Lobby smelled liked cigarette smoke because the smoking area is literally right out front the main entrance. Carpets were dirty, torn and miss matched. In our room the mirrors had hand prints on them, 1 put of 5 light Bulbs worked on the ceiling track light. Went to move the ottoman and one of the wheels fell off. Pool was a disgusting green color that made you not even want to try to swim. Breakfast was a $7 add on per person and wasn’t even worth it, rubber eggs, sausage patty oatmeal was the main offering. Parking lot was full of cigarette butts and unkept. The floors in our room were dirty. The bathtub was slippery and there wasn’t a non skid mat. I was told at check in that because we stayed multiple nights the room would only be cleaned upon request. The only decent thing was the beds were semi comfortable.

Checking in was fine but that was only thing that was good. We went up to the 3rd floor where our room was and the air conditioner wasn't working so the hallway was so hot it was almost unbearable and the floor was extremely dirty. When we went into our room it was dirty the entire floor was sticky the shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned and we were expecting that we would have queen sized beds not doubles so it was very uncomfortable since we didn't fit on the beds. My daughter couldn't plug her phone in because the plug next to the bed she was using didn't work and over half the light bulbs were burnt out. The entire experience was awful and I won't be staying at this location again

This hotel was so terrible we ended up just leaving and staying at another hotel. The AC didn’t work in the whole hotel, the elevator was broken, there was duct tape and tons of stains on the rugs in the hallway. Our room smelled terrible too

Was very stuffy on 7th floor. Thought there was A/C. Staff was very friendly. Bed was comfortable and jetted tub was nice. The ice machine did not work on many of the floors.

The property is run down and in a sketchy part of town. The hallways have duct tape on the carpets, some of the doors look like they have been bashed in by the police or fire dept. The doorways are totally bashed up from the cleaning and laundry carts. However, our room had been totally redone and was very clean. The parking is free, which was great but there were a lot of homeless people walking around the area and I expected to have our car broken into. But thankfully, that did not happen. The lobby and the eating area was clean and the breakfast was very good with a lot of option. The staff was very nice and attentive.

I had several lights out in my room and asked for bulb replacement. After 3 days waiting, hotel maintenance never replaced the burned-out bulbs. Hotel maintenance also never repaired the handicap hotel entrance doors. The doors were constantly being used and the hotel lobby was always cold because the doors never self-closed. I felt that there is no hotel maintenance staff

Expensive for a rundown hotel with no complementary breakfast. Pool is closed “temporarily” and the hot tub has be closed “temporarily” for so long the sign telling you it’s closed has just about completely faded away and there is 6 inches of dry dirt at the bottom of the hot tub. The beds were cleaner than your average 2 star motel and the staff was friendly than average hotel anywhere but everything else about this stay was worse than most 2 star motels we’ve stay in, and we have stayed in a lot of rough places. Wouldn’t spend more than $70 to ever stay here again.

Bugs everywhere. Floors looked as if they were not cleaned prior, the desk chair and one lounge chair were not clean, both with stains and crumbs. The sheets had accidentally lifted from one corner of the mattress exposing a very concerning/alarming type of stain type.. Variety of dead and alive bugs. Bugs were crawling on our dog within 30 minutes of him laying on the floor. This place is disgusting. Balcony was dirty, spider webs and cigarette butts. Would never go back or recommend, even the front desk worker was horrified after showing pictures the next morning. We arrived late with a 12:30AM check-in from a long 12 hour day roadtrip, only once loading everything into the room and finally settling, we turned on all the lights to really discover what was happening in the room.

Trouble with the air conditioner. Changed rooms 3 times to get one that worked somewhat. Thankfully it had a balcony and I could open the window at 3 am to let in some cool air. It was close to downtown but was hard to enjoy given the conditions.

We showed up around 5 pm and checked in. The lobby was hot to the point of discomfort. The lady at the desk had a fan blowing on her. She was very pleasant and professional. On the way to our room we laughed that the carpet was held together with ductape. Several doors appeared as though they had been opened with a crowbar. A vacuum had not been used in those hallways for weeks at a minimum. When we got to the room we immediately noted the AC was not working. I went down to the front desk and the lady said maintenance had gone home for the night. She was nice enough to give us the fan from the counter that was blowing on her. We went out for dinner and upon return, went the bar for a drink. The waitress in their was as personable as a badger. The next day they moved us to a different room. This one was next to the elevator and it rattled the walls every time it was in use. The TV did not work and the ice machine was out of order as well. The beds were comfortable and the front office staff, in the evening, did the best she could.

The room we stayed in clearly had not been cleaned thoroughly. There was a bandage and dirt particles under the bathroom sink. The hallways did not looked like they had been vacuumed recently. The staff was friendly, but overall we were very disappointed with our stay due to the dirty conditions.

This hotel is older and a bit run down. Areas of worn carpet in the common area hallway in front of the elevator where the cleaning cart had worn it down are repaired with duct tape. Hallway outside my room was in need of vacuuming. One of the sinks in my room had a constant faucet leak and after showering I found water accumulated on the floor on the side of the toilet opposite the bathtub - clearly not from a dripping shower curtain but some bigger issue. Based on water stains on the tile, this has been going on for some time. That being said, the customer service was excellent. I arrived at midnight and the desk clerk was right there, ready to check me in. The room was clean, bed was comfy. I liked that the floors in the room were hardwood instead of the usual carpet. There was a convenient coffee maker and fridge in the room and the ice machine worked, which can’t always be said at some of the more expensive hotels I’ve stayed at. I had to do some work during my stay and the desk and chair provided were comfortable, great access to power outlets. WiFi signal was strong. This hotel was definitely a good value for the price paid, conveniently located. I would recommend.

*not an incentivized review* Okay, so when you check into a hotel and they put you on the 2nd floor, but then advise you to pay no mind to the damaged doors you'll see on your walk to your room from a fire a few years ago... What! We walked through a decent looking lobby, up a decent looking elevator, onto the 2nd floor, AKA the dirty lil secret of the red Lion. The only thing worse in the hallway than the randomly patched up doors, was the grossest carpet I've ever seen in my life, being held to the floor by off brand duct tape and years of filth. It was a ripped, wrinkly, tripping hazard that will make you need a tetanus booster should you fall into it. The room itself was okay; like a fun little time capsule from 1995, including the manufacture date on the appliances and mattresses. The coffee maker didn't even try, the bean water was a cold, sad cup of despair. The HVAC didn't work properly, the room was freezing all night long. Probably would not recommend this place unless you're desperate, or paying by the hour. Also, be advised that the breakfast is an ADDITIONAL $7 per person, which is probably not worth it since they've honestly struggled with basic maintenance and upkeep.

Great location - we could walk to downtown. AC was broken. Sliding door to balcony did not lock (did not feel safe). Broken sink faucet in bathroom (and obvious it had been broken for a long time). Thought they might offer me breakfast ticket for inconveniences (they didn't). Staff was friendly and constantly apologized. Room was clean (maid service every 3rd day). I would stay there again.

I stayed here because it was walking distance to downtown. The key didn't work and I had to exchange keys . The new one still didn't work every time. The bathroom door wouldn't close, it was stuck between the tub and the toilet.

It was in a convenient location, had no real issues. Room needed renovation, sliding door that led to patio had no lock on handle, and pin type security lock at bottom of door was not engaged. Someone outside could have came into room.

While I understand staffing shortages, I do not understand lying, lack of communication, lack of hospitality and shirking responsibility to the next guy. After driving a straigh 12 hours, we tried to early check in only to find out 8 staff called out, 7 of which were housekeepers. 2 managers from other locations came to help out. We stayed around the hotel for an hour and checked back in with the front desk on the status of our room. One of those stand in managers collected my information, looked at my reservation, and told me she had to go check rooms to make sure they were ready. We were going to get lunch, and she told me when we came back, she would make sure our room was ready. She confirmed we had 4 people with us. We came back to a long line and only 1 employee. By the tine we got to the front desk, she had said that they do not have our doubke room, they switched our room to a single king. We had 4 people, i was not going to share a bed. She saw the managers note, but did not share with me what it said. The manager had known this and did not tell me. I was asked if I wanted to buy another room or if I wanted a refund. 4 hours we waited around when we could have found a different accomidation right away. I was dead tired, I had somewhere I had to be at 8pm, and now ny sleep and recover time had been eated up by some uncaring, disrespectful, crappy business. We were left scrounging for a place with 2 beds. I ended up spending an additional $125 for a better place.

Was very late check in, but Dre, the clerk who greeted us was so nice and friendly. In fact, all the staff we came in contact with were fantastic. The only reaso for 4 stars is the hotel is showing its age. Some minor issues i the room, that being one of the towel holders for the extra sink was partially pulled out of the wall and the bathroom fan didnt work. Besides that, overlook the dated decore, its was a great stay. The bed was really comfortable and probably the best sleep ive ever had in a hotel. Oh, and no wifi, but thats a first world problem, thats what unlimited data is for lol. Wish i could remember all the names.of the staff we interacted with cause they all deserve their own shout outs, but Dre was by far the most memorable.

RED LION LEFT US OUT IN THE COLD WITH NOWHERE TO SLEEP, AND DIDN'T CARE!(please like if you find this unacceptableas treatment of guest). We got in late due to an accident on the highway, and didn’t get to Red Lion until 1:AM. There we two other guests ahead of us who I assumed were also delayed by the accident checking in. As we listened we discovered they overbooked and had canceled all our reservations. THEY NEVER CALLED ANYONE TO LET THEM KNOW THEIR RESERVATIONS WERE CANCELED. The first guests asked what are we supposed to do now. He said he was sorry, but we (their guests) just have to try and find another hotel ( at 1:AM). They offered no help in finding a room somewhere else, or even offered any suggestions where we might check for an available room. My wife and I along the others were left out in the cold to fend for ourselves at 1 AM, in an unfamiliar city with the prospect of having to sleep in our vehicle somewhere. Hoping the area would be safe enough to try and sleep in our vehicle. My wife fearful of the thought of sleeping in our car not knowing if we would be safe, started frantic frantically calling every hotel. After about hour and a half of us calling around with either no rooms available or no one picking up , the Best Western Vista in called us back apologizing they missed our call a few minutes ago. We finally got a room at 3:AM in the morning thank to BEST WESTERN!

The hotel overbooked for the type of room we reserved. The check-in line was almost to the revolving door so it took us almost a hour to get checked in. Despite the fact that we had three people listed on the reservation, we were given a room with one king bed. Nothing was said at check-in about the substitution, so we had to come back to the line to try and fix the situation. They offered us a rollaway bed for our third member, who is 6’4” and built like a linebacker. We ended up having to rent an additional room, and we were offered no discount or even apology. Since we booked third party they acted like we had no grounds for recourse. The second room was down a hall that reeked, as there were urine soaked sheets set out in the hall. The concerning thing is that the sheets were still there hours later. The rooms were noisy, not because of other guests, but because of machinery/equipment background noise to the point ear plugs were needed to sleep. The furniture in the rooms was scuffed and marked to the point I would have even been surprised to see them for sale at a thrift store. A dropped earring led to moving a chair and looking under the bed, and it was disgusting under both. There were several burned out lights, and the lamp at the desk in one of the rooms was broken and didn’t even have a bulb. Overall it was a frustrating experience and a disappointing stay, in far seedier rooms than we expected from Red Lion.

Worse check in experience, then 30 minutes later had a woman frantically knocking on my door, when I answered she was basically screaming “what are you doing in this room? You are not meant to be here. You are going to have to come downstairs now to sort this out!!” After back and forth saying, the reason that I was in this room is because that is what they had given me when I checked, she just continued yelling at me telling me I was not supposed to be in that room. Finally went downstairs to sort it out (was in right room, nothing changed) Thermostat broken so couldn’t adjust temperature in room, missing tiles around bath tub and a very suspicious looking pair of underwear left hanging in the bathroom when I checked in If you get a cheap deal then stay there if not getting room at bargain price steer clear

The staff was incredibly nice and the rooms are pretty large, which is nice compared to many small hotels. Though, there was so many broken and malfunctioning things that you could tell that maintenance and the company was both cheap and lazy. I was there three weeks and the handicapped door was broken the entire time the elevator would not close unless you pushed the door and it would rattle often. It’s in a nice location geographically, being close to 9th and 6th street but they definitely need to do a little investment and there is quite a bit of homeless people outside the surrounding area.

As the manager of well-known touring bands, I have routed bands to the Red Lion Downtowner for many years due to being able to park the tour bus onsite, the convenient location, and the bus operator being able to check in early since he drives all night - usually 400 to 500 miles. Upon arrival, the desk clerk, Benjamin, was extremely rude to our bus operator - he refused to let him check in two hours early despite my calling the hotel a week ago to confirm he could check in early. There were ample rooms available, Benjamin wanted to charge him/us $25 per hour (for both rooms that were reserved). When the bus operator alerted me to the situation, I called the hotel and spoke to Benjamin briefly as he hung up on me. I called again - , he answered and I asked why he hung up on me; he did it again. A third call resulted in the same; being hung up on. The band and the bus operator decided to get something to eat in hopes that by the time they returned, they could check in; which, they did. I then called the hotel again planning to thank Benjamin for letting them check-in but once he knew it was me, told me to "Go f#ck myself and to never book a room there again. He then hung up on me (4th time). Benjamin\'s behavior toward my bus operator, band members & myself was not only rude; it was mean and uncalled for. The music community is big; we have already reached out to fellow band managers & agents to advise them to steer clear of the Red Lion Downtowner in Boise, ID.

At check-in I found that the front desk worker had written my credit card number and expiration date down on a piece of paper after I had called it into her for an update. It was still on the counter unattended when I got there to check in. Our room was not great. The bed was terrible and the AC unit made a clanging noise when the fan reached a certain speed. On the first night, we left the room for a dinner and came back to find out key cards did not work. We were on the 3rd floor above THE RESIDENTS WHO LIVE ON THE SECOND FLOOR FULL TIME. I Called the front desk but no answer. I walked down to the front desk and was told, there was some mistake and he made me new keys. The rest of the stay seemed fine but RL used to be a hotel to be proud of staying at. This place was old, carpets had been through hell, hotel room doors looked like they had been soaked in water at one point. All of them were bloated and cracked. Don’t let the pictures fool you, this place has zero luxury left in it.

The staff were really nice and the lobby looked nice. Hallway is covered in black tape, some doors look like someone attack it with a crowbar then blue tape put over it…kind of. the closet in the room was broken, the shower barely drained/worked, tv didn’t work, clothes left under the bed, fridge still had beer in it from previous. Oh and the pool was green

It was ok for a one night stop on the road but would not choose to stay at this hotel again. The room was dated with signs of wear and tear and some areas of the room had not been cleaned well (microwave and chair) Staff were friendly and helpfulz The area around the hotel is not great and when we arrived there was a homeless man going through garbage and a lady with her dog having a meltdown, being there with my infant son made me more wary and concerned for our safety. Do not get a room next to the elevator as you hear the elevator all night.

This property seemed sketchy as soon as we arrived. Police literally made an arrest as we pulled in. Night staff was friendly, which was not the case for the morning desk. The floors and carpets throughout the propwrty were dirty and had crumbs visibly all over. On a long travel weekend, they decided to falter on their continental breakfast, which suppose to be included, and didnt offer no alternatives. No water fountains, just overpriced snacks at the front desk. The fitness center was extremely hot and not properly ventilated. Overall, a very bad experience for a high priced overnight stay. I would not recommend it!

Place is a total dump , charging $7 for breakfast , there literally wasn't any !

The carpets were patched with duct tape. Celling lights were missing in the room and there was no desk chair. Teo out of the four days there was no breakfast service just because the staff did not show up. Some doors were damaged on the second floor.

Excellent service, the front desk was very attentive and friendly. The breakfast is really good too!

The hotel itself was ok. Dated but not terrible. The beds were comfy and had a nice big bathroom. But the ac did not work well and it was really warm out. The breakfast was almost non existent and you had to pay for it. We asked for housekeeping like we were told but the room did not get cleaned.

Ac didn't work in first room. No TV in the next. Carpeting ripped. Restaurants closed... Ugh

The complementary breakfast was disappointing. The biscuits were good, but the scrambled eggs, sausage, and gravy were cold and not at all appetizing.
