Residence Inn by Marriott Atlanta Downtown

I did not even check in. First, there was not a Clear Hotel entrance , only a valet parking area around back of Hotel. The valet area looked drab and did not look safe The valet person was not very welcoming and to be honest made me feel very poor signage and lighting. Was told to look for orange cones when I called the hotel phone number to ask for help finding how to get to hotel parking area to check in. Parking is $50 per day which was not in the online info I was very uneasy.about leaving my car. The only alternative was a parking garage several streets away. I am 65 yrs old and did not feel safe walking at night in downtown Atlanta. I was told parking was $50.00 /day which was not in info when I made reservation. I decided not to keep reservation even knowing that My money would be non refundable. Very bad experience!

Unfortunately there is only valet parking or you park in a public parking garage less than a block away. While i was there, i didnt have time to wait for valet so we had to use the self parking.

Room was okay. Tv was crap and we had 2 tvs. You have to be buzzed in just to get into the hotel. Sketchy area! Get in and the front desk was rude. Free cookies was horrible! I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed on a Tuesday night for a concert. Super close, walking distance to SF Arena; therefore, no parking fees, or traffic to deal with. Hotel is super cute, room very cozy. Shower was hot with great pressure. Door inside our room separating the bedroom/living room had no door knob and would not close completely...annoying for TV volume when one was trying to sleep and the other was not. They offered a free breakfast (630-930), we got there at 815, only 3 clean plates left, enough eggs for each of us to have a scoop, sausage looked dry and dead, saw workers walking around but nothing being addressed for the 15 minutes we sat there, VERY DISAPPOINTING. We ate once on the road. BUT THE ABSOLUTE MUST KNOW is that the facility offers valet parking (only for small cars, you must park your own truck/SUV, they are too scared), and the parking garage they use (AND THEY SHOULD NOT WITHOUT ADEQUATE SECURITY) is apparently notorious for break-ins/vandalism. There are signs all over the garage reminding peeps to remove valuables (which we did) and some a**hole still busted our window out and took nothing! Y'ALL NEED TO SHARE THIS HORRIBLE REALITY WITH GUESTS TENTATIVELY BOOKING WITH YOU. Not only did we have to park ourselves, pay $40, we had a $400 window to replace once we drove 7.5 hours home to Louisiana with no bac window!! How about reimbursing us,RESIDENCE INN!! GET SAFER PARKING, IT SUCKS!!!Our vehicle was the only one we saw from level 4 to the bottom with vandalism, hmm!

Everything was excellent until the water main broke. No water at all for the last 2 days there. Asked about water bottles & a refund so could get another room at another hotel that wasn’t affected by the break. Was told it was out of their control. Wasn’t happy at all.

Hotel was great an old historic building renovated. The area was convenient but Valet parking will not accept pickups so that was a hassle and cost a lot of time and money finding parking accomodations.

Parking is terrible. The hotel does not have a parking garage so you either have to pay high valet parking price or a high public parking garage price.

No air in the middle of summer. Breakfast finishes at 9.30, at the weekend!!! $50 parking fee, per night.

I like that it was secure, staff was nice and great breakfast but wasn’t expecting to have to spend so much on parking.

Very nice downtown location, walk-in distance to a lot of venues and restaurants! Clean & quiet, my only drawback is the parking situation, unless you do the expensive valet, you’re on your own for parking.

The breakfast was great. They take a creditcard hold of $150 for incidentals while other hotels just swiped my card. The suite was nice and spacious. I really enjoyed my stay.

The first room I was assigned smelled god awful. I'm grateful that my staff member offered me a new room immediately. Even the next room was not up to par. I was gravely disappointed in the quality of the room. The paint job needed work, it was dusty, and it felt like it needed cleaning still.

The room was disgusting and smells like mold and the carpet was dirty, and the credenza was filthy and we never got any room service from house keeping and I mentioned it to the manager on duty and he told us that he was going to take care of it, but it never happened. I will never stay at that property again.

We didn't like the cleaning services. Our room was not cleaned, nor new towels provided for three days. The front desk staff said every two days and the cleaning staff said every three days for new towels and bed sheets changed every seven days. Many of the breakfast food items were gone before they closed so you needed to get there early to get something to eat. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash containers in the shower were completely empty, which we didn't know until we were in the shower.

The hotel was very nice and spacious everything was clean!

I would give it "0" rating if I could. First checked in Wednesday afternoon 6/12/24, the light in kitchenette area wasn't working. The sprinkler had paper towel stuffed in it. JaQuan changed light bulb & removed paper towel in sprinkler. Wednesday night no hot water in room 404. Leslie mentioned thst engineer Ola had to go on roof to fix it. Soiled mattresses in several rooms. I requested for fragrance free linen. Vic informed me of commercial detergent used. He suggested that since I have my own pods to ask front desk if I can receive quarters to wash the sheets & towels in my room. When asked William, he spoke w/Yancy & stated that he can only provide enough quarters for 1 wash & 1 dry. I said I can do that if you want me to break your machines. Then William spoke w/Yancy again & I was given a roll of quarters. I was in room 404 & had to go to the 19th floor to wash clothes. I washed towels first. Once towels were washed, I removed linen & discovered that my mattress was severely soiled dried up blood, urine, & hair. I went to front desk & William stated mgmt was gone for the day. I asked to be assigned to another room & same nasty mess. William generated a list of available rooms & gave to Ola to check out to see if any mattresses weren't solied. Ola brought me with him to see if any rooms would be okay. It took at least an hour & he took me to at least 6 rooms & all the mattresses were horrid. 1104 was the lesser of evils, but Ola stated the toilet wasn't functioning righ

Location is great. Breakfast hours are very odd. For put 5 day stay housekewping Was not even once ro clean our room.

Hotel was comparatively inexpensive and now I see why. Paint peeling from the ceilings lots of lights not working…. Very uncomfortable bed and pillows just seems very old and rundown needs a complete facelift would not recommend

The overall service of this hotel was great. Everybody was nice and got me everything that I needed. Refrigerator my room was not working and within 20 minutes I had a new fridge. The biggest problem with this hotel is it needs a serious update the carpet was very run down the microwave and fridge were pretty old and like i said my original fridge didnt work. The worst was the shower though. The shower head was on a slider that didn't stay up and was always too low for me to wash my hair without bending at a 90 at my waist

It was a nice stay, the roads outside of the hotel are a little difficult to navigate but staff was friendly and the room was beautiful. We stayed in a suite and the room had everything you’d need for a good stay (fridge, kitchen, dishes, microwave, table for eating, etc.)

I liked the layout of the room, but did not like that my faucet was broken when i arrived to the room and also did not like the lack of parking.

Pretty decent. Wasn’t crazy about the fact they don’t change towels and clean up daily. But it’s policy so I get it. It’s a historical building so it has an outdated feel to it. Nice staff.

The room and bathroom were tiny and disorganized for a suite

All staff was warm, friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. I didn't care for the squeaking mattress, the ripped bed cover/blanket, and that my keycard didn't work 30 minutes before checkout time. Even when the receptionist reactivated my keycard to get my luggage from my room the keycards still did not work. The engineer needed to be called to open my door. They were helpful however my card shouldn't be deactivated before 11am. Also it didn't feel safe for me to walk around to look for a restaurant at night alone. A lot of homeless in the area. They're not harmful but it's a lot of them.

I received an email to call the hotel if I had not yet been contacted by anyone. I called and they said they had reached out and would resend the email. I assumed this was a check in process. They asked if I would be checking in and I replied yes. They sent me a faxed letter informing me they did not have a room for me on the first night and they offered me another hotel that was much further away. There was no mention of this on the phone. I went the next evening to check into the Marriott and the front doors were locked. I went around back and they were also locked. A few minutes later I saw someone inside and I was able to get in. I went to the front desk and they told me they were not filling any reservations. I asked to cancel my whole reservation. The women behind the desk asked my last name and type something in the computer and said canceled. I asked for a receipt and she said no one is being charged. I was fortunate enough to have a back up plan for the week. However this is completely unacceptable to have a weeks reservation, weeks in advance and no one reached out before hand. They could have left people stranded as this was a very busy week in Atlanta and rooms sell out months in advance. I do not plan to ever book with a Marriott again. This situation was handled very unprofessionally. As of today I can confirm I was not charged for the hotel.

The front desk staff was nice and the valet gentlemen were excellent. The kitchen staff was was not pleasant with the accepting of only one kitchen member who was sweet and accommodated our allergy concerns.

We never leave negative reviews, but we chose this place based on the good reviews. We arrived to the hotel at 4:05 to a lobby full of angry guests. We found out after making our way through the line that the guests anger was valid because the rooms were not ready. 4:00 is already a late check in. We had a concert starting at 5:00. The bathrooms were jam packed with people trying to get ready since their rooms weren’t ready. We went to the concert half ready. The staff called at 5:43 to let us know our room was ready. I asked which room it was and the staff member said they would tell me when we got there, so I can only assume not all the rooms were ready two hours after check in. When we got back from the concert we were exhausted and just wanted to get to sleep. As we were going up to the room we were noticing the condition of the building, and it’s in rough condition. It’s a very old building, but that’s not an excuse for the lack of upkeep and cleaning. We went to sleep fairly quickly after getting back to the room because it was late. We got up this morning to get ready to go and there were no towels at all in the room. I went to the bathroom to and the condition of the bathroom was awful. We decided to skip showers and just grab some food and get on the road. The free breakfast was on par with everything else, incredibly disappointing. There was green apples and that was the extent of the fruit. Cereal consisted of cheerios and Raisin Bran in dispensers.

The men at the valet watched me carry bags and only offered help after I brought them downstairs to the curb myself. The valet says do you need help I said I got them down already he said yeah I watched you bring them down I won’t be staying here again

The hotel was decent. It’s a historical building. It was nice inside, there are just a lot of homeless people outside of the building and it smelt like urine.

A great option for the low price. The rooms are a bit dated but the bed is comfortable, shower has great water pressure, towels are soft and the area is quiet. The staff is friendly & helpful and the property is walkable to State Farm Arena and Millennium Park. There are 2 entrances on either side of the building and the Peachtree side has stairs so avoid that side if you have large luggage or mobility limitations. Starbucks Dunkin are very close.

The hotel is below average for the price but I guess they hiked the room rates because of the APHA conference. The staff are helpful and professional. However, one morning there was hardly any food for breakfast (no fruit, milk, yogurt, cereal, waffle, cream cheese, literally nothing). When I complained, the reception staff simply told me that the truck did not arrive on time!

The staff was great. There is no self-parking so you will be stuck with paying $47 a day for valet, or you can risk parking on the street or nearby garages (10 cars were broken into while I was at a convention up the street). That being said, the room was clean, though it was a little dingy (it’s old). Breakfast was embarrassing, several complaints by numerous travelers while in the breakfast room. The food items were extremely limited (eggs, sausage, yogurt, cereal). Room should have been much better for the price, especially the bathrooms. Valet staff was wonderful.

Very large rooms and wonderful choices for breakfast

Initially, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location is very convenient, with the MARTA station nearby and most attractions within a 15–30 minute walk. Dining options were also a highlight, offering a wide range of vegetarian, non-vegetarian, dairy, and non-dairy choices—very accommodating for different dietary needs. However, my experience took a negative turn. During my stay, I noticed what I thought were mosquito bites on my neck, but after returning home and doing some research, I realized they may have been bedbug bites. Even more concerning, upon stepping outside the building I saw a notice posted by the City of Atlanta stating that the structure was “dangerous and unsafe.” This was never mentioned in the listing, and had I known, I would not have booked the hotel. The breakfast service was also disappointing. Despite arriving right as breakfast began around 7:00 a.m., I found very few plates available, sometimes none at all. When I asked a staff member for utensils, she sighed and handed them to me reluctantly, which did not feel very welcoming. Overall, while the location and food options were strong points, the safety concerns and poor service left me with a negative impression.
