This hotel is a bit dated and in need of a remodel. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were flat. The bathroom was quite small- two people could not stand in there at once. The shower was fine, not strong water pressure but OK. The pool was closed three out of four days we were there, which was disappointing. There was a short storm late afternoon, and even though the sky totally cleared up right after that they still kept the pool closed the whole evening through its normal closing time of 10 PM. Another day it was closed for cleaning and another day it was closed for maintenance. The desk representatives and cleaning people were very kind and helpful.

Very disappointed in hotel for the price. You have to pay $60 a night to valet and they tell you to call for them to bring your vehicle out which our room phone didn’t work which we told them first night and was never fixed. Only had 2 USB chargers which neither of those worked either. Rooftop pool is super cool but can only be used by 21+ after 5:00 which is when we could use after touring all day but we had our 12 year old with us so he couldn’t swim at all. Not a place to bring children! They had some sort of party Saturday night which was super loud and flooded the lobby with people smoking weed around our son! Super small bathroom and not even a dresser to put your clothes in!

Located in good area for walking and seeing the sights of D.C. Our room overlooked some of the D.C. townhouses so it didn't seem so hotel-ly. Every single employee that we met was very professional and friendly. We worked out in the gym and played a few rounds of table tennis. Fun for all of us.

DuPont Circle is a great area with fantastic dining options in walking distance, and the major attractions of DC are just a 15 minute Uber away. The hotel is GREAT, except that they recently restricted access to the pool for children, so that they cannot be there past 5:00. This would have been fine, had this been explained anywhere in the description/policies posted here. The manager’s response was, “It’s on the hotel website, and we just can’t please everybody.” She assured me she would include this in the info shown on Expedia, but it’s still not showing. My kids and I were very disappointed, as this was our 4th visit there, and this new policy will probably prevent us from coming back.

The Ven served it's purpose but with some disappointments. The positives: good locaton for the Metro stop, comfortable bed and very good housekeeping. Some nice restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The not so good: there's obviously been some sort of refurb however it's surface level at best - aging and noisy air con units, old sockets and light fixtures, chipped and peeling bathroom mirror - basically nothing beyond a slap of paint and a roll of wallpaper. We were also in an adjoining room and the noise insulation was extremely poor. Like, bad. We decided to book The Ven because of the pool, and wanting to jump in at the end of a busy day sightseeing, however we found it to be extremely unkempt and therefore unwelcoming so we only ended up using it once. No one seemed to be keeping on top of the used towels, replenishing fresh towels, clearing the used cups and napkins rolling around etc. For an area you walk around without shoes on it also felt quite dirty underfoot. So yeah, it did the job, but will be trying somewhere different next time I'm in town.

While I've stayed at this property many times in the past, this was my first time to enjoy the rooftop pool. Their special events provide another way to enhance your stay. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to the next opportunity to return.

Great and centrally located. Well appointed with a large gym, reception area and onsite bar. Using the destination fee as a daily food and beverage credit is nice and incentivized us to get food and drinks each day. However, it would be good to communicate that the food and beverage credit can also cover tip and tax. The pool is smaller than what the pictures make it out to be but was much welcome relief in the hot weather. The rooms were fine, though a bit dated. The bed was very comfortable. However the bathrooms could do with a refresh and the shower didn’t have much water pressure.

Very welcoming staff and right next to the metro station for easy transit around the city. There was also a fun playroom, nice fitness center and a cool rooftop with a bar and pool. $71 for valet per night was upsetting to hear but we did it.

Dated property. Carpeting is stained both in the hallways and the rooms. Terrible shower curtains. Fridge was “plopped” on the floor with no thought. I’d rather not have one. Lighting in rooms is terrible. Housekeeping and bar staff were great!

Rooms and hallways are worn and aged. The renovation to the lobby were great, but the hallway carpeting, and carpet in the rooms, the bedding ( sheets,comforter and pillows and room s overall, need refreshing. I have been staying here for almost 10-yrs on business and pleasure- I love the location and staff but the rooms need HELP!!

Very comfy bed, decent shower, great staff. . .restaurant just OK. Excellent location at Duport Circle/Embassy Row. I saw signs of needed (cosmetic) maintenance like scuffed/scraped paint on doorways, minor shower mildew, etc. Overall fine property--I'd stay again.

Lobby area is great however the room itself was quite run-down. Bathroom is just flat out dated - no frills, nothing spa like or refreshing about it. There is also no countertop surface area to place items in the bathroom, ladies, theres no way you're gonna do your makeup in there. Mirror in the bathroom was also pitted pretty bad and a corner of the glass cracked/broken off. Due to the complete lack of storage area in the bathroom, the towels are stored in a little fake wood nightstand thing under the sink that looks like something I had in college and the towels smelled as a result. HVAC system was incredibly loud and didn't maintain temperature. Lastly, the receptacles built into the nightstands are so worn out that the items plugged in would fall out. If they stayed in, they had to be wiggled just right in order to make them work - even then, they'd quit working after a bit, followed by some crackling sounds. I ended up plugging all of my items in on the desk to ensure they'd be charged in the morning. For what I paid for this hotel, I'm extremely disappointed. Don't make the same mistake I did - pick another hotel nearby.

We have stayed at this hotel many times because of convenience. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are not. But these past 2 nights will be our last. The heat was so loud all night that we never slept. We heard this from several people as well. The hotel was not busy. Maybe this is the reason. The bed is the only thing comfortable as rooms are very small. But that is true of many convenient DC hotels. But the HVAC noise is like a wind tunnel. The same thing is true in summer, but I thought they would have fixed it by now. Because the hotel is older, the winter is horrible as the hot air need to constantly go on to keep warm and it is not only beyond noisy, its is so dry !!

The area has so many restaurants, coffee shops and we even stumbled across a farmers market Sunday morning. The things I don’t like involve the room. The rooms are sooooooo small. My husband and I got a deluxe room and it was tiny. Only one person can fit in the bathroom at a time. And that one person will feel very claustrophobic. You can not walk past the bed without having to move things around.

Room was booked for 3 people. Room was described as "sleeps 4", but was serviced for 2 people. Every day ( we stayed for 4 nights) I had to ask for 3rd paper cup and a tea bag, some times a few times per day. Airconditioner is very noisy.

I would have given this hotel 5 stars if the a/c / heating system did not sound like a jetliner engine. Seriously, it was the LOUDEST noise I had ever heard in any hotel I have stayed at. We had to turn off the a/c and open the windows. Thank goodness the guest in the unit above us did the same because we couldn\'t go to sleep hearing the "jet roar" of their a/c unit. Until the systems are updated, BRING SILICON EARPLUGS for book elsewhere.

Location is great. Close to some shopping and lots of restaurants around that are walkable. Staff is very friendly. Location is great next to metro stop and restaurants. Hotel staff was kind. Room was very clean. There's an Amazon locker too. Unfortunately, our room had an air conditioner that was slightly less loud than a jet engine. There was also a constant buzzing sound in the bathroom. Walls are thin and you could hear people talking in the adjacent room. Twice during our stay there was a pool party upstairs, which could be heard 6 floors below. The shower in the room has only two temperatures: boiling and ice cold with nothing in between. One nightstand lamp did not work. Breakfast was a bit limited. Room 311.

The AC sounds like a jet engine so not able to sleep when I finally got to sleep housekeeping woke me way too early with them yelling to each other. The lighting in the room was terrible, the outlets would not hold the plug and the USB cable ones didn't work at all, burnt out light bulb on desk (I left a note) and torn curtain. See photo.

Had a wonderful stay at The Ven! The staff are all very nice and professional. Our room was big enough for the 3 of us and super clean, up to date. The location can't be beat either, you're right where everything else, just a few steps away from everything. Highly recommend staying here!

We arrived at 9pm and our room was not ready. This morning at breakfast we were told we needed a voucher. They never mentioned that at check in so we had to leave breakfast go back to front desk then get back in line to order breakfast! Horrible customer service.

The hotel was perfectly located. The staff was more than kind and generous. Expedia listed our price as everything included only to find a "Destination Fee" was added to our bill. They ended up removing the charge but Expedia should know better than to list a Marriott hotel without explaining they have a destination fee to add to your total.

We checked in and there was no room available however we received a text and an email that the room was fine and when we checked in the desk, person and manager proceeded to give us a letter stating that it was Expedia‘s fault that the reservation was screwed up and they turned off their system and somehow You still booked the room… They were not the least bit interested in helping us find an alternate room. I don’t know if I’ve been charged for this room or not and it completely screwed things up and I missed a dinner reservation with family that I have not seen in about a year . This is completely unacceptable. Please call me at 14109823640

While I travel regularly, I’m always amazed at how poor customer service can be at so called “boutique” hotels. I don’t travel with credit cards because it’s 2024 and I always confirm that properties take contactless payment prior. Despite their website and Apple Maps listing stating they take contactless payments this location doesn’t. The person who assisted me at the desk was only marginally less rude than the manager she called to “help”. I always regret straying from Hilton properties and the Ven reminded me of that.

Wow! I am a former DC resident who was visiting to fix up my condo. I chose the Ven based on location and price. I was blown away by this hotel! The staff were SO kind and welcoming, and the room was adorable. They even gave me face masks and a friendship bracelet at check-in! The location is great - right in Dupont Circle - and only a three minute walk to the red line. I highly recommend this hotel!

Great experience all around EXCEPT ordered breakfast at 10:20 Sunday morning. At 11:40 called to see what is going on and they informed me that the system they use to download the food orders was down. If I can offer a suggestion, notify guests of this when it happens and then offer an alternative ordering measure.

Only objection was that the water could have been hotter. I could take a shower, but the water never got REALLY hot. Staff was great and the $28/day credit in restaurant had us eating there for most meals....but the food was wonderful! The bus tour pass was a PLUS...we did that the morning before we went to airport. Thank you!!!

Lovely hotel, staff was very friendly at the front desk and at the bar, the room was clean. My only complaint is that on day one the complimentary coffee was great and hot and there were all different milk choices etc. The second day the coffee was lukewarm, the oat milk was spoiled and the whole coffee station was pretty bare, had to wait for coffee.

The property was nice and the staff was very friendly. The food choices for breakfast were not the greatest. Omelet was good but potatoes were old and cold. Breakfast sandwiches were premade and warmed in a little oven. I was wanting more cooked food and not pre-packaged. I was a little bummed that the restaurant closed at 10pm, and most places close early so late night bites weren't an option. The bathrooms are very small and not enough room for two people to get dressed at the same time.

Great hotel, very reasonable in an area of DC that is close to restaurants and the metro. Nice vibe to the lobby area for meeting with friends. Rooftop is also nice when it isn't too hot. Breakfast was a little disappointing but otherwise would definitely stay here again.
