Great old hotel. We had a nice suite- some quirks like light switch turns off outlets- could figure out why devices weren’t charging and refrigerator shutoff…. The spa and gym are very nice. Pool is out of service - looks nice but empty. Great central location for walking to many hot spots. Overall 4 out of 5 stars!

Beautiful hotel. Staff and everything in between was great. Other the the odd smell coming from all the bathrooms drawers. Not pleasant at all. And a big hole on the floor by the desk. Other than that the bed was super comfortable. Love the two showers.

Clean and very dated. Not because the theme was that of the French Revolution but because it looked like it was all from 1970. The room had a musty smell, stains on the robes and sheet, no outlets in the room to charge devices, and simple a drink cooler not a mini fridge. The windows were also so filthy it was hard to enjoy the view. Lots of potential with friendly staff and good location, the property just hasn’t received funding to keep up with competition. Lastly, parking is way overpriced at 52 dollars per night and a hotel fee of 30 on top of your Expedia total.

The hotel is pretty old and smells musty (at least the 17th floor and rooms did). Our shower was clogged every day and they couldn’t fix it. We also had black mold in our bathroom. However, all of the staff were helpful and amazing. We ended up switching rooms. The spa and massage therapists were wonderful. The pool area was really nice too but crowded. If it weren’t for the attentive staff, we would have switched hotels.

This is not a 4.5 star property. Rating should be updated. Windows were filthy, carpets were musty. Housekeeping did not service our room one day, even though we were gone for 12 hours. Had to request clean towels at 10pm upon our return that day. Keys stopped working on multiple days, requiring trips to the front desk to re-key. Other 4 star hotels in the area are much nicer & cleaner (Intercontinental, Westin). I felt mislead by the 4.5 star rating. Staff was very nice, but other things listed above made the stay not enjoyable. Wish we would have booked somewhere else.

The hotel room was not cleaned properly; we found items from previous guests strewn about the room. Additionally, the hot water in the shower was not working. I asked several times for this to be fixed and promised several times that engineering would address the issue but at no time during our stay was the problem fixed nor a reasonable alternative proposed (i.e. a new room). I was told that me and my 3 children could use the showers in the gym in the building next to the hotel if we needed to shower.

From the moment we dropped off our car with valet to the moment we checked out, we had excellent service and the hotel was spotless. I felt welcomed and well taken care of during my stay. I was not disappointed the entire time. I would definitely book another stay here over any other.

We love the decor of the property and the location. However, the bathroom needs remodeling. The sink and faucet area had old repairs that made the area look unclean. Moreover, after 10:00 pm there was no hot or warm water! Not how I wanted to wash my face in cold water. And lastly, the wallpaper was peeling off the wall in the bathroom.

The hotel is beautiful! It was elegantly vintage and so classy. It felt like something out of an old movie. The only complaint is that if your room is on the side near the trolley line, you will hear the trolley honking until about midnight. We also heard dogs barking in the middle of the night on the street. The beds were a little firmer than I’d like and the room smelled a little musty but all in all, the rooms were great. The breakfast was amazing and the restaurant is newly renovated and so beautiful!

The Westgate receives a mixed review for my stay. Pros: the Tea Service is really fun & the service outstanding. Strong recommend. The rooftop pool is fun, social and also a recommend; however the pool bar/menu could use a refresh. Very expensive for the options available. The menu is “healthy “ but is limited and too quirky and trendy. Sometimes you just want a club sandwich with fries. Hotel Room: spacious and classic. Location: walkable to theaters, gaslamp, restaurants. Cons: Most of the hotel rooms are adjacent to the trolley which relentlessly blows its horn day/night. The windows in the rooms ARE NOT modern and therefore it sounds like you’re sleeping on the trolley. All other noises- sirens, dogs, arguments on the street- all can be heard. Bathroom: both big and small- in other words, poor use of a large enough space. There’s a long makeup counter with a sit down vanity, but no stool or chair? The counter height is low, which makes it awkward no matter your height. Rooms have some neat features but need new carpet. Our room has a connecting door so you can hear almost everything your neighbor is doing. Finally- at $52 a night the valet should be professional. Most were, but the late night valet was condescending and rude only to me- not my husband. I didn’t appreciate the misogyny. I did report it to the front desk upon check out. I haven’t had a follow up yet, but I did receive apologies from the team there. So to wrap, some really great things, some not so great.

Pro: Beautiful property, great service. Reasonable prices for the location. Con: make sure to ask to not be placed in a room on the side of the train. The train runs constantly every few minutes and rings the train bells. There are maybe 5 hours at night where you don’t hear the train but starts up early around 6 am. We had another room on opposite side and they had no issues with the train noise.

A grand hotel with a good local reputation. Old fashioned with French classic decor. Wall paper, brass fixtures, carpet. Good service and a nice pool and gym access. My only complaint is I asked for a quiet room and was given one next to the elevator.

My stay at the resort was absolutely great—comfortable accommodations and a pleasant environment. However, I was not informed ahead of time about additional resort fees or taxes, nor was I told that I needed to visit the front desk at checkout to receive a final receipt via email. When I called on August 6, 2025 at 6:20 AM to request the receipt and ask when to expect my deposit refund, I was met with an incredibly rude receptionist. They repeatedly talked over me, and when I respectfully tried to get their attention by saying “Sir,” they became highly offended, loudly corrected me with “Ma’am, Ma’am, Ma’am—I am a Ma’am,” and then hung up on me. This interaction left a very negative impression after an otherwise enjoyable stay. Clear communication about fees and checkout procedures, along with professional customer service, would have made a big difference.

There is a lot to like about the Westgate. The lobby and lounge were lovely and the front desk was accommodating. It was within walkable distance to many nice areas, although if you go in the wrong direction it feels less safe. My main complaint was with the valet service. We forgot a bag in our car and called for it in the morning to be retrieved and brought to the front desk. By mid-afternoon it had not been. The front desk then called and asked them to bring it, but no one did. Finally another employee went and got it for us. For $52 per night I would have expected more responsiveness.

We always enjoy staying at the Westgate hotel. However, my wife experienced difficulty walking back from the ball game, so much so that she could not walk. Thanks to the night manager and her associates they gave us a wheel- chair, ice and extra pillows for sleeping. The service was outstanding from everyone involved. We also wish to thank the to thank George, the valay and John, the food and bar manager. We plan on staying at the Westgate again.

Omar at the front desk really kicked off our stay for our anniversary, the valet guys (especially Al & Fernando) were complete class acts, and George was a wonderful bartender. The staff was even more impressive than the luxurious decor…like “go down playing their instruments on the Titanic” impressive. We’ll gladly come back! Pro tip…just pay to park in the hotel’s valet and save yourself the headache.

Nice old school hotel with a nice pool and hot run plus outdoor gym - which was a little cold because of the season. Staff ok nice but hefty parking fee - 52USD per night! Hotel isn’t very well insulated sound wise so because of downtown location with tram and fire station nearby it was very noisy both night and day

Easy transportation to airport. Also has several public transportation lines nearby. Very clean room, luxury feel, good service. We got free lemonade to replace the free wine. Had formal breakfast and lunch. Both very good. Also stored our luggage free for a whole day. Highly recommended.

I ADORED the Westgate hotel: room, pool/spa, Sunday afternoon tea were all fabulous. The staff were friendly and helpful. I miss the era of the classic, elegant, luxury hotel and Westgate hit all the marks. The property itself is glorious, walkable to everything, but so many homeless makes the surrounding area just smelly and sad.

Some staff members - those in n lobby especially went beyond the call of being helpful!👏 However, a waiter in the dining room on floor two could use training in checking back to tables, and alerting when there is a 30 minute wait between placing the order and having it delivered and delivered only because we went into the kitchen and asked what was going on. The order was so delicious we ALMOST forgave his lack of care. I the bottom line I look forward to returning to the hotel again.

This is a beautiful elegant hotel, beautifully appointed and clean. The service is excellent. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The pool is lovely and the afternoon tea was luxurious. Loved my experience.
