Beautiful historic property. Rooms are very quiet.one of the two elevators was under repair during our stay and room service had been discontinued. Very convenient to restaurants, tours of DC and government offices. Restaurant had the best crab cake ever!

This beautiful, charming hotel doesn\'t quite have its act together. The "business center" had one computer that didn\'t work. They eventually got it to work, but no apologies or concern about the inconvenience to me. When I asked for a wake-up call, I didn\'t get it. It\'s located in a part of the city that has no shops or convenience stores around. I wanted to love it, but I won\'t go there again.

This hotel has a great location within walking distance of many attractions, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. However, the hotel is in dire need of renovation and my stay was impacted by ongoing construction. The fire alarm went off twice during my stay, both times due to the construction work, forcing everyone to evacuate their rooms and wait outside until the fire department arrived to turn it off. The construction noise was also a constant disruption. If you're a light sleeper or looking for a peaceful stay, I would recommend waiting until the renovations are complete before booking this hotel. However, if you prioritize location and don't mind a bit of disruption, it might be a suitable option.

Upon arrival, one elevator was out of service and the other was stuck on the 6th floor. Had to walk up to room. Called for room service and advised to get menu on website. Made our selection, called for room service and told that neither item we had selected were still available and that the on-line menu was out of date. Very limited closet space and little counter space in the bathroom. Overall, very disappointed in the accommodations.

Beautiful classic hotel. All the spaces are gorgeous and the rooms are renovated with classic elements still in place. I liked my room and the staff was gracious and helpful. However, my frustration was that I had to come down to the front desk for EVERYTHING. No room service … come pick up your food from the bar, no utensils for a delivery … come pick them up from the front desk … food delivery had to be retrieved from the lobby. The hotel looks luxurious, but the service options were not.

The original room we were given was disheveled and used, like housekeeping hadn’t gotten to it even though it was well into the afternoon. The staff were pleasant about exchanging the room though the setup was very odd, not feng shui at all; I’m never a fan of a bed facing an entry door. Overall it was a pleasant experience but the hotel definitely needs some love.

The room was incredibly dirty. There was pubic hair in the shower and dirt on the bed sheets. The air conditioning didn’t work in our room, and it only got hotter despite lowering the AC to as low as it can go. We checked out under 2 hours after we checked in… will not be staying here again.

The hotel is in a very convenient and safe location with easy access to a Metro station, many restaurants, and the many must-see museums, etc. The lobby is beautiful and the bar was nice, lovely staff, too. My only complaint is the cleanliness/property conditions. On the surface, everything is quite clean, but the carpets are very old and there's no ventilation, even in the bathroom, so I suspect dust and mold are settling into carpets and/or the walls. I had horrible allergy attacks every night and that's completely unusual for me unless there's a lot of hidden dust/mold in either the carpets, walls, or pillows. The rooms are comfortable and nice otherwise, but the carpets need to be stripped out and either replaced with new ones, or flooring should be put in. It's far more hygienic anyway. I overheard a guest complaining about the same thing in the bar/restaurant area as well.

Yes. Used Q TIP found in the bed. Charged card multiple times without knowledge and customer service was not helpful as the manager was very dismissive about charges and gave a half hearted apology like i put the qtip in the bed on purpose

The neighborhood and property was historic and appealing. The staff was prompt and tentative. All and all this would usually mean a great stay in the busy city of Washington DC. On a hot June day, the staff worked with me to get me into a room during a sweltering noon day hour with a 3pm check-in time, eventually offering a complementary upgrade (from one queen bedroom to a king bedroom) as it became available. Again, a complement to the staff at the time. Unfortunately, I found that the room/carpeting in the elevators/facility showed signs of disrepair and had its pitfalls: embedded staining in places and after a night in my bed, unmistakeable welts from bedbug bites on my arms that swelled and itched after late at night and onward. Property upkeep is generally a property management problem and the older a property gets, the maintenance needs extra attention/refurbish to prevent these situations. For that reason, I can't recommend this hotel in its current state, excellent customer service aside, while the room I slept in should have never been available to occupy.

It seems as if drivers in the Washington DC area really enjoy using their horn. This hotel is at a busy intersection with frequent backups, which results in lengthy horn house thrpughout the night. It is also possible that there is either an ambulance or police substation nearby because frequent sirens were also an issue. Staff is very friendly though, and the location is only a block away from the convention center, three blocks from the Metro station.

The hotel is nice - it has history, an awesome location to city center, and clean rooms. But, the AC in the building is an old system that they control for the whole building from one thermostat. The thermostat in the room will only allow you to increase the temperature, not decrease. Also, if the building is set to “winter” temperatures you cannot change your room to “summer” ac if it gets too hot. We stayed in February but oddly the temperature outside for the night was 54. The minimum the thermostat in our room would drop was to 78, which was the temp set for the entire building. We tried switching to AC but it only continued to blow hot air. It was so hot in the room that we had to crack the windows. When we spoke to the front desk the next morning, they explained the building was old and had an old thermostat that was currently set for “winter” and even though it was an unseasonably warm weekend they had to keep it set to “winter”. Basically every room in the building had 78 or warmer. We got no sleep that night so I doubt we will stay here again. It was so unpleasant.

Liked how close it was to DC historical sites. Service was excellent, particularly at the front desk. Larger vehicles cannot be parked in their parking garage, but there are several other places around, and cheaper than the valet service they offer. Wish the rooms (maybe some of them do) had refrigerator and microwave. Really like the robes they provided, excellent water pressure, and you can keep your room as cool as you want.

The stay was good but only drawback was upon checking in, the manager was rude and was t friendly. The front desk worker was great but the manager was rude. I had done a credit card authorization form with my company and it was al set up. When I arrived the manager said it wasn’t on file and it had to be redone again. She just wasn’t cooperative. She shouldn’t be working there. The rest of the employees and staff were great. The room was small but it did its job.

The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. However, they did receive a call from another guest at 2:00 am demanding that I be relocated to another room. To which they responded by promptly sending a bell hop to my room to collect my bags. I informed management of the ordeal at checkout the next day and was kindly offered a couple bottles of water for the road and for my inconvenience. No explanation or apology. I chose this hotel expecting a quiet, peaceful stay and wound up with one of the most disruptive and restless night’s sleep of my adult life. Needless to say I won’t be back or making any recommendations.

We had a wonderful time on our visit to DC, staying 2 nights at the Henley. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a welcoming door man who helped me unload our luggage and park our vehicle quickly and efficiently. Our check in was flawless and all of our interactions with the staff was pleasant and professional. Our room was fantastic; spacious, relaxing and relatively quiet for being in the heart of the city. We enjoyed two breakfasts at the Henley, and both times our server was attentive and kind and both of our breakfasts were delicious, filling, and reasonably priced. Access to the National Mall was easy and lovely; walking past the St. Patrick's church, Ford's Theater, the FBI building, and the Department of Justice. I would definitely recommend staying at the Henley for the decor and comfort of the hotel, the spacious room, and the convenience of walking to many DC attractions within 10-15 minutes.

Do yourself a favor and pack a sleeping bag and stay on the street by the Methodist church down the street with free showers. This ‘stay’ was one of the worst travel experiences I’ve ever had. We paid for a room from 3pm-11am. We were unable to check-in until 10pm and the flippant manager said there was nothing they could do for us because we booked through expedia (something else to think about in the future). All the other hotels in the area were booked, so I was left worth little other choice to wait until they damned to let me into the room I booked. I was traveling for work and needed to change for a dinner, the hotels solution was to offer me a dank janitor’s bathroom in the basement. I wasn’t comfortable even setting my bag down in it let alone change in the cramped space. When we finally able to get into the room, we were made to wait outside of the hotel in 38° windy weather while they polished the door jams only to then get in the one working elevator that reeked of sewage.

I was a little nervous about coming given some recent bad reviews, but overall, I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted warmly by the front desk staff each day and all the staff encountered were very nice. The lobby was a little dated, but the elevators were just fine. The room was excellent, clean (bed was a tad small, if 2 people slept in it) and clean and the shower was great! Rooms cleaning was excellent. They charge for parking, but so does every other hotel in DC but the room rate was excellent. The hotel is an 18-minute walk to most of the museums and was in a very convenient location to museums and places to eat. A safe neighborhood and on a busy street, but I didn;t hear any noise in my room. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful historic property. Rooms are very quiet.one of the two elevators was under repair during our stay and room service had been discontinued. Very convenient to restaurants, tours of DC and government offices. Restaurant had the best crab cake ever!

All the staff was nice, helpful and friendly. The place was clean. Didnt like that the restaurant wasnt open all the time but the food and service was good. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful classic hotel. All the spaces are gorgeous and the rooms are renovated with classic elements still in place. I liked my room and the staff was gracious and helpful. However, my frustration was that I had to come down to the front desk for EVERYTHING. No room service … come pick up your food from the bar, no utensils for a delivery … come pick them up from the front desk … food delivery had to be retrieved from the lobby. The hotel looks luxurious, but the service options were not.
