Opal Grand Oceanfront Resort & Spa

Very nice opal hotel however $30 a day for parking and $60 rental fee for beach chairs/umbrella is over the top. We have stayed at opal in Sarasota several times much more reasonable and just as nice! Will not be returning to this opal resort.

Elevators did not work and false fire alarm at 5:20 am, not fun.

On entering it is a luxurious and beautiful space. Our room was clean and lovely but did not feel like a five star resort. Bathroom was small like an average hotel. Pool was also disappointing in size and water condition- one day was very cloudy and seemed dirty.

Located right across the street from the beach. (Beach chair rentals through a separate company.) Upper pool deck has a great view of the ocean. Beds were comfortable, nice gym. Will definitely stay here again.

This is the first review I have ever written and felt compelled to let others know my experience. For 4nts in February I paid $775 per night (tax/fees included.) For this price you would expect a 5 star hotel. This is not that. The pool was so crowded Thur, Fri, Sat that you were almost sitting on top of the person next to you. The water in the pool was so dirty there was a thick film of residue and other gross things at the bottom. The beach they show in pictures (with the beautiful pathway,) is actually Delray’s public beach and has nothing to do with the Opal (no service,) The pictures make you think there are resort umbrella's and chairs but to use them is $125 a day. Yes the hotel has been renovated and looks beautiful, but you can hear the people in the rooms next to you sneeze, flush the toilet, and everything else they are doing. I woke up several times thinking someone was entering my room but it was actually across the hall. For $775 a nt I received a room over looking a parking lot, with a cement wall about 46” high when you opened the sliding glass door. There was no security what so ever. People can walk off the public beach and right to the Opal’s pool. No checking for a room keys or name to enter the pool. I come to Delray Beach every year. I love to travel and stay at amazing resorts. This is the first time ever I have felt like I was scammed out of a ridiculous amount of money. This should be a $400/nt hotel.

Liked the pool , spa, health club, ocean staff but food was not so good lakes verity, heathy chooses, freshness my overall for food is 2 stars but there are choices elseware

Unfortunately one of the elevators was not working for the 4 days we were there so the wait for the one was very long. You would think that they could get a repairmen out to fix it in a reasonable time frame. Also the ice machine on our floor was broken. Otherwise nice stay with a great location.

Beautiful beach right across the street with crystal clear water. The rooms were ok, we stayed at the JW Marriott in Orlando right before arriving here and you cant compare the clealiness or the atmosphere. The loby is nice but once you get on the elevator, old elevators that need an overhaul, you see how dated the building is. From there you could see dirty walls and we had to change rooms right away since our bathroom was not cleaned when we arrived. All we were offered was a glass of champagne. Having seen urine all around the toilet, that obviously wasnt ours, it would have been nice to get discount on dinner or comped. The manager said we got an upgraded room which my husband and I couldnt understand since it was the same room sans the couch, with the same view of the ocean just up 2 floors.

Place is very nice but one side of the hotel is newer. The halls on the older side smelled a lil musty and sometimes you smelled sewage.

When we first arrived, we ordered room service and it was awful. They refused to refund us because I didn’t physically bring the food that I had thrown away but instead gave me a breakfast voucher. The internet and WiFi did not work in our room. On the day of check in I went to the desk, discussed with manager, and they said they would send an engineer. The next day I complained again and they sent an engineer when we were out at 5 pm at night and when I got back to the room, now the WiFi wouldn’t show up at all on a search. Other guests had the same issue. The hotel charges a minimum of 800$ a night for our stay and the hotel is worth about 2-300$. It is semi ocean front but different than advertised. I also complained that our floors were dirty as our bare feet were stained instantly after we took our shoes off. They offered to clean the room for us, but shouldn’t it already be cleaned. We were given one small tube of body wash for a family of three, had 4 non long size pillows so we had to ask for more pillows to not break our neck despite having a king size bed. The valet and bell team was great but other than that, don’t waste your money here. Very disappointed overall and was really looking forward to experiencing this property.

Place is nice. Room was dirty though.

Really LOVE this hotel but the service was a bit off and the staff needs some training. Often staff was not present when needed them - noticed there was empty coffee cups and garbage in the common areas all day long never picked up while staff was chatting in the halls. Check-in very slow and staff overall inattentive, surprising for a place like this, loved everything else!

We booked a standard king room on Expedia based on a photo showing a sliding door and balcony with a view. The actual room had no balcony and 2 small windows. When we asked reception we were told standard king rooms don't have balconies (only suites). The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and nice walk in shower but not sure I would have paid that much. Location is great, across the street from the beach.

I’m surprised this place has such great reviews. Price is outrageous for what it is which is straight up ghetto… My biggest complaint is the lack of sleep- this hotel is LOUD! We had the king suite and were located on the second floor. It sounded like elephants walking around all night, throwing suitcases on the ground every 5 mins. I eventually had to call the front desk at midnight to complain and they settled down for a whole 30 mins, I think I finally got to sleep about 3 AM. The hotel only had 1 of the 2 elevators working, so we constantly had to take the stairs unless we wanted to wait for over 20 mins to get an elevator. They don’t have plans to fix the elevator either which was clear. The room was very dusty, I had a hard time breathing in the room. The toilet paper holder wasn’t secure to the wall, not sure why. The balcony was a fake balcony- it wasn’t even an arm length big so you couldn’t even sit out there. The “balcony” overlooked the spa where people were constantly hanging out in their robes mingling and smoking, so not ideal as a pregnant woman wanting a peaceful weekend. Very disappointed, we will not be back. The W in Ft. Lauderdale is way better and actually the same price. I also put up a do not disturb sign on the door to come back and find our room picked up which was also weird… the sister hotel the Atlantic suites is also a step up from here, the lobby may not be as nice but the rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, and the hotel rooms are quiet.

Everything was great. My only complaint was the bedding (blanket) wasnt heavy enough. I felt like I was sleeping with just a sheet. And the bed was too hard for my liking. Just not the cozy experience I had hoped for. Otherwise everything was fantastic.

Rooms are outdated

Hotel room decor and set up felt dated. There was a musty smell as well. The layout of the hotel elevators were at the extreme end of the hotel. The pool area was small and jammed with too many seats very close together . Pool bar was dark and offered limited food menu.

Wonderful hotel but poor internet, come for vacation and don’t try to work. Enjoy

The rooms by the pool are very noisy!!!

We had a spectacular view of the ocean with a small balcony for two. Our room was a bit outdated with the exception of the bathroom. They had a convenient market downstairs. Access to beach was across the street but hotel does not have chair/umbrella service but they do provide pool towels. The pool area was incredibly congested so we did not get to enjoy it.

Great location with beach, shops, restaurants. Great service with concierge, pool attendants and general staff. Great job by general manager.

Ac stopped working but staff switched us rooms

First, they tacked on a parking charge of $30 a day when I didn’t even have a car! Then they placed us in a “standard view” room which was a horrible (substandard) view of loud ugly noise air handlers. The balcony was completely unusable due to the noise not to mention the ugly roof and units. Then the desk “agents””agreed to move us. Very inexperienced staff. The staff informed us they would call when room was ready, THEY NEVER CALLED. We packed up, wasted hours or vacation time! I called, they didn’t pick up the phone. Then went down to front desk to find 10 deep customers and one check in person. Totally over their heads. Don’t waste your money on this over-priced subpar service property. The Seagate much better. Oh, if u want a $300 facial, the Opal can accommodate! lol! Don’t waste ur money.

Had the wrong room at check in. They told me they would fix it so we waited at the beach for an almost 2 hrs. Came back to the front desk who said room was ready but nothing had changed they still tried to put us in the wrong room. Finally fixed it and gave us our oceanfront room. The toilet ran non stop the 1st 2 nights We complained twice the 2nd time someone came and fixed it. The doors to the room slam so loud and our neighbors would come back around 2am the whole time we were there and slam their door and wake us up

Expected more for the price point. Property was fine, they'd made recent-ish low-budget updates. Food, pool side and in-room, was low quality. What was really disappointing is the hotel cancelled my parent's reservation without notifying them and then required them to pay an exorbitant last minute rate to stay in a dump of a room. Providing more details below before the property responds by saying it was not their responsibility - a common response with the Opal staff. The property leaves a lot to be desired especially when it comes to client satisfaction. *** The desk agent gave my parents my room upon checkin - clearly not checking names. When I checked in, they told me I didn't have a reservation. As we dug in they blamed my mom for cancelling her reservation yet, as I asked more questions we found that Opal had cancelled the reservation as they didn't receive payment when they attempted to run my mom's old credit card number. They claimed, despite having texted her a number of times, they called an 800 number and cancelled the reso when they couldn't get to her. Since we were down there for a family vacation and had a number of rooms rented we weren't going to send my parents elsewhere so we took the last room they had and despite the stench, price or trouble they put us through, the property took no responsibility and did NOTHING to accommodate. It was a terrible experience for a lackluster property, take your money elsewhere.

Listen the staff was super friendly, except for one guy at the front desk who was dismissive and rude. I wish I caught his name because he acted like an entitled little d*ck. And I never leave comments like this. That said, it’s a nice enough resort and overall we had a pleasant stay.

The Opal grand is beautiful great location across the street from the beach. Short walk to restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location, right across the street from the ocean. The hotel was beautiful, very clean, high end for sure. The restaurant at the hotel was wonderful. Just down the main road was wall the outdoor restaurants.

Beautiful property with super convenient location. Pool is gorgeous and you can walk across the street to beach. Friendly helpful courtesy staff all around. Spring for the oceanfront room - view was wonderful. Excellent dining options all in walking distance. Will stay here again.

You have to do something about the dogs in the restaurants.

The hotel was pretty great for the most part. I was disappointed with the room service being served in take out containers. It felt cheap and a thinly veiled attempt at cutting down on staffing costs. It is definitely disappointing considering how pricey the food, ($18 for a standard breakfast) and hotel are. It made our breakfast in bed experience messy. Considering our experience at the Seagate last year, I will be more inclined to book there again next year. I also find that the chairs at the beach should not be an extra charge. Again, considering the Seagate has a whole beach club experience at no extra charge. However, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating.

My wife had a great experience, from checking in to taking advantage of all the amenities. Easily walking distance to many restaurants. Our favorite was the breakfast buffet.

We stayed here for 3 nights in March. The food was good and service was really good. We have no complaints.

The service was outstanding and the restaurant, Drift, was top-notch.

Poor and expensive dining choices. Room service dinner came in cheap take-out style boxes and was cold. Tea was cold and in a paper cup.

Boutique feel in Delray Beach FL with premium service. Restaurant on location falls in line with a diverse creative menu, options including vegetarian, seafood. The spa is a must visit. We will be back year after year.

The Opal Grand is a Marriott, spruced up a bit. Bathroom is no different, and a little awkward since the sink is not inside the bathroom and anyone can see in from the hallway. Staff was excellent. Fun bar. Good food.
