirty and stained. The carpet was dirty. The room smelled like dog urine. Very disappointing.

The room was nice and clean. The beds were very comfortable. However, there was a strange smell in the bathroom (I had to keep the bathroom window open the whole time we were there). Turned out there was mold inside the overflow hole in the sink). The property does need some TLC on the outside, but it is within walking distance from the beach which was great.

My room was really a great size ! Very clean ! Great area , close to ocean . Convenient to walk to many restaurants . Would definitely stay again

Cons: dirty carpet, no water in room for coffee machine, property maintenance, roaches, lock broken causing unsafe room. Had to change rooms 3 times.

While several other persons in our party had nice rooms at the PSI, ours was not. When I called to tell the front desk our room smelt like dog pee… I was informed by Marlene that the hotel is two stars. However…. Two stars or not the room should be clean. You could see through the door jam to the outside door, the bathroom door did not close and either mice or rats were pushing insulation out from under the sink. If your feet touched the carpet you had to wash them off due to the feeling on walking on carpet that had been urinated on. There was also some sort of shampoo bottle shoved down the drain that caused the sink to not be able to drain. Additionally the fridge did not work and there was never anyone around to get towels etc. as previously stated no one was willing to change us to a room with carpet that not been urinated on. When I emailed the contact stated on the website I was not responded to either. It would be a gamble to book a room here and there are several other nicer well kept motels even at 2 stars that are cleaned and maintained.

The property presents a straightforward, albeit problematic, situation. A significant concern is the presence of mold, evident on the ceiling and within the bathroom. Evidence suggests attempts to conceal the mold through painting in the bathroom. A request for an alternative room resulted in a similar issue, as the assigned room was adjacent to the initial space. The severity of the mold was such that its odor was pervasive when ventilation was limited. While the furnishings were of good quality, and renovations appeared to have been undertaken, inadequate ventilation and circulation appear to be exacerbating the mold issue. Despite the favorable location and staff, a return visit is not recommended due to the mold problem.

This is one of my favorite hotels on Pacific Beach! Rooms are always super clean and modern looking. Super convenient for walking if you’re wanting to get dinner, drinks or a coffee!

Second time staying at the Shores. First time I got a room by the pool. This time I got room 53, right across from the front desk and overlooking the main drag. Very noisy. Next time I will make it a point to request a room further from the street. Otherwise nice rooms and great location for my needs. Will probably keep coming back if the rates stay affordable… 😊

Our room was very basic. Everything was clean and bathroom fixtures were all new and nice. Our second floor room had high ceilings which made it feel roomier and the actual room was pretty spacious. It was entirely adequate for a weekend getaway. It is very close to the beach and boardwalk. Many dining options are within walking distance. There was a chair but basically no where for 2 people to sit but on the bed. The rooms with balconies or patios were nicer but my basic room was just under $300 per night and I didn’t price the others. There was a small fridge and tiny microwave as well as a coffee maker. Ideally I would have liked a heat lamp in the bathroom as it was chilly so near the ocean. A sink in the kitchen area would have been nice for making coffee. Gourmet coffee would have made me happier. The coffee was so weak it was practically just warm water. The coffee in the lobby may have been better. The bed and bedding was adequate but the pillows were flat. The proximity to the beach and walkable neighborhood made it a nice weekend. The basic room was fine for sleeping and showering but not a place to spend time. If I came back it would be to a better type room.

This is like a motel. Some guests are partiers that get back 3-4am and are noisy. Can hear guests upstairs through floor. Close to beach, room decently clean, TV small, property like a motel.

We stayed one night for a show in the area. It was a very spacious room with high ceilings, which added to the spacious feel. Everything was very clean and in good condition. The only thing was the blankets and sheets kind of felt like paper and one of the beds was a little wobbly when we sat on it, but didn’t affect our sleep. Would definitely stay again.

Great little spot right off the beach. Old school vibes but modern enough to not feel dated. Staff are all great!! The pool is nice as well.

Please tell the owner of this hotel to replace the mattresses. They were so old I could not sleep all night. Walls had no insulation as you could hear the neighbors as well.

Location was great. Very close to the beach and walking area. Love the ocean view. The high ceiling in our room made it appear much bigger. Room was very nice and clean. Would stay again.

The desk on my check-in was friendly. The lady worked to get me in earlier than usual. She told me the bathroom had just been cleaned. However when I returned from the beach to take a shower I discovered the towels were soiled and damp yet hung up as new. I called the desk that afternoon and they told me new towels were coming. They did not. I called that evening before closing and left a message. Nothing. The following day I took the towels down to the front desk. The attendant was not rude but also not polite. He asked me to dispose of the towels myself! I was able to get fresh ones then, and even then one towel had hair and stains. I have never experienced such a thing and have used this site for over a decade. It was unfortunate.

Check in was fine! The exterior of the property is very dated but the rooms inside have been redone. The only negative was peeling paint was on the doors. BUT the shock was that at 3AM another guest entered my room. He and an elderly man stated repeatedly that it was the young mans room! I showed them my key and they showed me theirs. They asked for my last name, and i stupidly gave it to them. They left. I couldnt sleep afterwards! So my stay was marred by the management sending someone e l se into my room!

The room was in great condition when we checked in. Check in time was accurate, even in the middle of the week they were very well staffed. Pacific beach was less than a 5 minute walk from my room. The parking structure was nice as well as we were able to park right outside of our door. I brought my service dog and she was treated with the utmost respect and friendliness. We stayed in a ground level room. Parking was easy, finding the place was easy. Tons of stores and restaurants within walking distance. Area was clean and safe as well.

Awful. We showed up and no one was working. We missed our dinner reservations and messed up our whole night. When someone finally showed up, there was no apology or anything.

Staff never answered my repeated calls or messages. Then, despite never communicating with me, they tried to charge me two minutes after check out. Watch these scammers

Checked in at 8pm and front office was closed, had to read sign on door to go down the street. Parking was fine. Room was ok, a bit stuffy and smelled stale but clean and bathroom was decent. Bedding could have been better. Partial ocean view from our room, great access to the beach and pier.

We found this little gem after our Airbnb cancelled us 2 days before arrival. Since we have ESA’s, long term options can be slim pickings- especially June in SD. We stayed 9 days and we are so happy we did. Marlene and her staff took great care of us. This beachy little inn had all the comforts and is just a short walk to the water. The place was so clean. We loved that there was free parking. High ceilings on the second floor were perfect for my very tall boyfriend and gave an open and airy feel. We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Pacific Shores Inn!

It was very close to Pacific ocean. Enjoyed the coffee offered in the morning, then went to the Breakfast Republic for brunch. We spent time sitting on the beach enjoying the warm breeze, took walks along the boardwalk. Can be a nice get away for the price!

Great location.

The property is very close to the beach, restaurants and Mission Bay. The beachwalk was great. The parking is included and it was very convenient to park by the room. The weather and sunsets were beautiful. I would definately stay there again.

I always stay at Pacific Shores when I come to PB. I love the deluxe queen rooms. They are spacious and clean. They are situated where you can see the ocean from the window. There’s great accommodations to make it easy to bring your food and cater to your family. The location is great, with close access to the beach. Staff is always courteous and friendly. My favorite place to stay!

Close to beach

This is our first visit to The Pacific Shores Inn. We booked a partial view room with our dog. It was quiet, nicely decorated and had a pretty view about 1/2 a block from the beach. There are many fun places to eat that are walkable from our room. We will definitely stay here again.

Love the location of this place. Wake up and straight up walk up to the beach. Walk to get coffee on the beach. Walk to the beach last thing before going to bed. Walking distance to bars, restaurants, clubs, biking, kayaking, etc.... My go to place in San Diego. Can't beat it - and very reasonably priced.

Super friendly staff, continuously cleaning so there isn't tourist beach sand everywhere. There is NO Continental breakfast, despite the pictures and even the automated voice prompt when you call.

Place was nice, close to the beach and all but it would be nice to include housekeeping services without the visitors having to ask, too costly for not having breakfast.

It was close to the beach and walkable .The room matched the pictures so that was nice. Staff was helpful. I was disappointed that the continental breakfast was non existent, the advertisement showed a nice selection, it was a deciding factor for me as other hotels similar in price.
